tbaba1234: Do not be like those who forget God, so God causes them to forget their own souls: they arethe rebellious ones– (Surah 59:19)And may Allah indeed guide all the Muslim. Insha Allah! Thanks a lot for that piece tbaba234 However I expect that we do a thorough assessment of the reasons why our individual Iman is strong and has been able to stand the test of time not just what we do to forge ahead. Or why it is weak and cannot be made strong even with a nudge as hard as the fact that planet Earth hangs loose in the universe with over 7 billion humans not to mention the other creatures that occupies it. What exactly is Iman? The Merriam Webster Dictionary describes it as; “Fidelity to one’s promises, sincerity of intention, belief and trust in and loyalty to God”. It also calls it “belief in something for which there is no proof”. The Quran says this about Imaan in Surat Hujurat (49/14) Ye have no faith! But ye (only) say ‘We have submitted our wills to Allah’! For not yet has Faith entered your hearts. But if ye obey Allah and His Messenger, He will not be little aught of your deeds: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” That alone is a clear sign. The Holy Quran talks about Science and Astronomy, it talks about signs of the last day. Let’s share experience on those things we’ve seen while growing up that give us the conviction that we are on the right path. Let’s talk about the last hour as described by the Quran. Let’s encourage each other on the purpose of continuity why we certainly must make Al-Jannah |
chaircover: The sibling misbehaves and you report him/her to your partner and let them deal with it.I agree here. However, what happens when your partner does nothing about it or no change is noticed in the siblings attitude? It doesn't necessarily have to result in flogging but a partner's sibling's attitude could be very irritating especially when it's one you expect to be understanding. A man especially with his ego and all would try to protect his territory and maintain his authority in the house. Best thing is for siblings to stay away that way respect is maintained and everybody stays happy. |
I'm still looking out.... |
arbitrage: Thanks. Now go straight to the point of our business interest in question as we are waiting.Hmnnn! Why do i have the feeling that you want to steal my business ideas? Well, if you like we can brainstorm on all the many opportunities there are. Online marketing,FOREX trading, liberty reserve and the many online scams are not my idea of business that will last for a very long time. Are you a marketer? Do you trade in FMCG? Are you in the supply chain of a reputable company? Are you into sevices? Whatever you do, this is the time to break away and be on your own. I'm offering you a chance to confidently write that resignation letter. To say goodbye to that work which has only provided a means of surviving and not living. I'm offering you financial freedom from being a jobless graduate. I'm offering you a meaningful future devoid of government policies and economic meltdown. Let’s look at possibilities of making something from your present area of specialization or other areas achievable.Lets brainstorm, lets work together to develop that your little idea. Everybody might be a link to your success...that next door neighbor may just be the missing bit. Your gardner may be the all important straw who'll break the camel's back and earn you your first millions. |
There’s nothing as restrictive as working from 9 to 5 putting in your best from Monday to Friday sometimes weekends too, even working from home alongside on leave days. Your employer sets off 7.5 percent of your basic salary monthly as pension for you till you're ready to leave or kicked out. You make use of your wardrobe allowance or even beyond it on Hawes and Curtis Shirts, TM Lewin, Suits and designer accessories just to look good for work. You make monthly payments on your car lease, DSTV subscription, Black-berry subscription and internet connection. You make lump sums annually to your landlord all from your salary account. You are only paid for your efforts and unlike the entrepreneur; your brilliant ideas only receive commendation and little or no real monetary rewards. You’re simply helping another man create wealth for him while you make do with your salary which might be insufficient. Think of it as a case of not having your cake and eating it. Have you ever considered setting up a small business and leaving paid employment? Have you thought of starting small and nurturing your business to a big conglomerate? Some of us would have attempted and met brick walls like these in the process:- Finance Political instability Government policies Economic instability Power supply problems I know three friends who started small as traders in a small shop at Balogun market they now own a large consortium of companies. What they had was their little capital outlay and the determination to succeed. They didn’t limit themselves to white collar jobs with the University degree they all had. They didn’t run off to get UK Masters to increase their chances of getting employment. Instead, they created jobs and have over the years put thousands of professionals on their payroll. Their Return on investment (ROI) speaks volumes and their performance in the industry is excellent. Among them you have connectors, Mavens and salesmen who according to Malcolm Gladwell in his book “The Tipping point” are described as follows:- Connectors: “These people who link us up with the world, who bridge Omaha and Sharon, who introduce us to our social circles – these people on whom we rely on more heavily than we realize – are Connectors, people with a very special gift of bringing people together.” Mavens: “A Maven is a person who has information on a lot of different products or prices or places. This person likes to initiate discussions with consumers and respond to requests … they like to be helpers in the marketplace. They distribute coupons. They take you shopping. They go shopping for you … This is the person who connects people to the marketplace and has the inside scoop on the marketplace.” Salespeople: “Mavens are data banks. They provide the message. Connectors are social glue: they spread it. But there is also a select group of people – Salesmen – with the skills to persuade us when we are unconvinced of what we are hearing, and they are as critical to the tipping of word-of-mouth epidemics as the other two groups.” I’m looking for people who have dreams of a brighter tomorrow; Connectors, Mavens or Salespeople who already are in business or who intend investing their time, money and energy in earning returns. Let’s look at possibilities of making something from your present area of specialization or other areas achievable. LETS PARTNER IN BUSINESS. |

