@everyone dissing MTV I'm definitely not for the back door treatment but the thing is at least they're recognizing African artists. Our music just started to gather major international exposure like never b4. Now the reason the awards are given out that way might be that the present average MTV Europe award viewer might not necessarily be interested yet in that category. Everything in this world is mostly based on self advancement, believe me someone fought for them to create that category and people still need to keep fighting to be paid as much attention as others. We just need to prove we are worth the time slot allocated to us because everything, every minute is about money. Just a couple of yrs ago, for the Grammy awards, the hip hop category was not broadcast, i think it was actually not given out on stage and the artists kinda protested and right now hip hop is the biggest genre in music. There is MTV Base Africa right? I think they need to start they're own awards strictly for African artists. |
@all faze fans As tosineadeda said D'banj just won the MTV awards and since you guys know the activities of Kennis and their business of buying awards did they buy this 4 D'banj too? Hmmm I wonder!!! ![]() |
Congratulations to D'Banj!!!! He deserves it. I'm so happy for the Koko master. |
@Baro Wow I don't believe u were accusing me of not being able to understand simple english when u don't even know "stood out" could be used for positive as well as negative. Let me give u an example ( I don't belive I have to school u guys in english too) "The girl had a fresh face but the pimple on her forehead stood out". It does not mean its good all it means is that was the most noticeable thing. If u stand out among the crowd could mean u're naked. pheesayor:When there has been at least one more post more than my last reply it would help a lot if u could insert a quote to back your claim cos now I dunno what u r accusing me. Is it because I said you have to obviously promote a concert? OR is it because I said tuface went to foreign country and left all them in awe? Lemme know which one it is because I'm guessing all my arguments were quite clear. |
Couldn't have said it better moodylady. I'm just wondering if that dude could explain the way faze is more creative and enough with videos already. We're talking about music here and for real we should be giving props the South African directors that did the video |
young_digi:Oo wow that was fast thanx a lot |
@pheesayor Do u know u don't really have to reply if u don't have anything to say. What did your last post mean? What were you trying to explain? We would never agree on who is better but all we can do is to provide evidences to back our arguments. So tuface rocking another country is just another way to prove tuface's superiority. Pheesayor, please how old are you? I'm just asking to know what stage in life you're right now. Of course they had to promote the concert, a retarded promoter knows that. I've not been around for any THISDAY concert but I can only assume even they promoted it. Nobody sits at home to sell something. They didn't think "O because we have Beyonce or Diddy coming the tickets would sell themselves". Even if they promoted tuface there, what was the guarantee he would be successful? I'll tell u y he was. . . They loved his songs. You guys should stop this promoting stuff, there is no commercial artist on earth that doesn't do promotions. The only question for investors is "If I spend my money on this would I turn a profit?" This is all basic stuff. You guys should not act ignorant to come up with a comment. You guys really give Kennis way more props than they deserve, that company must be full of geniuses. You guys make them out be these people that even 50 cents' marketing team would be jealous of. By the way, the concert was said to be promoted by someone else theres proof backing that. Do not turn all your speculations into valid arguments which is what u do everytime. |
pheesayor:First things first, I said maybe they didn't want to PROMOTE any feud (past or present) didn't say anything about starting and if they've squashed their beef/feud thats the more reason they won't want to make a video to promote the song. I really don't know the reason, I'm just speculating so I'm not going to argue about that. This kennis music must have some powers I'm not aware of because even they were involved in the Barbados thing does that guarantee success? His album did well in that country because his songs rocked the airwaves. Obviously a concert like that is supposed to promote the artist. What was the point of that argument? If the demand wasn't there in the first place, there won't be a concert and even if there was it won't be such a monumental success. Just check out his welcome to the country and you'll see he had earned the status of an international superstar before arriving there |
Pls does anyone have Why Me (Rmx) Yahooze(Rmx) - The version he used for the video |
@Pheesayor So who told you 2face's album was released worldwide? His album has migrated all over the world just as D'banj and others has; word of mouth and demand. There is nothing stopping faze's album from doing well around the world if there's demand for it. In Barbados, tuface's concerts sold out and his album sold out because it got there by someone trying to promote him over there not Kennis. They started to play his songs on radio and he blew up big time. So its all about demand and supply. If people want it they'll get it. Unlike many of you faze fans that just throw "ifs" and "maybes" I have concrete proof to back my statement. If you need the link just lemme know and I'll gladly provide it. Infact just google "2face in Barbados" |
