TV/Movies / Re: Yoruba Actors And Actresses In Nollywood Are Better? by Mosetra(f): 12:42am On Jan 28, 2011
I think the subject of the post should have been who are better: Actors/Actresses in Nollywood or Yoruba movies? For me, it is those in the Yoruba movie industry. They act effortlessly. It shouldn't be about tribe cos we have yorubas in the English speaking Nollywood industry, just as we have non Yorubas in the Yoruba movie industry who have a plus as they can act in both - Rachel Oniga, Liz Benson, Kelvin Ikedugba etc. This list debunks the argument of those who say actors in Yoruba movie industry are better cos they deliver in their native tongue. Faithia Balogun, Doris Simeon, Toyin Aimakhu, Mercy Aigbe are not Yoruba but they are very good. For me it is yoruba movies anytime, anyday. Nollywood is too fake for me!
Religion / Re: God Please Come Down And Show Yourself So People Stop Doubting by Mosetra(f): 1:26am On Jan 14, 2009
@ Poster: Just as some have said God does not have to come down to prove Himself. To who by the way? I believe He exists cos i feel His presence very strongly in my life.

@ Dios: You claim the Bible is a book full of jewish folklores that have erased our history. Pray is Science synonymous with African history? People just come up and talk rubbish in the name of rationalisation. Charles Darwin said human beings evolved over time. So, why haven't we evolved into something else? Say machines? I hope u are not a Scientologist? Cos even in advanced society including America, the publicity secretary of Scientology (Tom Cruise) is considered "nuts".
Travel / Re: Nigerians Abroad: What Advise Will You Give Anyone Relocating Abroad? by Mosetra(f): 1:05am On Jan 14, 2009
Hmmm! Interesting thread indeed!!! All i can say is that this is 2nd slavery. The great difference is that while in the first slavery people were taken by force, now we beg and humiliate ourselves in embassies to go slave for others. First time i visited UK , my salary in Naija was little yet i knew that i could never relocate hustle there. There is no better place to hustle than your land - atleast if the going gets tough, we still have some semblance of the communal life that used to exist within extended families - one uncle or auntie or even village man will sha help. After all, in Nigeria people can afford to be in civil service and still have time for business, family and religious activities. In most of these countries where my people are washing trains and dishes (esp in winter) u dont even have time for common sleep.

I think it is high time we learn to work hard; even without NEPA in Naija, u can buy gen and service with the amount used in paying bills over there and even have change left. But the truth is some people think there is a big, huge tree just over the seas where they will go and pluck money. Otherwise i cannot imagine why my country men and women will become objects of ridicule @ South African Embassy just for visa. SA of all places, what is there? SA that we helped free from apartheid.

At the end of it all, my conclusion is that "May God himself touch the hearts of our leaders so that the wealth of our nation can be used for the common good". Atleast, then we will differentiate between those who actually want honest labour and the indolents who have found a convenient excuse in "government no give us jobs". May God help us above all, to be able to afford those things that will help us live wholesome lives wherever we find ourselves cos at the end of the end of the day the reason we toil comes down to this: to have the basic necessities of life. Everything other thing "na jara!"
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Cbn Test Holds On January 24th 2009 by Mosetra(f): 12:28am On Jan 14, 2009
After I received the notification by text, i called the number that was included for enquiries and the guy who picked said the tests would be in 4 centers: Lagos, Abuja, Kaduna and one other place i cant recall probably Enugu. I applied in Abuja, so he told me my center would be here. So gate crashing would mean others who applied and are notified of venue and date would be kind enough as to share on nairaland so you know where those who applied from the same city(ies) as you would be writing.

Best regards
Jobs/Vacancies / Cbn Test Holds On January 24th 2009 by Mosetra(f): 9:29pm On Jan 09, 2009
Happy New Year,

For those who applied for different positions during CBN's vacancies advertorial in July/August 2008, shorlisted candidates have been notified on Test date. I got a text from FITC this evening. It reads "You have been shortlisted for the CBN Recruitment Test Holding on Saturday 24th January 2009. Time and venue will be communicated to you soon, ". I am sure there are many other shortlisted candidates who may not receive this notification in good time to prepare for the Test. So, if you applied for any position, get ready you just might be shortlisted.

