You are wrong man except you want to continue courting for more deaths from the Nigerian Army.
Referendum is alien to the Nigerian constituted law and unless it is amended it can not be achieved.
Yes bro, the word referendum can be used in regards to the amendment of the constitution. Personally I am not a pro Biafra or IPOB individual but my stance is this - The FG had better be wise and take up the call for restructuring, failure to do that would result in the call for a national referendum and while it might not be constitutional, the international law and UN charter supports the call for self determination, Nigeria being a part of the international community and a part of the UN would have no choice but to adhere to the laws, failure to do so could result in the freezing of Nigeria's assets, countless embargoes (mind you our primary source of income is through exporting crude, we can't risk an embargo), excommunication, charges of war crimes the list is endless. Lets not even go there, I would like to believe that there are at least one or two people who still reason with their brain in the government so hopefully reason would prevail and the FG would play the ONLY CARD THEY HAVE NOW which is to agree to a national dialogue on restructuring.

What is a national referendum?

It seems the IPOB idiocy has caught up with you. Stop shouting referendum like an illiterate who just learnt the word on radio Biafra.

Referendum is just a tool that can be used for determining an unlimited number of questions.

So I ask again, is the question you desire to be answered allowed by the constitution of the federal republic?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-determination

Kai proper aboki man, see stupidity being exhibited at its finest. The international law (read here : http://www.un.org/en/sections/un-charter/chapter-i/index.html) states that every people or nation are ENTITLED to self determination (something the parasites would tag as secession), the international law is supreme in all ramifications to that of the laws of nations / countries, Nigeria is part of the international community / UN. So unless Nigeria decides to stupidly pull out of the UN, then I am afraid Nigeria has to adhere to these laws, so the Nigerian constitution cannot over ride the international law of self determination

Lesson one : served!

Lesson two: Cooking, look below

Secondly, look up the word referendum - there isn't a single definition of referendum

A referendum (plural referendums, see below) is a direct vote in which an entire electorate is invited to vote on a particular proposal. This may result in the adoption of a new law. In some countries, it is synonymous with a plebiscite or a vote on a ballot question.

Some definitions of 'plebiscite' suggest that it is a type of vote to change the constitution or government of a country.[1] However, some other countries define it differently. For example, Australia defines 'referendum' as a vote to change the constitution, and 'plebiscite' as a vote that does not affect the constitution.[2] In Ireland, the vote to adopt its constitution was called a "plebiscite", but a subsequent vote to amend the constitution is called a 'referendum', and so is a poll of the electorate on a non-constitutional bill.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Referendum#Referendums_by_country

In the Nigerian context, we can rightly say that referendum doesn't apply to constitutional amendment, why? because we use the term "constitutional amendment" in Nigeria whenever we want to amend the constitution! You and I both know what a referendum means in the Nigerian context, a referendum also means the same to the Catalans and numerous nations. Me and you no dey go ansarudden or almajiri school, Eagle and vulture no be the same lol. The proposal defines the referendum, In Nigeria we all know what the term "national referendum" stands for

Oya come and go and ask your Almajiri "intellectuals" for more propaganda fire power lol

Referendum on what exactly?

Referendum is just a tool, but what exactly is the purpose of this magical referendum you keep harping on?

Is it referendum to allow 3terms for the Governors and President?

Is it referendum to scrap the Senate and retain only the House of reps?

Is it referendum to change the national flag?

What is the purpose of your desired referendum and is that purpose allowed by the constitution?
Common sense would let you know what a National referendum means and the purpose of such referendum. There are only two options now and I know the parasites hate to hear this but its either

A. RESTRUCTURING

or

B. NATIONAL REFERENDUM!

So which Igbos have been making any call for referendum?

State their names and their political position that is representative of the region in Nigeria that wants to employ referendum to achieve secession.

State how they intend to achieve this call in the National Assembly?

Show me where secession which is the intention of such referendum, written in the constitution of the federal republic.

