some people do not understand how these things work.

Nigeria Government should be the one regulating these people through the help of SON but no, everybody is busy looting the money and collecting bribes thereby turning Nigeria to a dumping ground

I read some peoples comments saying "don't come here to complain cuz they didn't force you to buy". Do you even know the work of a government? Their primary objectives is the protect the interest of the people.

Bottom line, consumers are hungry and if you market anything to them, they will buy it. These people are like Physicians and consumers are like patients, so tell me, will a patient refuse what his doctor tells him? Don't you know that if medical profession are not at least merely regulated, they will prescribe anything to their patient just to make more money and they will buy it.

Imagine the government let cocaine and other hard drugs flood the market, they will market it well and almost every citizen will try it out and guess were Nigeria will be then.....

Regulation is the key. And how they hail do they allow these substandard products in Nigeria and yet they don't have service stations in the country. This is the height of hypocrisy.

It is indeed surprising and weird to hear some stories in Lagos State. Somethings you could only imagine that happens only in Nigeria movies are now happening in real life. A Led in evidence by the state prosecutor, Mr Babatunde Oguntemowo, an importer of laboratory and scientific equipment, Babatope Adamolekun, told a Lagos state High Court sitting in Ikeja that: “On May 12, 2014, at about 8a.m, on my way to work at Bello Bus Stop, Iju, Lagos, I saw a 10-year-old girl (name withheld) begging a woman for money.

Justice Kudirat Jose of Lagos state High Court sitting in Ikeja was told on Thursday, June 9, how Gbadegesin, 40, had sexual intercourse with his daughter for 18 months. The witness further told the court that when he asked the girl of her father’s whereabouts, she told him that her father’s commercial bus was parked a few meters away from the bus stop and that he had gone to get fuel. Adamolekun told the court that with the help of four other people, they forced the victim’s father to the police station in a tricycle.

He added: “On getting to Red House Police Station at Iju Ishaga in Agege, I told the police what happened and they assigned a female officer to take the girl to hospital for test and treatment. “I assisted them with N7,500 that evening when I was showed the result from the hospital that confirmed that her father had sex with her. The DPO, Ajimote, directed them to charge the matter to court immediately after seeing the report.”

Reports said that the next morning, Gbadegesin admitted having sex with his daughter, saying it was the devil’s work. The witness continued: “Then we chartered a vehicle to Abule-Egba Magistrate’s Court, where I was called as a witness, and the Magistrate ordered that the girl be taken to Idi-Araba for rehabilitation, while her father was remanded in Kirikiri Prison.” The matter was adjourned for continuation of trial on Thursday, October 6, by Justice Jose.

Tragic incident happened on Wednesday at the apartment of the acting Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria, Mrs. Olufunke Omotuyi, when unidentified persons stabbed her to death. According reports, MLSCN boss was stabbed in the neck and in the chest by the assailants at about 4am on Wednesday.

It was learnt that Omotuyi, who was due for retirement from the council in two months, was attacked and killed in her residence in the Apo area of Abuja and it was gathered that the killing was reported at the Durumi Police Division and at the Zone 7 Police Command in Abuja.

The National Public Relations Officer of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria, Adeyeye Tam, who confirmed the death to our correspondent, said the MLSCN boss was preparing to attend an international summit. He said, “It is confirmed that the acting Registrar and CEO of the MLSCN, Mrs. Olufunke Omotuyi, was killed in the early hours of Wednesday at her residence in Abuja.

“It is shocking. I am on my way to her apartment. I cannot say much about it now.” A worker with the MLSCN, Abuja, who spoke with us condition of anonymity, said Omotuyi lived alone in the apartment. She said, “The news has thrown all Nigerian medical laboratory scientists into mourning. The CEO was stabbed in the neck and in the chest. She was in her 60s because she was supposed to retire in two months’ time. She did not live in the apartment with her children and her husband. Her husband is a senior pastor in an Anglican church in Lagos.”

Because of the economic situations in Nigeria recently, financial institutes (Banks) have become proactive by sacking many of their workers in order to keep their dwindling stock in the market as well as service their stock holders. Banks have sacked upto 4000 workers recently and counting. But few days ago, FG threatened to withdraw license of uncooperative banks and other firms if they sack any workers again. Many of you knows Bimbo very well and she is a no nonsense lady and ever since everyone found out that she is pregnant, many were of the opinion that a certain married Mr. Alake had impregnated her. Reports also surfaced that the wife of the said Mr. Alake who lives in Nigeria is planning to wreak havoc in other to separate her man from the clutches of the Nollywood actress.

