Congratulations to Mr Sata. This is a tribute to perseverence. Guy reminds you of Lula da Sylva in more ways than one. I'm keenly interested in how he handles the Chinese, as he made that a big issue during his campaign. He will soon learn the true meaning of globalisation and that the Chinese are a necessary evil around here. |
eGuerrilla:Thank you! |

^^^ I guess your poor reading skills don't float in the air - laziness is at the pith of it. Why not read your first post in thread? *Smh* You have to wonder how some people pass their exams. Lol at "What have I gone and done?" |
@Shy-One It's hard to see the use of telling you what you ask. But I will tell you and co to upgrade your reading skills so that when you read you are able to (1) see the general tone of write-up, that is, whether it's a serious thesis or was meant to be funny, and (2) pay attention to word usage and note modifiers like "always" which I deliberately inserted because of people like you who will miss the intent of the post and start pontificating drearily. Why, ma'am, didn't you ask me what's wrong with her getting me pregnant? |
Em, no, I can't let her pay dowry, or groom price, as you call it. If I do, she will always want to lie on top during sex, will claim the kids as hers, and manize. She may even get me pregnant! |
Obviously LagosShia has verified everything in the Bible and Quran and found there are fairy tales in the former but not the latter! Nimshi:Mama Eve was 87ft 9" tall! |
OLAADEGBU:Still has your lying cap on, sir, or you don't know the meaning of "drop"? You only drop something previously held, not something you never held. I have never defended or repudiated "Darwin's idea" on this forum. Why are you hallucinating? OLAADEGBU: I thought you were gunning for humanist ideologies, but if you disclaim that too then accept my apologies.Lol. I suspect you are getting things mixed up. What do you understand by "humanist ideologies", or what does "humanism" mean to you? OLAADEGBU: Why did you think Adam could attain the physical height of 90ft?Lying against me again, ehn? ehn?? Where have I said I "think Adam could attain the physical height of 90ft"? OLAADEGBU: Does it seem reasonable to you? If the fact that Adam lived for 930 years is preposterous to you then read the link that explains why he and his contemporaries could do so.I'm thinking that is the site you got your "genetics" from. Must be quite some site. But, no, I won't click on it. Thanks, anyway. And wait till someone produces a www.answersinquran.org to explain the genetics at the pith of the 90 foot theory! ![]() |
OLAADEGBU:Disclaimer In attributing evolution to me and assigning me a leader as he did above, Mr OLAADEGBU lied! I'm not an evolutionary biologist and have never purveyed, preached or defended evolution on this forum. Anyone believing the said Mr OLAADEGBU does so at his own risk, as the man has demonstrated he is both able and willing to lie to defend his strange stance of turning up his nose at the idea of a 90 foot Adam while underwriting an Adam that lived 930 years as well as other sundry beliefs which are irreconcilliable with reason. |
mabell:The percentage of the poor is not reducing by the day. Seems the Obasanjo school of economics is gaining converts. Prosperity has increased in Nigeria in recent years as seen in the boom in the property market but it is largely in the hands of a few due to poor growth in the real sector and the fact Nigeria is the land of colossal public looting and patronage which makes a mess of the normal workings of the "free market" economics. People have been lifted out of poverty due to the growth in sectors like telecoms and the opening up brought about by the internet which has had the effect of liberalising such things as international scamming. But would you, ma'am, like to compare the rate at which Nigeria is reducing poverty with those of Brazil, China and even Mozambique or Ghana? Look around you and you will see desperately poor people. And you people need to stop mouthing the lie that when you become born again you become rich! mabell: Why and how you may ask. It's because when a man becomes born again and walks in the true revelation of God's word, he walks in his inheritance in Christ and refuses to recognise the world's system. You are partially right. Pastors tend to create their churches in their own image. Tonye-t once told about a pastor whose followers slap people. Why? Because their leader is belligerent. But these systems are created within an existing system, a system that appears to be anti-human, anti-cultural and anti-commonsense to most objective observers, the Pentecostal movement. Mr Oyakhilome is not the only one who "receives cars almost everyday" around. If what one hears is correct, Mr Adeboye does. Same for Mr Oyedepo. There is something horribly wrong with a system that creates people who go on COLLECTING like a medieval Morrocan king while 70% of the people live in varying degrees of privation. |