Or is referendum an objective, and not a tool to many objectives of which separation is just one of many.
The only card the Nigerian government has to play now is to agree to a national dialogue on restructuring and strictly adhere to the agreements of that dialogue, failure to do so would result in an unstoppable call for referendum, it cannot be stopped my friend. One way or another, the FG are in a very dicey situation, one could even say its checkmate. Things are looking interesting, #squeakybumtime cool

Heck,do you know how much effort Turkey has put into this diplomatically to see that it(the independence referendum) doesn't happen? Erdogan would rather die than seen an independent Kurdistan spring up just across the border in Iraq. Don't forget that the Kurds in Turkey have been agitating for independence for decades now. As far as Turkey is concerned, this referendum is a threat to Turkish sovereignty. Erdogan even asked the Kurds to suspend it but they just want to go ahead with it. They(the Kurds) feel cheated for a plethora of reasons. One of such reasons is the fact that the kurds are the 4th largest ethnic group in the middle East but have no independent State of their own and they are looking to right what they see as a historical wrong.
Exactly what I spoke about in my first post, some of these clowns here don't have a clue on how world politics work! Some clown actually tried to compare the Strength and Political influence of Nigeria to that of the Turkish nation. How laughable!

No one said anything about IPOB, this misconception that IPOB = Igbos is totally wrong. IPOB are just a minute fraction of the Igbos. The call for referendum in Nigeria is totally constitutional and if a region in Nigeria decides to have a referendum then NO one can stop them, Nigeria is not formidable, make no mistake!

A referendum would be a contingency plan in the event that the call for restructuring is disregarded by those parasitical elements in the Nation who bring little or nothing yet consume more than those who contribute the most!

If U.N can distance itself from the Kurds what of our brothers in the east cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy

This argument doesn't make any sense, for every Kurdistan, there's a Kosovo, South Sudan etc, the list is endless so we can't assume that any call for referendum in Nigeria wouldn't get the support of the UN just because the UN refused to support the Kurdish referendum . Kurds probably don't have their game plan right and lets not forget Iraq and Turkey are two countries that don't want the Kurds to gain independence, the UN can't be seen as an organisation siding the Kurds against the Turkish government, the Turks play a very important role in world politics, most people don't know this but besides Israel the strongest army in the Middle east is the Turkish army, it is imperative that the UN keeps Turkey as an ally.

The kurds are going up against a very formidable country and quite frankly, the Kurdish referendum is coming at an ill timed moment. They should have done their home work better.

THIS IS A POLITICAL ISSUE, NOT A RELIGIOUS ONE. EVERYONE SHOULD BE ABLE TO COMMENT ON THIS TOPIC. PLEASE MODS DON'T MOVE TO ISLAMIC SEGMENT LIKE YOU DID THE ONE HERE :

https://www.nairaland.com/4071341/opposition-sukuk-playing-dog-manger

OPPOSITION TO SUKUK: CAN IS PLAYING ‘DOG IN THE MANGER’

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) issued a press statement yesterday to protest against the Federal Government’s first ever sukuk (noninterest lease assets facilities) which was announced last week. The statement which was dated 19th September, 2017 was signed by CAN’s General Secretary, Rev. Dr. Musa Asake.

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) considers CAN’s position demeaning. It is not only infantile, petty and overbearing but also spiteful and egocentric.

Our position is based on the fact that CAN has all it needs in Nigeria today because the whole system is Christo-Western: education, the judicial system, the economy, everything. Muslims who were deprived of all their Islamic landmarks and ways of life by the colonialists are constrained to start the struggle all over again by demanding Shari’ah, use of hijab in schools, Islamic banks, sukuk, etc. It must be made clear ab initio that Nigerian Muslims had all these before the advent of the British colonialists who changed everything in favour of Christianity.

There is nothing the Muslims are demanding now that the Christians don’t have already on a platter of gold. It must also be stated that the Christians do not need the things that the Muslims are asking for. Why should somebody keep blocking his brother from getting his own share when he already has his own?

The fable of the dog in the manger is quite didactic in this regard. A British dog in the 13th century was fed with meat until its belly was full. Then the owner took hay (dry grass which only the horse needed and it is useless to the dog) and gave it to the horse. The dog had eaten and it was now the horse’s turn. Surprisingly, the dog started barking. It jumped on the hay and kept the horse at bay.

