PPR Alert!!!!! ALHAMDULILHHH!
The Journey started on the 5th of October 2021, when I put in an SOWP application for my wife and the wait started. At fist it took more than 24 hours to get a fingerprint request form IRCC it was then I knew I was in for a long wait. We did upfront medical which was not even opened or even acknowledged until January 10th, 2022. Before the medical was updated to passed, I was furious that nothing was happening on my wife’s application, so I reached out to the MP of my province. This I think was the best thing I did. The MP was very helpful, and it was not until he reached out to them before the medical was updated to passed. Apparently, he called and told me that they had been working on my application just that they weren’t updating on my wife’s GC key portal. After another two months -March I reached out to the MP again and this was when he came back to tell me that Eligibility review has started which I did not get an update again. At this point I was a bit relieved that after this eligibility then nothing left. Waiting was killing but being optimistic was relieving. Then I spoke to a friend turned brother which I met on this platform we spoke and encouraged each other. He advised I kept disturbing them with emails and webform which I obliged. At the end of May I reached out to the MP to make inquiry on my behalf which he did and told me that the eligibility was passed. It was at this moment that I increased the frequency of my email to Abuja and Nairobi as well as telling my wife to do the same thing. On June 30 they dropped correspondence letter without PPR. I started firing them with email and webform. On July 7 my wife received the PPR.

To everyone here I say a big thank you and to friends expecting PPR may the good lord grant your heart desires soonest.

Applied for VV on Nov. 23rd, 2021, and it was rejected on Dec 7th, 2021. Beginning of my depression
Applied for another VV on Feb 20th, 2022 and it was rejected 24th April 2022. Depression got deeper and I stopped going to the Lab (working from home but with low productivity). Finished my winter semester and my graduate coordinator, advisors and everyone around me felt so sad for me and I also felt sad for myself. At this point, I was already like I'm leaving Canada and I literarily got no positive view of Canada.
I went to my MPs office and they are literarily doing nothing and just saying I need to wait till the processing time elapse.
Eligibility Started June 14th. Then I started to fire email, and webform everyday.
Yesterday I sent an email to all of the offices from my own email telling them how depressing I am. Here I attached my transcript enrolment letter, updated finance, and landed document to Abuja, Lagos, London, and Nairobi.
I couldn't sleep overnight so one of my good brothers here that I pray that Allah grant his wife the PPR (today Bihitnillah) called me and we spoke and pray that we hear from IRCC soon. After some minutes I received an email from Abuja that I need to send a webform and I immediately responded to their email by saying I have done that 1000000 times. Well, after like 1 hr I stood up to see what webform they even asked me to send. As I sat on my chair like this I just saw the Golden email from on my wife's email (I have access to my wife's email) and it was at that time that I went on sujud (prostration) to Glory the Lord that created the earth and peg it with the rocks.

My fellow Nairalanders! Please felicitate with me because my God is good and kind to me, to him alone be all the glory.
I just received my long awaited PPR. VV for the spouse of an international student. I learnt a lot from this forum and it is very imperative I give back.

My first application was submitted June 2021
Resubmitted a new application via the new portal January 9 2022.
Refusal letter February 9 2022 (Refused Based on Family ties)
I ordered GCMS notes same day.
Reapplied February 22 2022
PPR April 7 2022


A refusal letter hits differently, I was devastated because I thought I had a strong and convincing application. It took me about 2 weeks to get myself to write a new LOE and SOP.

A sweetheart on this platform @mzjanez01 reached out to me and advised I reapply without the notes. She was kind to share how her husband tackled his refusal reasons as well. Jane, you are far too kind oh! Thanks for all the prayers and kind words.

My GCMS notes arrived on the 12th of March, it seems to be the shortest GCMS notes have seen. The VO wrote that “ applicant has strong family ties in Canada”. To be honest, I was disappointed because I was expecting a more detailed notes. (I kuku report the VO to God)
Luckily for me the VO concern has been addressed in the new application.

