12:08: Senators asked Mr. Udoma, former chief whip of the upper chamber, to bow and go. He exited. 12: 10: Former Ekiti Governor, Kayode Fayemi, moves in for screening. He is currently talking about his antecedents. 12:12: Mr. Fayemi talked about his work in journalism, academics, governorship of Ekiti state, and contribution to the victory of the APC in the last elections. 12: 15: Senators Sola Adeyeye, Shehu Sani and Andy Uba asked the nominee questions about his stewardship in Ekiti State, especially the allegation that he left a heavy debt burden for Ekiti state, and that he spent billions building a magnificent Government House. He was also asked about his operation of an illegal radio, Radio Kudirat, during the Abacha days, and why he escaped Nigeria through unconventional borders. 12:20: Mr. Fayemi answered, saying he served well and that the Government House he built is for the people of Ekiti. He said he built the complex because the state never had a befitting Government House. He said at N2.5 billion, it’s perhaps the cheapest Government House in Nigeria today. “I’m not given to irresponsible behaviour,” he said https://centurynewsngr./ |
Few months back, Jonathan supporters told us in one of their campaign advertisement that throughout history, change has never been easy! They told Us that It was not easy for Dr martin Luther king,It was not easy for prime minister lee kaun yew who transformed singapore from third world to first world,It was not easy for nelson mandela It was not easy for barrack obama.Nothing worth while ever is, they concluded that Dr Martin luther king did it!Prime minister Lee kuan Yew did it!Nelson Mandela did it!Barrack Obama did it!Since Goodluck Ebele jonathan failed and lost, they are now signing another song that change is the easiest thing on earth. Oliseh metuh on ChannelsTV early morning programme Sunrise daily this morning said that Change is easy and President buhari haven't achieved anything since May29. President buhari is building a new democracy and government,he's not a magician. He can't transform Nigeria within months. The same change that is not easy during their time is now easy just because they are no longer in charge. To all the wailers, kindly allow this government to use 1 or 2yr before you start criticising.

The family of a deceased woman has suspended her burial rites until her ‘husband’ who she was cohabiting with performs her wedding rites. The woman Chinyere Mbam was been bitten to death by a snake while returning from the wake-keep of her friend, Oge Ogashi who passed on. She was taken to a traditional healing home in the area for treatment and thereafter back to the husband’s home where she gave up the ghost when she could not respond to the treatment. Her uncle, Ishiali Ikwe confirmed her death. But the deceased’s family have mandated his ‘husband’ Stephen Mbam of Enyi Igwe village Ezzainyimagu community in Izzi local government area of Ebonyi State, to carry out her traditional marriage rites before she is buried. It was gathered that the woman had been co-habiting with Stephen for three years and their relationship produced a child even though he did not fulfill her marriage rites. According to the Uncle, the family has put the burial on hold until Mbam performs traditional marriage on the deceased. He further said that Mbam’s family, in line with the tradition of the land, have scheduled a date for payment of the bride price to be preceded by the wedding. https://centurynewsngr./2015/10/12/culture-man-to-wed-late-wife-in-ebonyi-state/ |

The presidency last night said a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, is not under watch by any security agency. It dismissed any reports of strained relationship between President Muhammadu Buhari and Asiwaju Tinubu. It said it was unaware of any plot against Buhari by Tinubu. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, who made the clarifications in a statement in Abuja, said such insinuations by a newspaper were products of perverted logic. The government warned Nigerians against falling victims of such mischief. Shehu said: “The attention of the presidency has been drawn to a false and sensational story by a leading newspaper to the effect that a pillar of the governing party, the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is “under security watch over alleged plot against Buhari.” “Nigerians are hereby advised to ignore this story because it is false and baseless. We wish to confirm without any equivocation that the Asiwaju is not of any particular interest to any arm of the security services. “The relationship between him and the president cannot be better than it is at the moment. “According to the perverted logic of the newspaper, the respected leader of the APC is into a plot against the leader of the country. The presidency is unaware of any such plots against the President.” Shehu explained that heads of security agencies in the country confirmed that they were unaware of Tinubu being under surveillance. Shehu added: “I got on the phone a short while ago with General Babagana Munguno, (rtd), the National Security Adviser and the Director-General of the SSS, Lawal Daura who both dismissed the published reports as acts of pure mischief. They are not aware of the Asiwaju being on any kind of watch. “It would appear that a competition is on between two or three newspaper establishments on how best to breach the excellent relationship between the pillars of our party and government. “So far, they have not made a headway and there is no indication that they will succeed in the future. “It suffices to say that such reports, written without fairness and balance can only take away from whatever is left of the credibility of these newspapers. The general public is hereby advised to ignore them on these reports.” https://centurynewsngr./2015/10/11/im-not-fighting-tinubu-says-buhari/ |