Speaking to The Punch from the United States, Bimbo stated that she is not pregnant for any Mr. Alake. She said, “I have never dated any Alake so the report is false in its entirety. The picture of the man circulating the Internet is that of my in-law, the husband of my aunty. We don’t know where this report is coming from”.

Speaking further, she said, “What is clear is that I am pregnant, for whom and when I will deliver is none of anybody’s business.” When pressed further to confirm or deny if the man responsible for her pregnancy is married or not, she declined to comment.

It was confirmed by Punch that Bimbo’s baby shower is scheduled to hold this month while the expected delivery date is also being pegged for this month.

In just one year of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, the Nigerian stock market crashed by N1.732 trillion as against the N11.658 trillion market capitalization was as at May 28, 2015. According to a report by Punch newspaper, in the first quarter of 2016, the All-Share Index also crashed to 28,902.25 basis points from 34,310.37 basis points as the equity category lost over N1.053tn in the first quarter of 2016. The market capitalisation of the NSE fell by N811bn in the first 10 weeks of trading this year.

The NSE market capitalisation dropped from N9.75tn on January 4, 2016 to N8.939tn 10 weeks into the year, while the All-Share Index also closed at 25,988.40 basis points from the 28,643.67 basis points recorded on the first trading day of the year.

Investors had also made huge losses in the Nigerian equities market last year as the market capitalisation (equities only) of the NSE shed a total of N2.354tn between December 2014 and December 2015. An analyst quoted in the report said in the last one year, the efficiency of the country’s economy had been constrained by policies – monetary and fiscal. He noted that the country had not been able to chart the right path in the past one year, saying some actions by the Federal Government in recent times had shown a rethink especially in the partial deregulation of the petroleum downstream sub-sector and the flexible foreign exchange market.

“Our concern is that this flexibility must mean flexibility in the whole sense of it. We’ve seen the capital market make progress recently owing to these. Any attempt by the government to interfere again could drag us back significantly,” Mr Tola Oni, an analyst at WSTC Financial Services Limited said. But the President, Nigerian Stock Exchange, Mr Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, has said the capital market must facilitate capital raising for economic growth as well as mobilise savings for investment.

Chad's ex-ruler Hissene Habre has been convicted of crimes against humanity and sentenced to life in prison at a landmark trial in Senegal.
The judge convicted him of rape, sexual slavery and ordering killings during his rule from 1982 to 1990.

It was the first time an African Union-backed court had tried a former ruler for human rights abuses.

The verdict will be seen as a major step forward by those who are campaigning for African leaders to be tried on the continent for war crimes.
They have been pushing for a permanent African court of justice to be set up, believing war crimes suspects should be prosecuted on the continent rather than at the Hague-based International Criminal Court (ICC).
But some people were critical of the AU-backed court, set up specifically to try him. They argued that it was under Western influence as it had been partly funded by the European Union and US.
However, survivors of Habre's atrocities did not seem to care who funded the court. They were just relieved that justice had been done, 25 years after his rule ended.

Some of his victims were subjected to "supplice des baguettes" (torture by sticks), when the victim's head is put between sticks joined by rope which is then twisted.
Gberdao Gustave Kam, president of the special court, said Habre had also committed three acts of rape.
Habre was arrested in Senegal, where he was exiled, in 2013.
Many of his victims campaigned for him to be tried following his overthrow in 1990.
"Today will be carved into justice as the day that a band of unrelenting survivors brought their dictator to justice," said Reed Brody from Human Rights Watch, who has worked on the case for 17 years and was in court for the judgement.
In 2005, a court in Belgium issued a warrant for his arrest, claiming universal jurisdiction but, after Senegal referred the issue to the African Union, the AU asked Senegal to try Mr Habre "on behalf of Africa".
In 2013, a court in Chad sentenced him to death in absentia for crimes against humanity.

This is still a developing story and therefore we cannot ascertain the reasons behind the mayhem nor confirm the authenticity. It has been alleged that Biafra supporters stabbed one police officer and dumped two others inside River Niger after a clash today May 30th.

According to multiple sources, including eyewitnesses, the Biafra supporters who are celebrating Biafran heroes today, were parading the River Niger road when the police patrol van ran into them and attempted to disperse them.

The Biafran supporters reportedly overpowered the police officers, threw two of them into River Niger and allegedly stabbed another police officer. One of the police officers has been rescued from the River and has been rushed to the hospital while the other one is still missing.