‘Dog in the manger’ has since become an English idiom. We must now ask CAN why it is playing dog in the manger. Shari‘ah is not for them but CAN screamed until the roofs nearly came down. OIC does not hurt any Christian but CAN shouted to high heavens. Hijab is for female Muslims alone but violent envy pushed CAN to shout itself hoarse. Islamic bank is for Muslims alone but CAN labeled it Islamisation of Nigeria. Can CAN give us a list of those who have been Islamised since Islamic banking started in the country? CAN leadership has become a professional false alarmist, a dog in the manger.

To reject the existence of sukuk pari passu with Islamic banking is like demanding that the agricultural sector should operate without bringing harvests to the markets or that hospitals should exist without pharmacies and laboratories. Having fought rigorously and bitterly against the establishment of the Islamic bank in Nigeria without success, our Christian neighbours seek to strangulate Islamic banks in the country.

We are constrained to ask, “How Christian is the Christian Association of Nigeria?” Every good Christian wants to be like Jesus and he turns this idea of emulating Jesus to a song. We have no doubt that CAN leaders also sing the song. But how sincere are they about emulating Jesus? Jesus says, “Love your neighbour according to thy self” (Mark 12:31) but CAN leaders do the exact opposite.

There are lots of good Christians in Nigeria and we interact very well but why must the petty ones always lead them? They are a belligerent lot, warlike and aggressive. Have they ever seen Muslims opposing a benefit going to Christians? We did not protest when you started going to Jerusalem even though we know that it is not mandatory for Christians. You enjoy Western banking system, Western education, common law, etc without any protest from us. Why is it that CAN always cries foul each time we seek parity?

CAN’s claim that sukuk is unconstitutional is false, baseless and misleading. How can laws made by the Federal Government be ultra vires? CAN is misleading Nigerian Christians. CAN should know what to do if it is unconstitutional. We challenge CAN to go to court today. It should not wait till tomorrow.

This was how CAN deceived Nigerians in 1999 when it said Shariah was unconstitutional and MURIC challenged it to go to court. They went to court of course but they beat a quick retreat. They withdrew the case when they found out the truth. But why heat up the polity all the time when you have the means of finding out the true status of sukuk? CAN likes making noise and we are enjoying our garrulous neighbour.

CAN calls sukuk a sectional religious financial policy but it forgets that the stock exchange has hitherto been monopolized by Christian-oriented bonds for decades and the Muslims did not complain for once. CAN loves to permanently marginalize Nigerian Muslims yet it is CAN that shouts ‘Islamisation’.

If it is true that sukuk implies Islamisation, then the stock exchange is imperialistic Christianisation. But almost the whole of Europe has embraced the sukuk industry. This includes France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Luxemburg and Britain. Paris EUROPLACE established sukuk as far back as 2007 and France has since established the Islamic Finance Commission. Germany issued its first sukuk in 2004. That was 13 years ago. Ireland’s sukuk assets amounted to 180 trillion euros by 2010. Luxemburg started using sukuk in 2002. Britain has been using Islamic banking since the 1990s and the Sanctuary Building Sukuk was launched in 2005. The United States Office of the Comptroller of the Currency recognized the ijarah and mubarahah more than 30 years ago! But has America been Islamised? According to Bloomberg LP, KFH Research, the global sukuk issuance as at 31st December 2013 was $135 billion but grew rapidly to $2.004 trillion by 2016.

These are verifiable facts if CAN would eschew its armchair leadership style. Even Google alone is enough but CAN leadership will not search. They are just interested in rabble-rousing and cantankerous razz-mataz. CAN should seek education. The Bible says “My people perish for lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6). CAN should stop misleading Nigerians and inciting Christians against their Muslim neighbours.

MURIC calls on Nigerian Christians to either ignore CAN or find out the truth by themselves each time CAN cries wolf. Afterall the Bible asks Christians to “Investigate everything but hold onto that which is the truth” (I Thessalonians 5:21). Don’t allow anybody to push you into violent behavior. Don’t allow anyone to make you hate your Muslim neighbour.

