Thanks bro

giselle237:
Yes it’s possible with the ‘Keep my passport’ service.
When the decision is made whether you were granted or rejected you would be asked to submit your passport and then you’ll either receive a refusal letter or visa vignette. Check TLS website for the price of this service

Can anyone confirm the possibility of applying to the UK without submission of passport until the final decision is made.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by mroyato(m): 8:25pm On Aug 20, 2019
Excellent Opinion bro. Seconded by me!!

Dolorsa:
Opinion : I am of the opinion that anyone that gets his/her visa approved should go beyond providing details of application timeline. Let's talk about our budget for the trip, opening balance on account, closing balance on account, monthly salary, monthly expenses, let's talk about other monies in our account explained(Like, I had some money not from my income source that was explained), duration of intended stay in the UK. These details will go a long way in helping prospective applicants make informed decisions about their applications and ultimately reduce some questions being asked on the thread. Successful applicants can also provide list of documents submitted in the course of visa application. I believe we would have more success rate and less visa denials hopefully. Thanks everyone. More success to come.

Guys a quick question here. Can a signed/sealed letter of sponsorship from the government of a state suffice as proof of fund?

ORIGINAL PASSPORT REQUEST!!! (May applicant)

Experience is truly the best teacher, and my Canadian Sucess story made me believe the saying “EVERY DISAPPOINTMENT IS A BLESSING”!!! I know very well my story will motivate or strengthen some people never to give up in whatever that interests them, pursue it desperately like your life depends on it!! Yes I mean it.
Before I proceed, below is my timeline.

Online Application (2nd Application)
Submitted May 9th (10:57pm)
Upfront medicals passed on 11th June
Correspondence letter (today by 10:12am)
Original passport request (today by 10:32am)

This experience is my most difficult experience in life so far, I have always thought I can have anything I want in life but this Canada journey taught me that “Human beings can make any plans they want, but it’s God that decides their Sucess or failure”. I don’t even know where to begin from, but only God, Myself and @frankrobbn1 can tell my tragedy-comedy story.

So exactly a year today 20th June 2018, I submitted a paper route application and It was refused within 4weeks based on family ties, purpose of visit , personal assets and financial assets. Meanwhile, I have a Bsc in Biochemistry with overall CGPA 4.15 and last two year CGPA 4.71 , going for 2year diploma, paid tution fee $8,880cad.
when I received my refusal letter, I cried that very day like never before and till date my first refusal date 18th July,2018 still remains the worst day of my life, and the agent my parents used was just after money. After crying, knowing how bad i needed to leave this country I woke from my comfort zone and began my personal research, this was how I came across this wonderful forum and started reading up!

Through this wonderful platform I met an angel in human form, a motivator, my soulmate and my support system @frankrobbn1, may God bless you richly for me. Frank took his time to explain the errors in my application starting from advising me to secure a masters admission and that is nearly impossible to convince a VO on why diploma and not masters considering my high Gp, and secondly that my application is as empty as anything, I didn’t even submit my family’s information, no assets declared, no employment evidence and so on.

So I began my admission hunt and the devil started his work. Almost all the schools offering my course/ or related course requires a supervisor , and you know how difficult securing a supervisor can be. Some schools I contacted will tell me pump and play that I must identify a supervisor before applying while some will tell me to apply that they will assign me a supervisor once am admitted! I fell to their tricks and lost my application fee, I also tried contacting supervisors all kept turning me down. I kept sending countless mails to different supervisors in different universities all to no avail, some would always come up late with their negative mails of not having space in their lab while some will totally ignore me. I got feed up and I decided to stop sending mails but to call them on phone at least to get a straight forward response rather than waiting for their response that takes weeks and at the end must be negative. I made it as one of my daily activities to call at least 10 supervisors daily, and I did this for months!!! Even the ones that later accepted to supervise me though without funding just all of a sudden will deny even knowing me after I have submitted my application hoping I have secured a supervisor.

In general, I applied to 6 different universities in a space of 8months and all turned me down. I kept asking myself who did I offend? who is after my progress? Through this same wonderful forum I met a very nice fellow @agronat. Immediately he posted about him securing a masters admission with funding, i pm him to put me through, and that was how I realized the vital points/information missing out in my application and the reasons behind my refusals regardless of my high scores. And today am glad that my finally attempt landed me a full fulled scholarship worth $38,076CAD at BROCK UNIVERSITY ONTARIO , 2 years MSc in Biotechnology. Big thanks to @frankrobbn1 for recommending Brock University to me. I nearly craze that day (April 18th, 2019)!!! NB: the scholarship covers my tution and living expenses with extra left, I was also guaranteed a graduate assistantship position. Isn’t God great? This was when I realized that God was preparing something greater for me.

