Relieve will soon come the way of the people and motorists plying the Akure /Ado road as Ondo State governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, on Thursday disclosed that the road will soon be dualized by the Federal Government.

Already, Akeredolu said the Federal government has finished the design for the road but only awaiting budgetary approval.

The Governor gave the cheering news at Itaogbolu, headquarters of Akure North Local Government Area of the state during his Thank You Tour.

He explained that his administration has made several efforts at getting the road done before it later settled for the dualisation of the road.

Akeredolu appreciated the people of Akure North for voting for the APC candidate in the last House of Assembly elections. He said he was in the local government to show appreciation to the people.

While appreciating the people, the Governor mentioned that his government has intervened in the area of roads in Akure North especially in Ogbese market, Ogo Oluwa and Eleyowo expressway.

He said "We have repaired several boreholes in Akure North. In fact, our accelerated water scheme in Ayede Ogbese has gotten the attention of the Federal Government who has come to study what we have done in this state

"I believe you have seen the Schools we have reconstructed. Very soon, we will continue with the reconstruction of more schools in the state.

The Governor was welcome by the people and traditional rulers across the local government.

In its determination to ensure that illegally acquired arms and ammunition that are in wrong hands in the state are mopped up, the Ondo State Police Command has vowed to arrest and prosecute anybody caught with such weapons .

To this end, the command said it has mapped out strategies that would help retrieve all illegally acquired guns just as he warned those who were yet to submit their guns to do so before the hands of the law caught up with them.

Illegally acquired guns were freely used by suspected thugs during the just concluded House Assembly elections in Oba-Akoko in Akoko Southwest local government area of the state, during which two persons lost their lives in the process of sporadic shootings by the hoodlums who wanted to snatch ballot boxes.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Femi Joseph, who disclosed this to The Hope Metro, said it has become necessary for the police to retrieve all unauthorised guns that are in custody of wrong hands.

He explained that the command had since stopped issuance of licence to private individuals that own guns, adding that the measures which the command has adopted in retrieving the guns will not be made known to the public.

He assured that those who are still using unauthorised weapons to cause and threaten the existing peace would soon be apprehended in no distant time.

His words, “We have taken proactive measures to retrieve illegally acquired guns, but we will not disclose our strategy because of security reasons.

“We have earlier appealed to those who have these weapons in their possession to quickly submit them to the nearest police station, but some of them who are deviants have refused to yield to the appeal.

“Henceforth, anybody, irrespective of how highly placed, that is caught with illegal arms or ammunition will be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.

“We will not relent in our efforts to ensure that all illegal guns are mopped out for the overall interest of peace and security of the law abiding citizens.

“We are equally calling on the general public to assist the police with useful information that would help to arrest those who have unauthorised guns in their possession, “he stated.

The police spokesman, however, said the police, which is saddled with the duties of maintaining law and order in the society, will continue to do its utmost best in ensuring sustainable peace, adding that the job of effective crime prevention, detection and control is for all and sundry and not for the police alone.

Whatever the case may be or whatever people may think, this Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu is breaking barriers for the good people of Ondo State.

As Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN continues his statewide tour to thank the people for their support for the candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the Presidential and State House of Assembly elections in Ondo State, he has also continued to make policy statements that will shape government’s actions and decisions in the years ahead.

On Wednesday it was the turn of Ondo West Local Government Area to share in the good news.
While the Governor was thanking the people who gathered at the Civic Center in Ondo City to welcome him, he said the University of Medical Sciences in Ondo City has come to stay.

Rather than relocating or closing down already established institutions in the State, the Governor said he would continue to strengthen state-owned tertiary institutions irrespective of its location.

The Governor urged the traditional rulers and the people of Ondo Kingdom to make land available for the establishment of a standard state teaching hospital to compliment the existing University of Medical Sciences in Ondo City.

