You say churches are currupting the truth, what is this truth and how do you know it? |
@omo alaro Great post. Thank you. A few qualms here and there, but on the whole, great post. |
If you're going to someone's house to have s.ex, why would you bring a bible- that doesnt make sense and shows something is up. And a person doesnt have to be christian before they know to avoid dangerous people.
Nothing is up. Not necessarily. You need to understand the format. A girl works Monday to Friday. On Saturday she is home doing housework and has to squeeze out time for choir practice. Sunday is the only day she gets time off work and out of her parents' watchful eyes. Opportunity comes but once a week, so she can't let it go by. And so she leaves her parents' house for the church conservative, leaves the church for Dandas' house liberal, and in nine months goes into labour! (nuclearboy: 2010). That is the story of Dandas' Bible-clutching "fornicators". |
Soon after, he took this this section by storm, firing from all cylinders. His targets? Muslims, atheists, Catholics, JWs, Methodists, Jews, WOFs - just anyone but himself. Not since the days of Abuzola the Great had we been witnesses to anything like it. Not that his considerable writing skills would let you compare him to Abu. An atheist soon opined that he was on steroids! But he wasn't. Just a passionate man, frosbel. I hope he learns a bit of humility from this thread. Don't we all need a bit of it? |
@PA1982 No, it doesn't matter. I wasn't asking, Prescious, since I believe there's no mistake. I was telling Oga frosbel. When you settle more into NL you will understand the man better. You may even like him if you like passionate people. Reminds me of the days back in the Foreign Affairs section when he was the resident Zionist in chief. You uttered an unflattering word against the State of Israel and he made straight for your throat, a pointed knife in each hand. Then one cool summer day he discovered that he had been duped and Israel was no longer his God's beloved. And, horror of horrors, that was how the Jewish state lost its most aggresive backer on this Land and Netanyahu and co no longer did no wrong. |
Oga frosbel, I think she's actually a Christian. |
@PA1982 You can't blame the parents. If they are poor why should they spend their meagre resources on the pastor's child when they have other responsibilities to mind? Besides poligamy is accepted in Nigeria, although there are matters in cases of court marriage and Catholic weddings. The randy pastor will get used to having a second wife. @op This rap.ist billy-goat is lucky he does not live in a civilised society, which Nigeria is not. He would be headed to jail by now. |
Abuzola. |
To the authorities. Yes, that is the police. |
seyibrown:But what if it was a robbery he went for "yesterday" where he made this made this "financial breakthrough"? Just kidding. @op Let the beer flow, but you should have hinted us what it's all about. |
^^^Here's what I think you are missing: wordtalk:Maybe you are right about where some of the money might end up since we don't know all about any clauses discussed, but he did not give IN ORDER to proporgate the gospel. He gave for education. |
JeSoul:I'm good. You? I think Joagbaje sees the relationship between a Christian and his pastor as that between a patient and his doctor - the doctor has the final say. I think it's different. In any case the doctor doesn't have the final say, and there are good and bad doctors, drivers, plumbers and lawyers. . . . Myjoe, how body now?