Diepreye Alamieyeseigha was born in 16 November 1952 in Amassoma , Ogboin North Local Government Area, Bayelsa State. He attended the Bishop Dimeari Grammar School, Yenagoa . He joined the Nigerian Defence Academy as a Cadet Officer in 1974, then joined the Nigerian Air Force, where he served in the department of Logistics and Supply. He held various air force positions in Enugu, Markurdi , Kaduna and Ikeja. Alamieyeseigha retired from the air force in 1992 as a Squadron Leader. After leaving the air force he became the Sole Administrator of Pabod Supplies Port Harcourt. Later he became Head of Budget, Planning, Research and Development of the National Fertiliser Company (NAFCON). Diepreye Alamieyeseigha was impeached on allegations of corruption on 9 December 2005. Governor of Bayelsa State Diepreye Alamieyeseigha was elected Governor of Bayelsa State in May 1999 as a member of the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP). He was re-elected in 2003. Vice President Atiku Abubakar attended the March 2003 event that kicked of his campaign for reelection in 2003. Corruption charges United Kingdom Diepreye Alamieyeseigha was detained in London on charges of money laundering in September 2005. At the time of his arrest, Metropolitan police found about £1m in cash in his London home. Later they found a total of £1.8m ($3.2m) in cash and bank accounts. He has been found to own real estate in London worth an alleged £10 million. [ citation needed ] His state's monthly federal allocation for the last six years has been in the order of £32 million. He jumped bail in December 2005 from the United Kingdom by allegedly disguising himself as a woman, though Alamieyeseigha denies this claim. Nigeria On July 26, 2007, Alamieyeseigha pleaded guilty before a Nigerian court to six charges and was sentenced to two years in prison on each charge; however, because the sentences were set to run concurrently and the time was counted from the point of his arrest nearly two years before the sentences, his actual sentence was relatively short. Many of his assets were ordered to be forfeited to the Bayelsa state government. According to Alamieyeseigha, he only pled guilty due to his age and would have fought the charges had he been younger. On July 27, just hours after being taken to prison, he was released due to time already served. In April 2009, Alamieyeseigha pledged a donation of 3,000,000 Naira to the Akassa Development Foundation . In December 2009, the federal government hired a British law firm to help dispose of four expensive properties acquired by Alamieyeseigha in London . Alamieyeseigha had bought one of these properties for £1,750,000.00 in July 2003, paying in cash. Diepreye Solomon Peter Alamieyeseigha used it as his London residence, and as the registered office of Solomon and Peters Inc. United States On June 28, 2012, the United States (US) Department of Justice (DoJ) announced that it had executed an asset forfeiture order on $401,931 in a Massachusetts brokerage fund, traceable to Alamieyeseigha. US prosecutors filed court papers in April 2011 targeting the Massachusetts brokerage fund and a $600,000 Maryland home, which they alleged were the proceeds of corruption. A motion for default judgement and civil forfeiture was granted by a Massachusetts federal district judge in early June 2012. The forfeiture order was the first to be made under the DoJ’s fledgling Kleptocracy Asset Recovery Initiative. Pardon On 12 March 2013, Alamieyeseigha was pardoned by President Goodluck Jonathan , but his pardoning was criticised by many. Death On the 10th of October, 2015, he reportedly died at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, after a brief illness. Wikipedia

Diezani Alison-Madueke is receiving treatment for cancer in the United Kingdom, her lawyer told SaharaReporters on Thursday. Mr. Oscar Onwudiwe said in a statement written exclusively for SaharaReporters that the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, who was arrested last week in London on corruption-related offences, began the treatment for cancer in the UK while she was in office. Although he did not say what form of cancer she was diagnosed with, he added, “The health crisis has unfortunately exacerbated in recent times.” For most of her tenure in Petroleum, Mrs. Alison-Madueke was the subject of unflattering investigations by the media, some of them reporting her lavish champagne-and-chartered jet lifestyle. She was also the subject of investigations in the federal legislature, but she continued to deny being involved in any corrupt deals. She was reportedly trying to be trying to buy a luxury mansion in one of Britain’s most exclusive locations last week when she was arrested. SaharaReporters exclusively reported in May that Mrs. Alison-Madueke somehow booked herself on the same London-bound flight of then President-elect Muhammadu Buhari. During the First Class flight, she repeatedly tried to strike up a conversation with Buhari, who ignored her, according to reliable sources in the cabin. She has not returned to Nigeria since fleeing the country only a few days before President Buhari’s inauguration. It was reported at about the same time that the outgoing Petroleum Minister had said she was in the United Kingdom to receive medical treatment for cancer. In his statement, Mr. Onwudiwe said that her client underwent chemotherapy last week and is scheduled to undergo surgery next week. SaharaReporters could not independently confirm those statements. Alison-Madueke was arrested along with four other people on Friday October 2nd by the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) for bribery and money laundering. The agency confirmed her arrest. It further noted that she paid her bail and was released. On Monday this week at the Westminster Magistrates Court, the NCA said that it had also detained 27,000 pounds sterling from her. |
