It is a always good and refreshing to see that we have a President who does not intervene in the rule of law.

From Corruption, down to politics, Our darling Daddy always allow the rule of law to take charge...

Why do you kids like contradicting yourself on a daily basis, Why?
Same Magu that has been removed as EFCC acting Chairman and now in court to face allegations leveled against him squarely and the president left him to his fate to defend himself is the same person you are saying his prosecution will never happen.
Then why was he removed in the first place?

Do you guys think before typing most times?!
Shaking our heads!
Hush! If this administration actually had any respect for the rule of law and national institutions, it would have recognised the findings of the DSS and complied with the refusal of the Senate to confirm his appointment based on that DSS report! Magu would then have had no access to continue to perpetrate his criminal enterprise.

This exercise by the FG is a typical case of shutting the bar door long after the horses have escaped!

PoliticsRe: Buhari Ordered DSS To Investigate Magu Since 2018 by mushystuff: 1:10pm On Jul 13, 2020
tesppidd:
You are still running away from my question.

If Buhari and Osinbajo were using Magu to "pilfer public funds" what could have stopped them from ordering Malami and DSS to stop every investigation on Magu and destroy all evidence?
Abi is Malami and DSS not subject to the orders of Mr President?

I have said that the actions of Mr Buhari n this case, you could call it negligence, incompetence, stooopidity or whatever.

But what you can never conclude from it is that Buhari kept Magu there to pilfer public funds.

All you need to do now is humbly retract that illogical statement so we can end this back and forth.
Until you can tell me what other conclusion is more logical than deliberately appointing a compromised person into a sensitive position in order to use him for other corrupt ends including unlawful access to public funds, my position remains. Simple question, would you do same if you were president? Are we expected to praise Buhari or see reason with his corrupt incompetence?

It would be best if you can for once roundly condemn Buhari for his deliberate failures rather than all these roundabout defences that hold no water.
PoliticsRe: Buhari Ordered DSS To Investigate Magu Since 2018 by mushystuff: 11:17am On Jul 13, 2020
tesppidd:
Very illogical.

There is no logic in concluding that Buhari and Osinbajo kept Magu in order to pilfer.

This claim is illogical and irresponsible.
If you were president and you had at your disposal the report from the DSS as well as the refusal of the Senate to confirm your candidate would you still go ahead to appoint and retain him in acting capacity for 5 years? Is that a responsible action to take? Or you mean there was no other capable hand to run the EFCC?

Is it even healthy for any organization to have its head remain in acting capacity and unconfirmed for even 6 months talk less of 5 years? Would be this vehement if it was Jonathan that took this kind of action? How else can you justify the action of Buhari and Osinbajo while in acting capacity?

Now you're shifting the goal post.

What have you typed here now that I did not concur with?

You just want to hold one to your point that;

"Buhari and Osinbajo kept Magu there to pilfer money for them"

Incompetence
Negligence
Weakness
Stupidity
And so on and so on; Call him anything. I agree.

But how does your sermon above prove that Buhari and Osinbajo kept Magu there to pilfer money for them?

Address this point and stop running from pillar to post.
For this quote, the point I wanted to clearly bring to your attention in addition to all distasteful adjectives is that Buhari is also corrupt and you should be bold enough to acknowledge n call him that!

You could accuse Buhari of negligence and indifference but not corruption
The quote above is what you said in your last post which I quoted so I have made it clear that his deliberate incompetence, slowness, negligence all boil down official approval of corrupt and sharp practice which as you can see, despite all his campaign promises, have actually worsened!
PoliticsRe: Buhari Ordered DSS To Investigate Magu Since 2018 by mushystuff: 8:47am On Jul 13, 2020
tesppidd:
You made a bold claim

"Buhari and Osinbajo kept Magu in order to use him to pilfer public funds"

Am interested in this claim.
That is the logical conclusion to the decision to forcefully appoint Magu and keep him in acting capacity for 5 while years despite all pointers to the contrary! To deliberately disregard the report of the DSS and unanimous decision of the Senate can only mean that there was a more compelling, nefarious reason called corruption which includes pilfering of state funds.
PoliticsRe: Buhari Ordered DSS To Investigate Magu Since 2018 by mushystuff:
pquaver:
Magu did some good job as efcc chairman irrespective of his shout comings but as other people were prosecuted for their he also has to be prosecuted.. But for people using his crime to condemn the work.. While are judges and police still working them no dey commit same crime?
Whose responsibility is it to check the excesses of erring Police and judicial officers? That is the issue of bad governance that is condemned by all sane Nigerians but that will not be a reason not to hold Magu and Buhari responsible for their inexcusable failure as far as this issue is concerned!
PoliticsRe: Buhari Ordered DSS To Investigate Magu Since 2018 by mushystuff: 8:05am On Jul 13, 2020
tesppidd:
The only reason is that Buhari has always been slow to action.
I do not support his slowness but that's how he's always been.
So let's not pretend we do not know he's very slow to action so that we can accuse him of shielding corruption and other things.

*Buhari takes forever to appoint his ministers; is he shielding corruption?
*Buhari takes forever to shuffle his ministers and cabinet; is he shielding corruption?.
*Buhari takes forever to remove Buratai and other service chiefs; is he shielding corruption?
*Buhari takes forever to prosecute both APC and PDP leaders; Is he shielding corruption?
*Buhari takes forever to intervene in his APC party crises; is he shielding corruption?

Then Buhari takes forever to investigate and suspend Magu; Oh he's using Magu to pilfer funds!

No na.

