Thank you for this.
Yeah thermal wears are important.
However for those that may not have it or see it to buy in naija (hopefully this is not the case), layering is another way to keep the cold at bay. And when you get there, get thermal wear as soon as you can.
Ladies: get leggings and body hug tops that are either long or short sleeve, to wear inside before your outing clothes.
Guys: same thing. double your inner Tshirts. As for what to wear under... dunno ooo, double boxers will not be it (there are male leggings, the types that athletes use)cheesy cheesy
The cold no be here ooo... but we all go survive am.

Bracha:
Tlontin, OptimusPrime21, Mudicua, ralfudoh, guys I forgot to include this in my email:

if you're going to the colder regions of Canada e.g Winnipeg; some parts of Quebec, Ontario, Saskatchewan, & Alberta, you'll need thermal clothing (read underwear). Please endeavour to buy them, bargain well o.

Cheers.

PS: this is also a message for everyone.

True. Any international flight will leave Nigeria and go their hubs first before going to the final destination. Except it is a direct flight to the country (e.g BA to UK direct, Delta direct to US, Canada Air direct to Canada).

Ethiopian will take you to Addis first before going into Canada, with a brief stop in Dublin... (but you will not come down)
Same applies for Emirates.... first to Dubai, before transiting you to Canada.

Truth is you will not get any direct flight that comes cheap. KLM will go to Amsterdam first before transiting to Canada. I am surprised the flight will have to go into US. I do not know how that works though or why it is so.
But if the funds are not a problem, KLM, Lufthansa is nice. Air France (not so cool), Ethiopian air is also cool (if you do not mind the distance). Same with Emirates and Qatar. (comfortable, but very long)
Some people I know have used Ethiopian, Egypt and Maroc (for the price)... cheesy cheesy cheesy (Ethiopian is still more favored amongst these 3).

But if it is comfort, then KLM, Lufthansa, BA. (with plenty money) grin grin grin

Kishkosh:

He's not concerned about the cheap aspect , but comfort . He said those middle East airlines will first fly a long distance to their country and the embark on anothe trip to the main destination. He said it can be frustrating and annoying

You can PM and i will respond.

Thank you for this response, it's been helpful. But please if you don't mind, can I also send you an email to get help in writing my LOE? Because I believe that is where my power to get this visa is.

Hey Obehi
I am not a guru, however this is what I think.
What is the probability that if you apply in June you will get feedback from CIC before August to enable you travel in time to start school? We do not really know. However applying for GCMS will give you a chance to know very well what the VO really thought about your application before giving a denial.

1. So if you feel you can adequately address the issue on your refusal letter, then by all means go ahead and re-apply for your study permit, while also applying for the GCMS notes. If you apply for the GCMS notes today, you will most likely get a response about this time in July. And if you find something you think you did not address in your reapplication, then you can do a webform to that effect.

2. Rather than apply for admission for 2020, why don't you wait to see the outcome of your visa process, and if you feel that they are taking too long to give you a response, then write to the school and apply for a deferral. Except the school does not give a deferral, then you can reapply for a fresh admission.

Lastly there are no consequences persay. All it is, is for you to be patient, prepare adequately and boost your application, and then wait the process out. But it seems like you are in a hurry, and only you knows why.
All the best.

Obehi44:

So I have been made to understand. But looking at the time frame to get the GCMS note, I won't have enough time for visa to come out and therefore will miss the Sept admission.
Look at it like this, we are in June already, assuming I request GCMS now and may not come out till like around July ending or so, then I reapply for the visa say July ending, August is the only month inbtw and class starts 3rd Sept.

Okay let me ask the gurus in the house if my plan is good or what could be the disadvantages both presently or in the future.
This is what I plan to do:

1. I am going to request for the GCMS note,
While that is on,

2. I will reapply for the visa around 2nd week of June by trying respond to their refusal reasons directly(increase the money in my personal account, and include other personal assets). Meanwhile my sponsors account and assets are still very intact. (then pray and hope bcoz God can still do anything)

3. I will also apply for admission for Jan 2020.

With these, please what do I have to loose? What could be the consequences?

Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Mudicua: 4:48pm On May 31, 2019
1. LOE or SOP is used interchangeably in this thread. It means same thing. Usually SOP is for your admission process while LOE is for visa process. While LOE explains why you should be given visa with clear succinct plans regarding purpose of travel, SOP gives a clear and detailed explanation of your academic history and plans and why you should be admitted.
2. Your sponsor has to have enough after paying for you school expenses to take care of himself. I will suggest you get a co-sponsor, and like @Bracha suggested have them write a sponsorship letter to that effect. Though it is not compulsory, the letter can be specific as to what they will sponsor you on. One can sponsor you on your tuition and another on your living expenses.
Lastly do not rush... please.
I will share my story sometime soon on this platform.

Obehi44:

Thank you for the response.
I know LOE as letter of explanation. But what is SOP?
2. If i should increase the amount to be for tuition + 10k $ + extra, that should be more than about N10million , what no2 happens to my sponsor account or how much will then be the balanace? Or does the sponsor's account no longer counts?

