Raider76: In global trade Nigeria is a country not a region. Africa is the region. They are clearly divesting from the African region, in which Nigeria happens to be. Ok |

ghm: Read about it more here, it is not every time we should live in self pity for our country.
https://www.nairaland.com/8282715/holcim-sell-lafarge-africa-stake
The deal aligns with Holcim's strategy to streamline its portfolio and focus on high-growth regions, including the coming spin-off of its North American business, which remains on track for a U.S. listing in the first half of 2025.
"They sold in Tanzania and Uganda. The Chinese Company bought all these stakes and acquired Cement company in South Africa. Nothing new, it's about revaluating your portfolio for optimality" Although not stated. But from the excerpt you made above it is clear that they wanr to focus on high grow region. Nigeria appears to be the very opposite of a "high growth" region. Nigeria is very volatile at the moment. |

Sunrisepebble: Were thinking very similarly . The profit I’ve been calculating in my head last few weeks was working with N80 as the offer. If I can get another 10-15% on top of that I am very happy getting down at that bus stop By the rules of MTO, if you are able to push the price up to 200, they will have no choice but to offer the said 200 or more. |

Sunrisepebble: Still no details on my end to be honest. Either Majority shareholder being bought out or full acquisition. But it’s clear now that this was the information driving the attention I doubt if they will be calling for an EM and also closing the register if its just the Majority shareholding that is being bought. But only time will tell. 250 is my prayer. Make the blessings of this year complete. |

chimex38: Just after forecasting impact of geographic location of refinery.
New Refinery in Gombe https://punchng.com/fg-approves-licence-for-27000-barrels-refinery/ A refinery in Gombe how do they want to transport crude oil to Gombe? Tankers, air or what? Or can they afford to lay pipelines from the niger delta to Gombe? They think Dangote and BUA (kano born billionaires) no know why them site their refineries in Lagos and Portharcourt respectively? |

Raider76: 💯
Actually, if the government has any sense they will convert the Kaduna refinery into a depot to serve the north, then connect it to the Dangote refinery. Kaduna refinery is already connected to all the depots in the North by pipeline. This will hugely cut transport cost and road reconstruction costs. Anything pipeline is not good for business. They will just do some illegal connections on those pipelines and that is food for the boys. |

Xidget: #Observation
Most FA investors advised people to sell banks stocks 2months ago when price was low because of dilution from recapitalisation. And buy back at Q1 2025 when it will become cheaper.
Same people are encouraging people to buy now that price is high. Now, I am wondering, does the dilution not matter anymore? Some banks will be diluted far less than others. With the level off profits being declared by these banks, the dilutions may not have much effect. |

zendi: All the banks have done well so I hope that just releasing the result will help boost it over the #10 mark which it has been scared of for sometime now. If only they can drop 50kobo interim dividend. I just cross checked their publication and it appears they are in the process of auditing the result for q3. It has not even been transmitted to CBN. They gave 29th December as probable release date. |

Raider76: I think not only is NNPC (meaning the Federal Government) not interested in their 7.2% stake in the Dangote Refinery, but they are not interested in seeing the refinery itself survive. I think Alhaji better go and hire a crack team of international oil marketers to help him source global markets for his products so that he does not go bankrupt before 2027. lol. There are more responsible governments interested in the products. Like Ghana and Some of these neighbouring countries who have been buying from europe and smuggling products fron Nigeria, I only wonder why dangote keeps his focus on the Nigerian market. He should focus on export and see how Nigerians come beggening. Except if there is something we are not seeing. But something tells me Dangote only seeks to monopolise the sector. He first fought the regulators and government. Now he is after the marketers and competition. He says no one should be allowed to import so that he will be the dominant supplier. |
