In my opinion, it is easy for old people to say that age is just a number but I am sure when they were younger they weren't saying age is just a number.  

People need to be honest and know damn well a 22 years old has nothing in common with a 88 years old.  

Age IS important and it does play a role in your relationship.  Someone mentioned love in the equation however people have to bond and share intimacy before they can develop sense of true love.
