What are we now saying... It's high time we started considering some of the lapses in our country.. Wether Army,Navy and Airforce everything still revolves around what you get in returns for ur selfless service

You guys should worry for what matters and not the other way round. Making the list is the most important thing now, all this talk about Sarham being the Commandant or not is totally inconsequential if you don't make the list. Make the list first and worry later, even if Lucifer is made the Commandant of NDA more than 80% of cadets will pass out successfully.
The thing tire me ooo. Why worry about what you might not experience.

Many years back I've always wanted to give the army a try. My plan was to just serve a few years, resign, discharge or whatever then go back to my normal life. I just wanted to have the experience and feel the uniform. But as I saw some of their trainings a then SSC friend sent to me man I lost morale. Can't watch my fellow human toture me in the name of training. Some were even tortured to death. And me I be person wey dey quick vex mehn if any of your coporal Friday or seargent Ibrahim or cadet Adebayo or even your general Sirham whip me koboko my head fit spark o sotey I no go even know when I go slap am. Shits like that usually give me a sudden burst of rage. The guy told me of how a termal 4 cadet entered one night and started whipping grown ass men, non of them could do anything, everybody just dey scratch body dey shout. Has it gotten to that level?

To those of una wey dey do this thing , much respect. Una try.
Oga, that's the main reason I stopped applying for NDA after graduating from the university. I got shortlisted for interview in my final year and after that I just looked the SSC DSSC way because I can't imagine serving job from a small boy by virtue of luck, chance and connection, he got into NDA before me.
For those going for SSC, may God go with you and to those of us lucky to make it to dssc training, guard up, cos malice go deh from instructors but remember how many thousand wished to be in your shoes. Pray, persevere, conquer your fears and please don't ever give up on the hustle.
What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.

I for one don't want to command respect by virtue of the rank on my shoulder or chest but by virtue of my accomplishments.
I have conversed or heard about military men who fought alongside Col. Abu Ali in the theatre of war and they were all full of praises of his bravery and accommodating nature.

See the life of Col. Abu Ali should be a case study to every aspiring officer. How did he manage to command enormous respect from his surbodinates, was it as a result of his seniority or bravery?
When we eventually get to North East or West, one thing I definitely know is the manner in which we subdue our enemies with minimal casualties is what will earn us our deserved respect.
Our concern is how to make ourselves relevant first, read about how past military commanders succeeded, restrategize, pray and hope your approach brings results, that way we wouldn't end up becoming laughing stock of the NCO's.

An incidence so happened that the Amoured Personnel Carrier of a senior officer to late Col. Abu Ali ran out of fuel in the territory of the insurgents in the night and after communicating with his command, he was told fuel would arrive in the morning because it wasn't ideal to endanger more personnel in an attempt to supply fuel.

The officer had already given up when Late Col. Abu Ali volunteered to supply the fuel, other soldiers seeing it was Col. Abu Ali also joined the team on seeing the rescue team the senior officer made a comment I won't mention here for religious purpose.

On another occasion, an officers car caught fire in the officers quarters in Bauchi if am not mistaken and all the soldiers looked away because of the officers bad relationship with the soldiers only for Late Col. Abu Ali to come to the rescue with a fire extinguisher.

I swear by Allah who created me, it is most likely for @sikowitz 17 to fight cut and join Lt's (SSC DSSC) had it been he happens to be a MWO/RSM with 30 years of military experience.

See it's very bad for a NCO not to pay you complements as at when due but then work to earn such respect.

As SSC and DSSC officers the tides are already against us from regular combatants for command position, from regular combatants during promotion and convertion exams and least the always ever present erratic godfathered NCOs.

Note: it will always be in record that a NCO wawad you as an officer just in an attempt to demand a deserved compliment. People would always use you as a point of reference no matter what happens to the NCO him don slap or shoot you.

As we get our commission inshaAllah let's tread carefully.

Victory is from God alone.

Some comments here no really make brain, how will you say sergeant/staff sergeant to WO/MWO won't pay a 2nd LT/LT compliment, na mess he go go straight. It's not done, a MWO can't slap a junior officer, he'll be charged, same thing an officer can't slap an NCO's that's physical assault, however you can punish the bastard or lock him up.
That man that said the RSM of 64RC interview of 2012( WO AJODO) said an Oscar slap a lieutenant for trying to expose them was just trying to crack jokes just not to make the candidates to feel bored.
The mentality you guys are having that private upward can Bleep u up as junior officer no make sense, the way you carry yourself that's the way those guys will carry you. You need to command fear and don't take shit. If you do anyhow or act like a weakling those baba(NCO's) go wawa you.
But training will change you guys mentality, because some guys still have civilian mentality, you know nothing about this job.
You think to become an officer is easy ba
Guy, I wasn't cracking any joke, I met RSM Ajodo, WO Tumba and a host of others. The registrar as at then was Col. Ayamasowei if am not mistaken and the board secretary was a Lt Col. whose name I can't remember. I was there and heard from the horses mouth.
Now ask yourself no be the same North East Col. Abu Ali of late memory command respect and Na the same North East one yeye NCO sent his commander to his early grave this year for not signing his pass.
For your mind now, NCO no fit slap Lt but him fit send am go heaven. Think am now. What has happened to the said soldier who shot his commander? I need answers please.
Note, we are not saying it's right for an NCO to disrespect his senior but damn it shit happens everywhere.

During the NDA interview in 2012 while I was discussing with the RSM, he told us of how a new Lt. who had just passed out from NDA and was on peacekeeping mission in one African country almost blew their cover when he heard gunshots of the rebels.
They were actually hidding from the rebels when he unexpectedly stood up in an attempt to run, he said one NCO had to use a dirty slap to programme the Lt's brain. He was crying, my mama say make I no join soldier ooo.
They were lucky he didn't expose them, they survived and after the episode, the Lt always referred to the said NCO as oga, jokingly saying you saved my life.

Now, come to think of it, wetin we wan learn for 6/9 months weh we go compare to 30 years of peacekeeping experience.

We gat so much to learn from the so called NCO than hunting for salutes.

Posted as received

This year's SSC registration turn out was very poor. Why una dey fear combat na?
As per your WhatsApp message,
Northwest has a total of 4008 candidates making it the highest in all the regions.
While Southeast has 946 registrants making it the region with the lowest registration turn out.
I think Kano has the highest number of candidates while Ebonyi no just try.
Meanwhile, hope you have applied for the leave? If not, you may have issues as shortlisting is almost complete.
See people weh get connect.

If God like, him fit compensate me with defence attache for Europe, UK, America or even Ghana.

And if army decide to draft me to the theatre of war in the North East/West, we gonna go and summaries the conflict once and for all inshaAllah.
If to say, army go allow us form special forces, I for join body with some nairalanders form one.
