Literature › Re: A Sure Thing We Became *A Romantic Short Story* by MsBella: 3:10pm On May 22, 2016 |
TheWisest: *Dedicated to MsBella and JoyWendy. I haven't heard from you guys in ages. My uncreative fault. Lol*
CHAPTER 1 It was easier falling in love than it is now to understand why I'm here, still in love with the one person I hate the most.
I flipped the book close and threw it across her body to land on the lamp desk. She remained still, her back giving me the cold look of "don't touch me."
Buchi and I had been friends since we started working at the Primrose literary agency Maitama almost six years ago. One day she locked herself out of her house after work. She called me up and I drove down to meet her up by 10:29pm. Her hagged look with her suit and skirt still on and immaculate told me she was hopeless about asking her landlord for her spare key. I broke the door down eventually. Two cups of hot tea, some growing laughs and an "I don't know if I'll be safe all by myself with a broken door" plea later, I slept the night at her place. Actually we slept like brother and sister, cuddled like old lovers and rested our tired bodies for the night. The next morning, she woke me and urged me to leave so we both could prepare for work. Embarrassment graced her face while she scratched her hair, talked to me and looked in another direction all at once. I picked myself up and left. But I couldn't forget my body was warm, even as I bathed cold water that morning. I couldn't shake off the memory of her warm back on my chest. We were friends but that morning other thoughts began to blossom. And maybe on hers too.
Shy a few days later, she however loosened up. We hung out more for lunch, sat close to each other at board meetings and even once got picked out at a retreat to play a couple's game. Things ran fast. The day Buchi and I kissed, God said Yes.
Today I don't know what God says anymore. Buchi and I have grown apart so much. As I stare at her back, cold, I can't help remembering how we... got here. Hello @TheWisest. Nice short story. Relationships are not as easy as the are depicted in romance novels... It can be complicated, painful, interesting, a waste of time, energy and emotions and so much more... And making it work is a story for another day. I hope you are okay? |

Business › Re: Procedures To Get TIN No. From FIRS by MsBella: 2:42pm On Apr 11, 2016 |
AKPOZY: I must tell you that you are exceptionally good!
Just this afternoon, I went to First Bank to inquire about what I need to open a corporate account. One of the requirements was a TIN. Honestly, I knew nothing about this as I only introduced myself into corporate stuff by registering a business name this March 2016. I just got my certificate documents yesterday.
When I was told this, I was frightened! I thought to myself, I' ve not commenced business and I'm already being told about things that'll involve money that I hardly have now?'
Well, I decided to google "TIN", which led me to our almighty NAIRALAND.
Thank God for every contributor on this platform. As y'll are bent on making Nigeria a knowledgeable nation, may the Great God make your minds overflow with ideas that will bring everlasting satisfaction to every one of you and your household.
Please, I need to learn further: as stated earlier, I'm yet to commence business. At this stage, wouldn't it be counter-productive to get any where near the tax house? Wouldn't the bank be charging me despite not doing any transactions yet?
You may know that seeking contract jobs- which is why I'm setting this up- takes a long time for new firms. I pray it doesn't though. How can I handle FIRS in the mean time? How are VAT & Companies income taxes charged?
Francis, I have flurry of questions. But I think I have to take it one step at a time. I'll be truly happy if I can get help from all well - meaning nlers. Hello AKPOZY, Congratulations on the registration of your business name. Most of the questions in your post are the same questions I have too. However, I want to know what was involved in registering your business name, how long it took you to finish the process and if you did it yourself or used a lawyer. Thank you. |

Hello JideSM,
150 naira has been deducted from my line 3 times between yesterday and today. I do not know what I have done to MTN to warrant this deliberate deduction. I have sent "NO" to 131 and I get a message that the service has been deactivated only to have it renewed again. What do I need to do? |

That is alot of sand. When it comes to spices, I would advice you to buy dry pepper and grind it yourself in a blender or in the market. This way you will avoid some of these unhygienic situations. |
Fashion › Re: Please where Can I Learn Fashion Design In Abuja At Moderate Cost? by MsBella: 9:24am On Feb 26, 2016 |
Hello,
You can register in National Centre for Women Development, Abuja. The registration has closed for the first set this year, the next batch is in July this year.
The course is for 6 months and people pay for it really fast. Once they have the required number of students the need, they will close the registration. It is a 6 months course and it costs 42,500. keep it in mind that you will buy other things for class projects and all.
I did another course there and graduated last week. I am also looking forward to registering for Fashion Design. |

DammyOlu123: Ok, so I have good news. I got 30 6-week old turkeys today. . I'm so happy. My first foray into bird farming. My parents have fully grown turkeys and chickens, so I just took out a section of the farm house to use for my birds.
To recap, they are actually about 7 weeks old. The breeder said she had given anticox. I bought a bag of top feed chick mash, and placed them on antibiotics, will give them multivitamins in 2 days. I will deworm on Saturday.
I will give lasota on January 10, and change to growers mash after they finish this bag of chick mash (mid-January?)
Luckily, we have experienced farm hands which should help a lot.
Any suggestion/advice would be well received. Have a prosperous New Year!!!
P.S.- Attached is a picture of the the breeders stock at her home farm. Congrats I want to raise turkeys too but getting a suitable place to raise them is a challenge. I will be keeping checking here regularly to see your progress. The birds go for 1500 naira (6 weeks old poults) when I went on market survey. |

Hello everyone,
I posted information here last month about vocational training going on in Centre for Womens Development Abuja. I registered for one of courses and I came back here to let you guys know that it has been a wonderful experience, especially those who were interested in the information I shared previously.
Attached is a picture of a baby duvet I sewed all by myself. I have never used a sewing machine before I started the course. We were taught the basics and I can proudly say I can use a sewing machine now. I have not sold the baby duvet yet because I want to show my mother but I have a buyer for it.
Please, if you can acquire a skill while you wait for that dream job, please do. Even people with jobs still come for the evening sessions because having multiple streams of income is important. And yes men are also allowed, it is not gender specific.
I paid for Interior and Events decoration classes. The pictures attached shows one of the sewing projects we were taught under interior decoration.

I have not been able to use the internet on my phone. Even when I switch from EDGE to 3G it does not make any difference.
This is the third week and it is still not working. I called Customer Care and I was told my line had no issues and it will be refreshed. I was also told to send DATA ON to 131, RESET to 131 etc.. Till this moment I can not browse. Please what else can I do? |

It all depends on if your L1 (the first language you learnt to speak) is affecting your L2 (the second Language you learnt to speak)
This is commonly found in individuals who learnt their native language before learning to speak English.
I really do not know if anything can be done about it. Because your case seems peculiar. Maybe you can take oral English classes and see how it works.
You can also create a monitoring list of pronounciation errors and constantly practice the right pronounciation & the correct syllabification(how the words are divided) of the words.
I have worked in an office with lady who had issues with pronouncing words correctly. I adviced her to listen to BBC news on the radio and with this things improved.
Do not give up, just take your time and make a concious effort to work on your challenges and things will improve. |

bolkay47: Hi Msbella, whats your website link?. Using a third-party WordPress theme can be really frustrating. Why don't you consider moving to blogger? There are so many cool templates in blogger and they are quite easy to apply. The website is not live yet. which means I am yet to post anything on it. I want to sort of the theme and other basic stuff before I put up content. To be honest with you, I rather remain on WordPress and figure out a way around it. Thanks for your suggestion. |
