In the 2nd of the 3rd match-day for Nigeria in Group D of the on-going FIFA world cup tournament, Ahmed Musa scored a brace in the 49th and 75th minute of play in the match against Iceland at the Volgograd Arena. Nigeria exploded to life in the 2nd half of their game to put their hopes of qualification to the last 16 in their own hands. The 2 goals from Ahmed Musa appeared enough to do the trick against a subdued Iceland side. 4 minutes into the 2nd half of play, Ahmed Musa took and controlled a long ball from the back without breaking stride and galloped towards goal, beating Kari Arnason in the process. Having drawn Halldorsson from his goal and seen the Icelandic keeper commit himself, he shimmied a couple of steps.... Thursday, the 21st of June 2018 is a date that will linger in the football history of Argentina for a long time to come. It is the day that the young and vibrant Croatian soccer team humbled the Messi lead team, in the biggest group stage defeat on the world cup stage in the last 60 years. At the end of match proceedings, Croatia inflicted a brutal 3-0 World Cup defeat on Argentina and this is sure to damage the 2 time champions' psyche, and may prove fatal to their participation at this tournament. The result means that an Iceland win over Nigeria on Friday and a convenient draw between Croatia and Iceland in their final game would see Argentina eliminated..... The 2018 FIFA World Cup is finally upon us. The greatest soccer players on the planet have taken the center stage in Russia. The tournament is back in Europe for the first time since it was held in Germany in 2006, and there's no shortage of storylines. Is this the year that Lionel Messi finally wins the only major trophy missing in his list of career achievements? It's been a 32-year drought for Argentina. Like Messi, who was not born the last time the Albiceleste lifted the World Cup trophy, the window may be closing for Cristiano Ronaldo, who will try to power Portugal, the 2016 Euro winners, to another title. What about Neymar, who is recovering from a broken foot? Will he be fit to lead a promising Brazil team to its sixth World Cup title? For today Saturday, the 16th of June 2018, the list of match fixtures are: (1) France and Australia will slug it out by 1pm (Nigerian time) ~ Group C (2) Argentina and Iceland will square off by 4pm (Nigerian time) ~ Group D (3) Peru and Denmark will go head to head by 7pm (Nigerian time) ~ Group C (4) Croatia and Nigeria will end match proceedings for today Saturday by 9pm. ~ Group D Croatia The team as been dubbed as being loaded with quality. Croatia appears to have one of the most interesting teams on paper. When play commenc....... After a 90 minutes run, the final whistle has been blown and Real Madrid has made it 3-1 to win for the 3rd time, the prestigious UEFA cup final. It was quite a dramatic encounter that left the score line at 0-0 at the end of 45 minutes of regulation time. This also marks the 13th overall time that Madrid has won the finals. The tide was changed however at the commencement of the 2nd half of play as both teams appeared to have found their rhythm and pace. The opening goal was far from befitting of the biggest game in club football.
