A 46-year-old married man has been arrested for the murder of his girlfriend in Kirinyaga, Kenya.

The Suspect, Simon Maina allegedly went berserk on Tuesday night, May 24 in Ngurubani town and repeatedly stabbed his lover, Jackline Irungu, killing her on the spot following a dispute.

According to witnesses, the man and the woman arrived at their rented room on Tuesday evening.

While inside, the duo differed over unknown reasons and a bitter exchange of words ensued. It was then that the suspect took a knife and fatally attacked the 30-year-old woman who is a trader in town.

After the gruesome murder, the suspect locked the room from outside and called the area chief through his mobile phone and informed him that he had killed someone.

Shocked, The administrator rushed to the scene and found the suspect outside the lodging and alerted the police.

Moments later, police arrived and seized the suspect whom they whisked off to Wang'uru police station for questioning.

When the officers broke into the room they found the victim naked, lying in a pool of blood in bed and removed her body to the mortuary.

Confirming the incident, Mwea East Sub-county police boss Daniel Kitavi said the matter was being treated as murder.

He said investigations have commenced to establish the reasons the man eliminated his girlfriend in such a cruel manner.

"We would like to know why the suspect committed such a serious crime before a capital charge is preferred against him," he said.

Relatives who arrived at the scene shortly after the fatal attack, broke down and wept as the body of their daughter was being taken to the morgue.

Tebere ward MCA Gudson Muchina called on the authorities to investigate the incident and bring the culprit to face the law.

"It is bad to take away life of anyone and the officers should ensure the culprit is thoroughly investigated and punished according to the rule of law," he said.

President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele from his job, according to Intel region.

It was revealed that he may have been sacked in the early hours of Wednesday May 25.

His sack may not be unconnected to his ambition to succeed Buhari at the end of his tenure in 2023.

While there is nothing wrong with being ambitious with a presidential dream, Emefiele however flouted so many laws by declaring his interest to occupy the highest seat of power as a political appointee and wanted to remain as CBN governor without resigning his position to pursue his ambition.

After a public outcry by well meaning Nigerians, calling for his resignation shortly after a group of some faceless farmers purchased the N100m form of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for him and feigning ignorance of it, Emefiele would later approach a Federal High Court in Abuja to prevent the country’s electoral body Independent National Electoral Commission and the board of CBN rom disqualifying him from running for president.

Having failed to get the court to give judgment in his favour, Emefiele approached a Delta State High Court that eventually granted him his wish.

But in a curious twist, he withdrew the suit he filed against INEC and the Attorney-General of the Federation.

His exact reasons for withdrawing the suit remain unclear, but his counsel however explained that he prayed the court to discontinue the suit and make an order striking it out.

Buhari in response to the expression of interest by his appointees had ordered the resignation of every one of his cabinet members interested in vying for political offices in 2023.

Some of his appointees obeyed the order, many including the Godwin Emefiele failed to resign. Some who put in their resignation letters, withdrew them.

A Photo of the Woman and her four children killed by unknown gunmen in Anambra state has been shared online, Reports.

Reno who posted the photo online said the woman named Harira Jibril was in the state visiting some of her relatives when she was killed alongside her children in Isulo, Orumba North local government area of the state.

The children killed have been identified as Fatima, 9 , Khadija, 7, Hadiza, 5, and Zaituna, 2.
