Obagoblog:
Guys, please I need your advice and guidance..

I'm very good in html and Css but I'm having problem with javascript. I don't seem to get it even with loads of video tutorial from YouTube and udemy. Maybe, it's because this is a real programming language unlike html and Css that happens to be an ordinary markup language and styling sheet...

Please, is it possible to learn this stuff myself coupled with the fact that I'm still in school with some crazy assignments and test ready for me?

Or I should look for money and go learn it at an ICT centre?

Note: I'm a computer science student currently being taught C++ as one of our courses but my lecturer is only teaching us what to write to pass her test and exams.
Hi, I'd first of all tell you that i really understand your plight, cos I've been there before.
But, i just want to make one thing clear, "Everything that is worth it, life makes it hard to learn".

I'd now try to answer your question

JavaScript is a difficult language to learn esp for beginners, cos of the fact that most programmers (esp) web developers learn JavaScript as their first Programming language....Going to an I.C.T center believe me, will do you no good, Programming happens to be one of those skills that requires constant practice, You just need constant practice, again i must say that "Programming is not Computer Science"...Yeah, you heard me right...Programming is only a subset of Computer Science...Your lecturers are not paid to teach you Programming, they are paid to teach you "Computer Science"- teaches you how to solve computable problems using algorithms, and that is what Computer Science lecturers teach.

and again "crazy assignments and test" is not an excuse, I'm currently in my 300L as a Physics Student , I've been programming since 2015, i code like everyday.

Paystack charges the merchant
not the end-user (saver).
The merchant will make money via turnover
depending on volumes of users plus fees.
If the users are quite small, then it's a loss already. so profit will be determined by volume of users
Well, i don't think you get what i just said, let me give an illustration

just imagine your service cost N100 and Paystack charges you 1.5%(which is N1.5) as a merchant
for that N100 service that was purchased, that means you're left with N98.5

what do you think I'd do as a business man, that wants to make profit??

well it's simple. I'd simply charge the user N101.5
Now the user pays for the Paystack charge. and you're left with your N100, at the end the users are the one that gets to pay for the Paystack charges.

Paystack should be able to handle this
i think that would be a bad option, cos paystack charges 1.5% for transactions <= 2500, && 1.5% + 100 for transactions above 2500,
so imagine someone wants to deposit 100,000 into his/her piggybank account, that means, you the merchant would charge the user 101600, which doesn't sound like saving to me.

I'm working on a very large text with email addresses scattered. I need to make a compilation of all the email addresses and tried to use the FIND command with the wildcard. I used this little lines of strings [A-z,0-9]{1,}\@[A-z,0-9,\.]{1,} and this highlighted all the email addresses on the page but I discovered some complications. This particular one is highlighting all e-mail addresses but having problem with email addresses with special character. Eg. It highlights an email address like Nairaland@yahoo.com but if it sees an email address like naira-land@yahoo.com, it starts highlighting from land@yahoo.com ignoring the naira.

I've changed some numbers and added special characters but face other problems. Can someone help me write a more complete code that can find all the email addresses including those with special characters? Where do I need to add more numbers or special characters? Please I need this urgently to hasten my completion of this project.
Try this regex....

/^([a-zA-Z0-9_\-\._]+)@([a-zA-Z0-9_\-\._]+)\.([a-zA-Z0-9_\-\.]{2,5})$/

Nice development, but what if their price changes are you gonna keep calling the stores to ask for the new price , or it automatically updates it's self when detected ?
It's automatic....What the website does is crawl through those E-commerce websites...so, no need to update anything
RomanceGuys What Do You Think Of This Idea by MountainView(op): 12:28am On Jan 09, 2019
What do you think about the existence of a platform that tells you what retail outlet(be it a supermarket, store or shop) that sells a specific item and at what price. Therefore you won't have to jump from one place to another asking if they sell itemX and at what price.

I've already built a demo version of it http://omoba.epizy.com

Please guys i would like to hear from Y'all

Javascript and php serves two different purposes. JS is client side while php is server side. You cannot directly perform a CRUD in database using just JS. Php works with server. Meaning you must either be on local server or live server but JS can work on browser without a server... So to answer you question, Learn both but one after the other.
Bro,with all due respect i don't think you're a developer.i don't think you've ever heard of such thing as "Node.js", better get your facts right, before coming here to pour out your ignorant thoughts.

Your site is perfect, I love it... But how will I compare two products..

And also, how did you go about the crawling with php
Thanks for your review i really appreciate it.

as for the crawling , it's not as complicated as you may think, i won't go about all the details here,
but just know that, PHP is much more powerful than you may think.

hello Nairalanders, i really need an advice about a side project i had been working on for a very long time now, it's a website that compares the price of products in Nigeria in the most convenient way possible, i want to know if it will be safe to take this website into production and take it as a full business (right now what i have is a beta test http://omoba.epizy.com) , i know the fact that, it has the potential to be very profitable in the nearest future , i just don't want to take that risk, and at the end, everything comes crashing on ma shoulder, so guys please i just need your advice.

Building a complete native app for it would be a pain in the ass, I'd rather serve it as webview to native users.... or don't you think so?

Thanks, I've addressed the issue, the problem was that olx does not have dettol or nivea for sale, so it didn't bother checking any other E-commerce website... But i just fixed the problem.

Thanks a lot, for your observation!
