Business › Need Information About Food Stuff Supply/ Trading Business by mrsage(op): 7:37pm On May 25, 2016 |
hello, I have a friend who has just lost his job in a Microfinance Bank.
He's young, energetic and intelligent. I want to set him up in business and I've been doing some research. I discovered that food stuff related business will be ideal in Nigeria now.
He already paid a visit to imo state to carry out research about Palm Oil trading but the outcome wasn't positive.
I'm looking at food stuff trading. Probably getting food items from the East or North then sell here in Lagos.
If you have any idea or information kindly share. Food items like tomotoes, rice, garri, Palm Oil, beans, etc have become hot cake now.
Kindly assist |

How about Transportation business.
Bus Rental Service.
You can purchase Coaster buses or Toyota Hiace Buses and hire to customers.
The demand for this service is high especially in a metropolitan city like Lagos. People always need to move around in groups.
Corporate organisations usually hire buses for staff bus shuttle. So you can even get a single client for a year. You just enter into an agreement.
Your customers will include:
Corporate organisations Churches Individuals Event Organizers Tourists / Visitors etc
The buses are very durable and fuel efficient.
You can minimize your risk if you embrace insurance and technology.
I'm into transportation so I have first hand knowledge. |

johnugwu: Dear Nairalanders
Good day, I need help and advise on what to do.
I met a friend through my wife in Abj and he was into taxi business in Abj. I got interested and decided to join because i had this flair for transport. I even applied tru YOUWIN i was called for the first and second stage until i lost out at the third stage.
This friend of my wife introduced me to his driver that has been doing business for him for some time and in order not to kill the YOUWIN dream. I got some cash abt 3M and bought the 4 car in two tranches from Cotonu, Mazda 323.
As i speak now for more than five weeks this guy has not paid me, i didn't know his house before so i had to get the other guy to take me to his house and behold the neighbours all feigned ignorance of his existence there. To make matters worse, his phone numbers are all switched off and i don't know the drivers he uses.
What do i do at this point in time? I cannot allow my sweat enter voice mail like that. For the other guy his payment since sept 2015 has not been paid and for three cars.
I will appreciate if there is any help i can get here. I know i made a mistake trusting such kind of guy with my investment, I was blind to trust.
I learnt my lesson in a hard way.
please push to front page to get opinions and way forward.
Thanks This is rather unpleasant. Not good for our business. I'm into transportation business but from what I can figure out, the issue here is not really about transportatiin but lack of proper due diligence. Poor risk management. Now it has happened, what is the way forward? I will ask a few questions: Do you have legal documents and agreements? Did you involve a lawyer or Police etc Did you agree on hire purchase or what?? Likely solution. This is the time to call your lawyer then involve law enforcement agencies. They may help to track him down. Wish you luck and keep us posted. Lesson to All Every business is risky but to reduce the risk always carry out proper due diligence, have proper legal agreements and supervision is key. |

Same issue I was discussing with a friend yesterday.
First we seem to have forgotten the true essence of a wedding. We focus more on the ceremonial aspect.
The moment the girls father receives bride price from the man. They have become married as man and wife. It is even spiritually accepted.
Another aspect is court/ registry. The moment they seal the deal at Ikoyi registry. It's settled according to the law of Nigeria.
Then for the spiritual people go to Church, Mosque or Shrine and get the blessings of your spiritual leader. Finish.
It is not even compulsory that a Spiritual leader must join man and wife together.
The woman's father or court can handle it.
Now tell me why do we waste so much resources on the Non Compulsory aspect? |

