Anyone got an admission to UIS yet?

I hope you guys are not going through all these stress to study oil and gas related courses. If you are trying to study and oil and gas related course abeg abeg, perish that idea. A word is enough

Congratulations on being in one of the most sort after jobs in the UK, I moved to UK last year January on tier 2 Visa as Radiographer, I must say it is the best decision ever, I got 3 job offers, Southhampton, Manchester and Scunthorpe, after lots of enquiries, i decided to move to Scunny, because it is a cheaper and more economical place to start life in a foreign land, and i also had colleagues working there, In my almost 1 year plus here, i have achieved a lot of which in 10 years back home i would not have achieved, UK is the best place to practice Radiography in the world, here you can get to the highest level of this Profession, I am being sponsored by my Trust for postgraduate studies in Medical Ultrasound in University of leeds, about to buy a house, bought a new car, moved my family, got my UK driving license, etc. All i can say is, do your internship and learn very well, Luckily i also finished from UNICAL, we have one of the best Medical School graduates, From Nysc start your registration with HCPC, get it and start applying for jobs, get skype interviews, and by the time you are through with service you must have gotten a job and take it from there. In January 2018, I applied for a German tourist visa and in my application, I filled that I'm married (I'm not actually married). I submitted fake marriage certificate and child birth certificate. I was denied visa on the grounds that I do not have enough funds to take care of my stay in Germany.

Fast forward to 2020, I have a fiancee, a Nigerian/British citizen who is planning on coming back this September possibly after restriction is lifted on overseas travel for our wedding.

My question now is if she file for me as her hubby, will the UK embassy dig up my past details from the German tourist visa application about my supposed married status and child? And if they do, what will be my chances of getting the visa? Please, gurus in the house make una help a brother with advice.

They will not know. They don’t share visa application information. Only issue is your shengen record. you might have to avoid shengen countries until you get your passport.

Don’t go to tromso. Aim for better schools like NTNU, UIS or Oslo. Tromso is dead and no work.

Guys I read somewhere that after 3 years you get your PR. So basically your 2 year masters counts in the 3 years and also the 1 year job search visa counts as well.

So after that 3 years (Study visa + Job seeker visa) you get your PR? Is that correct?

Also, How long after PR can one get citizenship?

Hi All,
I am helping out a family member who is going to study in Norway. She has already been granted admission for an MSc programme and now require to transfer the living costs into the student bank account.

My questions are:
1. Once transferred, is the money readily accessible when she gets to Norway?
2. Can she decide to transfer it into another account or take out as much as she wants etc?
3. or even pay it back if part of it was a loan?
Or do restrictions on accessing the money apply.

Answers from anyone that has lived in Norway and has been through this process are welcome.

It takes like 2 weeks after registration for the money to be sent to you (according to what uis said, her uni might be diff) There is a limit to the transfer from the student account. I can speak for stavanger which is like 10k nok a week to be transferred to another norwegian account. I dont think you can transfer internationally from that student account (not so sure) because you cannot pay for stuff online with the card internationally or locally. But plenty restrictions with the student account just to ensure you are using that money for your upkeep in norway alone. maybe as you said having another norwegian account, transferring to it and then sending it back to naija can be a way but gradually because of the student account transfer limit. Anyone who lent her money should be patient.

Yes oh! honestly that 14k usd per semester tuition was too loud. But I had hope I could find a way, till norway came.

For the first time, electric cars in 2019 have outsold petrol cars in Norway due to govt incentives for electric car owners.

Shipping & ship building and the fishing industries are also very big industries in Norway. Norway makes millions of dollars yearly exporting dried stockfish alone to Nigeria and other African countries. A lot of procesed foods we eat are also locally produced in Norway.

Regarding a post oil era, the big local E & Ps such as Statoil are rebranding as energy companies, not just oil companies. Statoil is now Equinor with so much new investments in Wind Energy.

BTW, how did your US visa interview end up?

Sometimes I cannot help but continue to picture my future country (Norway's) future. They are one of the biggest oil and lng exporters in Europe and they are the highest buyers of electric cars as well, infact they want to be purely electric. Yes they have a large Sovereign wealth fund (Raw cash in savings used to invest in other businesses in other parts of the world like tech, real estate etc to generate revenue for the country) and all that and then they aren't so big in manufacturing anything (based on what i see online). Well they intend to produce oil for the next 50+ years till most cars in the world become electric and oil and gas is irrelevant, but although lng will still be relevant for maybe the next 100 years. So after that whats next for norway?. Whats the next big thing for them or what are they currently setting their eyes on? Please those in the country what are you seeing on ground, enlighten some of us. Let's talk of real life outside admission and masters.

I have an interest in taking an MSc in Tourism
I have a Choice between University of Stavanger (MSc International Hospitality and Management) and UIT Arctic University of Norway....in Trømso (MSc Tourism studies)
UIT ranks higher than Uis
Both curriculums are good

As much as they're both tuition free
I'll still have to deal with my living expenses


Like... transportation, accommodation, feeding, electricity bills, etc.