What i did to Tackle the refusal reason based on family ties? I strengthened my HOME TIES. Having surfed through YouTube and Other forums, I realized that no one knows your story more than YOU when it comes to addressing Home/Family Ties.
I explained my responsibilities to my parent, I wrote extensively about how important my career in Nigeria is, my personal business and ongoing projects.

Aside being an employee of a reputable agency, I further explained my other commitments and responsibilities that will make me return back to Nigeria and I supported my explanations with valid documents. Although the commitments were briefly mentioned in the first application but this time it was detailed and I connected how my absence will affect each of them. I included more documents to support each claim unlike the first application. To be honest, it wasn’t by the documents but God was fully involved. I think Baba God was tired of me murmuring my application number every morning and night, hence the PPR. lol!

The wait for PPR isnt for the faint hearted especially when you see people who applied after you sharing their timelines (e go come be like say na only you waka come). God of NLP answers prayer, I prayed and fasted fervently for this PPR. Chail! IRCC messed with my mental health. The plan was to visit my spouse after his first academic year but I couldn’t because of the pandemic. As it is, the visa got approved just in time for convocation (graduation is this summer) although Graduation wasn’t stated for purpose of visit, it was plainly “family reunification “


May this kind of joy go round. To all PPR hopefuls, it is just a delay not a denial.

Tbh they are not working on your file or MAYBE they’re tho, only the gcms note can tell. For me i contacted several MPs in different provinces I was told eligibility is in progress. I have applied for GCMS notes twice. First Gcms, my file was not touched, Second Gcms same thing my file wasn’t touched eligibility was not in progress, the only changes I saw was the messages all the MP sent IRCC enquiring about my file. IRCC told the MPs eligibility is in progress which in the Gcms notes it wasn’t.

So maybe you apply for a GCMS and know exactly what’s going on with your file.

Please can you give a guide to on how to apply for GCMS note, as me no understand the stuff ooo. Can we apply through IRCC portal or how ? Thank you in advance

this is very weird, send an email or raise a webform using application number info since there is no UCI, there is always an application number at least. explain what is going on and also confirm if the funds for the application has left your account, maybe it hasn't left and they are dealing with the pending transactions. in any case this is not normal state your issues. to be honest any little inconvenience in this Canada race raise a webform or sound out in an email to be safe.

I started application for my wife for SOWP however after 24 hours we have not received a BIL. Also we got a message that we have changes to her application my thought was that this was going to be the BIL however it wasn't. I also noticed that she does not have a UCI number and under the Details about application status they have started background check and application in progress under review of eligibility. Please what does this mean ? as I find it surprising that without Biometrics background check has started, Please enlighten me on this......... Thank you

Don’t know about this, but if it’s the same marriage certificate given in the registry, I don’t think you need to authenticate it.

I don't know about this but also cannot say for sure until we get approved/PPR.

But in our own case, we submitted the only marriage certificate we have which was issued by the officiating minister (Imam) at our wedding then witnessed by all parents and/or their proxies. It also has 50% of content in Arabic - which we didn't translate. So I am not able to comment on its acceptability until after a decision is received.

However, I had used the same document as proof of marriage for 13-years (at some point in the US as international student and got my family dependent visas. I also included it in my successful visitor visa application to Canada a decade ago - just me - and it was part of my positive study permit application earlier in 2020.

But if you can do anything to submit a tighter application document please always do!

you are right bro. I recieved a mail from d coordinator of my program on why I was rejected last year and she hinted that how well the motivation letter is written will determine if one will get up to the 66per cent score to stand a chance of being admitted.now, when I revisitedthe motivmotivation letter I submitted, I discovered some mistakes(grammatical), and structural problems. And most importantly, tartu is competitive may be due to its high ranking. I think effort should be placed more on the motivation letter and prayer and see if this year's application ill be fruitful.
