wallex1983: Its a good thing to have gotten TCN, especially when one doesn't have any job yet. But in all honesty, getting tcn shouldn't be †ђξ ultimate goal of any of us. Career Path..... Yes. Very good. But if only properly managed. I tell you tcn iڪ good, but if tcn doesn't take you, disco and gencos are there. Very interesting sections I tell you. And they even pay more. Salary isn't †ђξ main thing actually, but its important too. For now, tcn salary isn't worth it. Disco and genco might even be more cos its private. And there are also opportunities of development there too. I even see many of us pulling out for discos soon, except if sometin iڪ done abt †ђξ pay urgently. So I appeal to my friend Wale and all that tcn isn't nothing to envy at all. There are better things ahead.

Perhaps I shuld say this: Not all of us will become CEOs in †ђξ power sector. Even those that are going in now, som of us have a max number of years we want to spend before we upgrade into better things. Its just a matter of goal setting.

For someone like me, despite my small training within †ђξ sector, I never resigned my job. Even up till now I've not. Even with all these post-ponings, I'm tempted not to resign for tcn again. Just that my going into tcn isn't for †ђξ money but for †ђξ experience and plan for my life. Usually, if I can't get my current salary from any job I'll do,
At least I shuldn't go below 100k. Tcn won't give 100k to Officer 2 (at least for a start). But I don't mind †ђξ considerably appreciable salary drop for career plans.

Bottomline, have a set goal of what you want to achieve. Be driven by your goal and not what job you get. Let's stand for sometin so we don't fall for nothing or for anytin.

Let's pray and hope it comes out in our favour.

Cos the money has already bin approved from that tym i suppose, but sins we haven't done documentation, they are not bound to pay us anythng, so let's not put our minds on any arrears @ all... blessmyij: My fellow Engineers, information reaching me from d same reliable source is dat dey sent a memo on thursday informing d remaining staffs of Tcn about our resumption. Then on friday, the electricity union replied protesting it cos of d unpaid Staffs. So they have to send that message. He said some other things but wat I gathered from wat he said is dat we will still start work dis year. We might be called next week, so keep preparing. No cause for alarm ur appointment is still intact. Cheer up guys

He said dat d people for 18th will do d documentation on mon den tues will be for orientation den thurs will be our own den fri our orentation. He further said dat we will pass tru all d depts, den settle in one after. Just be prepared to stay like three days. Our posting will be ready before we get there

Meanwhile Seun Olagunju d NTA news broadcaster has just been appointed a GM in TCN by Goodluck Jonathan. Saw this on NTA news yesterday.

Shud I say its another case of round peg in a square hole? She got Masters in international relations. Though she is taking up a managerial position, but I wish Engrs are appointed for such sensitive positions. The good news is dat by ds appointment govt is actually looking at TCN now to re-shape it after yesterday's handing over of Discos and Gencos.

Let's keep hopes alive my fellow Engrs.

........ Nah wah oooo. If she is gonna be in public relations dept then its a gud appointment, but if its a technical mgt position, then its gona be a real problem. Anyways, it shows also that govt has taken a keen interest in reshaping and restructurng TCN for better, quality services... Its such a privilege for us to be a part of TCN @ dis transformational stage.. It can only get better....

Aminumuwo: But i want to assure you that the graduation ceremony is coming up on Nov 7 coz i was wit one of the graduating trainees few hours ago, who told me he would be travelling to Abj for the said ceremony on Nov 6. I strongly believe that we shall be called very soon oooo! Wat about you?

He is alive: My friend, there exist a law that binds offer and agreement. If Mr. A offered Mr. B something within a stipulated period and Mr. B does not respond, or responded by rejection, will be invalid after the specified period of time. But if Mr. B does agree, then, a deal as being struck.

However, if for any reason either of the parties wants to breach the agreement should be ready to pay d penalty.

Here is d question, how do u see our scenario?

..... Hmmmmmm!! Is smbdy and engr- lawyer? Hehehehehe.. Well, in civil service, acceptance is different from assumption of duty.. We hv accepted within the stpulated period, that means that the offer hasn't lasped. 2ndly, we haven't assumed duty yet, which is why a documentation is necessary... Am sure u rem one tiny bity part in ur offer that reads thus " this offer takes effect from the day u assume duty".. Assuming duty here will mean u hv done the necessary documentation, medical exam (in most cases) and signed an assumption of duty register to be able to determine the day u reported for the duty and point of entry ( in cases of promotion).... So except that is done my broda, we will jst kip being on a long thing.. They will only owe us a salary after we hv done documentation and signed an assumption of duty register... But in our case nw, i want them to overlook all of those and just pay from the day we collected our letters.... #smiles#.. It will be such a gud thng....

Peeps in d house who has done this before should help us with possible cost breakdown and estimate pls.

My informant confirmed it. So, we will have patience and as well be prayerful. D issue now is for FG to approve d money.dats d latest and authentic

wallex1983: Cost of accommodation iڪ relative. In akangba, if you can negotiate well (which many guys did) 2 pple to a room @5k per night, meaning that each person pays 2.5k. This iڪ for some hotels around that considered guys who came for the training. You do the calculation. If u have someone who stays in Lagos, you may also put up there for the number of days. This was what majority did.

After orientation, your new accomodation will depend on where you are posted for field work. Definately ♈ōϋ can't go for hotels there (except if ♈ōϋ can afford sha). What most pple do iڪ, if ♈ōϋ don't have where to stay, den ♈ōϋ go for a rented apartment. But you are at liberty to choose where ♈ōϋ want ♈ōϋя field posting to be. aπϑ ♈ōϋ shuld definately consider accomodation issues before you fill in where ♈ōϋ want ♈ōϋя posting to be.

Is der a likelihood that one will remain in his place of orientation after the orientation has been concluded? Or will u be posted to another location? Are u @ liberty to choose that after the orientation or they will jst work with the two choice you had made earlier on? 2ndly, dis rented accomodation u talked abt, hw many pple can stay der and hw much will it come to for the 3mnths that one will hv to stay there? Do the landlords even accept 3mnths rent? 3rdly, like how many locations will one be posted to b4 the programmme is concluded? Also does naptin provide lunch or smfng in the course of the postings or classroom teachings? Tanx.......

Am not saying that the man- knw- man factor didn't play its usual role, but believe me, this is the most transparent I've seen of recruitments in Nigeria....
