Islam for Muslims / Re: Why Mohammed Was Not A Prophet by MShittu: 4:20am On Jul 18, 2010
It is obviously not the truth! Any system so old, yet so relevant in todays world, cannot be of illicit roots. History kills off negative societal aspects in very short periods of time. Islam, being one of the worlds oldest religions, therefore, cannot be a problem and there has to be, at the very least, 75% truth to it. I mean come on! When the Qur'an refers to 'right hand possessions' it only specifies slaves. The prophet through whom the Qur'an was sent, was always described as being a god individual, and he was known to free his slaves quite quickly. Some of Islam's most revered individuals, such as Bilal, were slaves before joining the religion. The prophet was not a grandiose despot in any way, and ruled for the people with the people, ensuring that he was always available when any member of the public needed help. The prophet's system of law, Shariah, was by far the fairest system on earth. Shariah was only applicable to muslims and muslims only. Christians and Jews were allowed to adhere to their own religious laws, as long as they did not do deeds prohibited by Islam in public, to ensure that Muslims would not be influenced by their actions. In Arabia then, slaves were freed by the MASSES, and education was extremely important for both genders. Im not sure where it was said, but it was said that a man would recieve a large amount of rewards if he was to allow his daughters education.
Listen to me once, and listen to me good. I am NOT, in any way fighting or running away from anything. I am just expressing my shock that anybody would try to start a thread designed to incite religious tension on a forum tending to one of the most religiously unstable countries on the planet. It just doesnt make sense. Your post is going nowhere, good sir.
Religion / Re: Islam:d Only True Religion, D Bitter Truth. by MShittu: 1:46am On Jul 18, 2010
What was the point of this post exactly? To see how many people would insult Islam? And start of with that line? Fuadudeen, if you were trying to spark debate, I encourage you to do so, but the title and your post entry were too one-sided to possibly do so. If you were trying to subtly persuade others to become muslim, Im afraid that its quite obvious and that all you're doing is creating the impression that all muslims only want to impose their religion on others

In other words, this post isnt really helping anybody.
Islam for Muslims / Re: Why Mohammed Was Not A Prophet by MShittu: 1:41am On Jul 18, 2010
This post is nonsense! Whose business is it to criticize other religions? Who is suddenly feeling 'grandiose' and feels it is his or her duty to 'expose' a 'fake' religion? If you were sensible you would not start this kind of nonsense. Please, if you do not like it, do not like it, but keep your mind to yourself!
Politics / Re: Ibb Backs Out Of 2011! by MShittu: 10:27pm On Jul 16, 2010
I honestly can't trust IBB, and I'm a northerner. The degree of corruption that he took place under his rule is inexcusable.
Politics / Re: Northern Leaders Dump Zoning, Back Jonathan by MShittu: 10:23pm On Jul 16, 2010
Please, make una 4get those 'Big men' who, quite obviously, do not want to see Nigeria succeed. IBB and Shehu Shagari were among, if not, the most curropt leaders in Nigerian history, so when we're talking about positive Nigerian progressions, I think its best we forget they ever existed

-Coming from a Northerner

Why must Nigerians always find a way to practice tribalism? Abeg, e don do
Politics / Re: The Culture Of Praising Stolen Money by MShittu: 12:05am On Jul 14, 2010
We're in a real predicament with the corruption issue. We might try to vote the right person in, then have our votes set aside because of corruption, meaning that corrupt individuals make it to government seats and choose to continue corruption. I think that there is absolutely no hope for current politicians over the age of 45, but feel that once people around the age of 35 now make it into gov't, we're going to see an enormous amount of change.
Politics / Re: The Problem With Nigeria Has Nothing To Do With Tribes by MShittu: 11:59pm On Jul 13, 2010
Overlooking the ongoing battle between the both of you, I have to say that I believe that there is an enormous amount of truth in this post's title, however, it should be modified a little, as it is the CURRENT problem in nigeria that has nothing to do with tribes. It was back in the 80s that tribalism and sectarianism were of a real threat to Nigeria. It was tribalism that led to the initial oppression of the East by both the Wesy and North, and the subsequent Igbo military coups, which was followed by a long series of northerner-led coups that, admittedly, played a humongous part in Nigeria's underdevelopment. However, democracy has done quite a lot for us, proof being the near doubling of the county's GDP (or was it GNP? :S) in 2006 (correct me if I'm wrong please). I believe that if the general Nigerian population remains hopeful, and if our government manages to iron out corruption from its reins, we might one day become the envy of our fellow African states, and, hopefully, the developing world.

& Ikengawo is right, we have only had about 4 presidents in the history of our nation, however, the presidents that preceded OBJ, along with the military dictators, were not capable of bettering the nation
