Is sad news in Nollywood and the fans of Idowu Philips popularly known as Iya Rainbow as she losses her daughter to ulcer. Mrs Shola George, the 2nd daughter of veteran Nollywood actress Iya Rainbow has passed on to glory.

The C&S prophetess reportedly lost her long time battle to chronic ulcer about 15 minutes to 11pm yesterday at a private clinic in Ojodu Lagos. The deceased was planning to travel to the United States for treatment when she developed complications.

Top Nigerian lawyer and social critic, Festus Keyamo, has again talked tough regarding the ongoing antigraft war as led by President Muhammadu Buhari. In an interview with Naij.com, the human right activist cleared the air regarding claims that the current administration is concentrating all its efforts in the war against corruption, leaving other fields to lie fallow.

Keyamo said he disagrees with the claims, stressing though the drive to recover looted funds tends to be at the fore currently, it has not stopped the administration from carrying out all its other duties. In his words: “it is wrong to say that all the attention is being focused on the anti-corruption process, what is happening is that the anti-corruption agents are just doing their job.”

He went on to say that nobody has a scale as to determine whether the government has put more efforts in one sector over another sector. Reacting to a question on President Buhari’s alleged disregard for the rule of law, the astute human rights activist noted that there are so many misinformation going on within the country.

The lawyer who claims he is at the very heart of most cases regarding the antigraft process, said the agencies involved ensure that they follow procedures as required by law. He said the fowl cries based on bails reportedly not granted, stems from the fact that the individuals involved do not understand the clauses in the law. He informed that in most cases, the people involved do not meet the requirement set for their bail, hence their being held in custody till the terms are perfected.

Keyamo pointed out strongly that all those who looted the nations treasury using the law, would also be brought to justice using the law. On the stand of Nigeria regarding militants especially within the Niger Delta where he hails from, Keyamo informed that like governments before it, the current government has continued to extend a hand of fellowship by continuing the amnesty program, till a stipulated time when the exercise will be scrapped.

He assured Nigerians that “there is no persecution going on anywhere”. He said he would not comment whether rightly or wrongly who the Nigerian State sees as an outlaw, but noted however, that no one is above the law. Keyamo noted that no region is favoured above the other, and if a person from the north and another from the east is detained, then “why should somebody from the southsouth not be in detention? Is he bigger than the Nigerian State?,” the Senior Advocate asked.

The frontline activist concluded by reiterating that the fight against corruption and insurgency is not a deliberate policy towards any region.

Some may argue if what she did was between the bounds of the law, but if its not, at least it is within the bounds of morality. A police officer went viral after going beyond the call of duty to breastfeed an abandoned baby.

Luisa Fernanda Urrea, a police officer and new mother, had been called to a remote forest settlement in Colombia where the abandoned baby was found. The baby was starving and at risk of hypothermia so while waiting for the ambulance she started feeding the girl.

But modest Luisa told local media: ‘I’m a new mother and I have milk and I recognised the needs that this poor little creature had.’ She added: ‘I think any woman would have given her nourishment in the same circumstances.’

Police and health officials are searching for the baby’s birth mother, who may face attempted murder charges. Pending the time, the infant is now being cared for by the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF), who are searching for an adoptive home.

Parents of the missing Chibok girls have gathered again at the Unity Fountain where they will join the missing Chibok girls advocacy group, #BringBackOurGirls, on a match to Aso Rock where they are expecting to meet with Mr. President to the status, intelligent reports and his efforts towards finding their daughters who have now been missing for a year and 265 days.

It will also be recalled that the Nigeria Army was alleged to have detained 60 parents of the Chibok girls who where on the way to a peace protest in FCT. You can read more about that here.

Nollywood super start Chief Genevieve Nnaji (Yes! you heard me right. She is a chief.) took to her official Instagram page yesterday to share a photo of her newly acquired home in Apo Dustse area Abuja with her fans. The ultra modern home which cost a whopping N29 million is still under construction.

