Yet, the majority of the gullible Nigerians are gonna still congratulate him. cool

Rubbish!
This is far from the truth, Ngozi went to the u.s in 1973 just after the civil war with no government help, she finished from harvard university magna cum laude(Highest Honours) . She worked at the world bank for 25 years. The Nigerian job was a retirement opportunity, she was already successful and her children were already americans, thanks

Just 188 grin. I can apply to 50 jobs at a go. In a month that's 1500. I am in IT Sha. Another 50 on indeed. Around 100 jobs a day.
i do not normally comment on this forum, but the applications the OP sent out are very minimal, in canada you do an average of 1500 in a month and might not get a job in 6 months, in the uk u might have to send out 3000 applications a month . All with several interviews and auto responses saying another candidate has been chosen. I am actually impressed you got any calls with such minimal effort

Unfortunately, I don't have an instructing job and currently not flying but I'll keep the hopes up and pray I will get a pilot job soon
You can apply to canada for permanent residence under the express entry system: NOC 2271: Air pilots, flight engineers and flying instructors. It takes some effort and you will need to show proof of funds.

I already have my instructors rating and have over 500 flight hours

I know spending more money can help to possibly secure a job but some of the ways I know will cost above $20,000 (₦7.2 mil) which I simply don't have
i understand , i have been through it, keep going on with instructing and try to get your atpl once you get the hours, i got on a cessna caravan before i could get a type on a Q400,i have several ratings now,All is in the past and i am happy i didnt give up, stay strong , do not lose motivation

Securing a pilot job in Nigeria is near impossible and I'm saying this as a commercial licensed pilot in Nigeria without a job even after obtaining my certificate of flight instructing and spending millions of Naira (sponsored) on building flight hours.

It feels like it was not worth pursuing and spending all that money on a dream that will be crushed by this country.

Anyone with a pilot job connections should please link me up. Willing to fly any type of plane (type rating required or not)
Most pilots have gone through this, sometimes you have to spend more money to be able to break the chain, would you be open to an instructors rating?Do you have a type rating?

What lessons exactly? How about you point out the lessons? The reality of the average Nigerian is different from the reality of Adenuga. The whole story does not provide any actionable insight for the average small business owner out there. It's just a tale of the son of a rich man who is bold enough to gamble. Even if he loses, he still got a fall back. I repeat, there is nothing to learn from the story.
I can tell you one or two lessons, the most important one that cut across Paddys bullshit story. There was a guy in the writeup called Edgar, he asked for his payment upfront, he was denied it, paddy later paid him double that when he needed him again.

Lesson1: know your worth, do not undervalue yourself.

Lesson 2: Don’t listen to naysayers, stick to your guts(if he had gone with his guts, he would have gone all in

Lesson 3: Don’t keep your cards to close to your chest, the next person might be your solution(he failed to involve his friend “Remi”)and that was the person with the solution.

Every other thing he said was bullshit

Hi everyone, i am not sure if this is the right thread, but i will try, i welcome all the new comers to canada, it is indeed a splendid place. I came to Canada in 2013 and recently bagged my canadian passport, i am a commercial pilot flying private planes based out of ottawa. I am writing this post as i intend returning to Nigeria, I will call it an invitation to swap lives if it makes sense..lol, i see a lot of people are moving to ottawa. I am looking for an opportunity for a house, car and furniture exchange. I am looking for a place in ikeja to be close to the airport. I stay in a modern 2 bedroom apartment with utilities etc. I am a bachelor and happy to go home so please do not try to convince me otherwise.my aim is to hit the ground running like i never left, any help is appreciated.

Hi All, Hot stepper especially

I have read through a good part of this thread. Thanks a million to those who have shared their experiences and stories of people that they know.

I am about 3 months gone. Fresh passport but want to go have my baby in CA with my two kids and mum.

Please
1) how do i go about applying for all of us and can anyone provide an estimate of how much funds I need to have in order to secure our visas.

2) I also do not have any close relation to stay with so I most likely would have to rent an apartment for at least two months (one/two bed, depending on the cost) - Please advise on best location in terms of affordability, quality care and ease of mobility so I can make up my mind

Your prompt response will be greatly appreciated.
For a place to stay, you should look at airbnb.ca, you will be able to find an apartment for a short stay near the hospital.if you will be in toronto,i can assist in helping you organise things a little.Good luck

Depends on your location, they usually approve join requests based on location.