To others, the decision of Arakunrin Akeredolu to embark on a statewide tour was termed a jamboree, another means to deplete state funds. To firm believers and advocate of a true democratic system, Arakunrin’s decision is one is aimed at giving all and sundry a sense of belonging. Fueled by his drive to bring governance to the grassroots. To a governor who has made unprecedented success within his first 2 years as governor in Ondo State, it is not a foul play to say, he has enjoyed immense support and encouragement from the good sons and daughters of Ondo State.

First they gave him the mandate to steer the affairs of the state, and ever since then, they have continually given and shown their unwavering support to him. And like every good son of the soil, Arakunrin has shown to all and sundry that he is no failure, within two years, He has doubled the fortune of the good people of Ondo State, as both indigents citizens and sojourners wake up each day with a good reason to smile and live, Thanks to Arakunrin Akeredolu.

What better way will Arakunrin say his heartfelt thank you to the good people of Ondo State. How better can he string up his words, draping them in colors, making a rainbow of them, well befitting to appreciate the good people of Ondo State. A chance to hear directly from the people’s mouth their pains and their gains, a chance to give account of stewardship, an account of good governance based on respect and love for the good people of Ondo State.

The tour train started moving, making its first stop at Irele local government, where the people trouped out en-masses to welcome the man Arakunrin Akeredolu and ever since then, the train has continued to move making its stop at each local government of the state. While Arakunrin continues to dole out his words of gratitude in each local government, he has continued to seize the opportunity to assure the good people of Ondo State of his renewed strength and unwavering commitment to good governance. In one of his Thank You Visit, the governor announced that there would be the creation of Local Council Development Authority (LCDA).
Arakunrin made this call in Irele, headquarters of Irele Local Government Area of the state during his “Thank you “visit to the southern senatorial district of the state, said his administration would conduct a referendum on the LCDA

The governor said the creation of LCDA in the state became imperative to fast track development in the state and also to bring the people of the grassroots closer to the government. He said apart from this, the LCDA would further usher more benefits of governance to the people at the local levels.
Akeredolu said a committee would soon be set up by the state government to ensure the success of the LCDA in the state while he disclosed that the committee would be responsible for the collection of the memoranda from communities seeking LCDA in their area.

While in Ore, Odigbo local government, the governor assured the people of his commitment to ensure that the flyover project will be completed and the region will soon become the economic hub of the state through his plan to ensure a massive industrialization of the area.
In addition, Arakunrin during his visit to the ancient town of Ondo promised that a new teaching hospital will be sited in Ondo west in order to boost healthcare delivery in the region.

As the Tour Train continues to move, touching the nooks and cranny of the state, bearing good tidings from the mouth of the state governor. The people of Ondo State are excited at the dawn of a new era, which has seen them become a major player in the growth and development programmes of the state, thanks to a visionary Governor, Arakunrin Akeredolu.

The Man for Ondo State, Gov Rotimi Akeredolu is turning things around.

A campaign of calumny, maliciously peddled with relentless vigour, against the person of Mr Kunle Adebayo, the Senior Special Assistant, Research and Documentation, and the Chairman, OSRC/Orange FM, has caught the attention of the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu Aketi, SAN.

Some mischievous elements twist facts and disseminate falsehood to mask the dark intentions of their sponsors. The constant attacks on the person of Mr Adebayo has reinforced the confidence of the Government in his diligence, firmness and focus. The recent history and the current state of the two State-owned media organizations, currently under his able supervision, attests, eloquently, to the nature of his intervention.

The people of Ondo state are invited to cast their minds back to the inglorious era of incompetence, gross indiscipline and patent fraud which characterized the operations of these two media organisations. It is impossible for any honest person, who witnessed these deplorable acts of irresponsibility, to be deceived by the orchestrated noises devised to achieve a barely disguised end.

These media outfits were run aground by incompetent elements who harboured a curious sense of entitlement, despite manifest shortcomings. There was virtually no visible legacy of pride other than pervasive decadence. This was the state of affairs when the Governor appointed Mr Kunle Adebayo to oversee the organisations. The success story of the place cannot be written without an enviable mention of the name of this person.

