NLANDERS!!! SHOW YOUR GENEROSITY AND GIVE THIS CHILD A CHANCE AT LIFE, any amount you can spare A three-year old boy, Farid Oyeleke, who is suffering from recurrent fever and neck swelling as a result of cancer of the blood would need N15 million and perhaps a stem cell transplantation to survive. "The boy's sickness started about six months ago when he started running high temperature. He was treated in many clinics but not much progress was recorded and he is currently receiving treatment at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH)," his father, Oyebode Oyeleke, said. According to Mr Oyeleke, "Initially we started treating malaria and typhoid but the ailments persisted and once he got slightly exposed to cold, he started coughing so much so that even an adult that coughs like that will not feel comfortable." He added that four months ago when his son's body temperature got so high, it became glaring that his medications were not effective. "We were admitted at a specialist hospital in Offa, in Kwara State for about a week. The temperature came down, we then came home but two weeks after that, the temperature really increased. He was also coughing. We attended another clinic at Offa for another treatment but it got worse." Mr Oyeleke narrated that it was only when his son was taken to UITH that the doctors diagnosed his ailment as cancer of the blood, adding that the doctors proceeded to transfuse blood into his son. "The doctors recommended he has high chances of survival if he is treated abroad preferably India because of the advancement in medicine, and affordable range. We need about N15 million for the medical bill and other expenses to be incurred for the treatment." Cancer of the blood According to one of the doctors at the teaching hospital, Olasunkami Adegboye, "the child has cancer of the blood and cannot withstand any stress of infection" Dr Adegboye also said that "there are three major aspects of the management: remission induction, then you consolidate on that and then subsequent maintenance that will take for two or three years' treatment," he said. The ill boy's father has made an appeal for Nigerians to come to his aid. He lamented, "I am appealing to Nigerians, public and private establishments, organisations, non governmental organisations and international agencies to please assist me save the life of my son. I do not have the means to cater for the expenses. I am just a farmer and people know how difficult the economic situation is in the country. I do not have the money and I do not even have the means to raise the money on my own." So far, the family has been able to raise only N500,000. I know couple of wealthy people that will rather donate to churches where their names will be annouced and people will start praising them.True philantropy is lacking in Nigeria and our so called politicians are not interested in doing anything for the common man.what they will say behind you is ''If everybody is rich, who will open the gate for them''. IF THAT BE THE CASE, WE SHOULD COMMENCE NAME PRAISING TO SPUR THE RICH WHEN THEY DONATE, START HERE ON NL |
And here was I thinking corruption is a "THIRD WORLD THING" U.S. Defense officials still cannot say what happened to $6.6 billion, sent by the planeload in cash and intended for Iraq's reconstruction after the start of the war Pentagon officials determined that one giant C-130 Hercules cargo plane could carry $2.4 billion in shrink-wrapped bricks of $100 bills. They sent an initial full planeload of cash, followed by 20 other flights to Iraq by May 2004 in a $12-billion haul that U.S. officials believe to be the biggest international cash airlift of all time. http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-missing-billions-20110613,0,4414060.story |
The eldest son of the late military head of state Sani Abacha, Mohammed Sani Abacha yesterday said his father would have checked the uprising of the Boko Haram if he were at the helm of affairs of the country today. Mr Abacha stated this yesterday shortly after prayers were offered for the repose of the soul of the late head of state. The prayer session was part of activities to mark the 13th anniversary of the demise of the ruler. He bemoaned the threat to security of lives and property across the country. "I'm sure if you go through your archives, one of the things he (Abacha) said he wanted to be remembered for was security. When he was in charge of this country, we all knew there was security," Mr Abacha said. "When I say security, I mean it was very good security. There were no ethnic and religious violence. You could see security everywhere, on the highway and every aspect of our livelihood, we had good security. What is happening now is a very unfortunate thing but it is something we have to work on." Mr Abacha was speaking a day after Boko Haram detonated series of bombs in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, leading to the death of about ten persons. He also explained the absence of key personalities like former heads of states, Muhammadu Buhari, Abdulsalam Abubakar and Ibrahim Babangida at the event, saying the resolve by the Abacha family to celebrate it low key must have been responsible for their absence. He expressed his gratitude to hundreds of well-wishers that came to the Gidado Road residence of the late military ruler to grace the prayer session. |

Damn! what others were celebrating as a joyous day, is a day of personal failing to me. I have finally traded up my Nigerian citizenship and assumed a United State one. Hope my ancestors will understand my dilemma, the unnecessary death on our roads, the untimely passing at the hospital, the lack of quality public education and now the endless cycle of violence, either religious or political have finally driven that nail in. Besides my children may never come to live in my country of birth, the country that gave me a start with quality education that was publicly funded, that saw my mother give birth to me in a public hospital. i have struggled with this decision, but i have come to the conclusion that Nigeria will live on in my heart as long as i breath. |
It's 2010 and here comes the devil again. |
If PDP is not ready to even hand over to Jonathan a member of their own party, can Nigerian trust them to conduct a fair election or allow the opposition to take over if they win elections in 2011.? |
I have a 1998 528i ready to go in lagos |
Thanks so far people, I live in USA and cant travel out until Feb next year, that is when my leave starts,I need immediate intervention her dad is my last hope, since she lives with him I just don't know how to approach him with this, without embarrassing him with all the sordid details of our relationship. Her mother is deceased. |
