Nairaland GeneralShe Initiated Me At Age 5: Nigerian Men Break Silence On Abuse By Women by MrTAnonymous(op): 5:40pm On Feb 28
A disturbing trend has emerged on Nigerian Twitter (X), where men are breaking years of silence to share harrowing stories of sexual abuse they suffered as children at the hands of adult women—including maids, teachers, and family friends. The conversation was triggered by popular user @Wizarab10, highlighting a deeply hidden epidemic in Nigerian homes.

According to the stories, many of these men were assaulted repeatedly before puberty, often while their parents were in the next room, completely unaware. Survivors described lifelong trauma, including a profound distrust of women, aversion to intimacy, and, in some cases, abuse becoming a "way of life" by the time they reached puberty.

Shockingly, UNICEF data suggests that one in 10 Nigerian boys faces sexual violence before the age of 18, often by acquaintances. Despite these numbers, cases of female perpetrators against boys remain largely unreported due to societal myths that boys cannot be victims or that they "enjoy" it. The viral accounts highlight massive gaps in awareness, legal protection, and support for male survivors in Nigeria.

PoliticsOutrage As Military General Defends Rehabilition Of Boko Haram Terrorists by MrTAnonymous(op): 5:29pm On Feb 28
Public outrage is growing across Nigeria following a shocking statement by Major General Micheal Onoja regarding the government's approach to the Boko Haram insurgency. Speaking during a high-level briefing in Abuja, the General officially defended the "Operation Safe Corridor" program, which rehabilitates and deradicalizes surrendered insurgents.

While General Onoja highlighted significant counter-terrorism wins—claiming forces have neutralized dozens of terrorists and successfully rescued over 400 kidnap victims—the core of his message focused on reintegrating these fighters back into society. He argued that these insurgents are still Nigerians and deserve counseling and skills training under the laws of war.

This announcement has sparked intense backlash among Nigerians, especially from families of fallen soldiers and victims of terror who feel abandoned. Many are questioning why terrorists are being pampered with leniency and skill acquisition programs while innocent victims continue to suffer in IDP camps.
In response to the heat, General Onoja promised a government review to tackle the recurring issue of recidivism, where "rehabilitated" terrorists return to the forest to take up arms against the state again.

Good idea.
Thank you for your positive feedback! I believe that monetizing Nairaland unique members/content creators is a crucial step in unlocking the platform's full potential, and I am glad to hear that you agree. Nairaland GeneralUnlocking The Potential: Why Monetizing Nairaland Members Is The Next Big Move by MrTAnonymous(op): 5:51pm On Mar 13, 2023
Dear Seun Osewa,

I am writing to you today to recommend that you begin the process of monetizing Nairaland members. As the founder of one of Nigeria's largest online communities, you have created a platform that has become a hub for millions of users seeking information, interaction, and engagement.

Nairaland has grown into a vibrant community of individuals with diverse interests, backgrounds, and expertise. Many members have also become content creators, producing valuable and informative content that draws in visitors from all over the world. These creators are the backbone of your platform, and their contributions are what keeps Nairaland fresh and relevant.

However, as the platform has grown, it has become clear that there is a great potential for monetization. Many content creators would be willing to monetize their content, such as through affiliate marketing, sponsored posts, or even selling digital products. Additionally, the platform's vast user base presents a tremendous opportunity for advertisers to reach their target audience in a cost-effective way.

By monetizing Nairaland content creators, you can create a sustainable revenue stream that will enable you to continue improving the platform and providing valuable services to your users. This revenue can also be reinvested into developing new features, improving the user experience, and expanding the platform's reach.

I understand that there may be concerns about the impact that monetization could have on the community's culture and spirit. However, I believe that with careful planning and execution, this can be managed in a way that benefits all stakeholders. You can involve the community in the decision-making process, gathering feedback and ideas from creators about what monetization options they would be willing to explore. This would not only help to generate new revenue streams, but it would also create a sense of ownership and engagement among your users.

In conclusion, I strongly recommend that you begin the process of monetizing Nairaland content creators. With its vast user base, valuable content, and engaged community, Nairaland is well-positioned to become a major player in the Nigerian online advertising market. I urge you to explore the potential of monetization and take the necessary steps to ensure that Nairaland continues to thrive for many years to come.