@sect The only thing I have with what u said earlier was "see me so" is not a hit anymore because they didn't make a video for it. Not making a video for a song doesn't stop it from being a hit maybe u meant they didn't make it a SINGLE. They probably had their reasons 4 not making the video, thats the song that caught my attention first too on the album. Even at that time my friend came down to see me and he was just scanning through the album until he heard "see me so" which he played like 4x back to back. Saying that I believe a lot of people too might have that reaction so the absence of a video does not stop it from being a hit. Maybe they didn't want to promote any kind of feud between him and his ex-group member (if thats really what the song is about) |
Oo warfy boy don't get carried away. I'm sure you must be so excited with your new discovery but that stuff is old even we on this thread have used that in the past and forgotten about it. Its obvious they've not updated that thing in a while. Do not get me wrong, I'm not saying even if they updated it tuface would be in the lead but its really old and so much has changed since then. Tuface fans don't generally come out to seek out approval for the guy because most of them don't even who faze is anyway. Don't let us start with websites talking about both of them here, Tuface would finish him. With all the polls, I wonder why Tuface is still in higher demand around the world. These polls u put up don't even prove anything, its just a select group of people coming to vote for their boy. Is faze holding 2007 down? Please!!! Yeah stick with your polls, I'll stick with whats happening in the real world. From the poll, people even voted for ruggedman than they did for 2face, how interesting. I have told u times without number go to their myspace page and check out fan support, those are the people that buy records those are the people that pay 4 concerts. Go to youtube and check out the number of views thats when u get a good representation. Go to major music websites and see if they know anyone called faze. Stop deceiving yourselves!!! From the same website you pulled up, faze was voted the least favorite musical act on the list. @Sect Now u're saying "see me so" is nice but you said he was a one hit wonder. You also said u thought the song was nice but since they didn't make a video for it. . . Just stick to something!!! I take that back, feel free to change your opinion when u see your mistakes. You keep saying u're not a 2face hater but u keep saying some things to the contrary. "2face is gradually fading out" from where? maybe from your playlist which is cool. Did you hear how he turned Barbados upside down where he attained an instant mega rockstar status and that was recent just before he got that award but u're looking at polls that have been forgotten about. Whatever works for you. @Baro I'm still waiting for an explanation o, since u said I shouldn't define what stood out means. I haven't been able to explain it. I'm sure u too went back and read what u wrote thats the reason u said I shouldn't define what I meant. @Pheesayor I'll tell u this once again, I can never hate on faze he simply has not just gotten to that level for me that I'll just hate on him for no reason but I'll criticize him. I love Infinity but if u ask me, I'll still criticize their videos, I love D'banj but I still criticize his videos sometimes not to talk of 2face that has some blunder or another in his videos. So for me to even take time to take a critical look at faze's video means the dude is doing something right. |
@sect LMAO. Tuface a one hit wonder? Then you come out and say u're not anti-tuface. How can anyone call tuface a one-hit wonder. There was not one single song on the first album that wasn't a hit. Then u said because they didn't make a video for "see me so" then the song is not nice anymore. Wow!!! Tuface a one hit wonder then faze is a no hit nobody. "Choreography made by primary school kids" what a laugh and I guess people that have Masters in Arts did faze's own right. Just because you do not understand the concept behind something doesn't mean u should just write whatever dance. Go do your research, thats called contemporary dance, one of the hardest genres of dancing. Maybe not done to the standards of experts but believe me it was better than all that hopping around faze was trying to do. @pheesayor U really don't have to dumb yourself down to support your people. Theres really not worth sacrificing your intelligence for pls do not take offence to what I just wrote down. That statement Baro wrote down didn't have anything to do with what u explained. If a tuface fan happens to write something stupid down, I try to avoid the person like a plague and not just support them because we share the same opinions @Moodylady I really do not have a problem with the kind of women in the video although we as a people tend to glorify all this oyinbo stuvs but as you said the dance really did not suit him. I'll say it once again, it seemed like a desperate attempt to appeal to the international crowd and in 2007 I think those dance moves are a lil bit out-dated for them too. |
@Moodylady Welcome!!! Also I agree with ur post on the other thread, we have said everything that needs to be said but these guys manage to come back with recycled excuses. At this point i'm just having fun arguing with these guys. If anyone can say we should look past overwhelming evidences and use trivial stuff then you can understand the reason it has become very entertaining to see what they'll come up with next. |
