The last time you saw this bridge, what you saw was a picture of the bridge taken from the ground, yesterday, we took same picture taken on the very element it was built for.

It happened this way guys.

Darrnielo:Thanks brother. Sadly, my French is still at the basic level bro. There's no much improvement at all. I know some words, sometimes I know what to say but don't know how to say it. Also, I hardly go out to interact with people but now, I have decided to be going out in other to improve my speaking. I will give it time this summer period and at the end of summer, I should be able to find my way around anywhere. |
29Ade07:Of course. German scholars were even more than French scholars last year. And yes, I know alot of scholars already in Germany. |
stsparrow:What do you need help on? What exactly can you not do? You have to be specific bro |
Hopefully, this thread won't be pushed backwards again (At least during this period) Keep the contributions coming, thanks for following up, and also for the warm wishes. Please, you can suggest interesting places to visit in Paris. |
In the evening, we have been invited by a friend, I spoke about him sometime ago. He's a PTDF Ph.D scholar with a family. They invited us for a dinner this evening and we pray it goes as planned. Also, I have booked my ticket to Paris for a short visit and sight seeing. In my scope of events for Paris include visits to Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, etc. I will be staying 2 days and I am excited already. |
During the lockdown, a private organization shared food stuffs in my region (on weekly basis). In one of the reception days, I met through the two Nigerian in my residence a Ghanaian lady. She's lively and we connected with another Nigerian lady, and each brought their friends and we formed a whatsapp group where we hope to schedule outings, and visits during this summer. Today, we had earlier planned to visit a beach: Pornic (Picture1 -google image) but the weather for today is cloudy. According to them, it's not good to visit a beach on a cloudy or seemingly cold day. So we changed planned. Today, we will be doing Kayaking (Picture 2: Google image). By God's grace, if everything goes as planned, I should bring alot of images. Lol. Good news: Barbra has a Camera, so I should be able to take cool pictures.

Cousiim:No, it doesn't snow in Nantes. We can get negative temperature (in Celsius) but it doesn't snow. |
The weather has not been stable, cloudy atmosphere with random showers. Same Thursday, after I left the TAN office, I decided to visit the school residence and also see the see environment since it's been over 3 months since I went to that side. I called my Friend, a Nigerian living in the school residence. As you have previously read herein, there are 4 other Nigerians in my School, 2 of them are Total scholars while the rest are self sponsored. We took a walk around, took some personal pictures, and when it started raining, we had to rush inside, where I discovered an end of year dinner has been organized for yesterday. They organized it themselves and I later joined them yesterday where we had a refreshing moment, eating, dancing, drinking, and laughing. Most of the pictures I took were personal pictures (I am sorry about that)

On Thursday, I went to the TAN office at the city centre to resolve my TAN card. TAN is the city's transport company's name. Transportation if you meet a certain criteria like have a CAF is free. I got my TAN card and applied for free TAN in February. It was supposed to be free from March 2020 -2021, but I noticed I'am still charged every month. So I decided to visit them since the lockdown is over and I have free time. I went early so I won't have to join long queue. It was resolved. Apparently, they deduct money 2 months in arrears. So your transport fare in January is deducted in March, that of February is deducted in April. Therefore, the debit that I saw in April was for the month of February. My account was showed to me and for the month of March (May), its been free. I left when this info was availed to me and I didn't forget to take some pictures. Everything is back to normal and people are going about their normal business but with the use of mask. To use public transport system, facemask (Masque en Francais) is obligatory (The French most preferred word for "Compulsory/Mandatory")

Sometimes, when its sunny and I am tired of watching movies (my latest hobby), I will go out to a nearby open field, take a shade under a tree and absorb some cool breeze. However, the reverse happened on Wednesday. The weather in Nantes has been cloudy, sometimes, it will become cold, if you see the soothing rays of the sun, one would want to receive it as a perfect gift from God. Same happened on Wednesday. I went out to receive some sunlight. Though it didn't last long but I enjoyed the little sun that came out for 30 minutes.