Best Regards for the new year.

Family / Re: My Cousin's Story About Her Pregnancy by Mosetra(f): 5:06pm On Apr 21, 2008
Well, it is not possible for an african woman not to know that she is pregnant. Oyinbo women may be pregnant and not know until the baby pops out but not a nigerian. Come on!!! It is true that in some women amenorrhea does not occur but then there are other things that tell that a woman is pregnant. what of paleness of the skin? what about sunken eyes? what about retention of fluid in the body making the woman appear fatter than usual, what about the baby kicking in the womb? It is plausible to say some women dont take note of changes in their bodies but to say nothing happens is , especially for an unmarried girl, she knew. I'm sure the mother saw the changes in her and that was why the cock and chicken story of complication after appendectomy came about. Na wa o!!!!!!!!
Family / Re: My Friend Consistently Beats Up Her Mum! by Mosetra(f): 4:40pm On Apr 21, 2008
It is not the girl beating up her mother. It is someone using the image of the girl to cause the woman sadness and sorrow. I mean what kind of person would be happy that her own child beats her up. This is clearly a spiritual case and should be treated as such. It defies all scientific and social remedies. The girl/lady should make conscious effort to help herself and be helped - spiritually. But if like the poster said she has turned to a professional thug, maybe she should be sent back home where she will meet her match who will deal with her physically before she seeks spiritual help. My heart goes out to the mum and the daughter too cos i am very SURE she knows not what she does.

i believe he loves me cos since i met him, i ave become a better person in terms of anger management - here is a man, a fine one at that and when i say fine fine, i mean fine - that hangs around me even when i said terribly hurting things to when i used to allow anger control me. Of course sometimes he would express how shocked he was that i could think of saying such things to him and then he tells me "Bambi, learn to control your anger". Apart from that he cant bear to see me sad. I have never believed it when a man said he loves me until i met him. But for Cherie, my relationship would have been over but now i thank God everyday for bringing him my way.

Religion / Re: Noisy Places Of Worship by Mosetra(f): 5:14pm On Apr 08, 2008
This issue tire me o!!! The noise gets really annoying when after a terrible week you plan to rest very well and there are atleast 5 churches holding vigils around you! Really frustrating!!! Even though i attend Christ Embassy, I want to say in all objectivity that Pentecostal Churches are more guilty of the sin of noise pollution. It's really sad!!! Something needs to be done by us - and very drastically too!!! The noise pollution to me is bad but what i find very difficult to forgive is all those camp meetings along Lagos-Ibadan expressway christians use in causing serious traffic problems for people who travell along the road when they are unfortunate to travel when these our brethrens are having crusades, congresses or confrences. It has come to a stage that people schedule their journeys before or after these events to avoid travelling for two days for a journey that shouldn't take 6 hours! What beats me most is the fact that some of our pastors judge the success of these programmes by the length of hours people get stuck on the roads due to the number of cars that came for the progs and had to pack on the express way!!!! Can u imagine!!!! The Jesus I know was not and is not like that. Maybe we all have a responsibility of speaking out on behalf of others in our churches!!! They will listen one day!!! Or better still - in solidarity with our offended brethren especially the muslims - make we contribute offering again until they change. Haba!!!! grin

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Thierry Henry From Madagascar! by Mosetra(f): 3:37pm On Mar 11, 2008
Yes! yes!! yes!!!

This is no joke, neither is it a lie. I was in DR Congo last for a continental conference and I met two delegates from Madagascar. One of them happens to share the same first name as the renowned footballer and I jokingly commented about that and surprise, surprise!!. Now here is the story: The tribe to which Thierry is supposed to belong somehow still still lives in the dark ages when twins are a taboo. The only difference however is that purification rites do not require the killing of either both or even one of the twins. The only requirement to appease the "gods" is for the parents of the twins to pick one and give the other away.

Now Henry's parents decided to give Thierry away to a French Couple living in the area at that time. When they left, naturally they went with their adopted son.