From my findings, accommodation is easier to get in Stavanger
Transportation...there are more options (bus, train, ferry, air)
Things are cheaper there
Uis is ranked 1151 in the world


But Trømso
UIT is ranked 505 or so
Fewer transportation options
Not sure about accommodation
More tourist sites to behold

So... Trømso has a better ranked university and more fun things to do with fewer transportation routes to get to neighbouring countries when compared to Stavanger


While Stavanger has Uis with a lesser ranking but cheaper cost of living (accommodation, transportation, food)

So please, is there anyone that has some experience living in trømso and/or Stavanger that can advise me on the way to go?

Well as for ranking, yes their schools aren't so high in the world university rankings. Norway is not a strong manufacturing or research country compared to other countries in Europe and Asia. They are majorly into oil and gas (lng) production. Then I think Fisheries. Going there for anything other than an oil and gas related course I am not so sure. Yes its one of the most beautiful countries in the world, def in top 10, but don't know what their tourist number count is, I'm sure you can google it. Just think of your plans after school and in my opinion since you want to be in tourism, take the language seriously when you get there.

What sort of email are you expecting? Stavanger has given out admissions already. I am in the international group where their are various students for the 2019 entry year from different countries currently interacting. But if someone doesn't pay the 5m within their deadlines or turns down their offers I think it will be reallocated so stay positive.

You want to pay your tuition in the US is too expensive , if you carry the 39000 dollars to Norway you can start something and again . I don't know your financial capability but the US embassy will be more concern about your 49000 dollars without funding . That will be the bone of contention between you and the VO.

Over 15 million naira to do your master . Be ready to be scrutinized.

The tuition is 14,500 per semester and I have 4 semesters. making it about 50K usd which is 18m. That is just tuition without upkeep and accommodation. Sense fall on me bro. I am picking the norway call. I have discussed with my family. I am not even going to the us visa interview. I no wan dent my record with rejection sef. Thanks for the advice.

I have been asking UIS for extension till I do my us visa interview (I told them I was on vacation away from the country), they replied and told me 3 weeks is what give, with the excuse that transfer takes 2 weeks to get to norway from nigeria. I asked till end of month they kept ignoring my emails after previously replying me sharp sharp. They say 3 weeks from date of admission. My admission was for the 1st of this month and 3 weeks should be like 21st and my usa visa interview date is 24th. This matter is somehow oh. Their shakara is too much. I know its a sort after program but why are they acting up. Abi make I just go there. My mind dey there sha as its a stronger program. Kai! What do you suggest. I no go lie that US tuition plenty sha ohh and the visa sef no be sure banker with an i20 of $49,000 per year with no funding .

I think they are taking less international students and more norwegians because the international students group I have not seen anyone for my pet geo program and only 2 guys for pet engineering.

Guys is it possible for my sponsor to liquidate her investment on a fixed deposit into her account this week and come with the fixed deposite bank statement and I take it for a visa interview end of the month. Please what do you guys think of this any issues?

Also when I add my 2 sponsors bank statement together it will amount to 50kusd in total and my i20 states 49k. Is there any issue with this?

Chase that US study visa hard. Norway should be your last option.

There are several factors to consider:

Visa: Your chance of getting a US study visa should be around 50% while you stand a 90% chance of getting a Norwegian study visa once you submit the required documents. No interview required. Simply submit and go home.
So if you don't want this year to elude your study aspirations, go with Norway.

Funding: If funding isn't an issue for you at all, then US is your better option for obvious reasons.

Stay back: Norway allows you a year on Job seekers visa to find a job, however you have to show them N10m of your money or an equivalent work contract to get the visa.

You have answered everything. Stavanger is the capital of oil in europe. Honestly its a privilege getting admitted out of 10 slots in uis. I know getting a job will be very high if I do things right. Are you currently in uis as well?

Jobs: It's not as before oil prices crashed but jobs are gradually picking up in Norway due to oil prices recovery. Experienced positions are booming again while graduate jobs are gradually showing up. However Norwegians and EU are apparent favorites for entry level jobs at the moment.
But several other non EUs including Nigerian have been lucky to get jobs after graduation last year.

My advice: Try and gather all required documents for Norway. Then if it's possible, try your luck with the US visa first. If you don't succeed at the interview, immediately apply for the Norwegian study permit towards the end of May. Norwegian Immigration commences processing study visas in June.

Lastly, ask your questions here so that other Nigerians can benefit while reading through.

They need 116k nok payment for visa. considering my admission for the same petroleum geocience in texas is 30k usd a year then 20k for upkeep which is 50k and 20m in naira per year and for 2 years 40m. Best case scenario 30 to 35m cos I dont have funding/scholarship

If I study and do things right I hope to secure a job within that 1 year. As I am reading online Stavanger is the oil and gas exploration capital of europe and I hope things fall into place.

Guys I got admission to study in UIS. Petroleum geoscience. I would like to know the job prospects after studies in norway. Is there post study work visa? I have an american university offer already but that one i have to pay for the tuition but as you know you can stay back after uni, but this uis offer is free tuition, Is it worth it? Please enlighten me
