Agbalowomeri:
What are you people talking
SEC wants to reduce cases of delisting as punishment to companies that break the rules. And we say its a good development but SEC should also consider punishing CEOs and chairmen of these companies as an alternative that would ensure better results in terms of corporate governance.

Boss you're right.
Taking the last AGM of Oando as a case study and even the event that happened after then, do you think shareholders can sack them. But if there's an act that says if your company result is delayed for more than a particular period of time or the result released is manipulated you're fired, we will see all these companies doing the needful. It will also build the confidence of the investors at large because there will be transparency.
O totally agree with you.To ensure that shareholders didn't have a say at AGMs, these companies employ diverse mechanisms like taking AGMs to ''Akwa Ibom''and holding AGMs in small halls that can only accommodate their friendly shareholders. The rest are left to fight and protest outside the venue. Oando and transcorp have done this before.

The CEO is answerable to the Board of directors. The directors are answerable to the shareholders. Shareholders should do their job and stop going to AGM to collect freebies! Shareholders have reps in the audit committee. They should make their presence felt!
That is how it should be, but unfortunately, its not so. the BOD members, including CEOs and chairmen will always rig the process to ensure that they have their way.

You harsh oo. CEO is an employee so why should his crime affects his ownership?

I think the shareholders should take more interest in the affairs of those companies. This is where the pension funds come in.
You and I know how difficult it is for shareholders to ensure good corporate governance and that in most, if not all cases if infractions, CEOs are often involved and benefit in chief.
See fbnh and diamond bank for instance, Oti used our money to run for Abia governorship. Onasanya former CEO of fbn gave out the huge npls for which the bank is suffering today, yet he lives large and free.
Oando shareholders will tell you that the only powers they have is power of protest.
The CEO remains more powerful than shareholders

SEC reveals plans to stop increasing de-listing of companies
https://nairametrics.com/sec-reveals-plans-to-stop-increasing-de-listing-of-companies/amp/?__twitter_impression=true
So Oando will not be delisted.
On a more serious note, I think SEC should consider the option of sanctioning CEOs whose companies are found wanting. For instance, Daar coms and japaul CEOs and chairmen should have been stripped of ownership of their respective firms which have over the years been run like private businesses rather than public quoted companies. This would serve more to encourage accountability and good corporate governance.

Sir, the writebacks are ok na. Gradually, banks are recovering their lost investments.

Even if you take out the writebacks, it will still leave PAT at N18b. This is N2b more than the 2017 Q1.
FBNH promised an over 20billion write back in their full year 2017 result. Just wondering how the result will look. Promise was made at q2 and q3 conference call.

We are still discussing this Japaul Coy again. Japaul's vessels are all on lease. The vessels are not owned by them.
http://allafrica.com/stories/201307081277.html They own vessels. Part of their business is leasing out those vessels of theirs to their clients.
Japaul has 9 vessels. That diamond loan was used to purchase their last 6vessels.

My stock pick for next week

Seplat- based on oil price rally, expansion of gas plant capacity, return to profitability, higher ROE and operating efficiency
Oando- based on oil price rally and market sentiment... grin
HF- strong fundamentals, trading below its intrinsic value, profitability recovery and gradual growth in earnings
Transcorp- government favourable policy on power, increase in earnings generation driven by its power business line, low PE ratio and PEG
Diamond- possibility of div payment based on sale of subsidiary, low NPLs among tier 2 banks, market repositioning, etc

DD strongly advised.... grin
If you add fcmb(based on excellent q1 2018) you would have named the four stocks in my portfolio(I don't have seplat) But I doubt if diamond will pay any kobo as dividend.

Deadlytruth:
When you announced this action you took all those who responded were of the opinion that you committed a deadly blunder against the hope that it would get to N50 on a straight line. But after Mr. Market proved you right just the next day, none of them returned to eat their words or commrnend your smartness. Such is NSEMPA and life generally. That all the more proves the need to be oneself always irrespective of the what the world says.
However, I need lectures from you on market timing as you seem to be a guru at it.
Mr. Market did not prove him right. He offloaded at 9.15. Share price is presently 9.65. The rally ain't over yet. We want more of his kind to offload before part two rally. You will be surprised at what would happen when the forensic audit ends in just a warning or a small fine.

- plans to pay interim dividend on Q1

#carryGo
https://www.proshareng.com/news/Stock%20%20Analyst%20Updates/SEPLAT-Reports-Q4-2017-Results-Records-Strong-Recovery-in-Profitability/38668
''In 2017, average production costs came in at US$6.0 per barrel compared with US$8.8/b in 2016. However, Seplat posted a PAT of US$271m, primarily driven by a tax credit of US$224m''
This result looks like lafarge 2016 result that saw tax credit making the result look like it was an excellent one until 2017 result exposed them. The result is to me, unsustainable.

with 33billion Japaul bad loan hanging on their neck ; what do you expect naa?
Go through Japaul financial statement and see that the said loan is not due for payment before you start saying bad loan.
Japaul used their vessels as security for the loan and the loan itself is categorised under loan due for payment within 1-5years but not within 1year.

@ all, I did not get any notification, but note that I visit the thread once in a while like once a week or two weeks.I have never been away but invisible most of the time.
I will need to follow nse back to back for like 3 months before I catch up of the trends.

When I get info on other fora I am active in , I come here to confirm, cos onegentle guy is always ahead with info.

On a lighter note, the short termers waiting for Zenith bank price to surge should rethink again. Zenith is in the habit of churning out good results , but the trend is that the price doesn't rally after result publication ( except that has changed now) . It is a trend for some years now.

#whatdoiknow?
Are you saying he should manage the dividend he got and just sell?
