Apparently SEPLAT did not pay the appropriate tax that they will now have to pay with interest.
I think Seplat has settled all debts to govt. They appear to even have a tax credit. Abi na me no understand this language on the screenshot?
I understood it to mean that the govt is owing Seplat in billions of Naira, rather than the other way round.

Maybe the company owes unremitted tax before
The are not owing the FG. They are being taxed at 85% of profit.

They need FG approval to transition to the PIB where they will be taxed at 65% of profit. I don't see FG giving such approval soon.

Either way, the tax is too much.

So fg don turn the money from them to another forex gain by banks join.
How else do we explain Profit before tax of 207 billion (over 1000% increase) turn to Profit after tax of 23 billion (just 200% increase)

Out of the 207 billion profit Seplat made in q1 FG took 184 billion while Seplat took only 23 billion.

So finally, USA strikes Iran. And Iran that we all know will surely react one way or the other. Hmmm. Oil prices may rise, fuel prices may rise too.
I hope this does not have any effect on inflation, tc stability and our consumer goods stocks.

CBN played a game and many positions takers understood the body language and did the needful
When I look at the level of insider dealings on Zenith that were posted, and considering that much more might not have been posted, my conclusion is that you are correct. A game was indeed played.

Reckless of the CBN or of the banks? They were sitting on a lot of stage II loans and acting as if everything was ok, it’s not reckless at all.
Although Zenith didn’t disclose the value of their forbearance, I have info that it’s almost 1 trillion and most of these banks I think it’s due to the Aiteo syndicated loan of about $2bn which they gave in 2014/2015. They all had exposure to them, so with the naira devaluation the naira value ballooned.
I don’t think the CBN has done anything reckless at all. I don’t even like or trust this disclosure from access because it hasn’t given any specific details at all
I don't have a problem with cleaning up the books. My problem has to do with the manner of it.
Like the recapitalisation request, he could simply have placed a deadline, afterall there was no imminent danger in the sector, as their second publication showed.
The winners are those that took positions, while those that rushed to sell- sorry for them

Access bank has also stated that it would meet up with the requirement on regulatory forbearance by June this year.

I just wonder how reckless a Central bank could be by making such ambiguous and confusing publication with care to the possible impact on the economy.
Sometime I think they do these things for personal reasons.

Oando would have risen if not for the Banking stock opportunities.
We said it earlier that any bear affecting the banking sector will go round.
The situation is even better than I thought.
I remember when sanisi was CBN governor. He brought his "risk management" background to the sector leading to overregulation of the sector.
Each policy of his that affected the sector had an all round effect until he finally took over some of those banks.
Thebgood thing about his was that he named and categorised banks. We knew the strong once and thise that were struggling...

GTb wey I dey target at 20% less the opening price.

It's unfortunate the country we live in.
A more developed country would ordinarily give proper information especially on the affected banks or even Cary out the process in such a manner as would not affect the market in a big way.

He's offering free logistics.
He's also offering credit guarantee of 2weeks for about 500,000litres purchase.
These companies can afford it..
they are MAJOR MARKETERS.
They should patronise him and reduce their Cost of sales undecided
The thing now is that those advantages bestowed by size, is lost. The big and small will now play on equal advantage.

If total sell 850, enjoy sell 850 and others sell at same price the name of the station becomes only cosmetic.

It's good for consumers. We can expect further lowering of prices of petroleum products(except that war in Iran will also lead to rise in prices of products)

InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Mpeace(m): 1:48pm On Jun 15, 2025
CBN has done more harm than good to Banking stocks investors. If they want the banks to be government owned and controlled, why can't they just say so.

It's unfortunate but more unfortunate that if there will be selloff, it will affect more than just the banking sector. It might go round.

Welcome to a bear week