olaabiola: Uber taxi for where ? LOL...Nigeria ? You better stay in south africa and enjoy your business. Naija is already bleeped..no light, no road and you want me to destroy a 2013 model car to start up uber in nigeria? i love the business here not in nigeria. What exactly are you saying? Number 1: You are part of the problem. You don't have to be so pessimistic about Nigeria. The real market is here in Nigeria. Our middle class population alone let's say 30% is probably about the size of the entire South African population. We do not have the appropriate infrastructure I agree but you will surely make your money. What's the big deal about a 2013 car? People drive 2013 cars around town daily. I have a 2009 model car. Used for cab business for 2 years and still looking good. Transportation is good business. The ROI is very positive. It guarantees regular cash flow and the demand for the service is very high The roads are bad but don't exaggerate. It's obvious you are not in the business. |
Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by mrsage(m): 10:31am On May 13, 2016 |
Option C. Toyota Corolla. Fuel efficient. Good for brand image. Good second hand value.
A Nigerian used 2013 model should be good to go. Cheaper to purchase so faster capital recovery. A 2013 car should be in good shape unless the driver has evil spirit in him.
I'm already in the cab Business so I understand the dynamics.
And by the way what are the terms for drive to own? I'm interested. |
Business › Re: Uber Taxi Business Inquiry by mrsage(m): 10:24am On May 13, 2016 |
TokyoBulls: We are currently building together a more robust plan based on our earlier conversations with partners and current market realities. The obvious truth is: Drivers want freedom (like we all do) and want to earn more now and in the future. We are building our drive-to-own model and will appreciate constructive criticisms and suggestions. Let us start from the model of car. Suppose you were a driver and have to pay over 2-3 years for any of these cars on Uber Lagos, which will be your most preferred option:
A: Volkswagen Polo 2016 B: Hyundai Ellantra 2015 C: Toyota Corolla 2013 D: Nissan Sentra 2015
Consider the following metrics: Second hand value, maintenance and repairs over the years, year of the car and brand new vs tokunbo, brand image, fuel efficiency, durability, etc Option C. And by the way what are the terms for drive to own? onatisi: I don't know why Nigerians are celebrating this article. In all honesty this is an article that Nigerians should be sad about. Yes ,agreed the profit margin is good and that is even only if the story is wholly true ,it seems the get rich syndrome in Nigerians is what is making ppl jumpy about this news . A Nigerian has succeeded in dashing almost 10million naira to Cameroon, the Cameroonians will shake hands with us and turn round to make jest of us,no wonder Africans usually call Nigeria "big for nothing", Nigeria happens to be the" only country in the world that export everything that she needs but import everything that she has" how can a Nigerian be happy to invest 76 million naira to import tomatoes and yet Nigerians are happy!!!! A white man will shake his head in disbelief if he reads it. Nigeria has the land, the weather, the human labour and all that is needed to produce tomatoes in export quantities. No wonder dangote is getting richer and richer ,he has seen the huge potentials in Nigeria and he is continuously and continually exploiting them. The only positive I can derive from this article is the fact that there is massive market potentials for tomatoes in Nigeria and the local supply is not enough to satisfy the local demand talk less of exportation. Investing in tomatoes farming in Nigeria definitely wouldn't cost up to the 76 mil or 10mil naira to import tomatoes!!. Instead of Nigerians thinking and racking their brains about dashing Cameroon money, lets ppl come together and work in starting up tomatoes farms ,a poster mentioned something about green houses and things like that ,many readers didn't take notice simply because of the Nigeria factor of get rich quick, buy today sell tomorrow and make profit but it is time we start planing for 10 years or more . I'm sure you haven't conducted a single business transaction in your life time. You need to take lessons in business and basic economics. |

Too many negative minds here on Nairaland and it's very disgusting.
First and foremost I've conducted business with Ymodulus about 2 years ago. Joint importation group. I still haven't met him in person but he is honest and very accountable.
I've been in business for some years and I must tell you it's all about risk and trust. Money transfer is not a big deal.
To those of you referring to a certain miss alabubosa. It's an insult to compare Ymodulus to her. Unknown to you guys. Ymodulus is a man of tested integrity with a track record. He has a very high I.Q. The sky is his limit.
He doesn't even need your money.
Too many small minds in here.
