SharpJoe: The same Ferguson that Pep turned to Shaky Shaky daddy and outclassed him in two Champions League finals.
Style not success is my point. Gaurdiola's style is cold, mechanical and robotic. You are snowed by his success. Judging by contemporary art, Pablo Picasso might be regarded as more successful than Da Vinci but give me Da Vinci, take your Picasso
UncleHaba22: Omo make Una forget all this it killed football Pep is doing his job to win and he's winning Aside Ferguson based on the number of years Ferguson stayed as a coach Pep is the GOAT of all coaches ahead of Ferguson also the numbers are there trophies, records, so he should leave what is working for him to please you
Make Una call down Same you if the NFF should consider pep u go happy
There's no way your mind no go tell u say pep better pass Ferguson
BankyGee: Our FIFA Ranking will go back to 43 as Ivory Coast's loss to New Zealand dealt a heavy blow on their ranking and drops them three spots down. Now one spot below Nigeria 😁
Since I became a football fan, ranking has never interested me. Just win. That's my concern
SharpJoe: The way you wrote this, it will seem as if it is not a system that one the Premier League six times in 8 years.
If the system doesn't encourage individual brilliance, how come we have skillful players that pull out individually brilliant skills like Foden, Mahrez, Doku, Savinho etc. The truth is that, most of you that say these things hardly ever watch a Pep Guardiola side. I just posted clips of individual brilliance of players playing under Guardiola. Then you say the system doesn't encourage individual brilliance.
Let me enlighten you a bit.
Guardiola's system respects a theory of the pitch divided by imaginary lines into three. In the offensive third, players have license to be individually brilliant. That is the philosophy. Guardiola says his job is to get players to the final third. Their job is to deliver their individually.
Finito.
We are not saying that the system is not successful. Nobody makes that point. The point is that it killed football.
Truidstarr: The guardiola system does not encourage individual brilliance or thought. Players are slaves to a system that is drilled into them that it becomes muscle memory. Receive the ball, move, pass, positional interchange, apply pressure, move pass....A brilliant system but with flaws. When defending a high press or a counter attack, when possession is recycled in their favor, rather than hoofing the ball to safety, muscle memory kicks in. In an attempt to pass the ball out of the 18 yard box they lose possession and concede. This occured on more than 5 occasions last season and proved costly.
Truidstarr: what we are witnessing is a decline in Moses Simon. If folks could go watch him at the 2019 nations cup. The contrast is stark and very alarming.
chrisooblog: This is the first time I will be disagreeing with you D'Law.
Yes Simon can be annoying but his assists are up there.
Ejuke has potential but I need more end product in terms of goals and assists from him. His dribbles can be a Pius Ikediaish with no clear result.
😂😂 I don't mind disagreements oo. I'm just looking at us having fire on the wings. Simon tends to break the flow of our attack because he doesn't know what to do with the ball.
SharpJoe: When people make statements like this, it actually shows that they do not really watch football. No disrespect meant.
Under Pep Guardiola, we have really seen brilliant players express themselves, especially at Manchester City. You just need watch Bernardo Silva dazzle under Guardiola.
A positive indactor of that is the French Ligue 1, creating a new award for the best dribbler in a season.
I was just pondering. I think the reason why this trend of passing the ball from side to side at the edge of the opponent's 18 is because of the dearth of creative dribblers in the midfield and on the wings.
Football was once all about the dribble now it is dominated by passes and use of space. But I don't think we need do away with dribblers. Dribbling unsettles systems. A good dribbler in the middle can spare us the tedium of endless side to side passes.
If you notice, even on the wings, once the wingers receives the ball, he runs, if he's confronted by a defensive wall, he breaks his run and passes the ball.
daveP: Nigeria and Morocco get personnel to punish this Spain and Portugal with the risky passes theses guys take over and over again at the back. Na just better manager remain. It's too risk. They're relying on luck to not get punished.
playing from the back becomes useless nonsense when it is done all the time. One other thing is this playing from side to side. Is this how football has always been and I'm just noticing it now or it's a new trend?
Samueltemi337: You made this comment after the Jamaica match 9pm 31st of may The Jamaica match finished 7pm 31st of may So how exactly did you make this comment before the Jamaica match
I'll just indulge you one more time but in a question form. Do you know when I watched the Jamaica match?
komekn: Very impressive for a player that's supposedly 6"6' is he really that tall ❓
It's taken him 5 years of development progression in Europe to get to this stage after leaving Nigeria .
I hope it continues , he actually seems considerably fast which is very strange for his size. He is strong with good balance not languid and clumsy fluid and good vision.
I watched a similar player in Monaco he was about 6"7' but deceptively fast, you don't notice it till he has gone past you.
Really want to see more of Tolu👏🏿👏🏿
Tolu is not like Onuachu or Sadiq who are languid and clumsy. He's like Agali, fast and strong. He should be second or third option for us. He's got it in him to give us goals
komekn: On what basis outstanding performance in La Liga or historical performance in the Segundo of 4/5 years ago 🥺
You are busy running around pouring cold water on this player or that player. Osimhen is not good, Onyeka bad, this one inconsistent, that one kinikan. But I know if you are asked to draw up a list now na Etebo, Ighalo (maybe Martins), Tim Iroegbunam, Ovie Ejaria, go full am
The NFF should just ditch this quota system idea of reserving three players from the local league in any SE team selection. This is what made Chelle drop Onyeka for the March qualifiers.
Now he's seen Onyeka and can't have enough of him.
BankyGee: Person say na Nigerians even h88te Osimhen pass. That's the fact.
Nigerians are bi††er people, like say them give Osimhen anything when he dey come up.
I don't understand. Some want him to remain in Europe which is the citadel of football and that amounts to hate? How? Ultimately isn't the choice his own to make? Are we not all expressing varied opinions?
And objectively speaking, isn't it better for him, for his career trajectory to remain in Europe? Some few years ago, players were rushing to China, that craze has fizzled out. Europe still remains. Perhaps Saudi craze too will fizzle out and then what? It's not like the money he will earn in Europe is not good money oo.
chrisooblog: Very spot on observation doc. Onyeka brings that needed grit and energy when there's a threat especially of our midfield getting overwhelmed. That said Frank's lack of technical ability can be a hindrance especially when he gets into good scoring positions.
Ndidi has lost that ginger and even though he's better on the ball it's not by much. Wilfred's recent rigidity and slight lack of pace makes it too easy for opponents to bypass him. If he only had Onyeka's strength and physical presence.
komekn: First of all the basis of national team selection has to be outstanding consistent performance in league and club, EOD.
Chukwueze has had too many caps and not done much in my opinion and should not be there.
Olakunle has no basis to be there. Ndidi looks expired and hard working Frank doesn't offer any attacking threat.
I would have liked to see more effort to get a really top level CB like Tosin and there should have been more efforts to get midfielders Tim Iroegbunam and Carney Chukwuemaka.
Tolu looks very mobile and athletic for such a tall striker is he really 6"6❓ liked the composure and quality he used to score.
Igoh, Benjamin and Agu have not by club form justified inclusion, how many games has Benjamin played for Brentford ❓
What happened to Tella he has not had a run of games to make a claim, how could olakunle get in but not Tella.
Finally, Etebo is only 29 why don't we hear from him again did he upset somebody in the NFF.
