The leader of a cult group who was over the weekend arrested by the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of Lagos State Police Command in Jakande Estate, Ajah area, Lagos suburb, said that no amount of gun-shot can penetrate his body.

The cult suspect, Andrew Awalebi, 35, who belonged to the Eiye Confraternity, was arrested on Fridaymorning at a beer parlour in company of three other cult members around 8:00 a.m. Two other members of the cult group, Adegoke Adeleke (30), Kehinde Adebogun (31), were also picked up early Saturdaymorning at an hotel in Ikorodu…

Awalebi, from Ilaje Local Government, Ondo State was given out by Michael Thompson of the same Eiye Confraternity as a cult leader. Thompson was arrested a night before for robbery in National Stadium Surulere, Lagos. Awalebi disclosed that he worked with a popular land owner in Lekki. He claimed that he earns N40, 000:00 monthly from the property dealer for helping to protect his landed property in the axis. He told investigator that the gun-shot protective charm was specially prepared for him by an herbalist in Ijebu-Isiwo, Ogun State, to save him from gunshots of land grabbers in Lekki.

He added “I was initiated into Eiye Confraternity in 1996 by Banji Omisore, and later in 1997 I was promoted as its topmost leader after the death of Omisore…. We are eight member cult group. We meet very early in the morning or late at night. I have been arrested by Special Anti-Robbery Squad sometimes ago when my cult group caused mayhem in Jakande Estate, inflicting injuries on passers-by in the area.”

Arrested alongside Awalebi were Michael Thompson (24), Adegoke Adeleke (30), Kehinde Adebogun (31), Koffi Kwame (17), Daniel Olayiwola (36) and Tosin Issac (26) as they all confessed to be members of Eiye Confraternity. While confirming the arrest, the image maker of Lagos Police Command, Superintendent of Police, SP Dolapo Badmos, warned parents and guardians to be wary of their children and wards’ behaviors.

“Charity begins at home. But this should end in homes alone. Parents should help police to tackle cultism in their respective localities. They should endeavor to report to the nearest police station around them if they suspect movements of their children. This will help the Police to nip the cultism to the bud,” she advised.

The cult suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigative Department (SCID), Panti, for prosecution…

Deputy Senate President Ekweremadu and Senate President Bukola Saraki are being tried for alleged forgery of the rules of the eighth Senate. His supporters, thousands of them, according to Daily Post, have locked down Enugu alleging persecution of their leader.

The protesters are employing President Muhammadu Buhari to stop the persecution of their son. Ike Ekweremadu had, weeks ago, run to world leaders and international bodies asking them to come rescue the country from an imminent democratic collapse. He wrote to the United Nations (UN), European Union (EU), the United States and the United Kingdom informing them that President Muhammadu Buhari was planning to truncate his country’s democracy.

Police Area Command in Aba Abia State arrested a suspect identified as Mba Akachukwu, who was in possession of fake Nigerian currencies and has reportedly been posing as a lawyer. Mr Akachukwu is reported to have defrauded a number of people with the fake currencies, as well as using a fake identity card to bail several suspects from police custody.

The Nation reports that the police, going by a tip off, stormed his location and arrested him while recovering the counterfeit currency papers in his posession.

The currencies are reported to have been in five hundred Naira and one thousand Naira denominations, while several deeds of agreements and invoices, a letterhead paper of the Aba North Local Government Area of the State, and two fake identity cards of a litigation officer and Aba North Task Force ID card, were also recovered.

The suspect confessed to his crimes after his arrest and is reportedly in police custody awaiting his court hearing.

Nigerian Afropop star, Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, popularly known as DBanj, has denied rumours of his alleged marriage. Recall that over the weekend, news made the rounds on the social media of a secret registry wedding between the Kokomaster and his alleged half caste lover, 24-year-old undergraduate of the University of Abuja, Didi Kilglow.

The purported secret marriage reportedly had D’Banj’s father, Col. Oyebanjo Rtd.; and 25 other guests in attendance.

The music star has, however, debunked the news. He said the rumour is a mere figment of the reporter’s imagination. Speaking through his manager, Frank, in a press statement, DBanj said there was no marriage at all, let alone a secret wedding.