Fast forward to my visa application, guru @frankrobbn1 finished work.. I personally wrote my SOP and LOE, but when frank was done reviewing it I couldn’t recognize my LOE and SOP .. lol, he reconstructed it and was even using the VO’s terms to address every issue. He sold me well and also left the Change for the Visa officer to keep. I can’t thank you enough.., even after I submitted my visa application he took me to a church where I was given 4 days dry fasting and prayers (something I have never done in my life). I’m not the churchious type but this journey brought me closer to God and will forever remain grateful. I will be traveling to lagos next week to submit my passport and at the same time celebrate this wonderful journey that ended well. Seriously my sleep tonight will be very special after one year of dreaming of CANADA Lol, and to @justwise thanks for making this platform possible.

Below are the list of documents I submitted with my application:

Even though I know my application is a little bit tight, I still handed it over to God because I have seen better applications refused, or the acceptance quota being reached as rumored on the forum,I said to God that they will bang the door when it’s my time to enter, I prayed against errors which can come from the VO leading to common refusals, lol, I prayed against bad mood on the head of the VO handling my application. Prayer is the Key.

I wish all TRV hopefuls SUCCESS!!!
Here is apparently the most inspiring story on this thread. I can't believe I am just seeing it. Congratulations sis.

I've been a silent follower, I am grateful to you all for your contributions, I have really gained a lot from this group, thank you for all you do.

MY VISA WAS APPROVED THIS MORNING

VO: good morning, pass me your passport and i20

Me: I did

VO: so you are going to the US to study computer science.

Me: I am actually going to study management information systems with a major in computer systems analysis.

VO: what did you study in your undergraduate

Me: I studied Electrical and Electronic engineering with a major in telecommunications which has got to do with informations. MIS too has got to do with solving business problems with information technology.

VO: Why do you need a master's degree now, since you have been working with **** state government since you finished your NYSC

Me: I need a master's degree in MIS now for career advancement. Besides, more ministries are being created in my state and their is serious need for database administrators.

VO: I can see you have relatives in the US, what do they do?

Me: yes, I have 2 brothers in the united state, they are students of UIS, one just graduated and will be starting his PhD this same month, the other is still studying MPH.

VO: who will sponsoring you

Me: My elder brother, he is in charge of the family funds.

VO: I'll be approving your visa, he brought out the white paper and circled collection point, I didn't even wait to hear when to pick it up. I just carried my file and left.

No SOA asked, I didn't even take any test and I applied to just one school. It was just God!

To God be the glory, thank you nairalanders.
Congrats maam.
What school(s) did you apply to?

There is an MSc program in Risk and Safety engineering offered by Memorial University. Unfortunately, the winter admission would be closing by 1st of August.

Thanks a lot . pls do I have to write self introduction letter or I should get the letter of introduction from the company I am working with though i am sponsoring myself.
You need both letters. Write a self introductory letter and let the organization you work with also introduce you to the consular stating your job role and that you will be on leave for the period you intend to travel.

Thanks bro. I am planning to apply for a PGD or PGC at fanshawe come winter 2020 but I have some concerns.

1. The school's website says that only 2300CAD is required but the agents are saying that full tuition must be paid before the school can issue a LOA. Do you have an idea of what is really required? Full tuition or the minimum deposit?

2. What's the visa success rate like to fanshawe as compared to applying to Canadian universities.

Thanks

TravelRe: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by mroyato(m): 12:56pm On Jun 05, 2019
Personal thoughts

1. Not to demoralize anyone, but if you have applied for a study visa and you haven't from the embassy yet; you may likely get a refusal except if you are going for a PhD, post-doc or a full research masters.
Why?? Most universities in the republic are already writing their exams hence registration for new students are fully closed. However some universities may allow certain international students to begin their programs in semester 2 if you have pre- informed them of your visa challenges.

Some study visa applicants have also failed to carry their institutions along in the challenge they are facing in getting study visa. Trust me the international office in your university can pull a lot of stunt. They will forward your name to the home affairs and ask them to issue you a visa. They will also follow up on your behalf until the visa is issued.

2. I have also noticed a lot of refusals on this platform lately. The truth is South Africa is trying so hard to reduce the influx of immigrants into their country as a lot of illegal emigrants across Africa ( Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Congo, moz, Cameroon, Guniea) are beginning to constitute threats/nuisance. So the immigration policies are now stricter.
However, one major factor why applicants are largely denied these days lies in the genuity and appropriateness of application documents. For example, if you are applying for a study visa, please ensure the adequacy of your proof of fund. Be sure that your bank statement can cover your tuition, cost of living, accommodation and some little extra bucks. If you are getting the bank statement from a sponsor, ensure that the relationship between you and the sponsor is properly spelt out and explained in a letter from your sponsor to the consular. You may also back up the relationship with birth certificates if the sponsor is your bloodline.
I wouldn't like to dwell so much on this document thing but keep in mind that your documents must be verifiable, genuine and appropriate.

