edudguy: I disagree First and foremost, Aguiyi Ironsi did not take part in the Coup. He had no idea there was a coup until he got the wind of it. The five Junior Officers otherwise known as The Five Majors with ImNzeogwu as their ring leader also wanted to kill Ironsi as he had killed other officers from other tribefortunately Ironsi got wind of the Coup and botched the Coup, assumed power and decreed a Unitary Constitution. What made the North angry was that after the Coup was botched Ironsi did not Court Martial the Plotters of the Coup instead the Northerners claimed he promoted the Coup Plotters. Ironsi tried to pacify the North by offering the some Northern officers key position in his office and he released some officers who had been thrown in Prison by the Five Majors.. The Northern Officers - humiliated did not care and those released from Prison planned a way to carry out a Counter Coup which was carried out in July 1966.. A very bloody Coup. The Northerners saw the January 15 Coup as an 'Igbo Coup' but in reality Nzeogwu the ring leader of those that carried out the Coup was just an Igbo in paper. Spoke Hausa fluently, dressed like an Hausa when he was not on Uniform had lot of Hausa friends. Let this be known: Ironsi did not partake in the coup he just got the wind of it as he too would have been killed.. When the Northerners staged a Counter Coup Igbo Officers were killed in hundreds including Ironsi The Northern Officers demanded that Gowon be made Head of State although he was not the most superior officer, a Yoruba Officer - Ogundipe was but the North rejected him and made Gowon Head of State. After the Coup, Progroms were going on in Major cities in Nigeria, Northerners and even Yorubas were killing the Igbos in large numbers.. Ojukwu, the Military Governor of Eastern Nigeria alerted Gowon. Gowon promised an end to the Progroms but it did not stop it only got worse... Ojukwu, seeing that the safety of the Igbos could not be assured declared the state of Biafra.. The rest is history
One can clearly see that the wounds of days preceding the war and after the war are yet to be healed. That's why when I see tribes insulting each other I kind of feel sorry for them.. To understand the Nigeria 'story' better, read 'There Was A Country' by Chinua Achebe Firstly, this quote "...even Yorubas were killing the Igbos in large numbers.." is false and an attempt to propagate the "the world against us theory" of the igbos. There was nowhere it was reported that the Yorubas killed Igbos at that time. secondly, even aside Ironsi, why did the coup plotters missed the prominent Igbo political figures of the time? Azikiwe (President), Michael Okpara (Premier) |

Sen. Ben Bruce should start by doing actual senate work - moving motions and passing laws that actually benefit Nigerians e.g. the Anti Corruption Bill & the PIB, (rather than self-serving bills like the CCB Amendment bill); then show us transparency by declaring what he earns, which Nigerians have been clamouring for years and tell us what he has impacted positively for his constituency and the Nation at large. Only then would he have the moral standing to engage in such adventure and be taken serious. |