Finally, can I reach you privately for help to also assist with the letter. I will be very glad. Thanks

Hi Sis,
I am so sorry to hear about your refusal. I know exactly how you are feeling right now, and it is okay to feel sad, but do not feel dejected or frustrated.

Now you need to order your GCMS notes to know exactly why you were refused, and then re-apply addressing the issues raised by the VO.
Though it says financial assets and financial status, but a GCMS notes can give better insight.
I would suggest you look at what you have between you and your hubby and then compare with the expenses of the school, also bearing in mind that you have a child.
Do you have scholarship from the school? If no then you should bear in mind that the VO may be expecting to see enough funds to cover you and your child (if accompany you) and also have enough left for your hubby.

Do not rush to apply. order your notes, and also start to address the situation as much as you can before your GCMS notes come in... in about 30 days.

Shalom!

Obehi44:
Finally guys I got the response but was a refusal. See below.
"
I am refusing your application on the following grounds.
I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary residents, as stipulated in paragraph 179(b) of the IRPR. Base on your financial assets and financial status."

Now I need your advice because I intend to reapply.
Closing balance on my account was 1.8m while the sponsor which is my husband is 10million +
The only assets I included was the land document of me and my husband.

Please all suggestions will be appreciated.

Whew! thanks. It is a relief to know you have gotten your passport back.
Yeah on Monday i will go submit at VFS first thing in the morning.
Omo na that flight matter now oooo.

As summer begins the prices jump.
Thank you for the suggestion.

sillysassysally:
Hi dear,
Yes I finally got my passport back.
I submitted it on the 9th of May and it was ready for collection on the 17th of May. Effectively, it took 6 working days after submission.

I’d advise you not to wait for any mail from them stating when you should come pick up your passport. Instead, use the tracking number that they’ll give you to keep tabs on the progress. Also, start looking out for flights and if possible, book well ahead as prices are beginning to inch higher. Skyscanner is a good place to find cheap deals.

I wish you the best best!

Obehi, please calm down, Do not stress yourself. Follow what Makano said, and be patient.
One thing i learnt for these past 42 weeks of waiting was patience.
I do not pray your application takes long as mine, but you just gotta be patient and hopeful it ends well.
When is your school resuming? You can order GCMS notes as soon as it hits 10 weeks, and that will take another 4 weeks to come back. But in the meantime you just have to wait, and send them emails as well.
Obehi44:

See what it is showing. Applied 28/03/2019. It's on the 9th week already and no correspondence yet. Someone said I should wait till after next week before I write them any email. I will really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks guys

Thank you Makano for your congratulatory message.
You are one person I respect here. People like you and Austacus gave me hope. Waiting for your visa, but helping others like you already had your visa. Like I do not know how you guys do it.
I read somewhere that when you lose or give of yourself for others, you will definitely get it back and also find yourself. (dunno if that makes sense... cheesy). You gave of yourself, and you will find yourself, and someone will give for you too.

I started to learn from you on this regards, and I became a bit more active on this forum and also started to share some tidbits or little i know as well.

My prayer for you is that you will rejoice soon and be on the receiving end of congratulatory messages.

Shalom!

Congrats!!!

Kishkosh:
Guys. I can not thank you all enough .
Original passport request . First time applicant with virgin passport .

Application lodged on the 12th of June 2018 with upfront medicals.
Biometrics done on the 22nd of June 2018 . And medicals updated as passed on the 7th of August 2018 and that same day my eligibility review started.
And since then , I didn't hear from the embassy . because of the delay I lost my admission and I had to reapply again as the school does not defer ... a specialised and highly competitive programme . Fortunately I was offered admission the second time and I mailed my new admission letter to the embassy and also sent an updated statement of account alongside the new admission.
Since then , I've been bombarding them with mails.
I sent mails to several MPs, about 7 responded and took up my case , including the PM and Minister for immigration , I even extended my mails to the senators and speaker of the House and also the some Assistants or top personnel in IRCC office.

I didn't stop . I kept sending mails to anyone I see as a too official in Canada because my understanding is that they can't refuse me visa cuz I'm sending several mails(i don't know who has that thought )
And just today , I got the passport request .

Thank you everyone . special thanks to Makano(this dude advised me not to withdraw my apllication just yet and told me to keep sending mails. Makano will connect me to his office internet and tell me to check nairaland visa section for updates . I will go prepare the place for you bro, I'm your John the Baptist , yours will come in no time) @frankrobbn1 , @kpizzle ,this dude called me late in the night , shared his experience and gave me reasons to keep hopes high when I was hell bent on withdrawing my application.
@Asapant, my man . You're blessed .
@qudcom, @sillysassysally @justmellow @austacus @bracha and all other persons who gives to this section of the forum , God bless you all. Good work you guys are doing ...
I wish @goingforward is still here .

Above all , GOD GOD GOD !!! HE DID IT .
I prayed and fasted and I'm happy it payed off.