Let us eschew primordial sentiments. Sukuk is purely business. We advise Christians to take their destiny in their own hands instead of allowing warlike leaders to lead them into unnecessary confrontation with Muslims every time. We invite CAN leaders to eschew bitterness. We should be partners in lending the voice of reason to the national debate instead of constituting clerical nuisance to the Nigerian nation.

Before we round up, we advise CAN leadership to desist from giving religion a bad name. The word ‘religion’ is from the Latin word ‘religio’ meaning ‘to link’, ‘to tie’ or ‘to bind’. Therefore religion is about linking people together in love and sharing. It is not about dividing them. Religion is about love, forgiveness, tolerance, giving and taking. Let us be good examples for the young generation. Our constant bickering has led to too many religious crises. It has pushed our followers to the precipice of war and instigated them against one another. Why must we live together like two envious wives of the same husband when we should see ourselves as two sons of the same father? This is the etymological essence of religion.

There is no (real) battle for supremacy as far as music from the street goes.  Olamide  is the overlord and he reigns supreme while other indigenous rappers tussle for leftover titles. Olamide occupies the influential positions that there is in ‘street music’ – he is the ‘voice of the street’, ‘the King of street’  and  ‘baddest (perhaps greatest) guy ever liveth.’

Apparently, the  King of the street  is content with the territory he commands. On several occasions, he has maintained that he won’t go out of his way to appeal to the international community – indeed, but what if international success was freely given and not needing strategic planning or extra effort, would Olamide still say no to  awoof?

Olamide is taking a conservative approach to this international market penetration and it is understandable considering that it seems better to have an egg today than a hen tomorrow. Olamide has a firm grip on the local market but some observers believe he is not just ‘street material,’ they say he is Hollywood material and they would rather bet on him to ‘blow’ on the international scene than on Barcelona in an El-Classico match. MMG rapper,  Wale  is one of such persons and he seems to see an international worthiness in Olamide. Thus he has given the YBNL boss opportunities to make a claim for international exposure not even once nor twice, but multiple times even, yet the YBNL boss chose to stay ‘street’.

Here is a list of 5 times Olamide had the opportunity but failed to impress the international community:

Olamide’s near absence on the field of international march doesn’t seem to be resulting from lack of interest but a function of unsuccessful attempts and maybe due to his conservatism. However, his local content which he is best at creating, are beginning to find their way to the audience abroad. For instance, US producer  Swizz Beats made a good show grooving to  Wo! and maybe it’s a sign that Olamide would break into the international market but honestly, that seems beyond belief.

What street if I may ask? The streets of Lagos? The streets of Benin? The streets of Enugu? The streets of Port harcourt? The streets of Jos? The streets of Kano? The streets of Abia? Which of these streets is Olamide the king and over lord of? You can't sit in a tiny box somewhere in Lagos and declare some degenerate as the king of rap music in Nigeria. Some Northerners (who are actually known for putting out 100% real hip hop) haven't heard or don't really care for the trash music Olamide puts out, same can be said about the PH real hip hop music scene. The rest of the indigenous rappers scrapping for left overs? Say that about Yung Six in Benin or Phyno in the entire south east and get a resounding smack across your face! Stupid clowns think everything revolves around the waste land. You can't just make a stupid blanket statement that Olamide is king of rap just because you are his fan. This is why he keeps flunking and would never be an international artiste.

MARKone:
This man is so daft! So it is the creation of more states that will stop the visible marginalisation of the Igbos in today's polity. Very disappointed with this man.
The man na fool I swear. So the following doesn't matter to him:
1. The fact that the south east has no ports

2. The south easterners have to pay more in import duties to bring their goods in, sometimes these importers are victimised by the custom operatives who happen to be predominantly northerners. Goods amounting to millions in Naira seized for frivolous reasons (anyone remembers the ridiculous plastic rice episode last year? Customs seized tons of rice imports from Igbo traders during the Christmas festive season - Even though NAFDAC confirmed that there was no such thing as plastic rice!)