Sincerely,

Mr.T Anonymous.

Christianity EtcJesus Christ, The Revolutionary | How Christ Led A Revolution by MrTAnonymous(op): 12:32pm On Mar 12, 2023
"I have not come to abolish them (the Law), but to fulfill them."

The "Law" was built on racism, misogyny, religious bigotry, hypocrisy, and sectism.

Christ was hated because he challenged the system, from within.

How Christ had a revolution:

Pharisaic Judaism (led by Pharisees) was the progenitor of today's Rabbinic Judaism (led by Rabbis).

Many views remain shared, particularly on women, for example;

A popular rabbi claimed that a "woman cannot be a part of the resurrection from the dead, only men can."

That assertion was recent, so you can imagine the attitude towards women in the time of Christ.

Tractate Sanhedrin 11: "Woe to him whose children are females."

Midrash Genesis Rabbah 17: "Once Eve was created, Satan was created with her."

Some rabbis posited that the female was irrelevant in creation; merely a leech clinging to the main thing.

Others noted that women were created to serve.

Some texts from the Middle Ages suggested remanding wives to the corners of their houses, and kept from going outside.

One of the greatest Jewish scholars of all time, the Rambam, said that the testimonies of women in trial cases, was invalid.

In sharp contrast, Christ highly regarded the testimony of women; when he revealed himself first to 2 of them, and chose them to spread the word.

Rabbis also warned that men should stay away from conversing with women, as they only talked about sexual obscenities.

But we remember when Christ invited his female friends, Mary and Martha, to leave their house chores and join him to study the Word.

We also have the apostle, Paul, who recommended a woman as a deacon in the early Church.

The New Testament speaks highly of a woman named Tabitha from Jaffa, who contributed to the Gospel's spread.

In this way, Christ's movement dislodged the misogyny inherent in the Law.

While the rabbis forbade physical contact between unmarried men and women, Jesus did the opposite.

He personally went to lay his hands on sick women. He let sick women touch him to receive healing.

He loved women, respected them as God's creation, and refused to objectify them.

The Rambam said that wives who refused to do their chores, could be beaten and forced to do them.

Another Rabbi added that they (wives) could be starved into submission.

Yet, the New Testament commands men to love their wives, and even give up their lives for them, if necessary

In the name of God, harmful social, cultural and religious norms occurred. But when Christ began his ministry, he stood against them in words and acts.

At a point, it would have been deemed radical:

He didn't let an adulteress be stoned.

He let a prostitute into his fold.

To crown the absurdity of his religious revolution, he broke down three walls at once, when he spoke with a Samaritan woman.

The Samaritans were formerly Jews who had broken away from the flock, over religious disparities, ethnic separations due to foreign conquests, etc.

The Jews viewed them as false worshippers of God, and denounced Samaritans and Samaritanism.

Contact with them was heavily frowned on, but there was the stubborn son of Joseph publicly speaking with one of them, no less a woman.

Today's Gospel tackles three barriers Christ dismantled at the well, with the Samaritan woman.

First was that of gender discrimination, which was a recurring quality of his revolution.

Second was racism, while third was religious bigotry.

These were the aspects of early Christianity which inspired dread in the hearts of even the Romans, centuries after Christ left.

A society devoid of misogyny, racism and religious bigotry was a utopia, not thought possible in the age and time.

Yet, the apostles, and their disciples did the best they could to keep the revolution going.

Unfortunately, as with all things, humanity still poisoned Christianity over the millennium. But it doesn't change the true message of Christ.

And the whole affair gives more meaning to Christ's words:

"...and no one knows the Father except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him."

Most of our interpretations of the laws, teachings and perceptions of God have been moved by human emotions; greed, fear, pride, lust, hatred, ignorance, etc.

Being a good Christian is tricky, as the human nature, sometimes, can overcome the divine will of God in our hearts.

Regardless, it is a conscious effort to fight every form of bigotry that lurks within.

Properties10 Factors To Consider Before Buying Land In Ibadan by MrTAnonymous(op): 9:13pm On Jun 11, 2022
Ibadan is almost becoming a bustling city like Lagos but is also known as one of the most notorious places to buy land in.

