geekybabe: Hi guys.. Please i need someone who currently lives in CPT to provide some information about cost of living and other details.. Preferably someone who has bn living there for at least a year.. Thanks Cost of living in CPT depends on the neighbourhood you are looking at. As it is with every city in the world, some areas are cheaper than the other depending on a number of different factors. Unfortunately, Capeetown is one of the most expensive city to live in the republic. Straight to your question, I will give you the average cost of certain goods and services in CPT. 1. Housing: Averagely 5k for a room with shared facilities like kitchen and toilets. There are cheaper ones and there are also houses on the higher side. 2. Food: Depends on how you choose to eat. R300/day if you like to eat out. Groceries vary according to brands and shops. Usually cheaper at shoprite, pick n pay, etc 3. Clothing: Mostly buy clothes during sales. Men shirt R150, Sneakers R600 to R1000, Jean's R150 to R250, Women dress R100 to R250, Women shoes R150, Women bags (Regular)R300. 4. Taxi: Depends on distance and period of the day, (Peak and off peak periods). Usually between R9 to R20 for short distances. Uber and Bolt also available with varying prices according to time of the day and distance. That's all I can think of for now. |

JaceBlaze: There's actually a train from Pretoria to Cape Town.Unfortunately it's not your everyday ordinary commuter train,it's called The Blue Train and to use this one you gonna have to cough up half of your travel budget. Did you just say it cost about half of your travel budget?? The cheapest rate on the blue train is about 20k Rands; equivalent to about 500,000 naira. That money is enough to fly you anywhere around the world. |

cucumbar: I passed through camps bay yesterday was just shouting Jesus under my breath. The place fine die. The scenery is out of this world.
Visited the botanical garden, birds and monkey sanctuary, and one other place in Hout Bay.
I hope to visit as many places as possible before I leave. In fact, I’m spoilt for choice.
I booked a five days tour ticket, with about 70 attractions to see.
Abeg, where the blacks dey? I hardly see blacks. I see mostly whites and colored people, except when I visited one shanty part today on tour. I’m beginning to think that the population of whites and other races in South Africa are more than the blacks
Their clubs on long street are like European clubs with whites everywhere. I’m not getting the vibes I got in Nairobi, as per clubbing.
If I had known, I would have come to Cape Town straight , instead of stopping in jo’burg for 3 days.
As per migration, Make una find me one Southy chick to marry. . I can take care of her. For clubbing activities, visit cubana if you want a familiar clubbing experience but trust me it isn't close to the Nigerian experience. There are also some local clubs that offers full Nigerian vibes but you may not be able to locate them. |

j3log: Most don't travel,so all they know is their country There is much paranoia for security,so much so you cant adventure and explore the city. With all the rumored insequrity in lagos, you can move around ,enjoy the local flavour and have a great time enjoying lagos. Everyone tells you to be very cautious in capetown, you can't even interact with your host environment and have a genuine deep feel of the city ,you cant even enter public transport without glances left right center. Bros check again if you are in Capetown. Maybe you are in cape verde. |

passenger1984: Mr Frank,
I must say you and the rest of the Gurus are selfless...I graduated with a cgpa of 3.5(agricultural Extension and rural development) i know it is classified as 2.1, even though I know no two applications are the same but I don't intend on applying for a direct masters because the info I have gathered here so far indicates that it will be a tough task to gain admission into a direct masters with that cgpa, considering that my last two years cgp as an undergraduate is not any better, roughly (3.56).
Therefore,I am considering applying for admission to Fanshawe College(Agri-Business Management)a graduate certificate,It is quite a popular school here and I am hoping @Naijaforeigner will be of help too.. I hope the V.O won't feel I could have done better with that cgpa? Does this show progression? Would you advice I look for another post graduate diploma in a University, perhaps like Saskatchewan University? What are my chances of getting a study Visa? there are so many questions I would love to ask,but I must stop here.
I need everyones suggestions.
Merci Just some heads up. 1. You actually can get a Masters placement with a 3.5 CGPA. Although it may be difficult, but I did get an admission with a CPGA within that range for a friend at Memorial. 2. Target programs and schools that do not mandate applicants to get a supervisor before being admitted. Supervisors always want students with 'excellent' grades so do not waste your time looking for research programs or programs that mandate supervisors. 3. Don't go for anything less than a Masters degree especially if you are going to apply for your study visa from Nigeria. Your chances will be very low although it is not impossible. 4. Do not under-estimate the power of your statement of interest or personal statement. Get a well written personal statement. It will do 30% of the job. 5. Get your professor(s) to write you some good recommendation. It works a lot. I hope you find this piece of information useful. Regards. |

Fasasiidris: So sad, after a long wait for my visa, I applied on 30 August 2019 I was called upon to pick up my visa at vfs and it's said as denial, reason was, HOTEL LACK CREDIBILITY, can I reapply and how long will it take now seems it's more faster in processing. The rate of refusals by the SA embassy in recent weeks is about the highest I have ever seen. Applicants now get refused for the slighest error. Anyways to answer your question please make sure your next application is foolproof especially your hotel reservation and bank statement. If you are planning to reapply this year, then you have until thursday 12th Dec. to submit your application as the embassy is closing for the year on the said date. Good luck in your next application. |

groovychik: I am single, stated that during my interview and was still issued a visa this year. My holiday plan was for two weeks, went and returned after 8 days because I had a meeting that suddenly came up in 9ja that could not be postponed. My travel history is not even as extensive as yours. I don't know what criteria they use, but I am done second guessing I think it's one of two things. You must have been to the U.S. before or have a family member in the U.S. |

OmoBendel24: Dem no dey vex nothing! The persons you are talking of weren't qualified, simple. People are still getting that visa wella, but I repeat, these are mostly people intent on only going to the US according to purpose and returning in one piece to their lives in Nigeria. The VOs in fact in my opinion got better, please! |