The statement reads:

“D’Banj didn’t do any secret wedding. He had a private event meant for only few family and friends and how that turned to a marriage ceremony is what I don’t know. “Some people obviously don’t understand simple English and we would not dignify them with response on such false tale,” D’Banj’s manager said.

“I would tell you the truth, I am not married but if I am, nobody would hear about it. It is going to be a very quiet wedding because I am tired of people asking me that question. It is my personal life and it is not going to change my music or brand. “I am not going to get married just because people want me to, neither would I do it just to enter another phase of my life just like some of my colleagues have done.

“They make it seem as if once you are married you have retired. But that should not be the case. Marriage would not change anything about me and whenever it happens, nobody would hear about it, there would only be speculations.

The said accident occurred yesterday before the Kaduna toll gate while coming from Abuja. All the four occupants in the car died and their bodies were trapped as it took passersby a lot of time to get the dead out of the car.

An eye witness Sani Yauri said the driver was on high speed and lost control when he maneuvered a pitch hole. He hit a machine and then hit a parked vehicle..*viewers discretion advised*

This is not good at all

This is a rear analysis of the EURO 2016 tournament taking place and I wonder if this is a good thing for Africa and Nigeria especially. It is enough that Africans have host of players running to abroad so that they could at least have opportunity to play in premier leagues and other leagues but to play for other country other than your native country, is something to worry about.

It is estimated that up to 14 to 15% of the 323 players registered for the ongoing Euro 2016 tournament are of African decent and 5 of those players are Nigerians. Question is, have we as Nigerians failed wholly to provide playing ground for this players? That they don't only want to play for foreign clubs but wish to nationalize and play for foreign countries too?

In this article, we will only take a look at the 5 Nigeria players playing in the ongoing Euro 2016 tournament.

1. Dele Alli (England)

Alli was born and raised in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, to a Yoruba Nigerian father Kenny and English mother Denise. Nigeria football officials with help from former Wimbledon star John Fashanu made frantic efforts to get the midfielder play for the Super Eagles but that chase ended when the Spurs star made his England debut in 2015.

Before then, Alli played for England’s U17, U18 and U19 teams. The 20-year-old starred in the Three Lions 1-1 draw against Russia in Marseille.

2. Hal Robson-Kanu (Wales)

Robson-Kanu confirms he indeed has Nigerian heritage but has never regretted his decision to pledge his allegiance to Wales even ahead of his country of birth England which he played for in the U-19 and U-20 category.

Robson-Kanu switched allegiance to Wales, the country of his grandmother, playing for the under-21 side before his debut for the senior team against Croatia on 23 May that year. He scored his first senior international goal against Scotland in March 2013 and has also opened his account in Euro 2016, scoring the winner against Slovakia

Super Eagles International Footballer, Odion Jude Ighalo celebrates his birthday today as he turns a year older. The 6'2' Watford Star whose father died not quite long ago shared some new photos of himself via Social Media to mark his birthday.

Odion Jude Ighalo is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays for English club Watford and the Nigerian national team as a striker. After starting his career at Prime and Julius Berger, he moved to Norway's Lyn in 2007.

The almighty VGC (Victoria Garden City) located after Chevron Round-about Lagos Island was today flooded beyond recognition. If you are trekking, the water will almost get to your waist during the morning time and even till this time, the water is still above the knees of people.

It is indeed an eyesore and something worthy of being monumental, I mean considering that everybody wants to stay in VGC thisdays, so is therefore pathetic to see this happening.

It is with heavy heart i bring this news to you. The two ladies, Adesola Olubola Ogunmefun and Funmilayo Odusina, who drowned at Elegushi beach on Sunday June 5th, have been buried. They were buried at the Ikoyi Cemetery in Lagos yesterday June 10. Their graves were close to each other. So sad.

According reports, 24-year-old Funmi (left) and 27-year-old Shola (right) who are both graduates from Covenant University with degrees in International Relation. They were also on the verge of completing their Masters in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos, lost their lives at a friend’s birthday party in Elegushi Beach yesterday.

May their souls rest in peace, amen.