Meristem THIS IS RAT POISON!!!! I have hands on experience on a 3 bedroom bungalow project and I swear this poster wrote this list from the warm comfort of his/her jacuzzi! I even have an excel worksheet for my job so far, estimated costs, actual costs and all. OP if you expressly request, I can forward it to you. In naija, everybody knows everything about everything! if u get started on this 15k,15k,5k list, u'd be standed with a concrete slab, an unpaid mortgage, a blown up life savings...and no house. if you dont believe me,try. So many factors determine the cost of a building, like LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION (how many times did I say that?). ***switches back to listening mode*This is one challenge i can't sweep under the carpet. Who is telling the truth between you two and who is telling lies. Well, brabus has his details here. His phone number and BB pin are boldly written on his signature for all to see. You really need to send your costs for everyone to see. Lets know if the step of building an apartment isn't one to take just yet or one not to take at all. We are all nairalanders and we deserve to have a fair idea of what it entails to build a house. You as the expert with all the details can give us a clue. We are all ears Sir. ![]() |
N11m for what type of building? Please explain further.@ spyder880: A twin three bedroom semi detached building. trisurface: Too many of us suffer some irreparable damage when building our homes before the time is right.Do you have better suggestions trisurface? |

Ibadiarann: From my experience, i wanted to access N5m from NHF. I approached a mortgage bank and I was told i needed to get the title documents to the property i wanted to buy. Of course i didnt have any, all i wanted was to access the fund and get a land a build a small bungalow. The staff of the mortage bank asked me to give them N5,0000 to get title documents. This I did and up till today since 2006 i have not heard anything.ibadiarann: That's very sad. 2006 till date is a long time. Six years is enough time to build you a small bungalow if you had made up your mind to save for it. However it was because of situations like this that the mortgage institutions exist in the first place so you won't have to save to buy or build a house. With mortgage institutions you have ready funds to carry out your project once your ability to pay back has been checked by the bank. Like other institutions in the country....IT'S A SORRY SITUATION. jossy26: Very nice topic op, from the info I have about NHF, apart from the monthly contribution for 6months, you also need to provide the certificate of occupancy of the acquired land that you intend to build on before you can be granted the loan.Very true Jossy26. |

ihebrooke: visit https://www.nairaland.com/266315/architectural-master-pieces-new-designs or magictouchstudios..com or call 08032582385Thanks, but i don't mind having another via this thread. |
ayandee: i can see this is an old post. I checked to see if there would be responses from nairalanders as i'm also in such dilemma. Have you considered the cost of building a two bedroom flat? From what i have been able to glean from the numerous posts on this forum on building cost, a 2bedroom (basic with no luxury finishings) flat would cost between 2.3m-3m. Have you also considered the distance of the proposed site to your current place of work? You may also have to change schools for the kids.Buying land is only a step in the building process. I would be glad to read other responses.I really need a good feasibility study of the cost of putting up a two bedroom. I understand a twin semi-detachable three bedroom apartment costs about 11 million naira. The final cost shouldn't pose a problem or you'll get discouraged...a journey of a thousand miles they say starts with one step. The distance is piece of cake and my kids won't mind changing schools if they'll be moving into their own home. I also want to see more responses. |
mybad: Please I need a bit of information regarding mortgage institutions and the NHF scheme in Nigeria. blank: This should be interesting. Hope it gets enough views and replies. It really should! |
Please I need a bit of information regarding mortgage institutions and the NHF scheme in Nigeria. I have heard of instances where people contribute for the 6 month period and are yet to get a mortgage load to buy a house. What really is the method with the numerous mortgage institutions in the country? Which of the banks can one do business with? What’s our experience with obtaining a mortgage loan? |

Hello Nairalanders, I've been thinking of starting a project for sometime now and I wonder if the building I have in mind will fit into the available land. I want to build a Twin three bedroom semi-detachable apartment on a 60/120 plot of land. Plus do a feasibility study on how much each milestone will cost:- that is a stage by stage analysis of the project from foundation stage to window, lintel and then roofing stage. Please I need a professional nairalander who is willing to show his expertise for a fellow nairalander. ![]() |
Cargoed: The question i have for this car owner is very simple? Is your check engine light on? If so why are you asking a question meant for a computer. All the bestMy check engine light is not on, i'm going to do a scan right away. Ikenna351: Like others have advised, scan the car first & you take it from there (even though I can diagnose & fix the excessive fueling issue without scanning it, if it was my car). Good luck. You still dey laugh? Well, i'll do a scan and also go through all your posts and advise my mechanic on what to do...(that's if your posts will help). I think you can stop laughing now oh! ![]() |
If true, the vehicle may be long gone from return to the normal consumption.I seriously feel your pain.Haba! Let the scanner do a definitive diagnosis. Don't write off my car just yet. ![]() |
Novice1: Excessive fuel consumption can be a ightmare. I wish you success in resolving it.Thanks a bunch Novice1. Please where can i get a good mechanic to do a scan for me? |