Agulu Lake is a potential tourist site located in Agulu town of Anambra State which houses an estimated 300 crocodiles and water turtles. Fishing is not allowed on the lake and the crocodiles, being sacred animals to the people, cannot be killed according to a report on Vivian's Blog.

Legend says that these crocodiles were instrumental in delivering the town from enemy soldiers during the Nigerian civil war. It is believed that these sacred crocodiles and turtles transformed themselves into beautiful ladies and lured the soldiers unawares into the lake where they disappeared without trace.

Recently, as the people celebrated the New Year, the crocodiles appeared at the banks of the lake to take in sunlight causing gridlock as passersby stopped to take a glance and selfies with the revered animals.

Zambian Pastor Conrad Mbewe Says TB Joshua’s Predictions Are Demonic, Prophecies False.“TB Joshua’s Predictions Are Demonic, His Prophecies Are False”- Zambian Pastor Conrad Mbewe Blasts SCOAN Founder

Well, in the last few years, the prophet has become notorious for prophecies related to politicians or football (what Americans call “soccer”). The internet is awash with news items claiming that “sources” have told them that the prophet has predicted the death of a president or the final score sheet of a pending football match. Hence, in the streets of Africa, TB Joshua has become the latest wonder-boy. Everyone is talking about him.

For instance, “sources” said that TB Joshua predicted that the Zambian national football team would lift the prestigious AFCON Cup early this year. In fact, the “sources” also said he predicted Didier Drogba’s heart-rending penalty miss—which could have buried the hopes of the entire nation of Zambia. So, even if you did not know TB Joshua prior to Zambia’s recent win, his name was added to our staple diet from that point onwards.

Being a pastor in Africa, I have been asked again and again by people in the streets what I make of all this. Thankfully, my own church members know better. However, I engage in a lot of one-on-one and door-to-door evangelism, and this is one of those questions I get asked very often. It is obvious that TB Joshua and his predictions are on the minds of many Zambians (and Africans). Let me make just two comments about all this.

Unverified Claims

The first comment I want to make is that many of the stories doing their rounds about TB Joshua’s feats amount to fictitious stories that are unverified. They get passed on from one hearer to another and grow larger and larger until they become “real”. They can best be included in the folklores that made up so much of African traditional stories, like the stories of the beautiful women that once used to walk dry out of the river at full moon to mesmerise village men and disappear back into the water!

It is the same with the prophecy of Chelsea winning the Champions League Cup. I have searched the Internet looking for a clip where TB Joshua is saying in clear words that Chelsea would win the Cup but all I have found are statements that “sources” have said it. Here is a man who runs a TV network for 24 hours a day, and yet the one piece of information that is the hype of today cannot be found! In fact, what I seem to find are statements made just before the match claiming that he did not say anything of the kind. Perhaps someone can send me a YouTube link where he said it—and said it clearly.

I am reminded of the many claims to healings that are made by “anointed” Charismatic preachers. Every week, there are tens of thousands of miracle services conducted across the country and the continent. When I say that these are just publicity and fundraising gimmicks, sincere Christians are often horrified at my saying so. In Ikeja Magistrates' Court in Lagos yesterday remanded three siblings for supposedly whipping a pregnant mother. The accused are a tailor yusuf Oloyede, 25; an artisan, Ganiyu Oloyede, 18; and a fashion designer, Riliwan Oloyede, 28. Judge A.O. Gbajumo, remanded the siblings in the police custody and adjoned the case till today for notice.

The trio, who reside on Church Street at Obawole in Ogba, Lagos, were arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and assault. Prosecuting police Corporal Michael Unah said that the accused committed the offence on Saturday at their residence. He said the accused conspired to assault the expectant mother, Mrs Maria John. “The accused beat up their neighbour not minding her condition,” he said.

Unah said the pregnant woman’s husband reported the case to the police. He said the complainant’s children were digging the ground to pack sand to fill the front of their house when the accused ordered them to stop. “The complainant’s children were digging sand to fill the front of their house and the accused asked them to stop but they refused.
