Scan the vehicle first and post codes.

You may be having problems with your VVT system or your engine running lean.

Hello everyone, the radiator was removed and taken to where it was flushed. it came back looking very neat. the hose clamps and clips were all fastened after which water was added and the mechanic bleed it to remove air bubbles. He top it again to reach required levels. I drove the car arround for about 10mins, came back and parked the car. the mechanic inspected under the car for drops of water but found non. when the engine cool Abit he opened the radiator and behold the level of coolant has dropped and moved to fill up the reserve water tank.
He refilled the radiator and replaced the pressure cap and I drove it round again yet the same thing happened. Pls my fellow gurus what else should we do.

If your radiator and hoses checks fine, then you may have a water pump or top gasket leak.

When you start your car and it has fully warmed yp, rev the car to about 3000 rpm and check for white smoke.
Do this in the hot afternoon.

Oh yes! It is very important to match your car's Vin number to your brainbox part number.
This is due to the fact that a car model may be spec's differently from car to car ( e.g equipped with immobilizer, Equipped with VSC etc.)

It is usually best to buy new, but with available expertise you can get a good used one having a matching serial number with the one that was bad/ stolen.

You can contact Gazzuzz or Mayor2013 on this forum. There is another direct person I will refer you to if I remember his name.

my 2gr requires 5w-20 stamped on the oil cover and service history .
, the highlanders without tow package uses 5w-20 while majority uses 5w-30

A special Highlander for a special lady wink

As earlier post have mentioned , kindly check your valve cover gasket (the one at the rear close to the engine firewall)

Well, for easy to maintain and pocket friendly, i would stick between the CRV and the RAv4

But for the rav4, check for any sign of transmission trouble (harsh engagement in D or R, harsh shifting). Also check and ensure the temperature gauge is working properly.

For the CRV, Check the operation of the AC compressor.

Please my Acura MDX throttle just won't raise beyond 2000rpm after the first time and I noticed the ATF/Temp indicator light flashing when I try rasing it beyond the 2000rpm mark. This makes it loose power and have to gradually accelerate to avoid going beyond the 2000rpm mark.

I was managing the car after the first time my mechanic worked on it and everything seems normal again but suddenly it started again but this time with a jerking sound when I try to accelerate quickly.

I also noticed that it drains battery when parked for more than 2 to 3 days but no issue when I use the car at least daily.

What could be the problem? My mechanic seems not to know which sensor is faulty, he just kept saying is electrical.

Take your vehicle for a scan. You may be having problems with your gearbox, specifically your ATF oil temperature sensor or its wiring.
You also may be having electrical issues. Look for a good electrician to check it out.

Its alright sir. Just fix it properly(the overheating problem), monitor your gauges religiously, change oils and fliuds when due and you should be good to go.

Sorry for the mishap ma.

The 2gr-fe engine in your car requires 5w-30 wink

and also, you obviously need to inspect and confirm source of leaks, given the attached pictures.

As this car uses Electric power steering, power steering fluid is ruled out.

Finally confirm the the oil cooler pipe is not the rubber hose type, if it is then it might be a culprit also, given the mileage of your car.

I would advise you dont drive the car for now till this is sorted out.

Why are people afraid of anything V6?

Why are mechanics always advicing against V6?

I4 is actually 4 cylinders arranged in a straight line. this is the one of the most common engine configurations due to it's simplicity in design and manufacture. its firing order is usually 1-3-4-2

The v6 engine is actually a 6 cylinder engine that has two banks of 3 cylinders having a "v" configuration usually spaced at 60 degrees(or 90 degrees in the case of some engines found in the Benzes of the 98-05 era). this engine is usually more powerful ( from a naturally aspirated standpoint) and smother to run due to the increased number of cylinders. It is usally more favoured when more power is desired, but at the cost of a slightly higher fuel consumption. its firing order is usually 1-5-3-6-2-4

People are usually afraid of the v6 engine due to one reason : Running cost (fuel consumption). But in reality this may be just a myth as some v6 engines (particularly that from Toyota) can be as efficient as the 4 cylinder variant if your car is driven sensibly.

The advantages of V6? Plenty! It is more robust, ruggedly built and in most cases last much longer than the I4 counterpart. This is due to less engine strain as a typical V6 engine can deliver more power output and torque at lower rpms. And for me, the sweetest aspect is that it is a lot more balanced (less engine vibration) compared to a 4 cylinder (of similar output, for instance)

Most mechanics dont like headache(they are lazy). They would rather prefer the easy way out grin

check spare tyre. Some systems are equipped with 5tyre sensor readouts. Ensure spare tyre has 32psi

If it is the small sized (donut) spare tire, It is usually rated at 60 PSI. That is why when your spare tire is fitted, speed is limited to about 80 KM/h. wink

Unless a car specifically States synthetic, it's not necessary. Just be aware that conventional is typically 3000 miles/3 months and synthetic is typically 5,000 miles/6 months whichever comes first. Most modern cars will tell you when they need one.

More important is using the right oil and regular filter changes. And 3...2....1...

Conventional(or mineral) will require more frequent changes (usually 3k miles) compared to synthetic blend. Frequency of oil changes is even lesser with Fully synthetic.

The Steering angle sensor works with your Vehicle stability control (VSC) system which in simple terms prevents you from spinning out of control when you negotiate a sharp bend or corner at high speed due to excessive (or not enough) steering input. It does this by selectively braking specific wheels to either avoid over-steer (fishtailing ) or under-steer.

It is important you fix the problem (likely a calibration problem) because this will disable your VSC system (your VSC light will be on). Did you recently do an alignment work that required them to remove your steering wheel?

Sir, which, between 2006 Rav4 and 2007 CRV, would you recommend in terms of general performance.

There are both direct competitors.
They will both serve very well.

Watch out for excessive oil consumption concerns for the rav4 4 cyl.
Weak suspension is another concern for the Rav4.

I would love the Honda, Personally.
