Maria cried yesterday after a task because she didn't do so well and wasn't happy losing. It has nothing to do with pere..

But it started after the supposed compliment from Pere after the competition, which was their first conversation after some days.
So, it's safe to say that Pere stirred up the emotional rollercoaster ride of Maria which pushed her to cry.
You can't take Pere's factor out of it.
