You're meant to send separately, we got 2 separate information letters requesting passport and one of them was from the IRCC office in spouse's COR, while the other letter was from my primary VO. If your addresses are updated in your application I think they should have taken that into account. mzdeea: 1 Like |

My point exactly!..as long as you did not claim spousal points. I think this is good knowledge for every applicant regardless of the issue that brought up this convo. littyprincess: |

That's not even my point. The point is realising that PAs can withdraw their spouse/dependents as non-accompanying (for whatever reason) up until they get PR, without resorting to stealing passports. At least that's what I deduced from the links and an eye opener for me. #Objective info Honeysweetest: 2 Likes |

I just thought to share these links which may be helpful in understanding a little bit about the recent debates on 'divorce' or 'separation' after COPR: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/family-sponsorship/spouse-partner-children/track-update-application.html https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/divorce-before-the-landing-and-after-copr.620230/page-3 https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/relationship-status-separated-after-receiving-copr.698056/ One major thing I gathered from the information provided by poster and the above threads is that the poster's husband may have committed an offense for NOTHING! He could have very well cancelled her sponsorship/ COPR without taking hold of her documents by simply informing IRCC that he no longer wishes for her to be accompanying spouse because of so and so, and it would have been within his rights IF he didn't claim spousal points. Now, I guess she doesn't have anything to lose by taking up the matter with authorities...and screw him up! 3 Likes |

Yes, I read her story alright and still wouldn't call it a separation. So, if he calls tomorrow and they squash all beef, would they need to keep updating IRCC verbally/ unofficially of all these "separations"? Do you know how many married couples keep fighting and leaving the matrimonial house temporarily only to come back when fight is settled? I bet there are more than we care to admit. My main point is they can genuinely explain away whatever misunderstanding there is without calling their status "separated" Also apart from the issue of cutting all communication (yes, I agree this may be a problem with IRCC), living separate alone does not nullify a marriage- my cousin got 2 PPR letters from IRCC because one of them was living in a different country from the other and IRCC obviously took that into consideration when issuing the letters. My opinion is if initial poster had known AND had access to the PPR letter, she could very well have sent her passport separately with no qualms: if he was sending to VFS Abuja, she sends to VFS Lagos or vice versa OR even travel all the way to ACCRA. After all the letter says to your nearest VO, so if either of them was on a trip they necessarily do not need to wait till they're back together. All this would still be possible only IF she had access to the PPR letter though. I'm just hoping she gets her passport back ASAP whichever way and get her COPR. littyprincess: |

Pray tell what is the misrepresentation? There are a million and one reasons why a couple may choose not travel together and its happened many times before. Ok let's even say he says we had a misunderstanding and we are both sulking, is that enough reason to say they are no longer married? I highly doubt that. ..And we all AGREE that he shouldn't get away with seizing her passport regardless of the reason. ednut1: |

I don't think you owe anyone an explanation on who or what caused any fight that may exist, it should be sufficient for anyone who truly wishes to advise you that he seized your passport for WHATEVER reason (cos nothing justifies seizing an adult's passport). Anyone asking for details of "the fight" or speculating is not ready to help but apportion blames or use your story for their amusement. Good luck in choosing the best decision. I feel the need to state here that there is NO misrepresentation of any kind if they have not made anything official. I don't think IRCC expects every couple to be perfect without fights or arguments and unless there is an official separation or divorce, she is 100% married to him and should be treated as such until they initiate legal proceedings. #Just saying. littyprincess: 7 Likes |

Thank you for your response. I've actually captured in Alausa and all the main contacts that even delivered successfully before swear this isn't possible at this time regardless of who or how much money you're willing to pay. That's why I'm looking for alternative solution cos I'm just tired. Kolizomanizo: |

Hello all, Please I need urgent advise; I was asked for new passport ADR yesterday as the current one expires 1st week in December, I have already captured for renewal even before the ADR but words reaching me now is that there is no availability of booklets and that there is no timeline as to when I'd be able to get the new passport because there is a backlog that extends all the way back to March. I obviously can't meet up with the 30-day timeline and availability period for new passport seems indefinite. Please what can I do? Thank you very much in advance. |

Please for those who got Passport Renewal request, once the new passport is ready, do you scan and upload ALL the pages or just the biodata page? Thank you very much in advance. |