3. What is in South Africa??
The answer is South Africa offers everything that Nigeria promises to be. From perfect roads, to uninterrupted power supply, to excellent weather, great health care system, to cheap world class educational system...just name any good thing you can think of, South Africa is got it.
However, there are a few negatives which alot of us already know. Job opportunities are now getting difficult and doesn't look like it's going to get any better in the nearest future so if you are coming to the republic for employment opportunities, your better think twice.

If you are coming for tourism, South Africa is the place to be especially if you want a near america or western Europe experience. If schooling is what interests , i'll like to tell you that the best schools in Africa are here in the republic.

Lastly, always have it at the back of your mind that no country in this world owes you a visa obligation.

Cheers.

Go to the vfs application center and present your slip at the passport collection area. There they will confirm whether your visa is ready or not.

Option 2 which will take some weeks tho. Write to your school and explain your situation to them. Tell them when you applied and ask them to write the home affairs on your behalf.

If you have a MasterCard you are fine but you may have to inform your bank about it. It's way cheaper for you. Most Banks charge less than 26 naira to a rand whereas it goes for about 30naira if you want to exchange at bureau de change. However as a back up you can hold about 2000rands in cash. You will find a lot of places at the airport to change your money.

ebose09:
Where is the best place to change rand Nigeria or SA
TravelRe: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by mroyato(m): 11:32am On May 10, 2019
1. You need to be able to present proof of accommodation during your intended stay if you are asked at the point of entry. So I advise that you make an unpaid reservation for other cities you intend to visit just in case you are asked.

2. If you have a Mastercard you don't need to travel with cash as your card will work in most malls and POS in SA. However, keep about 2000rands in cash just in case.

Morning my people. Will be heading to SA next week and I have two questions...

1. Have a 30 day Tourist Visa. I'll be touring different cities and so I'm booking just 5 days first in Pretoria with AirBnB and would book for other cities later. Question: Hope 5 days accommodation receipt is OK to present @ POE?

2. Where's the best place to exchange Naira to Rand? Lagos Airport or Joburg Airport or PTA via bank here in Naija.

Many thanks in advance for your responses

TravelRe: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by mroyato(m): 6:29pm On Apr 21, 2019
cucumbar:
Please, I intend to submit my application this week and would like to make some enquiries:
1. how much is the visa application fee?

2.Will those ‘thugs’ at the vsf assist me in applying (for a fee of course)I.e, making reservations for airline and hotels before I submit my application? I’m at lost on how to go about this, seeing that this is my first time.

3. If so, can I make reservation the same day I’m submitting my form?

4.If I choose to visit, Capetown in my application, can I decide to go to some other city when I travel, or I am stuck with Capetown?

5. Someone talked about VIP services for faster processing. Is it real? Would like to use them if they won’t just eat my money.

6. Are there other things I need to know? I’m already seeing my self in SA for 10 days, and won’t want anything to jeopardize my application.

Thank you all.
You may find the following tips useful for your questions.

1. Regular visa application fee is 32710. If you choose to do the VIP application then you pay an extra 10k meaning you have to pay 42710. If you require the services of a courier company to deliver your passport when it is ready you pay an extra 3k.

2. Those guys are not thugs. They are hustlers trying to make ends meet. That's their office. That's what they do for a living. They are there to help you.
To answer your question, yes they can make hotel and flight reservations for you at a token. You can also choose to make the reservations for yourself if you know how to.

There are some shops very close to the vfs centre. You will find a lot of people doing photocopy and all there. Enter any of those shops and tell them what you want. Don't ask any of the guys standing on the road.

3. Yes you can make reservations on the day you are submitting but the reservations must carry the dates of your intended travel and return.

4. Once you get a visa to South Africa, you can visit any state of your choice within South Africa.

5. I cannot say for sure whether VIP application makes the visa processing faster but one thing that is certain is that it will save your time with a lot of comfort.

6. You need to make your application air tight. Go with all the necessary documents and make sure they are genuine. If you are sponsoring yourself make sure your statement of account is healthy. Write a decent self introductory letter and get a letter of introduction from your employer. Lastly, the God factor is important too.

Kind Regards.

Nobody cares about your airline. However, as your sister has said, SAA is one of the fastest means to get into SA from lagos. In less than 8 hours you are already In SA. No unnecessary layover as supposed to Kenya, Ethiopian and other airlines. And yes it's a little expensive but affordable.