@Moodylady I had not read your posts b4 now and its almost as if we're saying the same thing. You might want to join the thread pheesayor posted earlier tho, I think u'll find it very interesting. |
@Baro what Please if not Baro can anyone else try to explain to me what he's trying to ask or his point because I think I basically said the same thing in all those quotes he inserted. |
@sect The dance used in 2face's "true love" cannot even be placed with a particular nationality or group of people. You guys might not agree with me but do you know why faze is not that successful? He doesn't bring anything new to to the table. He just takes what is there already and builds on it. He doesn't have any particular style we can identify as his own. Thats the reason when people that don't really listen to naija music might not know its him when he sings. A friend of mine sings along to "kpo kpo dipo" whenever she hears it, then I told her "o faze has made a video for the song" and her reply was "it was faze that sang that song?". He just blends into the crowd. Faze has what it takes to be bigger but it seems he's scared to take risks. Look at his videos, although nice, there was no attempt at originality. To me he took a safe route. Tuface's "true love" no matter the way u look at it was an attempt, even to the dance they did. Its better to take risks, fail and rise out of it and come out bigger and stronger than just playing safe all your life. The "kpo kpo dipo" it was almost as if they just watched a backstreet, omarion, or usher video and said "lets try to do that". Faze needs to create his own style, right now he just counts on his voice more than anything. Forget marketing or any other excuses u guys give about tuface, if faze doesn't create something original he's never going to catch up. Take a look at the guys doing well internationally, 2face, D'banj, Lagbaja, Femi Kuti (maybe he didn't create it but he represents it right now), etc have their own unique style to tell them apart from the crowd. I'm not abusing faze, its more of a friendly advice think about it yourselves. Why is faze not that big? Take kennis out of your mouth and u'll get the answer. D'banj is not under kennis and he's blowing up everywhere and he got nominated for an MTV award. |
@warfy boy lets not get carried away (i'm sure this is not the 1st time i'll tell u this). I was talking about the videos that in no way suggests I have changed my opinion about their music. You guys want to use these videos to show he's better and u guys won't agree to awards how does that sound to u? If you prefer to use the quality of music videos and not awards to judge musical artist then thats cool. Whatever works 4 u @Pheesayor Ok the "kpo kpo dipo" video looked like a desperate attempt to get to the international audience. You guys say tuface sold out for wearing a ghanian t-shirt but he still represents Africa, his dance moves represent Africa. Faze in that video was doing some washed out throwback Backstreet Boys type dance step, there is nothing Nigerian or African for that matter about that. If he was trying to do a dance video, i'm sorry but the choreography was poor. Then the video, although beautifully shot, didn't contain much. I couldn't tell what the theme of the video was |
@Baro Y do u always accuse people wrongly? When have I not given faze props where its due? What I do here is to show ways I think 2face is better. Take a look at my posts I do more of praising 2face than critcizing faze. I DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING AGAINST FAZE. In one of posts u'll see i said I put "faze alone" as one of my favorite videos on youtube and that was way back. For faze's videos I'll simply write down what I observe simple as that. You guys want to turn me anti-faze but I will not allow u guys to. I know u guys might be anti-tuface but just because I hold a different opinion from yours does not mean I take such an extreme stance @Pheesayor Honestly I can't give full props, I don't want to be pretentious because I'm trying to display good sportmanship. The videos were nice honestly but they took a safe route which is absolutely fine at least far better than a video like "For Instance" where they tried to do animation but they failed woefully. The video I liked the least though was "kpo kpo dipo" for some reasons and I can list the reasons later and u'll see if their truly genuine or not. |
@Lalaboi Can't wait 4 ur return man, its been long overdue ![]() @X-2-X You're welcome! |
Dekunle Fuji - No Lele http://www.esnips.com/doc/e3fc034a-04d1-4876-94d1-c9cfed33c8de/Dekunle-Fuji---No-Lele |
@X-2-X You'll find the "kolo" song there, hope its one you're looking 4 tho http://www.esnips.com/web/kayplingsBusinessFiles/?flush=1 |