Now the validity of this fable: One of the delegates from Madagascar is a Roman Catholic Priest involved in development work and it was to him that the biological parents of Thierry went to seek help on how to get their son back. Can you imagine? Well, after three years, Fr. Thierry was able to track the new father of Henry who said that the footballer has only known them as his parents and they were not ready to destabilise his life by bringing up a new story. Infact, there was a vehement warning to the "son seekers" never to try that again.

After recovering from my initiail shock, i told the Priest that I actually agree to that. After all, the boy was given away - free of charge, unwanted. So all of a sudden because he's become a "somebody" they want him back.

However, someone else disagreed. She felt the biological parents should atleast be allowed access to him and if the foster parents actually love him, they should tell him his background.

Now Nairalanders, what do you think?
Religion / Re: The Church And Homosexuality by Mosetra(f): 2:31pm On Feb 25, 2008
Wat a useless thread!!!! when did christians start making church leaders and not the Bible the standard of living and belief in God!!!

Please, before anyone posts any sensitive thread about what the Holy books (in this case the Bible since I am knowlegeable in it), they should do their home work and well too!

The Bible says we should not judge, but it also says that we should flee from evil. How do we know the evil? We have been given the right to distinguish between good and evil by the fruits each bear! It is that simple!! Now i wonder if that is what some folks refer to as judgemental!!!

Homosexuality is not a sin, it is a perversion! An absurdity which arose from constant sinning without remorse because the conscience has been deadened!!! There is a clear cut difference between a person who knows he sins but acknowledges that there is grace for him when he repents and the one who gives civilization as an excuse for his transgressions!!! Homosexuality, Lesbianism is a slap on the face of God who made man and made him a woman for the purpose of companionship and procreation. Whatever reason anyone gives to seek same in a member of the same sex is devilish. It doesn't matter who or what hirarchy of the faith endorses it!! God is against it, so are real Christians who have the Spirit of God in them.

By the way, how this issue bothers our muslim brethren beats me! Why swallow panadol on another man's headache!!! Abi you no know wetin dem dey call drug abuse and its adverse effects?
Religion / Re: The truth your pastor would not tell you about tithes by Mosetra(f): 2:10pm On Feb 25, 2008
The Bible says we should pay our tithes! Let no one deceive him/herself or be deceived by anyone. The Bible should be the standard of any true child of God and not the lives of men of God as it were. I see no reason why when it comes to commandment and obligations we are quick to saying we live under grace and not under the law therefore, my life is only in consonance with the New Testament. Are we now saying that the Old Testament be done away with? Did Christ not say he came to uphold the law? It doesn't matter how our pastors go about asking for tithes; it matters less what the monies are spent on. My tithe is one tenth of my income. If 90% is not enough for me, "stealing" the 10% would not make life any better.

I gave better arguments before against tithing. But when i tasted the Lord, i have come to know that He is sweet! I am a regular tither since 2005 and the promise associated with it has always being true. There is nothing as good as knowing that my devourers are rebuked just for giving up 10% of my income (which for some people is not even enough to recharge their phones in a month!).

God blesses us whether or not we pay our tithes! He does that because of we are His creatures. But there are specific blessings attached to specific spiritual exercises: fasting, alms giving, tithing, charitable giving. Let us not miss the point. Please!!!

Need i add that it is sheer ignorance that makes people rationalize the Bible? The word of God is not some literary piece where you compare and contrast chapters! To be a true christian you should be "docile" in believing the word of God. Only then will He come into your heart and give you insight, understanding and wisdom.

Shallom!!!

1. Compare the conditions of service of both.
2. Ask yourself "what do i really want?"
3. Align you desire with the offer closer to ut.
4. Most importantly, get on your knees and pray if possible sow a seed and allow God to lead you
Family / Re: Making Love Before One's Wedding by Mosetra(f): 4:33pm On Oct 02, 2007
Trust in marriage? And who says that trust in marriage is the only thing that sustains it? I did it with my husband before he even gave me an engagement ring (four months after). he married me cos he saw in me his soulmate not because i have had or not had sex before. and it gets even better each time we make love. Decency is not in whether or not we make love before marriage. it is in so many other ways. is it only your sexual status that makes a woman a good wife? what about character? what about culinary skills? what about knowing what it takes to be a good wife and homemaker? The Bible is against it. I am a Christian, i know that. But i won't be hypocritical.  By the way, why do Nigerians make it sound like sex is the only sin that can get one into hell? We commit a million and one sins everyday: slander, lies, stealing, etc, etc. There are people who married as virgins but are now worse than street whores.