Obviously OLAADEGBU is bursting his sides laughing at the idea that Adam was 90 foot tall, but find the story that the same Adam lived for 930 years perfectly credible, rational and true. |
Azibalua:All the above may be true. And all we see here is a house with trucks so people should not speak in absolutes in passing judgement on subject. Having said that, I don't agree with those going on and on about people minding their own business. Christians, and the society at large, ought to be worried about things like this. If it is true Mr Oyakhilome owns, keeps and uses 30 jeeps, please convey my sympathies to him, as all I could feel for him is pity. And, ma'am, there's something seriously wrong with a system that creates a man who "receives cars almost everyday" in any society, but especially one where 70% are poor. |
@frosbel - a few questions: 1. Do you actually type these things or do you get them from websites? 2. How many words do you type per minutes? 3. Don't you think if it's a bit long some people might be put off reading it? Thank you. |
^^^Ok, brother. I guess that's a way of looking at things. ![]() |
Double post. |
@globexl I think your post highlights the matter with atheism. No, I'm afraid scientific enquiries will not reveal God because he/she/it will not show up in any satellite pictures, and will certainly not stop over at your place for dinner tonight. Even if he/she/it did any of the above where are the accepted precedents that might cause a recognition and force a consensus? Only deep personal observation and thinking might help the atheist, not spending time within the sterile confines of a laboratory. By the way, we know how things work, the issue is the cause. And there is certainly no agreement that that cannot be known. When you consider the matter intellectually, nobody has seen or touched God. But it doesn't end there. |
@Deep Sight Thanks for the compliments. Even when we talk about the primordial cause. Certain qualities can be discerned, but using what parameters? Since we are not dealing with matter where we can talk about size, shape and colour there would be too much subjectivity involved and what is discernible to you may not be to someone else. The result is that you only prove things to yourself but not your interlocutor. As for Soyinka, I guess he's an Abrahamic atheist, as he is a well-known Ogun devotee. |
Image123:@bolded Fair enough. |
Enigma:Yeah. You repeated what I already said. By the way, I wasn't referring to your post, since I think it is good you exposed plagiarism as you have apparently done. ("Apparently" because I have not clicked on the links to confirm for myself.) But once that was done there was hardly any need for re-revealing it without contributing anything to the thread. And in no way does the apparent plagiarism here vacate the issues raised, which Joagbaje, Chukwudi44 and Pastor AIO have faced squarely. |
Image123:It sure is a bad thing to be copying and pasting without acknowledging your sources. But that does not on its own vacate op's ideas, does it? I have learnt some things from those who have addressed the ISSUES in op. So what do you think of this idea that the gospel accounts in the Bible were third-party accounts? |
^^^ I think she was addressing the manner people go about trying to "prove" God's existence. Their posers are almost always easily refutable, the funny journalist in op being a perfect example. One cannot have effect without causes, but to go around asking someone, "do you know how mountains form" and expect that that seals the argument is not smart in my opinion. It is a good question, but to expect that it seals the argument is not a good idea. We know how mountains form, what we don't know - speaking from the point of view of the intellect - is what causes the how. That is not something anyone can answer. And that is why I seriously doubt you can "prove" the existence of God to anyone. |
Ansel1:Revelation is great but on a purely literary basis I would pick the poetic books for most beautifully written. Feel free to deem these easy nominations, though. Now, it would be hard to pick one but in terms of poetry, elevated language, imagery, high drama and exquisite prose, I think Job is in a class of its own. Aristotle won't buy the ending but I will say the writers had it all laid out right from the prologue, such that the audience or reader is not left asking "hee, jus now?" the way a typical Yoruba movie leaves you. And not in outlandishness can even the Revelation compete. |
Double post |
PA1982:Lol. Op's an important question, I think. PA1982: What IS important is that the peoples of that sect have free access to that information. Was trying to convey this point to a man of religion in another thread using god-knows-how-many words. You put it so well here. |
Interesting thread. No surprising responses yet, which is not surprising considering the topic. Good points, Ancel. |
