Crime › Nigerian Militants 'kill 15 And Slit Throats' by Mrchippychappy(op): 11:13pm On Dec 30, 2012

Nigerian militants 'kill 15 and slit throats'

Suspected Islamist militants killed at least 15 Christians in northern Nigeria, slitting the throats of their victims, witnesses said.

The attack happened on Friday near Maiduguri, a stronghold of Islamist militants Boko Haram, but details were slow to emerge.

In a second attack, gunmen killed two people, including a policeman, and burnt down government buildings in Maiha, on the border with Cameroon.

No group has claimed responsibility.

In Musari, near Maiduguri, a school teacher told the Associated Press news agency that gunmen had gathered people into a group before massacring them.

The teacher said 15 people had died in the attack; many had had their throats slit.

Prisoners escape

An unnamed relief worker told Agence France-Presse: "From the information we gathered, the attackers broke into selected homes and slaughtered 15 people in their sleep."

"The victims were selected because they were all Christians, some of whom had moved into the neighbourhood from other parts of the city hit by Boko Haram attacks," the relief worker added.

The Nigerian military said it had arrested three people and seized weapons following the attack outside Maiduguri.

A military spokesman said just five people had been killed. Security officials routinely understate casualty figures in Nigeria.

In the attack in Maiha, also on Friday, suspected militants released 35 prisoners from a local prison before setting it on fire, prison and police officials said.

Violence linked to the Boko Haram insurgency - a group seeking to impose Islamic law on the country - has claimed hundreds of lives in 2012.

Six people died in an attack on a church on Christmas Day, while seven people were killed on Wednesday in Maiduguri, the city where Boko Haram launched its campaign in 2009.

Nigeria is divided between a mainly Muslim north and a Christian south.

PStylish: I disagree.

As for Yorubaland, I noticed lately that both factions of the OPC have been highly compromised from above.

Their leaders must have entered into an agreement with the FG to deliberately desist from fighting for Yorubas where and when the need arose.

To make matters worse, they have somehow been coerced to remain the leaders of the OPC factions so as to forestall the emergence of a radical, ruthless leader to fight the Yoruba cause.

I am sure they are being handsomely rewarded for these docile roles assigned them.

They must have signed these terms before they were let out of gaol.

Also, sometime in 2001, some Fulanis came forward to lay claim to Gani Adam's ancestry. There are indigenous Fulanis in his hometown and the title of their Oba is Zaki.It was published in the national dailies.
This was at the peak of his war against the Hausa/Fulani in the SW and Ilorin .The OPC had the nerves to invade Ilorin to dethrone the Fulani emir.Their effort failed though.
They said Gani Adams was only fighting himself since he was one of them.Gani Adams must have investigated their claims, found it authentic and undergone a change of heart.Blood is afterall thicker than water.

I believe the people of that area should take their destiny in their hands. They must be ready to fight or leave their town for the Fulani.

I cannot leave my town or place of residence to come and fight for somebody else.

If I am threatened in my domain, I'll valiantly fight back.

Even the Libyans fought in and for their various towns during the revolution.

All hail the Misrata fighters who took on the Ghaddafi forces head on even before NATO took sides with the NTC.

Some Yorubas are cowardly, no doubt. But some us are valiant men!!!

Why wouldn't they deport them when we have people like Abiodun david hacking into dead people's bank account , Taoreed Oladapo robbing 178 houses in Luton , England , Alabi Gbadebo a doctor in Ireland who's second profession is fraud / yahoo , Adeola thomas and his wife Abimbola involved in 3.8million pound scam in the UK . The list goes on and on , so why wouldn't they deported Nigerians in the UK . They are destroying the reputation of the country abroad.

honeric01: Nice win but i don't want to see that No 2 in the final 23 man list. just falling all over the pitch and hardly wins ball back as a defender.

I THINK DIKE should be tested more.

Nosa is our lost 10, i love the way the guy plays.. gaining more confidence as the days draw near.

Martins can't make this team

Ideye is another class.

Ejide is more solid presently than Enyeama.
Somehow I disagree. . . Still lacks confidence.
Good game.

But as someone said, this team needs more time to train together as a team. I still saw typical Nigerian errors here, so lots of work needs to be done.

And add RABIU IBRAHIM and LUKMAN HARUNA to the mix grin
We no need Midfielders again. . . We no get defense at all!

The defense is absolutely embarrassing! The Central defense is a mess!