Ottawa for instance has more than 10 groups. Schools also have their groups. There are also groups for specific categories like baby things, clothes etc. Some groups like Buy, Sell, Trade or Free Ottawa, Ottawa Black Market, Ottawa Student Market, Snowpie.ca Black market. Some of the things are even free. For instance, this was posted as free today, first come, first served.

Other cities have similar groups, try to search Facebook and send a join request.
I just stumbled on this thread, a very good place for furniture is kijiji.ca, you can go to the free section and look for items you like, many times the cost will be you picking up and transporting the item back to your home

exactly wat I was thinking
Lol a plane is cheaper to operate, small cessnas are used for sight seeing so it doesnt get too expensive, and i am a fixed wing pilot,i would not be self sponsoring anything in aviation again.
TravelRe: Ask A Pilot... by mosquitoway: 2:08pm On Jun 19, 2016
To my aviators in the house from Nigeria, i am just wondering what the fixed wing sector is like in Nigeria, are there single engine commercial operations in Nigeria at the moment? My dream would have been to buy a cessna and do sight seeing tours in nigeria. The airline operation gets a little monotonous after sometime flying the same routes etc,and in canada icing and deicing operations, and flying north can make one weary..lol

It doesn't mean you can't help us by talking to seun on the need for an Aviation Section, there's the Autos section and also a Car Talk section, there are tons of aviation professionals out there you know, if this thread or the thread about creating an Aviation Section hits the FP you'll see what we're talking about
I agree we should have an aviation section, but this thread is going on nicely as well,i have been looking on,i am also a commercial pilot in canada on the Q400.i am happy to see felow aviators here.lets keep talking

The cheapest place for flight training at this point is canada. The canadian dollar has lost value and you can get a cpl/multi ifr for about 35k canadian dollars.its cheaper than anywhere in europe,u.s or s.a

Essien, I've read quite a number of your posts on facebook. I give you kudos. Becoming a pilot has always been a challenge, like an insurmountable mountain, especially for those of us who weren't born with silver spoons. Trust me, I know what it feels like to have to think of money while you were expected to get your stuff right at the same time. I trained at NCAT Zaria, began my training without paying a single Kobo, all after I've heard only the rich kids could ever make it into the fence of NCAT. Like God works always, i was lucky to be among the few granted ETF scholarship to the tune of 5.1 million Naira. Afterwards, Stella Oduah came in as Aviation Minister and we all had to be chased to pay up our balances which mine was an ounstanding 2.5 million Naira. It was the most challenging and difficult period of my life, iit felt like raising 100 million Naira out of the blues, but then God as always made it possible for my uncle to stand in for me as a guarantor spreading my balance payment over 3 years, as a benefit of being an NCAT staff. As for job, it didn't show up until over 2 frustrating years. To the Glory of God, i fly the Q400 now with Nigeria's biggest airline ( yeah you guessed right).

The fact is 60% of pilots have similar stories but God in Hisinfinite mercy always has a way of rewarding our faith, hardwork and sacrifice.
Your job is just by the corner, but never stop praying.

Believe me, it's a very great privilege to #BeAPilot!
Congrats on the Q400, my story is very similar to Essiens as well,I got my cpl/me/ir in canada,it was a whirlwind journey but in the end brings a smile when we sit in our offices in the sky,I presently fly a king air here waiting to someday come home to my country and fly the environment I grew up in.Goodluck to aspiring pilots,May God provide for you favourable wind

Hi guys... Any ideas on this?.. I am rounding up a 1 year program by August 2015 and my study permit expires by December 2015, can I start my 2nd program by January instead of September(hoping to get 3 years work permit) .... I hope to apply for a study permit extension by September for a January start date(which takes about 2 months to process) .. Will there be an issue if I don't attend school from September to December ...? Technically I should have a holiday I guess .
Your holidays are July, august,September, and December ,it would take u 2weeks to renew online they get renewals done very fast. They would still give you a 3 months extra period after the date you state you would complete the program and that should cover up for that.and you can still attend your new school while your visa is in process.they know the tricks be careful