Hey people i seriously need help! My wife moved home (abj) in 2005, because we had a strenuous relationship. I had a child out of wedlock anyway sha we've been trying to get together since then and she came to visit me in sept and i promised to change and I did. I write her love letters and copy nice poems to her e-mail and I encourage her to be open with me,since I do believe that communication help heal friction, we chat on line for hours. Oh yeah! she did tell me about her relationship with someone in Lagos that lasted for a year and just fizzled because the dude liked her much, but was not into her kids. I asked her if that relation ship will ever be a problem in us getting back and she said NO. Last two weeks i noticed she does not call me as before or even text me, I find her on line at 9.30am naija time which is not unusual except her internet service has been disconnected since Oct. I now asked her where she was this early to be on line and gave her the choice of home or cyber cafe, she chose the latter but because I knew she hated going to cafes and coupled with fact that I called her phone and she rushed me off and promised to call back and never did I naturally jumped into conclusion she was with another man and wrote to break up with her and she said it was fine and I should just worry about the kids. I now came to find out that she just started this new job that is taking her time and something that has to do with a prophet telling her to keep all her secret or whatever to her self that was why she did not share the news of her job with me. I JUST don't know what to do now since I broke up with her she has refused to acknowledge my calls or e-mail, I AM STILL IN LOVE WITH her ,but i think she is done with me or found someone else. What can I do to get her back ? |

Can anyone enlighten me why OBJ is afraid to sign the FOIA(freedom of information act) into law? The first reason, according to the President, is that he is opposed to the title of the Bill, which is 'Freedom of Information'. He said it should have been called the 'Right to Information Bill', insisting that he raised this issue with members of the National Assembly but that they refused to change the title. So what, if its called freedom and not Right. According the U S dept of justice definition The U.S. Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) is a law ensuring public access to U.S. government records. FOIA carries a presumption of disclosure; the burden is on the government - not the public - to substantiate why information may not be released. Upon written request, agencies of the United States government are required to disclose those records, unless they can be lawfully withheld from disclosure under one of nine specific exemptions in the FOIA. This right of access is ultimately enforceable in federal court. He quoted the president as saying that "the title of the Bill is very important as we can only talk of right to information and not freedom of information." Besides, the idea of freedom of information, according to Obasanjo, is imported "from somewhere".Any Nigerian Lawyer please explain this technical argument in layman term to me. The Right to Information Act 2005 (Act No. 22/2005)[1] is a law enacted by the Parliament of India giving citizens of India (except those in the State of Jammu and Kashmir who have their own special law) access to Government records. Under the terms of the Act, any person may request information from a "public authority" (a body of Government or instrumentality of State) which is required to reply expeditiously or within thirty days. The Act also requires every public authority to computerise their records for wide dissemination and to proactively publish certain categories of information so that the citizens need minimum recourse to request for information formally.http://www.guardiannewsngr.com/news/article04 |
So! if INEC WAS stupid enough to pass him, why should we bother. Most of them IWU,tinubu included have suspicious resume and degree anyway. |
This is double talkRead everything from the beginning and you will realize, I said they are the VP workers not Atiku. The position is entrenched in our constitution and not Atiku, they are attached to the VP office and we are going to have another VP soon, so why the turn over OR is being a domestic help now a political appointment? |
@ alabyemmy Just how does this affect Atiku? he can afford to hire twenty domestic help if he needs them, the poor fellows caught in this are the ones worst off, now they have to start looking for job because they were unfortunate to work in the VP section of aso rock. Poor them to think they were neutral in all this. |
What is the use paying them from hard earning tax payers when they and their boss do no work?they serve the V P not Atiku, the position of VP is recognized by our constitution and not the occupier. Atiku is just a bench warmer till another person takes over, so to have a turn over every election is as good as bringing politics into our civil service and do we even know what this does to their moral? now every C- servant will partake in election rigging making sure their BOSS retains his/her seat to keep their JOB. Monday on NTA when YAR'DUA visited state house (aso rock) POLICE MEN in uniform were shown singing winner oh oh oh winner, , its totally unprofessional when security agent display public solidarity in view of the world, shameful very shameful. what we had was an election not a war. |
I personally think that firing the domestic and clerks working in the V P office is a vindictive act, there is just no justifying it considering most of them are civil servant and really need the salary from their job. OBJ should be magnanimus in victory, after all they are still Nigerians and the winner takes all mentality has to stop. |
This is a glaring example of the massive rigging carried out by the ruling party. Only in Africa ![]() |
No one commits a crime with intent of being caught, so to assume PDP does not own those thump printed paper is been economic with the truth. THE world is looking at us. |
P D P lacks finesse, the way they going about stealing mandates the court will get them soon. Nigerians apathy to this issue bother me ![]() |
A trailer said to be carrying ballot boxes stuffed with thumprinted ballot papers allegedly in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the presidential and National Assembly elections was intercepted by soldiers in Kaduna yesterday. The vehicle, with registration number AA 765 FKA, was parked in the premises of the 1 Division of the Nigerian Army (1 DIV), Kawo, Kaduna, Kaduna State. http://www.tribune.com.ng/20042007/news/news4.html I guess we all know who the president is already , why waste our money in conducting an election that is rigged |
33 students were killed in Virginia and the whole country is thrown into tumult , with the governor and president addressing the the student body and here in Nigeria we have had over 40 plus death during the election and the whole country is business as usual. I ask, what is the value of the Naija citizen? Do one human loss mean anything to our government. |
this issue was debated on this forum https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?topic=35629.msg813238#msg813238 |