I'm good. You? ^^^ For one thing, failing to report a felony is of itself an offence. |
^^^ While I agree with Evil Brain that Joagbaje has too high opinion of pastors, I agree with him on the point about people having influences exercised over them, even in marriage. In fact, I would ask anyone, especially the woman, going into a marriage to find out who the proposed spouse's influences are. "You must have been blessed with great friends and good advice all these years." "No, I'm self-made." "Who is your role model?" "Jesus Christ!" Ok. I would tell a girl planning to go into marriage that when her husband starts misbehaving there should be someone she can pick up the phone and call, someone the man is certain to at least listen to. Of course, that person may just be his pastor. It might be someone else. Personally one of the human beings I respect most and will pick up his call at 2am and listen to him talk till dawn is an elderly friend who is, by pure coincidence, a pastor. Not my pastor, since I am no churchgoer, but a pastor. I think Joagbaje is right about someone playing this role in a man's life. Where he gets is wrong is the idea that it must be your pastor. |
@justhappy That's one good thing about coming on here. You learn that for every Bible literalist religious crackpot out there, there's nearly one thinking Christian. |
justhappy:Lol. "comparing scripture with scripture". Lol |
I don't eat beans much, but on the occasions I do, I never gas - whatever the type of beans. Because I eat it straight from the fire. Once beans cools down, even if for a few minutes, it's already infested. Forget all those procedures. |
Outstrip:Too late. You should recommend anti-phsychotic drugs for him. |
I won't mind a stint in purgatory for the neighbour's white goat that took a bite from my lunch one afternoon back in the days as a kid. Yep, animals do sin. |
^^^You call relentlessly using two ids to reinforce someone's supposed badness not being serious? |
Zikkyy: ![]() |
Have you tried any of these vitamin drugs that induce appetites? A bottle of Holland and Barrett's Pure Cod Liver Oil has done wonders for a lady I know. The only alternative is, you think of all the reasons you should eat well (they are many) and force yourself to eat. If you can eat sizable amounts, make it three times a day. If not, you will have to eat more frequently. |
Free education is good. And no, state governments should not exclude non-indegenes. If there are any states that do that, shame on them. But using public funds to sponsor people religious pilgrimage? *smh* |

^^^ You used the word overwhelmingly fraudulent in one of your posts in that thread when talking about the preaching of tithing today, that means you also share the point that tithing may not be bad in itself and you would all (excluding the compulsory tithists, of course) be saying the same thing in that respect. It is the way it is being preached and applied today that you are concerned about. I think your point is that there is the danger that voluntary or not, once tithing is preached, it is likely to result in negative consequences. You are concerned that while what is viaro is saying may look good on paper, the practice of tithing we see in practice is a sinister scheme which is enriching the church elite. Therefore, you believe, Christians should stop talking about tithing and instead talk of giving which is clearly what is emphasized in the New Testament. That is, “voluntary tithing” which benefits “the least of Jesus’ brothers” is not being practiced by churches, so people need to stop pretending anything good can come out of tithing and instead focus on the problem at hand. It is hard to fault that argument, but biblically speaking, I don’t think the fact that a particular teaching has caused problems is enough to condemn what God has not (Acts 10:15). Since the argument that willingly giving a certain percentage of your income is wrong cannot be sustained biblically, it follows that the reverse argument cannot be dismissed. Enigma: @nuclearboyThere is a strong point there. Yes, only viaro can clarify his view on that. |
^^^ Yes, but these ought to be spontaneous personal spiritual endeavours, not the orchestrated congregational bazaars we see today. Those are unscriptural. |
@chukwudi44 I don't know about wordtalk but the way I recall it viaro's position on tithing is that (1) the preaching of tithing as a Christian requirement is wrong, (2) there are no biblical injunctions against giving a certain percentage of your income, (3) tithing or not ought to be a personal matter. That is the way I see the matter; in fact, beyond all the rhetorics these are the bare facts and I am yet to see a good argument formulated against them. Nothing ambiguous there, but I guess viaro said them in too many words. |
@op One of the more obnoxious practices of modern day Christianity, particularly in these parts, a carryover from the African traditional systems of worship. @Joagbaje Biblically speaking, there is no reason to believe that Jesus made a practice of this or that it was an apostolic tradition. In the text you quoted Jesus went to pray and he was moved to go on for the whole night. It was not planned and no one was invited, as it was a personal spiritual endeavour. |
^^^Ha! He's allowed four wives naa. I hear he has only three yet so you have nothing to be afraid of. |
Greenpro: The issue is not about usury, but the consequence of the name Islamic with the practice,in Nigeria setting it means more than the ordinary name.Would you be so kind to explain the consequence please? |
stagger:It is in particularly bad taste to insult people's families and that should not be condoned. But you should not use your military links or connections to settle personal scores. |
toluxa1: Lol. I agree. Register him here - https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-736492.0.html.See who this guy has eaten! ![]() |

The Abrahamic tithe thing is just a front, pastors need money and they will do whatever it takes to get it out of the congregation.