3. After going through all that hassle, we would then have to transport the goods to the east, where customs, FRSC and the Nigerian police would tax eastern business men to the last penny.

4. We would spend hours navigating the deplorable federal roads in the South East.

5. The fact the FG has deliberately refused to create a functional port in either rivers or Cross rivers, a port in either one of these states would make imports a lot easier for igbo traders but guess what? the Lagos import cartel along with the Northern Custom officers wouldn't see their egunje in that, so the FG has decided to keep playing politics with this issue.

6. The fact that the south easterners being predominantly Christians have become the easiest target for ANY religious uprising in the northern part of the country, A cartoon gets published in Denmark, solution = Kill an Igbo man. Israel attacks Palestine, Solution = Kill an Igbo man! and when these atrocities happen the security operatives would either protect the attackers or turn a blind eye while easterners are killed in their hundreds.

7. The fact that the east receives less in federal allocation for capital projects.

I could go on and on. Its funny that someone like Kalu, with all his so called "political expertise" can't see the injustice that most if not all Nigerians (even the yorubas know but they would rather laugh about it) can see then you just have to wonder how bad the leadership crisis in the East actually is!

dainformant:
A Nigerian fraudster who threw a wallet full of bogus credit cards out of his window when officers of the National Crime Agency NCA officers arrived to arrest him has been jailed for two years and four months. Alexander Akinyele, 37, of Doncaster Place, Barrow-in-Furness, had earlier pleaded guilty to ten fraud offences, a Computer Misuse Act Offence and to possession of a false ID with intent.

According to the NCA, officers arrived at Akinyele’s home in August 2016. Moments before his arrest, Akinyele threw a wallet containing eight fraudulent credit and store cards and a forged driving licence out of a window.

The subsequent NCA investigation revealed he had possession of 500 valid usernames and passwords for online Sky accounts and the same number for BT accounts which he had bought on the internet.

During their search of Akinyele’s house, NCA officers found he had also stolen several peoples’ personal details, including those of a 74-year-old man, in order to set up bank and credit card accounts and to buy access to Netflix and Argos.

Sentencing him today at Preston Crown Court, Judge Heather Lloyd described Akinyele's criminal activity as "a persistent and serious offence."

NCA officer Andrew Shorrock said: “Akinyele used other people’s identities for financial gain, including that of a 74-year-old man. When Akinyele finally had to accept responsibility himself he resorted to really quite desperate measures, throwing evidence out of the window.

“The effect of ID fraud on victims, who are often the most vulnerable in our society, can last for a long time. But there are simple steps you can take to reduce your chances of being a victim.

This is exactly what Rotimi Amaechi wanted to do in Rivers state while he was governor by building those model schools. But due to politics of hate, Rivers indigenes deliberately allowed those facilities to damage without any maintenance whatsoever by his successors.

Science/Technology › Re: NigComSat-1, Nigeria's Satellite In The Orbit: What Is The Situation Now? by Mrchippychappy(m): 7:02pm On Aug 26, 2017
Well we have the great OBJ to thank for this satellite scam. His kinsmen wouldn't condemn his actions and would probably call him a saint, but just take a look at some of his "saintly" actions:

1. Billions of Naira spent on his Gas Turbines project, most of which ended up in His Ota Farm.
2. Transcorp scam
3. Haliburton scam - $74 million paid off to him
4. Seimens scam - $1.4billion
5. PHCN rebranding ended up costing the country billions of Naira. We all know how that rebranding turned out.
6. The re-branding / heart of Africa project : Nigeria lost billions of dollars in his re-branding scheme scam, public funds were mismanaged and were used for false advertising on CNN, Aljezerra etc

And last but not least, the satellite scam. Nigcom SAT-1 cost Nigeria $340million.

In most countries, these fellow would be languishing in Jail BUT hey, this is Nigeria and he is of a certain tribe, therefore his tribes men have an obligation to defend him. Today we have this criminal ministering from the pulpit of RCCG on a regular. This is indeed a funny country!