10. Be sure it’s not owned by soldiers
Some land close to the army barracks are always claimed by the army. Yes, you may see people build on them but sooner or later, it becomes a problem. Some houses in this category have been demolished over the years. One of the important things to do is to make enquiries if the army barracks is not close to such an area. If it is, there is every possibility that you also have Mr Ade’s experience.

9. Pay attention to topography
Pay attention to the topography so you don’t buy land where it becomes a pain in the neck during the rainy season. Some areas are swampy and flood-prone. You may not find out if you are buying the land when there is no rainfall yet.

If you are buying the land to build on it, find out how it is when it rains. Land with this kind of issue are being sold to unsuspected buyers in Ibadan which becomes a problem as time goes on.

8. Ask for the family involved
This shouldn’t be ignored if you are buying land in Ibadan. There is every possibility that the land you are about to buy does not belong to the people you want to buy it from. The only way to know this is when you are being attacked for building on the land just the way they did to Mr Ade.

This is common in Ibadan and many have fallen for it and could continue if some steps are ignored in the process of buying a land.

7. Family dispute in the past
Investigate if there has never been a family dispute in the past concerning the land.

It is no news that land disputes exist in two of five families. In the heat of this fracas, some unscrupulous people may want to seize the opportunity to sell the land. This is one mistake you can make if you have not done your due diligence.

Eventually, you either leave the land after so much struggle or keep paying a fee that was not in any way involved during the transaction. Some cases have been recorded of people eventually abandoning the land after paying so much because the dispute doesn’t just get resolved on time and the families were beginning to go metaphysical concerning it.

6. Require that they give you a complete document
Of all the steps to take, this is the most important. Don’t just ask for the documents and rest, track them down to the state secretariat for verification or show a lawyer to confirm their authenticity. Fake land documents fly around which you may not discover on time and that can cause you to lose the land in the long run.

5. Do not risk buying any land that has a warning
Do not risk buying any land that has a warning no matter how convincingly genuine they market it to you.

You must be familiar with this inscription THIS LAND IS NOT FOR SALE, BEWARE OF 419… this is the biggest red flag. For someone to boldly put that signpost on a land, spells doom.

It would be a great disservice to yourself to invest in such property. Lands with such signposts are going through a bad dispute that may even involve a long-term court case that you don’t want to get caught up with.

4. Verify from the secretariat if land is genuine
This verification is vital. Like what Mr Ade experienced, you may experience the same if you are not sure about the rightful ownership of the land. Some land belong to the government; some are not supposed to have any form of structure, while some are on the major road but you’d not know until a road construction is done. This happened to many house owners during the past regime of the late governor Ajimobi.

You can only be sure if it’s genuine by confirming from the secretariat or town planning office lest you make mistakes.

3. Start building on it immediately
This is in the form of claiming ownership. Any land in Ibadan that doesn’t have any structure is easily resold. And don’t be surprised if it’s being resold by the same set of people you bought it from. We have enough cases of land being sold to more than 10 people, so you can’t afford to leave the property unattended.

2. Put a warning in form of a signpost on the land
Just like the signpost to warn you against buying a property from 419, it is advisable that you also do the same. It doesn’t make it 100% safe, nevertheless, it would still go a long way in safeguarding your property from land thieves.

1. Involve a property lawyer
In all that you do concerning buying landed property, make sure you involve a property lawyer. The lawyers do a lot for you to make sure that you are buying genuine land. And like I earlier mentioned, it is part of the job of a lawyer to see all documents attached with the land and confirm their originality.

Do not buy land that doesn’t have its papers complete. Most Ibadan land sellers would try to convince you that it’s nothing, please do not succumb to their conviction and false claims. In order to avoid this stress, it is highly advisable to buy from a property company and not just any individual.

Also, make sure the size of the land on paper is accurate in existence before buying a land.

Nairaland General10 Most Important Ethics Of Life by MrTAnonymous(op): 5:06pm On Sep 09, 2021
How’s your ethical training? If you don’t know how to make good ethical decisions, read this.