Eaztzide:Thanks bro. |
I bring with me lots of experiences. It's really been a tough time learning in a different environment, expectations, and especially during this pandemic. The online classes didn't change the way lectures are organized, we still had lectures sometimes from 8-5pm and most times 9am-4:45pm. Looking at laptop screen from morning to evening isn't an easy thing to do. And while we are still writing exams, Campus France has sent us a mail requesting for our results . I doubt there will be any justifiable reason if I don't update this thread going forward. I have 2 months of free days and I haven't figured out what I will be doing throughout. |
Ladies and gentlemen, Today is exactly a month since I last updated this thread. It has not really been easy as one would expect anyway. I am glad to inform you that I have just concluded the first year of masters. I just finished my last exam 10 minutes ago. Thanks for the support and your well wishes. |
ALT2:CROUS is not a private housing. To me, I think CROUS apartment is owned by government or the department where it is situated. In France, there are lots of CROUS apartment everywhere but it's not easy to get apartment in one. CROUS often give slots to Universities for their students. They also give slots to Campus France for the scholarships they manage. So it's easier to get CROUS apartment through Campus France if you are a scholarship student. Of course, you can apply to other residences, what is very important or most needed for your visa application is the Attestation of Residence showing that you have an apartment either in CROUS, School residence or private residence. |
It's been confirmed by Campus France, from July 1st, international students will be allowed into the Schengen region and the European Zone. Visa processing of students travel documents will be prioritized by Campus France. https://www.campusfrance.org/en/french-borders-to-reopen-gradually-for-international-students-from-july-1st |
EdoBoy90:I don't want to argue this further, but the suspension till further notice is a usual/normal vernacular often used in Nigeria to mean nothing. To me, it's an ambiguous statement. It is important I reiterate for the umpteenth time that I am more concerned about communication. And whatever till further notice means should be clarified so that the interested candidate will be duly informed. Only if you know that it's easier to get the scholarship than the other events post successful scholarship. |
na2016:I didn't want to respond to you but seeing your comments above, I think my response to this is necessary. Every organization that is doing business was affected by Covid-19 and it changed the way the do things. This is a forgone conclusion. But the question is, how did these organizations, governments and institutions handle this change in their business process and also the people they serve? You guessed right, but constant communication. It's it shocking to you that there isn't any info on PTDF website about Covid-19 and how the agency is trying to adapt to this change? How happy are you that people are kept in dark and some seemingly ins.ane people utilize the opportunity to spread rumor, false dates, and assumptions? It's understandable that we are in a system that offers us the lowest level of service delivery and satisfaction, however, there's a standard way things are done. A lot also is expected from top agencies such as PTDF. This is fuvking 3 months with no single info regarding their core functions. Even the list of shops here in Europe is constantly updating their customers or people they serve on how their business processes are changing. Are admissions not given? Will people not resume next section? Whatever decision they take is understandable but don't keep people in dark. Why are we this comfortable to this kind of service delivery? |
I think universities should reexamine their programs and align it with the current change and trend in human development and information technology. There's a better away to combine computer science with statistics like the guy above me suggested and not the usual Computer and Statistics. This is 21st century or say Covid-19 era, things have changed and will continue to change |
I don't want to criticize or rant but I think an agency like PTDF should have done better with communication and information management. Even little restaurants here update their websites with details about their current business process. They is no excuse on why 3 months into the pandemic, a decision is yet to be reached or even an information published on their website on the current status of their key functions. European schools, institutions that PTDF is far bigger than send out emails, update their websites with latest information on weekly basis. Aside that, I think everything is coming back to normal in Europe, the border to non-Schengen region will open in July 1st, also, for France, the president has announced that all schools except high schools can open from June 21st. For now guys, I think everything is green. What is left is the support to pursue our academic ambition in Europe. I pray it comes faster than we expect and in our favour. |
vickertony:I don't think you can, save from two individual payoneer account. |
Homeland! Everything about it is perfect including the ending. So sad we won't be seeing it again |
James4bright:I still do not consider myself an authority or reliable source of information on what life is in France, let alone what one should expect post-MSc in France. And the answer is obvious. Like I said in the beginning part, I did little to be here, everything was handled by PTDF through Campus France including accommodation, transport from Airport to my city. I haven't submitted any CV to any coy or organization. The only thing I can tell you is that you can do Msc in France is you find an international MSc programme in your field. |
dandy00:Bro, honestly speaking, I don't even know my city very well let alone places outside my city, so I can't give you a reliable information on Normandie. However, you can always survive anywhere in France. No one can describe explicitly how life is anywhere to you save your locality, because we experience places differently depending on our social outlook and other factors. What is important is knowing that as a student, it will be difficult to depend on jobs to survive. People do it do, but it's difficult for you and studies in France is flexible as would be obtained elsewhere like Germany. Regarding your hope of survival, it depends on God and your survival instinct. |
benji93:I will agree more with the emboldened only before the go-to-grid launch of the NPP. Once you load your fuel assembly into your reactor core, corruption becomes non negotiable. |
benji93:Alright, sorry for the time it took to respond to this, I was very busy and actually needed to be explicit in my response. Let me start this way, US and Russia may be fighting a war of superiority, but there are things they still collaborate to do, things they do not allow their political differences to interfere with, these include: The use of nuclear weapons, Deep space research/NASA, etc. This is going to be the same for Nigeria. If Nigeria will ever go nuclear, then they must agree that no future leadership will turn around the decisions being made (I don't know if this is ambiguous). Nuclear Power Plants demand commitment up to 100 years. It's not just about the decision to build but to maintain and manage the generated Nuclear wastes. This is an area you don't allow corruption to come into, in short, you don't become corrupt when it comes to Nuclear. You know what? Unlike gas power plants, refineries, etc, Nuclear Power Plant and Nuclear Waste Management is an area you don't neglect for a second. Neglecting refineries, hydro power projects constitutes no risk, but same can not be said of NPP and NWM. You dare not do it. Infact, the very moment electricity from NPP goes into grid, you begin to set aside money meant for maintenance and decontamination/remediation should they be any nuclear incident or accident. This fund isn't kept where any government can access it and no one can tamper with it. Also, Nuclear Power Plant isn't a project that is solely dependent on Nigerian government unlike refinery, etc. Once you go nuclear, you will be watched and monitored by IAEA who will setup labs and independent monitoring sites to continuously watch any gradient in background rate. For instance, in 2017, the miniature research reactor in ABU Zaria was running in Highly Enriched Uranium (HEU), with the rising tension of insecurity and bombing caused by Boko Haram, IAEA decided that the reactor be converted to operate with a LEU. It cost the US $5m to remove the HEU from Nigerian soil and also the support of China, Russia, etc. I think the Nigerian government were just assisting the operation because, no terrorist group is allowed to have access to HEU, aside that, the effect of it isn't something anyone would risk. So I doubt corruption is negotiable, but you know, nothing is impossible in Nigeria and by Nigerians. |
Pious101:3 days is too much. You should be able to track when Payoneer completes their part by checking the transaction history. Once it says "Completed," then it's now with your bank. |
homebase:I have not withdrawn to GTBank. It's mostly Access Bank and the transaction time of recent has been within 3-5 hours |
homebase:Which bank did you withdraw to? |