The government of President Muhammadu Buhari has announced the agreement with Niger Delta militants. Paul Boroh, the presidential adviser on Niger-Delta matters and coordinator of the amnesty programme, said that government and former militants agreed to end the pipeline vandalism. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Boroh told this reporters on May 28, Saturday, adding that the pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta region was reducing the economic fortune of Nigeria and increasing sufferings of Nigerians. ‎

He advised the agitators to talk with the relevant authorities over their challenges and stop destruction of oil facilities.‎ Buhari’s adviser gave the assurance that plans were in the line to create welfare and a housing scheme in addition to the existing programme and projects.‎ He underlined the need to find enduring solutions to the ongoing crisid in the region. “Personally it makes me feel bad that we don’t know how to solve our problem,” Mr.Boroh said.

“To you my comrades, it is our responsibility to make sure that insecurity in our environment is well sorted out. The EFCC state 11 officials of the INEC received N120 million bribe as a part of Alison-Madueke’s N23 billion ‘fund’ for the 2015 general elections, a correspondent of ThePunch learnt on Friday, May 27. The officers admitted receiving a bribe during questioning on Thursday. They were in charge of the 11 local government areas of Gombe state during the 2015 polls.

The three main suspects are Ahmed Biu, the electoral officer for Akko local government area (LGA), Ahmed Ali Biu, the INEC official in charge of Gombe LGA, and Mohammed Zannah. The trio said a retired electoral officer, Yunusa Biri, was in charge of coordinating the distribution of bribes in the state. However, the ‘coordinator’ allegedly short-changed the INEC officials, gave out only N8 million to the eleven LGAs in the state.

An undisclosed EFCC’s operative said the zonal division of the anti-graft agency will continue questioning of the following detained officers: Godwin Maiyaki, Gambo Balanga, Bukar Benisheik, Dukku, Jibril Muhammed, Billiri, Dunguma Dogona, Funakaye, Mohammed Wanka, Kaltungo, Ishaku Yusuf, Kwami, Suleiman Isawa, Babagana Malami, Shongom, and Nuhu Samuel. It is not the first confession on Diezani’s bribe saga.

Nollywood actress, Georgina Onuoha, has suggested the need for her colleagues and all Nigerians to speak up on issues at all time and not waiting till they got favours, deals or gigs from politicians. The actress said this after renowned movie producer, Dickson Iroegbu yesterday, in an open letter, pleaded with former president, Goodluck Jonathan for forgiveness, for his involvement in condemning his government.

Onuoha lauded Iroegbu, noting that it takes a noble man with guts to accept his mistakes and publicly acknowledge them. She added that until we (Nigerians) begin to hold our elected officials accountable; we will continue to languish in abject poverty while our elected representatives that are supposed to serve us lavish our inheritance.

“I have tremendous respect for you Mr Dickson,” the actress noted.

It would be recalled that Iroegbu on his Facebook page on Thursday, said he regretted fighting against the former president. He narrated how he and some of his colleagues ‘ganged up’ against Jonathan.

He wrote: “Dear Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, I write to apologize on behalf of myself and the many repentant Nigerians like me who ganged up against your government in 2012.” The movie director categorically stated that he was a fool to have fought against, condemned Jonathan. Supporting his guts and show of remorse, the mother of two on her Instagram account @georginaonuoha, backed Iroegbu. She shared a photo which compared the past government, People’s Democratic Party, PDP, and the present, All Progressives Congress, APC.

A friend posted this and i decided to share it along to serve as a caution to all people and most especially the NYSC members and prospective NYSC members. This is really sad and confusing. Before his dead body was found in Berger, Lagos, this young man, an NYSC member, Igali Ifiemi’s Facebook account was cleared out with all his photos deleted.

His body was discovered abandoned by the roadside along a lonely street by Berger. We suspect he was murdered. Shortly after the call came through that his body was found, his Facebook account got cleaned out. No single content was left behind. I suspect something on his timeline was incriminating enough to worth the pain of a guilty person going through it and erasing everything. On Thursday, he informed family members that he was going to Amassoma, Niger Delta University, to collect his statement of result.

His WhatsApp was last active on Friday evening. No Family member was informed he was travelling to anywhere else but NDU, Amassoama until a Policeman called from Lagos with his number to Identify his body found by Berger, (the Policeman described Berger as an outskirts of Lagos, a boundary with a neighbouring state).

Only Surviving Accident Victim On "Peace Mass Transit" Is Out Of Coma - Thank You God

She made it at last. Joy Akabuike the accident victim who was reported to be in Coma since Sunday the 22nd day of May 2016 which the accident happened is finally out of coma.

She's the only surviving passenger in that transit and a very good friend of mine back in school.

When God says Yes, nobody can say No.