For the avoidance of doubt, the Government of Ondo State will continue to support these media outfits and this outstanding performer to discharge his duties to the people of the State, in the same office, with its active encouragement. It is the most feasible path of decency to tread and we will proceed with courage.

While it is important to reiterate that any staff who merits promotion and support should have nothing to fear, this Government will not fail to sanction, firmly and promptly, any errant interloper deluded to believe in the possibility of employing the instrument of mischief to create disaffection in that establishment.

The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday approved the sum of N30,000 as the new national minimum wage.
This is following the submission of the report of the ad-hoc committee on new minimum wage headed by Senator Francis Alimikhena (APC-Edo North)
The Senate had asked the Federal Government to submit a supplementary budget to cover the new wage structure for consideration and approval.

The new minimum wage bill had already been approved by the House of Representatives.

When penultimate last week Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN muted the idea of a statewide tour, the import, prospect and benefit were not immediately known. Some pessimists and crepe-hangers also dismissed and tagged it as another political jamboree.

Undauntedly, on Monday, 18th March Governor Akeredolu set out for the scheduled week-long statewide tour beginning from Irele Local Government Area, in the Southern Senatorial District of the State. As early as 9:00 am, the people were eagerly waiting for the arrival of Mr Governor at the entrance of Irele – the headquarters of Irele Local Government Area.

When he eventually arrived, Mr Governor had no option than to emerge from his SUV to acknowledge cheers from the excited crowd chanting AKETI. At Igbekebo and Igbokoda the headquarters of Ese- Odo and Ilaje Local Government Areas respectively, the accolades and warm reception didn’t dwindled in spite of the scorching sun.

The people love to see the Governor, not necessarily because of his clean-shaven white handlebars beard. But because Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN has turned Ondo state to one huge construction site. For instance, in the Southern District the ongoing construction of Ore flyover interchange bridge, the 12 kilometer Okitipupa /Igbokoda bypass and many more, all testifying to the singular fact that the Governor is relentless in his pursuit to transform the State.

Although, the Governor statewide tour was tagged a ” Thank You Visit ” it wears the significance of three togas. The visit provides an ample opportunity for Mr Governor to interact with the people -to say thank you for your supports. Not only that, Governor Akeredolu again has the chance to feel his people- their pains and gains

Extemporaneously, too, it presents an opportunity for Mr Governor on one hand to give account of stewardship and the people on the other hand an instant feedback. We saw yesterday, the Governor highlighted projects executed in the various domains visited and the people’s confirmation or observation.

Since assumption of office on 24th February, 2017, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has seen the state as one and thus treated it so. In other words, no part of the state has been neglected so far. The visit provides yet another moment to take midterm assessment of the social contract, vis-a-vis his performance, in terms of projects execution and good governance.

Most importantly, the Governor is at liberty to juxtapose progress reports on files and what is obtainable on sites. Further more, Governor Akeredolu will take a grandstanding areal view of the State as a whole. As the Governor and his entourage move from one Local Government Area to another he’s also on inspection tour of ongoing various projects awarded by his administration. He monitors the quality of jobs and its progress simultaneously.

The statewide tour of Governor Akeredolu is a win-win as it provides an ample opportunity for the people to point out areas where the Governor has faltered and applaud him where he has excelled, so far the approval rating is overwhelming.

The Industrialization efforts of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, will soon receive a major boost as the cassava to ethanol plant at the Ondo /Linyi Industrial Hub within Ore Industrial Park, Ore will soon be ready for operation.

Massive work is currently ongoing on the cassava to ethanol plant. The plant is a product of one of the Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Akeredolu’s administration and the Linyi Municipal Republic in China during the Governor's visit to China last year.

The vision of the Governor to industrialize the state for economy prosperity is yeilding more positive results.

When completed, the cassava to ethanol plant will need 300 to 400 tons of cassava daily. What this means is that cassava farmers in the state will have a ready market at the plant. With an estimation of about 1million tons annually, the cassava to ethanol plant will also afford the state the unique opportunity to key into the Federal Government initiative of Cassava off - takers.

This plant alone provides a window of employment opportunities for the youths in the state.