As stated above, it's not a new development. I went that route too as I wasn't following this thread then so I think many people who are not privy to the info and experiences here will also go that route, which isn't exactly a deal breaker but an added stress you could've done away with. I think I understand the initial poster's concerns and they are valid to be honest. IRCC does requests those info and through people's experiences over the years, many now know how to circumvent this situation. I also didn't know about omitting spouse's education and work even though I wasn't claiming points for them. So I actually uploaded spouse's degree cert in the place holder for education and employment letter in place of RL, then I believe my LOE stated that we don't have an ECA and RL for accompanying spouse because I wasn't claiming points..and my Eligibility was passed without ADR. Now, that's my own personal experience. Dimple10: 1 Like |

This isn't as big of an issue as it seems. Someone close had similar experience: A "possible half sibling" whose paternity was in question because their father denies the child, whereas every other family member believes the child is his'. What she did was mention this "could be half sibling" exactly as it is, she didn't even have any information about them save for a first name, every other information about the could be sibling was stated as "UNKOWN" i.e Full names, surnames, address, DOB etc; the full explanation about that was captured in an LOE and she is in Canada today. I think you can mention the child this way too as a possible step child whose paternity is in contention and you'll rest easy knowing there are no misrepresentations coming back to bite you in the butt. Wish you good luck in whatever you decide. Winkky: 3 Likes |

You only need one GC key for all your applications. You may have Study, Pr, Visit and even other Visa applications for your dependants under same GC key. jollytravels: 1 Like |

Hmm, this kinda makes sense to me because these guys were more forthcoming and transparent with the TRV processing timelines, which at some point was well over a year; At no point did the estimated processing timeline for PR change from that given 6 months, even when everyone could tell that was a joke. But it's also the honest reality of so many folks here and no harm in them sharing or venting even. I'll sure like to hear the inspiring updates of PPR coming in less than a year as well as the flip side of it so we can have a 360 degree view of the situation with IRCC.. Just saying. Foreign Government interfering with Canadian Temporary Resident Visas may be fine but wouldn't it be an indictment on them to push another county to accept thier own citizens as Permanent Residents? Like them saying "please take them we don't want them here again!" Lol I've read about some inland applications hanging since 2020 as well so the backlog cuts across different countries. See recent news about the number of backlogs they have: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cicnews.com/2021/11/canada-has-a-backlog-of-nearly-1-8-million-immigration-applications-1119651.html/amp God help us all. Sorry to interject, but Canada TRV application happens to be the easiest and most straight forward of all visa applications I've seen..comparing visit visas for US, UK, UAE, Shenghen, South Africa, you can't go wrong IF you read and follow the instructions using this link: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/account.html Begin by creating your IRCC secure account and follow the step by step guide on the site. Once initiated, the system will generate a list of the documents they need from you based on your responses to the personal questions asked (document checklist). You can always go back to your saved application (up to 60 days) while you gather these documents ready for upload up until final submission. The actual work lies in gathering your personal documents. Once I had all my documents saved on my PC, the application was completed in just a couple of minutes! bishopkinkin: |

I'm currently doing that now. I applied for PR since earlier this year and now just submitted TRV. I'm keeping fingers crossed and hoping it won't be denied.. although it's a renewal and I never got to use the visa before expiry. teedarling: 1 Like |

jwizzy: Hi, I'm not certain if this will work for you but it's worth trying because I used the method to lock out the agent that created my profile after I discovered they know nothing and will mess up your application. --Bear in mind though that in my own case, I had an existing IRCC account from years back for visit visa Try creating another IRCC account for a different visa type e.g a dummy visit visa. Once you have your new IRCC account, there is a section on how to link another existing application to your account. It requires you to enter some of your info in the other application in order to successfully link your application to a new IRCC account..that is where the issue might be because you need to have some of the information used in creating the E.E profile. I think your basic personal information such as DOB, passport number and full names might just be sufficient to enable the link, if I remember correctly. Once you link it successfully, the agent will no longer see your application in the IRCC account they created, they would just be wondering the magic that made it disappear. Please see link which may be helpful: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/account/link-paper-online.html Goodluck! 5 Likes 1 Share |

You're not alone.. mine too should be almost that time and no update since submission. I think the processing of new applications has been put on hold till further notice, which is why they do not require upfront medicals. I'm just gutted that I had done my medicals shortly before they announced it's no longer required upfront. Let's hang in there and hope everything picks up again soon. joselekas: |

Thank you and you need not apologise. It's typical of Nigerians to use emotional blackmail to justify doing or saying the wrong thing. I immediately understood your point and shocked the initial poster still had guts to defend an almost criminal act (according to IRCC). It's clearly stated "Funds must not be borrowed"..it's one thing committing fraud but trying to gaslight or shame someone correcting you for all of our good?? That takes the cake! I hope the person gets it now. If you want to borrow, let that be between you and IRCC, please don't announce here and force this platform to be an accomplice to such actions. MissMa01: 6 Likes |
