After Ten-year Neglect, Akeredolu Buys Prado SUVs for Judges In Ondo In continuation of his administration's promise to create a conducive atmosphere for the workforce, Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has procured sixteen brand new 2019 model Toyota Land Cruiser Prado SUVs for the use of Judges and the Chief Judge of the state. The vehicles were received by the Chief Judge of the state, Hon. Justice Oluwatoyin Akeredolu, on behalf of the judges at the Government House, Alagbaka, Akure on Wednesday. The Chief Judge, who appreciated the Governor for the gesture, said Judges in the state, including herself, have been using ten year-old rickety vehicles before the Governor's intervention. She said she and her colleagues have various expriences of disappointments arising from the use of rickety old vehicles which they have hitherto been riding. She said:"My colleagues and I have been riding ten year-old vehicles hitherto. We have had various experiences of disappointments in the use of our vehicles. "I recall once I was on the way to Abuja, my vehicle broke down around Obajana. And you know the security situation in that axis. Before long, the boys were gathering. Fortunately for me, I had the pilot vehicle with me. I had to enter the pilot vehicle to get away from that environment "If you bring my colleagues here, they will tell you the various experiences they have have had with their vehicles. I want to thank God for Mr. Governor "I want to appreciate this good gesture. We don't have feelings of entitlement. Though the regulation says give judges new vehicles every four years. By this regulation, it's an entitlement. But at the same time, we want to appreciate Mr. Governor for not taking us for granted." Earlier, before the Permanent Secretary, General Administration of the Governor's Office presented the vehicles to the Judges, the commissioner for information and Orientation, Hon. Donald Ojogo said the procurement of the vehicles further demonstrated the respect Governor Akeredolu has for the the sacred institution. While noting that the Governor holds the Judiciary in a very high esteem, Ojogo stressed that Governor Akeredolu believes that no effort will be too much to be invested as far as the welfare of the Judiciary is concerned. He said:"My Lords, I don't need to inform you further that Mr. Governor holds the Judiciary in a very high esteem. He believes that no effort will be too much to be invested as far as the welfare of our sacred institution is concerned "And our judges, he believes strongly that you deserve not just a conducive environment but that you must be secured in whatever form. It's on this note that Mr. Governor decide, that as part of the efforts towards enhancing a cordial relationship between the executive and the Judiciary, that this Vehicles should be procured. Those involved in this gruesome act will definitely meet their doom, inferiority complex is so common with South Africans especially the blacks..and that is why miliions of them died during the apartheid. Dem still no get sense till now..instead of mixing with Nigerians to pave a positive way in their lives, they are killing them. They will all meet their Waterloo soon.. |
The facts behind South Africans victory over apartheid! Below are 13 ways Nigeria helped South Africa in their struggle against Aparthied in case they seem to have forgotten; 1.) Nigeria set up the National Committee Against Apartheid (NACAP) in 1960. 2.) The late Sunny Okosun composed a song called “Fire in Soweto” in 1977 to show support for the fight against apartheid 3.) From 1966, Nigeria gave material and financial support to the freedom fighters in South Africa 4.) Then Nigeria’s Prime Minister, Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa sent letter to South Africa’s ANC militants on April 4, 1961 showing support for their cause. 5.) Nigeria provided $5 million to the ANC and the Pan Africanist Congress (PAC) annually. 6.) In 1976, Nigeria set up the Southern Africa Relief Fund (SAFR) for the purpose of bringing relief materials to the victims of the apartheid. 7.) The military administration of General Obasanjo contributed $3.7 million to the fund and Obasanjo personally donated $3,000 to the fund. 8.) All Nigeria’s civil servants and public officers made a 2% donation from their monthly salary to the SAFR. 9.) Nigerian students skipped their lunch to make donations, and by June 1977, the total contribution to the fund had reached $10.5 million. The donations to the SAFR were widely known in Nigeria as the “Mandela tax” 10.) Between 1973 and 1978, Nigeria contributed $39,040 to the UN Educational and Training Programme for South Africa 11.) Nigeria boycotted the 1976 Olympics and Commonwealth games in 1979 as part of our protest against apartheid in South Africa 12.) From 1960 to 1995, Nigeria spent over $61 billion to support the end of apartheid, more than any other country in the world. 13.) Nigeria refused to sell oil to South Africa in protest against the white minority rule. Nigeria lost approximately $41 billion then. $41billion dollars. Remember this was our oil boom moment. As long as we fought apartheid, the money meant nothing. Where have we gone wrong to be paid back in this form.
