Many Christians in the 21st centuryhave woken up to the fact that the concept of Hell is barbaric and these Christians, to their credit, don't believe in the concept of Hell. That's a great start. But Heaven is kind of Hell too when you think about it. That is especially the case if not everyone goes to Heaven and those who do have to live out eternity knowing that their loved ones are being eternally tortured. But assuming we all do go to Heaven regardless of our beliefs or lack of beliefs, than what do you do in Heaven? From what I understand, you sit around worshiping God for all eternity sometimes with a set number of virgins. I don't know about you, but eternity seems like a pretty long time to me and worshiping some deity doesn't sound like much fun, especially after all the virgins are gone. ![]() |
4. Oh, Hell! The concept of Hellis probably one of the most disturbing religious ideas ever conceived by man. It was great to strike fear in the hearts of evil doers back in the day, but today our morality has evolved quite a bit. We no longer view women as property nor do we consider slavery a valid business model. Most people recognize that torture is wrong and yet we are expected to believe that some deity will torture us for all eternity if we don't believe he exists on insufficient evidence? |
3.The Problem of Evil "Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?" -- Epicurus (341-270 B.C.E.)Epicurus askd dose questions a lng tym ago and we av yet 2 hear a valid response frm religious leaders. My alleged "Free Will"doesn't cause hurricanes, earthquakes, and tornadoes, nor does God's alleged "justice" justify any of d horrible suffering n death dat people face around d world on a daily basis. One doesn't av 2 go 2 Africa 2 see children starving needlessly. Did dose kids offend God in som way? Perhaps dose kids nid 2 suffer horribly n die 2 teach us something important. Dat truly is egotistical, isn't it?Wat about all the people who av cancer?Does God av his reasons 4 torturing dem?I wuld vry much lik 2 knw wat dose reasons culd possibly b. D Problem of Evilcontinues 2 b a pretty good reason 2 b atheist |
2. We don't need no stinkin' deities. Ever since the enlightenment, religions have been fighting a losing battle against science. God has moved more and more to the gaps of human understanding. There was a time when if humanity didn't know the answer to one of life's questions, then God was that answer. That time apparently is still the present but fortunately, science is learning more and more answers. Interestingly enough, God seems to be the answer to less and less questions. Evolution has explained human origin and the Big Bang explains the origin of the universe. So what role did God play? As we learn more about evolution and the universe, God's role will no doubt get even more marginalized. The fact is that there really is no role for a deity to play at all. We can just factor out the deity and come up with the same scientific answers. |
1.The Bible is ridiculous.Have you read the Bible?I mean really read it and not just flip around to the pages that your religious leader told you to or watched some mini-series on televisiontelling you their version of the stories.I don't know why,but those shows always leave out the best partsWhere are the zombies? When Jesus is crucified on the cross the Bible says that there were earthquakes and zombies ( Matthew 27:50-53).What television producer in their right mind would leave out the most interesting part of the story? The thing is that the Bible is filled with dis stuff like when God sent two bears to maul 42 children 4 calling a guy,"bald"( 2 Kings 2:23-24). Unfortunately, asyd frm the surprisingly large no. of hilariously ridiculous stories like these, the Bible is pretty boring and that is probably why so few religious believers have ever actually read it.Let me just say this:Dere is a reason y the Bible is d most recommended book by atheists Dat reason is becoz it is boredom pepperd WIT ridiculousness. |
People love lists. Am I right? So here is a list of five pretty good reasons why you should be an atheist. Now I know I am not going to convince everyone with this list because god-belief has been indoctrinated into our society for a long time and most people have been raised to believe in some deity or another since before they could walk. But here are five reasons you might want to think about that might cause you to rethink your deeply held faith-based convictions and become an atheist. |
braine: I agree. But then how do you explain the spiritual evil that exists? Coz, since that exists, it means theres something greater.I don't believe in anything supernatural. No miracles, gods, devils, demons, heaven, hell, psychics, levitation, prayer, aliens, etc... Also note that Soul is confused with consciousness. Soul must be non physical unless you can locate it. If christains gets evidence for any of the above, my belief-o-meter will change. N.B.-Evil comes from ones brain, not an entity. |
1. If we truly had one creator speaking to prophets, it would do so consistently, not contradictory as thousands of different religions have proven. 2. “Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then He is not omnipotent. Is He able, but not willing? Then He is malevolent. Is He both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is He neither able nor willing? Then why call Him God?” – Epicurus 3. It is better to find your own answers and make an educated decision, than to intentionally remain uneducated and make a fearful one. 4. If I were to astonishingly find myself face to face with a supreme being, I would expect to be judged on my life as a humanist, and how I treated others, (just as most Christians plan to be judged on character, not on the actual Ten Commandments). If my positive actions were ignored, and I was instead judged on using my intelligence to doubt religious doctrines created by human sinners, I would rather be eternally punished than bow to such an unfair tyrant who made things seemingly impossible for humans to succeed at this horrific game. 5. Even though all religions exist, there is no such scientific evidence that will favor any one of them. Books written in the ancient times were by people who didn’t have an understanding of the scientific aspect of the world. They were mere observers when they wrote the books, with no evidential backing to support their claims. These books are not worthy of being taken seriously even if they have a fan base of millions. Many superstitions are still followed all over the world that is laughed upon by people from other countries. Religious followers all the time ask atheists to prove the non-existence of God but are in a fix when asked to prove the existence of God. So if no one can satisfactorily provide evidence of existence, why follow? 6. It amazes me on the amount of time religious followers spend in supporting their beliefs. They pray, chant, preach, sing hymns, bow, mumble, kneel, make unnatural movements with their bodies, wear special garments, lockets, do fast, visit swamis and gurus, visit extremely hard to reach ‘religious’ places, do pilgrimage, rituals etc. But is there any evidence that these activities promote the personal well-being of a person and give positive results? The answer is no. Many disasters have occurred in places of religious worship, followers have been brutally murdered, exposed to accidents and natural calamities. The time and energy spent in such activities is tremendous but serves little purpose. 7. I will not follow any laws or rules which teach rape, murder, and evil and to follow blindly without questioning. 8. I always strive for the truth, and anything that hinders me from doing so I cannot put my trust in. 9. What I have seen religion do to people horrifies me. Everything from people strapping bombs to their chest to murdering innocent people. |

Fear of radical Islam is not the preserve of Westerners. Indeed, in October,Angola, hostile actions have been conducted in several cities. Several officials have spoken on the subject. The governor of Luanda summarized the act stating that Muslims were not welcome in Angola and that the government would not legalize the presence of mosques in the country. “This is the final end of islamic influence in our country”,said the President,José Eduardo dos Santos. The Minister of Culture,Rosa Cruz went in the same direction by stating that: “The process of legalization of Islam has not been approved by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, their mosques will be closed until further notice.” The Angolan government has decided to destroy the country’s mosques,Islam is not considered a religion in its own right in the country.Last October, the minaret of a mainly frequented by Guinean mosque was dismantled. In the urban commune of Zango, the municipality has gone further by destroying the only mosque in the city. |
Three traders are selling at the market. One sells apples, the second one sells bread and third one sells yam but they were all running short on sales. So they each began to pray... Apple Seller: Lord Jesus you are the apple of my eye! And the next minute all her apples were sold. Seeing this, the bread seller took a cue and prayed Bread Seller: Lord you said you are the bread of life. And also in a minute all her loaves of bread were sold. NOW , The yam seller knowing very well that yam was not mentioned in the bible tried to play smart and so he prayed.. Yam Seller: Lord Jesus you said I YAM that I YAM! ![]() |