^^^ I also called the man passionate - as indeed he is - and I think PA was referring to me. PA, Refer to my Concise History of Frosbel. No, this poster doesn't feel anything when he reads this sort of thing. In a forum like this you associate certain conducts with certain usernames. Just like here at the office. |
JeSoul:He he. I wanna learn how to crawl the web and burst people too. Any tips, JeSoul? |
wesley80:You credit the Americans with too much power. Yes, oil is not drugs you can keep in your underpants but are you aware of what is going on at the Gulf of Aden where the navies of the world, including those of the US and the UK, are trying with minimal success to stop Somali pirates? You acknowledge that Nigerian bunkering is not as important to the US as drugs and terrorism (actually, it's not an issue at all), can you explain why they should spend taxpayers' money on a matter that is not important to them? If your argument is that the US ought to enforce its own laws and stop stolen items from being stolen in its territory, of course, it should. But you have to show that this is the crux of this problem. For one thing, we don't know that the bulk of the oil being stolen from Nigeria is being sold in the US - I would be surprised if it is. If it is, that is a law enforcement problem and someone should be beating down the doors of the FBI and presenting them with evidence or giving them tips. Even if the US stops the oil from being sold in its territory, the Nigerian bastards and their foreign collaborators will simply expand other markets. The solution lies in Nigeria. Our law enforcement agents should stop oil from being stolen from here. If they can't, too bad. The question you should ask yourself is, if American diplomats in Nigeria know that a first lady was involved in bunkering, did the SSS, the EFCC, the Navy and Police know? If they didn't, why? If they did, did they inform the President? If they did that, what became of the memo or whatever they sent to him? You are right about our security agencies being ill-equipped to handle this problem, but being ill-equipped is just a convenient subterfuge. What does it take to get equipment other than to place order for them? Or is it that we have no money to buy a few boats and night vision equipment and special weapons to save the country between 2 and 7 billion dollars a year? In matters of this nature, our security agencies are the weakest link in our security. Read that article again. Generals and admirals are involved in this business. As are first ladies, ministers, traditional rulers, militants and villagers. I am at a loss as to how the Americans are supposed to help us. |
wesley80:No, the US government does not have the wherewithal to end this overnight. You made a comparison with the drug problem - has the US government been able to solve that one? No. They commit a lot of resources to that war yet it is still there. If they add this one to their plate they will have to commit a lot of resources to it and since it doesn't score high on their of order of national priorities, why should they do for Nigeria? And maybe I missed it, but the article does not say anything about all the stolen oil ending up in the US. This problem is like terrorism - our local bad guys have invited low life organised criminals from all over the world and there is a thriving business going on. Do you really think that if they are stopped from selling in the US they will throw their hands in the air and close shop, seeing that there are no other places to sell their loot in the world? The only people that can solve this problem is the Nigerian government. Others can help, yes, but there is so much they can do. Look at common money laundering - how many people has the UK jailed for stealing Nigerian money? How many has Nigeria itself jailed? Ibori was larger than life here; they allowed to him to escape, yet he was arrested in Dubai like the common criminal he is and was subsequently shipped to the UK where he is facing trial like the common criminal he is. If this state of affairs continue will corrupt people simply not avoid the UK and Dubai in future and do their thing in Nigeria and other corruption-friendly countries? Is it not clear then that the only people who can fight corruption in Nigeria in a sustained manner are the Nigerians themselves? |
wesley80:So in your view the Americans should send troops to tackle this or send our government money the way they send to the Colombian and Mexican and governments to fight drugs. And if you were the US government you would place this on the same scale as the illegal drugs being peddled on American streets and destroying the lives of that country's young people. Interesting. |
You do have a good knowledge of the Bible, no doubt, but you have not answered the questions. Ok, you have provided a book answer to "what is truth" but not in the context in which it is asked here. It is asked against the reality of the word being seen to drop from people's mouth like ripe cashews from an overburdened tree, not least of all you. And you have not said anything about how you know the truth. |