Please guys: u don't have to resort to calling women derogatory names. If you have ever visited a public toilet before or poured some of your treasures in a basket, then i think you are more irresponsible than the 1 u call public toilet or basket. if you didn't desecrate the toilet, it'd still be good for someone else to visit and have relief

My verdict:
Politics / Which Is Correct For A Woman Please: A) Dr. B) Dr. (mrs). by Mosetra(f): 10:30am On Sep 25, 2007
This applies to all Nigerians who are really crazy about titles you know one person addressing himself as Dr. Pastor. Engr. Chief Babatunde Frederick. But what I'm more concerned about is when a woman is addressed as Dr. (Mrs), I think one title is ok. For a professional it should be Dr. Petra while as a PhD title it should simply Mrs. Petra, PhD. What do u think? May be I'm wrong
Celebrities / Re: Omotola or Rita Dominic - who is more beautiful? by Mosetra(f): 4:58pm On Sep 24, 2007
Well, beauty they say is in the eyes of the beholder. In my opinion in as much as Omotola is okay for her status as a mother of three or four, Rita is more beautiful.

By the way, those of judging who is more intelligent or not: how did you arrive at your conclusion please?

To those who are asking how many Nigerian women can afford to look like Omo-T after three children: over a million of them; without money nor a rich pilot husband so the question of expensive and designer cosmetics or a gym in the house and a swimming pool in the compound. are u people saying you have not seen? Besides, there is a big difference between a lady who gives birth early in life and those who don't. So the number of children one has does not count. After all, Liz Benson is still very beautiful even though she is way, way older than Omotola.

Beauty once again is in the eyes of the beholder. God has created everyone uniquely beautiful. Omotola is beautiful, Rita is. But i vote Rita anytime. With her afro or with her almost bald her, i still think she radiates beauty while Omotola radiates sex appeal and that's why she calls herself OMO S-E-X-Y
Religion / Re: Glory To Jesus, Honour To Mary! All The Real Catholics Please Stand Up! by Mosetra(f): 10:14am On Sep 19, 2007
@ ebos
Hey brother, i needn't explain any of my actions to you. I am God's creature, and if the word of God is true (as i believe it is) then I will not be judged by whatever Church I go to - be it white garment or red garment- i thought the thread was for people to air their opinion. My opinion is that unlike all the apostasies you preach about only Catholics going to Heaven, the visa to that glorious place is not the name of a church. it is the TOTAL BELIEF in Jesus and the fact thaonly He can save. finito! if u have any problem with that, go and settle it with Jesus, He said so i did not.

So take am easy, u hear?
Religion / Re: Glory To Jesus, Honour To Mary! All The Real Catholics Please Stand Up! by Mosetra(f): 4:21pm On Sep 18, 2007
It is good to give honour to whom it is due. The point being made here is not about honouring, it is about making images and bowing down to them! You keep using the argument of Mary carrying Jesus in her womb, that was then. Mary carried the uncrucified Jesus. if that is the basis for honouring her, then every true Christian who worships God in SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH and who is baptized by FIRE as happened during the days of St. Peter whom u claimed to be first Pope, has Jesus - the resurrected and glorified Jesus in them. so do we now go about carrying the image of people who we atleast know are really children of God and start bowing to them in the name of honour.

Pleaseeeee, since i was a child the only excuses you guys give are "do u remeber the wedding at cana, when Mary told Jesus, " or "if God found her worthy to give birth to His son, who are we not to , " i used those same arguments myself for many years. Pleaseeeeeee, Christianity is not mathematics where 2 + 2 must be 4. The word of God is surrounded with mysteries. the Bible may be written in English, but you do not interpret it the way u read it. That way it simply becomes a book of religious stories. I takes understanding and wisdom from God to understand what is contained therein.

I have catholics who are really versed in the Bible, they do not venerate nor adore images. Other Catholics say they are not real catholics. Now is it the devotion to Mary through her images that really distinguishes you as a Christian? Are we supposed to be Marians or Christians?

Once again May God have mercy on us all!