1. Never do anything that you would regret for the rest of your life.
2. Don’t be greedy. If you get what you want, you will lose it and end up feeling guilty for the rest of your life.
3. Don’t care about anyone but yourself. The moment you try to help someone else, you get distracted and end up making bad decisions.
4. Don’t take anything for granted. If the universe doesn’t provide, then you won’t have anything to look forward too.
5. Don’t try to change yourself or anyone around you. If you do, you will fail and end up doing a lot of bad things that you will regret for the rest of your life.
6. Learn the difference between want and need. A want is something you want, a need is something you need. If you give a need, then you will be satisfied. If you give a want, you will end up feeling guilty.
7. Don’t spread your secrets. It takes a lot of courage to admit when you have been wrong. The moment you stop being protective of your mistakes, then you will be able to learn from them.
8. Don’t be ashamed when you are wrong. We all do it, and it is only natural. The key is to learn from your mistakes and be ready to take it back when you are wrong.
9. Learn from your mistakes. If you constantly learn from your mistakes, you will keep moving forward. The minute you stop learning, then you lose your ability to make good decisions.
10. Don’t be mean to anyone. Being mean to someone shows that you have a low opinion of them and you don’t think they deserve to be treated well. An example of someone who behaves in this manner is someone who bullies someone else and makes fun of them.

HealthGet Motivated: 10 Simple Tips To Follow When You’re Feeling Unmotivated. by MrTAnonymous(op): 11:37pm On Sep 05, 2021
Get Motivated: 10 Simple Tips To Follow When You’re Feeling Unmotivated.

When you feel pushed, pulled or pulled in all directions, it’s time to get motivated. Here are ten ways you can pull yourself up when you’re feeling less than inspired.

1. Get to the root cause of your problem.

When you feel yourself getting low, it’s often because you’re stuck in a problem. Use the symptoms to help you figure out the problem and set out to solve it.

2. Take care of yourself.

If you don’t take care of yourself, you’ll fall short of where you want to go. Sometimes, you get low because you’re not taking care of yourself.

Feeling low is a natural part of life. You should take this not as a sign of weakness but as a sign that there’s something you need to work on.

3. Make a list.

Think of things you don’t like about yourself and things you would change. Make a list of your strengths and your weaknesses. Then start taking baby steps towards getting rid of the weaknesses, and start taking baby steps towards bringing your strengths.

4. Think about what you want.

Break down what you want to do into small steps. Then think of the smallest thing you can do to start on your way to that “big” goal.

5. Try something new.

Your body, mind and spirit need a change of pace. Find something new that you’ve never done before.

6. Watch your thoughts.

A lot of times, you don’t realize you’re actually thinking yourself to the point where you are living in fear. Don’t let fear control you.

7. Think about the big picture.

What do you want the outcome of your life to be? Where do you want to be in five years? In ten? How will this push you towards your goals?

8. Follow your dreams.

Some people forget that they’re capable of achieving their dreams. If you’re one of those people, don’t forget that you can. Dreams are dreams for a reason.
They will help you reach your goals.

9. Do something you’ve always wanted to do.

If you don’t do what you really want to do, how can you expect to be happy?

10. Be grateful.

The more you’re grateful for life, the more you’ll be motivated to live.

Motivation is a Powerful Tool

It may seem cliche, but motivation is a powerful tool. Follow these tips and get motivated to do what you want to do.

Mbaka shuts adoration for 30 days, urges faithful to embark on private prayers

Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka on Tuesday announced the shutdown of Adoration Ministry for 30 days.

He explained that the closure was to allow him embark on a Private prayer retreat that would end on 10th of June, 2021.

Mbaka who made this known in a statement, titled: “Notice to all adorers” also urged the Adoration faithful to observe the retreat with prayers, fasting and charity at home according to their capacity as they used to do during January break, until he returns.

It was not verified if the shut down was in obedience to the earlier order given to him by Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Bishop Calistus Onaga.

“Our Spiritual Director, Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka wishes to inform his beloved adorers that he has embarked on a private prayer retreat that will end on 10th June 2021.

“Consequently, no ministry activities shall be held in the ministry ground pending his return. He directs that members of the ministry are to observe this period of his retreat as they used to do during the usual January breaks of the ministry, by praying at their homes, being charitable and fasting according to their ability.

Adoration! Holy Spirit is our Power”, The statement reads.