gatiano: That god is mad and extremely confused, it lacks mathematical, scientific, natural and human reasoning. As you can see, I have qualify that god as a "it". It make a lot of sense that such grammatical jargons would come out from the non-African religious system, since their entire religion is solely based on worshipping greed.
What is their definition of "Truth" and "Falsehood"? If they(greed worshippers can't, you can help them out, now with your own God given intelligence, not from another's greed worshipper's view.
xaxaxaxax god gave himself some self respect and mistakes pronoun rules. The only time such a mistake can happen, that I have personally witnessed is when a Yoruba kid/child speaks english by directly interpreting from the Yoruba language. وَعِبَادُ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الَّذِينَ يَمْشُونَ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ هَوْنًا وَإِذَا خَاطَبَهُمُ الْجَاهِلُونَ قَالُوا سَلَامًا And the true servants of the Gracious God are those who walk on the earth humbly and when the ignorant address them, they avoid them gracefully by saying, `Peace !' gatiano: No! That is a wonderful question "Who are the We?", And also a brilliant observation. Plural of respect? come on, is the Quran/Bible Yoruba now?
In the Quran- There is the "WE". Inthe Bible- Let Us make man in OUR image. Who are the "Us" and "Our" refering to? Please see response. Courtesy of a simple google search (answers from a christian based site). Question: "What is the majestic plural, and how is it used in the Bible?" Answer: The majestic plural, also called the royal plural, is the use of a plural word (such as the pronoun we or us) to refer to a single person. As a type of nosism, the majestic plural emphasizes something or honors someone in a stylistic way. Basically, when a member of royalty, referring to himself, says, “We” instead of “I,” he is using the majestic plural. For example, Queen Victoria, upon hearing a tasteless joke, is said to have replied, “We are not amused.” The ancient Hebrews used the majestic plural, and some examples are found in the Old Testament. But the construction is not unique to Hebrew. The Latin language also had what the Romans called pluralis maiestatis (“the plural of majesty”), and, as has been noted, English sometimes uses it as well. Other modern languages using the royal plural include Punjabi, Hindustani, Telugu, and Egyptian Arabic (in which the President of Egypt is referred to as “Your Excellencies”). The effect of the majestic plural is to indicate greatness, power, and prestige. It is normally reserved for use by nobles, kings, popes, and other persons of high rank when speaking in an official capacity or by those of lower rank when speaking of or to their betters. In the Bible, we find four verses in which God refers to Himself using plural pronouns. The most well-known passage is Genesis 1:26: “Then God said, ‘Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness.’” See also Genesis 3:22; Genesis 11:7; and Isaiah 6:8. The One God is speaking of Himself in plural form: us and our. This is a perfect example of the majestic plural. God’s divine greatness and transcendence are emphasized through the simple use of pronouns. The majestic plural is also found in one of God’s most common names in the Old Testament, Elohim. The word itself is plural (the singular is Eloah), and it is sometimes translated as “gods” (when referring to a plurality of false gods). When it refers to the One True God, Elohim (plural) is correctly translated as “God” (singular). Source: https://gotquestions.org/majestic-plural.html |

Jesus was the only person that performed miracles in the koran. Muhammad was busy leading his followers to various wars, till he died.
The only woman mentioned in the koran is Marian"mary(the mother of jesus) Koran said she went to heaven with her physical body. Meaning the assumption of the blessed virgin is written in the koran.

I am glad that someone finally brought this nagging question to the spotlight without all the accompanying hate speech and derogatory comments.
Yes. Something has definitely happened to the southwest, and whatever it is, it's certainly an ill wind that would bring Nooo good.
In just 4 yrs, between 2011 and 2015 , the the southwest rebranded an erstwhile colorless, unelectable satan into a shinning Messiah in silk robes, and have gone further to WORSHIP this self created Idol far more than any other person in the southwest.
I always stand in astonishment when I hear some of the most ridiculous defenses my very enlightened southwest friends put up their new Messiah. It completely boggles my mind in no small way.
Their attitudes and behaviors are akin to a religious Cult.
And Bingo!! That might be.
What I suspect is that apart from the Tinubu factor, the REAL factor that gives them that cult-like tendency is the Redeem Church Factor. The Redeem Church -Pastor Osinbajo- Daddy Adeboye factor. The choice of A Redeem pastor close to Adeboye was the cleverest political move ever by Tinubu.
You see, this is something I have lamenting for a long long time. The mentally debilitating influence on IQ and rational thinking by religious cult leaders and charlatans like Adeboye and his army of brain surgeons in Nigeria in general, and the southwest in particular, are now coming home to roost. As a man thinketh, so he is.
The Adeboyes, the Oyedepos, the TB Joshuas and their likes in the southwest, apostles of magical and irrational thinking, have turned much of the southwest into a big vegetable farm.
Now, I am not insinuating that the southwest has lost their towering brainpower. Not at all. But for some inexplicable reasons, they seem completely subdued for the moment.
I have never in my life seen the southwest Intelligentia so silent, so docile in face of absurdities and evil, after seeing them as the champions of social justice and vigilantes of democracy and the rule of law for much of my adult life.
My dear southwest friends, please wake up. Nigeria and future generations need you to be awake at this trying times. Gosh! What a rant. and unfortunate it's coming from a people that their adopted son was going from one church to the other in the weeks leading to the election, a people that their adopted son NEVER completed a single project in their region. Why don't you guys channel your hatred & rants into positive energy to develop your regions, and make it an envy of other regions? right now, the 'silent' southwest is the major destination of choice for investments. If you guys do that, I'm sure the bile in your guts would subside to a manageable level. |