You could accuse Buhari of negligence and indifference but not corruption or shielding Magu.
If he was shielding Magu, No man born of a woman including Malami could touch Magu.
All the instances you have listed are clear hallmarks of incompetence and negligence. No president should wave be accused of that because those 2 elements engender all forms of corruption you can think of. Failure to quickly appoint good and qualified Ministers allows for fraudulent activities to continue unchecked in addition to a bad name/face of a government.

Such incompetence is already enough for a vote of no confidence because it is a sign of what is to come, it is no style of governance! Do you and Buhari not know that leaving appointees in place for too long allows them deep entrenchment of fraud and corruption? Why should it take forever to reshuffle or replace them especially when their output is not commensurate with expectations and leaves much to be desired? You call that style? I call absolute bullshįt and official approval of inefficiency and corruption so yes, Buhari in fact stands accused of corruption by deliberately providing a conducive environment for it!
PoliticsRe: Buhari Ordered DSS To Investigate Magu Since 2018 by mushystuff: 7:55am On Jul 13, 2020

You are right but guess what it was only a pointer.. And until some actual does the crime you can not prosecute or hold some for he is likely to commit a crime.. I think probably that was why they kept an eye on him.. Anyways magu did some good work in the efcc the problem is he who comes to equity must come with clean hands.. He cannot prosecute people who are doing same thing he is doing.. He is morally unfit to point fingers at them.. But again this Nigeria the judges who will prosecute magu will equally be sentencing or a quitting him for crimes they them selves are into. Welcome to 9ja
In that report, he had already established criminal dealings with a suspect under EFCC investigation by accepting gifts from him. He was compromised so even if he wasn't going to be prosecuted for that, he ought not to have been appointed! Refusal of confirmation by Senate was yet another reason to keep him out!
What do you mean by keeping an eye in him? For 5 years? Please don't tell me you justify such tardy, lethargic pace of action by Buhari and crew!

Because the are not prophet to see what someone will do in future. Now he has committed the crime he is being prosecuted for it.. Saraki senate yes finally seem like they got it right but fact was it just one of those things in life.. They actually rejected him for personal interest and not what me are seeing now.
This position would have been acceptable if the standard DSS investigation prior to appointment had not yielded any negative outcome. However, it did and the Senate proactively acted on it which informed their decision to not confirm Magu. That was a clear warning that Magu was unfit for that office otherwise what is the purpose of DSS screening? What other prophecy is needed?
Some of you allow mediocrity so easily. How can the constitutional action of the Senate to refuse confirmation of a candidate be treated with levity and you just wave it as 'one of those things in life'? How then do we respect institutions?

Why would the president decide to override the Senate, a Constitutional arm of government representative of you and I as citizens? Osinbajo perpetuated the same illegality as Acting president to what end? Note that the Saraki assembly rejected Magu based on the DSS report and those same findings from 2015 are still being referred to now in this kangaroo panel investigation currently going on.
PoliticsRe: Buhari Ordered DSS To Investigate Magu Since 2018 by mushystuff: 7:28am On Jul 13, 2020

You have made good points but the bolded is unfounded and irresponsible.

Buhari and Osinbajo surely have thousands of other people which they could use to pilfer funds if they wanted to.
So saying they kept him there despite the damning reports, to pilfer funds is baseless and illogical.
Then tell me as a rational person, what other logical reason can there be for Mr President and Vice to staunchly insist on the appointment and retention of a person despite the clearly damning report by the DSS, under the president's direct command, and the resultant refusal of the Senate to confirm him?

Now that you concede that I have made some good points querying why he was even appointed in the first place can you at least condemn Buhari in this regard for his clear failure? It will not stop hom from being president till 2023 as you like to say.
PoliticsRe: Buhari Ordered DSS To Investigate Magu Since 2018 by mushystuff: 10:36pm On Jul 12, 2020
The point is Magu should never have been appointed to head the EFCC after the damning report by the same DSS in 2015 and resultant non-confirmation by the Senate at the time. He never should have had the opportunity to even do the damage that is now being exposed because it was clear from Day 1 that he had very questionable antecedents.

The only conclusion is that Buhari and Osinbajo encouraged illegality by disregarding Magu's rejection by the Senate so they could use him to pilfer public funds. The fact that they were duly informed of Magus unsuitability for the office and they still went ahead to retain him ther for 5 whole years shows the president and his team are all culpable, Magu is only a fall guy for the real thieves!

This sham of an investigation now is nothing but hot air; this government will as usual suddenly disband its investigative panel and settle Magu somewhere until Nigerians with our typical short memories forget that there was ever an issue.
Tetehjewels:
You are not a very intelligent fellow.

Don't you know he retained him there for easier probing because if he was removed or attempted to be removed he would have made serious efforts to cover his tracks?

So do you think that the DSS could ever have gone against Magu without Buhari's approval?

Or do you think that Magu could have faced any panel at the Presidency without Buhari's approval?

It's either people are being foolish or being mischievous.

The sanction of Magu is actually a plus to Buhari than a minus to him.
And you actually award a plus for an action that need not have occured if Buhari had been law abiding by heeding to the damning report of the DSS and resultant refusal of the Senate to confirm Magu in 2015?

You actually think that it is a plus that Buhari and crew have only just decided to play some drama after 5 years of avoidable damage?

In your clear conscience, if you have any, a person who was found wanting 5 years ago was still allowed by the same president to preside over a sensitive institution like the EFCC and somehow it is a plus that the same president has only chosen to supposedly act after 5 years!

I wonder how some of you think really. Have you stopped to check what the actual status of the so called anti corruption war is under such a dirty Magu? What benefits do the Nigerian citizens stand to gain? Who will account for the so called recovered loot that has obviously been re-looted? What about critical resources being expended now to chase down some investigation and probe that could and should have been avoided 5, even 4 years ago?
