Frontline Economist, Albert Okumagba Dies At 56

Frontline Economist and stockbroker, Albert Okumagba has died at the age of 56.

THEWILL gathered that Okumagba died of suspected heart failure in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

Meanwhile, his body has been deposited at Maitama hospital.

The Delta State born financial expert was the Group Managing Director of BGL Group, a leading investment banking and financial services group.

Okumagba was President of Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS) between 2014 and 2015.

Born in April 1964, Okumagba attended Federal Government College Warri, 1975-81; Kings College Lagos, 1983; University of lbadan and University of Lagos. He had Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Economics.

39-year-old man to die by hanging for killing lover

A 39-year-old man, Musiliu Owolabi, has been sentenced to death by hanging for killing his lover, Afusat Idowu.

Owolabi, an automobile mechanic, was dragged before the Abeokuta High court for killing his deceased girlfriend in February 2018.

The lead prosecution counsel, James Mafe who is the Director of Legal Drafting, Planning Research and Statistics, told the court that the Owolabi had taken his girlfriend to a hotel situated at Camp area in Abeokuta for pleasure and while they were having their time together, she complained of stomach ache and later started foaming from her mouth.

''The convict took her to his vehicle, on his way he noticed she was dead, and secretly took the deceased to an uncompleted building, dug a shallow grave and buried her without disclosing to anybody.

The convict was arrested when the younger brother of the deceased went to the police station to complain that his sister who told him she was going for a naming ceremony at Bode Olude area never returned.

Upon police investigation, with the help of tracking the deceased phone, it was discovered that the convict was the last person that spoke with the deceased.

On his arrest, he made a confessional statement to the police and took them to where he buried his lover .”

He was first arraigned before the court in November 2019 where he pleaded not guilty.

Delivering judgment in the case today November 18, the Chief Judge of Ogun State, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, held that the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubts that Owolabi was guilty of the offense charged and convicted him on grounds that the offense committed contravened the provisions of section 319 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun 2006.

She held that the evidence presented by the prosecution was tenable and therefore, sentenced Owolabi to death by hanging.

3. When a woman prefer to chat with her phone, instead of giving in to her man’s advances. This is usually bad most time, giving more time to your phone than your man, puts him off easily.

4. Body and Mouth odour: Some women have body odour or mouth odour, this is one factor that could turn men off easily and so make sure you maintain good hygiene.

A pre-wedding photoshoot is a short photo session with your wedding photographer a few months or weeks before your wedding and it is an activity many couples engage in.

I see no reason why Nigerians are jubilating because Eronmz was granted bail. The magistrate court should have dismissed the case and mandated the police to pay compensation fee to the family. Protest is not a crime.

Daud Olatunji, Abeokuta

A player with Crown Football Club, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Usman Yusuf, died after slumping during a friendly match in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The PUNCH gathered that Yusuf played the first half in a friendly for Gateway United FC, where he was on trial, against Sliema Wanderers.

It was gathered that the incident happened on Sunday afternoon at Muda Lawal Stadium, Asero, Abeokuta.

The deceased reportedly slumped during the match, but he was resuscitated after the medics attended to him.

He was later taken to the State Hospital, Ijaye where he reportedly passed on.

The Media officer of the Gateway FC, Moses Ojewumi, confirmed the incident on Monday in Abeokuta.

He said, “Usman Yusuf who came on trial played the first half in a friendly for Gateway United FC against Sliema Wanderers on Sunday afternoon, during half-time he showed bad signs and Gateway United team doctor attended to him.

“It was later in the night, a call came in from camp that he had suffered a relapse, swiftly he was taken to State Hospital, Ijaiye where he gave up the ghost.”

He quoted the Acting General Manager of Gateway United, Niyi Soleye, as expressing shock over the incident, describing it as unfortunate.

Soleye said, “Quite unfortunate, our medical team attended to him on the pitch at half-time and he was stable only for us to get a call that he had suffered a relapse, and we made arrangements and promptly conveyed him to the state hospital, Ijaiye only to hear that he passed on. Still in shock.

“He was an ebullient player with huge potentials. May the Almighty give the Crown FC the strength to bear the loss.”

Ojewumi also quoted the Gateway United Coach Akeem Busari as saying the late player “didn’t show any signs of illness when he came for trials and didn’t die at the camp as it was erroneously reported in some quarters.”