I finally saw faze's videos online after I told my sis to help me bring it with her from naij, its all good tho, I'll just keep it as part of my video collection. The videos are truly nice and beautifully shot. I like the way the videos are simply shot in nice scenes. No attempt at visual effects so they don't even have a chance to go wrong. In kpo kpo dipo tho', it was lacking content a bit. Now after seeing the videos, you guys have to give 2face a little props for "If love is a crime" and "My Love". I know many might not like "true love" because of the cardboard stuvs but it was an attempt at creativity. Maybe next time, he should go the "faze route" and just do simple videos without all those effects. @zigbo Ok. faze's lyrics are hard to find and you guys make so much noise about the lyrics I thought maybe I was hearing wrong. @Pheesayor Hey thanx for that. Its a nice song, nice lyrics. Not in anyway better than my dude tho' @sect Sect you keep talking about "ACTS" like its such a bad thing. What do you think "best act" involves? First things first they give best act because they have only one category for African Artists so they have to combine it all into one. That makes the award even better and harder because it encompasses everything. You cannot win best act by one single song or a single thing, it has to be everything album, etc. Sect, its obvious u've not cared to watch "If love is a crime" well though i'm not necessarily a fan of videos that tell the stories almost word for word but that video was actually showing what he was singing about. The video actually captured everything, maybe u might have to think before understanding it but the director of the video knew what he was doing. I have written too much already but if u really don't want too think to much and want me to break it down for you next time just tell me. |
@zigbo the same faze fan tactic, speculations. Anyway I'm still waiting for faze's lyrics and I'm talking about anybody's best song from the new album |
young_digi:Yeah your time line is quite accurate but I won't want to go ahead and blame the artists because if we do that we could as well go back to the era of NWA and said they turned hip-hop violent. In the era of deathrow, some would also argue that they might have been a lil bit responsible for the demise too because it was a lot about drugs, violence, etc with minimal uplifting songs. Puffy, mase, jay-z, and so on came and lightened the whole hip-hop atmosphere which was widely accepted because here were rappers showing another aspect of the hip hop culture. I was a big fan of both eras as u put it. The main problem is the music industry, if its talking about money that makes money now, they want all their artists to talk about money. If its easy women then every rapper they sign must rap about that. Now its snap music and coming up with dances, now all they want to do is almost manufacture artists everyday with their snaps and dances. There has to be a balance in every type of topic to make hip-hop work. Thats the reason artists like Kanye, common. Lupe, talib. etc are like a breadth of fresh air. Kanye is so successful but difficult to imitate and thats what we need right now |
Look at pheesayor feeling like the saviour of faze fans. You try to make this "comeback" and your first arguments starts with "ifs". Y am i not surprised? I already said u faze fans are entertaining. If we heard faze's album we would know, kennis did not come to my front door to sell 2face's cd to me, the same way I heard 2face, i heard d'banj, same way I heard danfo driver, same way I heard Lord of Ajasa, Infinity, sasha, paul play, and so on. STOP giving all these "ifs". If faze's songs were interesting enough it would have spread the same all other songs spread all over America. STOP the excuses!!! By the way can any faze fan post the lyrics of your best song in Independent |
Oo ok I see your point |
Blame it on diddy and Jay-Z?? R u guys kidding? U guys should go back and do your research and find out these guys impact on hip-hop. I know the genre is taking a lot of blows but saying these guys are responsible is so far from the truth |
@debojyde & twinstaiye You guys men thanx for that but faze fans would never listen. I think I keep coming back here for their stories more than anything else. In my mind, I know tuface is better, there are overwhelming evidences, no matter how faze fans want to twist them. I honestly just enjoy the thread, faze fans excuses and stories are usually very ridiculous and funny. Whenever I see any of them have written I'm excited to read what they have to say this time. We all know in the real world we can't use hpothesis to argue which is what faze fans keep basing their arguments on with all their "ifs" & "maybes". Its all good tho!!! Faze fans keep 'em coming. Keep coming with ur excuses and imaginations while i keep replying u with facts. P.S. - Twinstaiye I so much agree with u in the sense that, faze fans should be thanking 2face for winning that award because if they like it or not, that award put naija music on the map. One of the results is faze signing to Konvict. Argue all u want, its the truth!!! |
sect:I agree with u as per the marketers and promoters, everything has to be stepped up in the Nigerian music industry even to the production, packaging, etc. Under the present circumstances though, 2face has at least been able to break into the international market. U keep bringing kennis and I dunno how else to say kennis had nothing to do with 2face's success internationally. |
Faze has a bad promoter and thats a genuine excuse? Is he himself stupid? If you're selling a winning product, marketers would flood your door everyday. So lets not turn that into another excuse. 2face won for his new album, its 2007, they didn't just start the MOBO awards this yr. You say D'banj's album is not tight, I say it is. D'banj has serious tunes, maybe d'banj talks about women mostly but he's good at what he does. You might be interested in reading this and maybe appreciate tuface's success a little better: http://allafrica.com/stories/200709240778.html |
sect:Very simple answer. MOBO Awards 2007 for Grass 2 Grace. Thats an album isn't it? |
