I used to live there around 2004/2005, it was a lovely place. There're 4 buildings in total, 3 were rented out for accommodation & 1 was an old age home. Around 2006 they're started coming & we all left because we knew what was about to happen. I hope they found a place for the old people we left there embarassed
That's bad , I seriously hope they moved the old people to a better place . angry

Here.
Not suprised by this , everywhere you find them in huge numbers, the place is bound to turn into a big slum. I seriously don't understand why maintaining their surroundings is such a foreign concept to them. But I blame the citizens who rent out their properties to them.

On another thread about a Nigerian guy who was killed in a car accident in South Africa, some of them were lamenting about how the guys who are based in South Africa & elsewhere, are stunting on them when they return home. They come driving better cars, according to one poster, unlike the 2nd hand lemons you see making a fleet on their muddy highways.
LMFAO. When it comes to SA , Nigerians ;

Shame probably. If you knock Nigeria and praise another Nation you had better return to Nigeria better than when you left as proof that that Nation was worth burning your britches over. I expect that this common reason is worst now if you're a Nigerian that traveled to South Africa since South Africa is tarnished. A Nigerian that returns from South Africa these days would be looked down upon even by the lower class Nigerians for whom South Africa was once a sort of Economy "Abroad".

no if's, but's or probably about this one, i have first-hand knowledge of been-to-South-Africa Nigerians and they're now mocked unfortunately. Nigerians unlike many blacks tend to loose respect for people that maltreat them. South Africa is diminished these days in our eyes.
LMFAO, dude whatchu on about? .

You laugh at Nigerians coming to SA? Do you think they care ?. They are still flocking to SA in huge numbers, clearly the almost a million who are here as we speak have no self respect grin grin.

I remember one Nigerian lady kaloku, I used to do my hair at her salon. All 3 of her kids were born here, but at the time she only had 1 child, Ada. Ada was about 7 or 8 back then. They decided to go to Nigeria for a visit. They were supposed to be gone for a few months, but had to cut their trip short because their daughter didn't like the place, she wanted to "come back home" & wouldn't relent. You could tell that the mother was hurt by the rejection. I wonder how the other 2 will react when they have to go visit the homeland grin
LMFAO, poor children . I find it funny that some here are pretending not to know that, Nigerians in SA would rather sleep under sewage pipes than be returned back home. I wonder why ? cry.

My thoughts exactly! They like to striptease when they try to act tough grin TBH, South Africans have been quiet & enduring this rubbish long enough. If the police don't put this under control, ordinary South Africans will take the law in their own hands once again. Nigerians will not have the last word in South Africa. Never! Mark my words.
LMFAO @striptease . I wonder if it's a cultural thing cry. Almost everytime I see a Nigerian getting arrested, he has to strip and make a lot of noise , it's irritating. I think they came to SA thinking , it's just another African country where you can do as you please without repercussions . Big mistake!. But they are learning in the worst ways.

You break the law, you will get arrested. End of story.
Exactly. He probably took off his own clothes , to cause a scene and a nuisance of himself as they usually do. If he had a driver's license and all his papers were in order , there was no need for this. You go to a foreign nation to demonstrate your lawlessness and expect to treated with dignity and respect? Not in SA!. He is lucky this was not Lagos.

There are also many ugly guys, with nothing to offer undecided. The looks of an individual don't define his/ her strengths and weaknesses. There are many good looking people who are hardworking , there are also many ugly un-ambitious people. I know good looking people tend to get more priviledges in society than their not- so attractive counterparts, and it's usually not their fault but that of society. Yes , there are pompous good for nothing pretty boys out there, who think looking good guarantees them success in life , very irritating bunch they are.

always making me to laugh when you said Nigeria people are poor. in what way ? is it not the same South Africa where Siemens and mtn are donating kits and drugs for Hiv/aids endemic patient. they even go to all your villages and communities to check more on the high rate of HIV'/aid diseases. up till tomorrow, United Nations and Bill Gates still donates, food, drugs and money to those that have HIV and aids diseases. Infact it's at high rate. in South Africa, in a family of 5, you will 3 families of members having HIV and aids. even there grannies even. this high rate of HIV endemic diseases is been much due to high rate of uneducated people in South Africa. not to talk much, google it. stop praising your country OK. the likes of your people comes to Nigeria every weekend to seek deliverance from t.b Joshua from demons that's been troubling their generations.

hehee, this time around i will not be writting plenty, i will simply recommend a book for you to learn, i see you are founding it hard to be educated online, maybe manual process will break the YOKE, The book is called Wat nou, Suid-Afrika? in English, it is translated What now, South Africa? written by Theuns Eloff. it should not be more than 100 rand so get that piece of academic paper to change your life.

i am matured enough to be comparing online statistics with you, i am more abreast with the subject, so i am presenting the content to you. it is now left for you to prove me wrong by either going to your national library or visiting online links like what you are doing now . it is one way of the way i am using to educate you. Nigeria wealth is not in oil but in her people. that is why many of her citizens are representing her in various disciple home and abroad. (i am aware your countries has a lot of american expatriate and foreign national in her medicine, pharmacy and diamond industry) A new report suggest that Nigerian immigrant in the USA are the most educated African immigrant, i am sure UK will not be left out. in Nigeria There is a big chunks of people with qualifications in just more than one discipline with MBAs and PHDs! so Many citizens are qualified in the best universities around the world. education is in Nigerians DNA.

You can start almost any business of your choice or industry in NIGERIA.maybe investors would one day discover the wealth of this nation which is not in oil but in human capital. The true wealth and progress of Nigeria is its extraordinary human capital, and passion for education. Unleash that and no one can stop her! not the so called social welfare that is simply an academic exercise. SO MANY BLACK SOUTH AFRICANS ARE POOR FINANCIALLY AND INTELLECTUALLY. i hope you will also go online like you did earlier to buttress this point friend. i need to put my pen down here.
LMFAO, you are dancing around like a headless chicken . Prove you wrong in what? . Haven't I shown you the life of the average South African and that of the average Nigerian? grin. I know it's hard to take in, but you need to embrace the truth and find ways to fix your nation, not run off to enjoy the sweat of other men like the leeches you have proven yourselves to be. Prove my stats wrong wink.

LOL, you have Nigerians helping westerners make their countries great, while your own home looks like a zoo? grin. That's smart cheesy. We dummies of the South , choose to go and study in those world class institutions, then after graduating headback to SA to improve our home. We invite well skilled expatriates to help us out where we lack , thereby transferring skills to the youth. That's better than what the intellectuals of Nigeria do ; importing everything including 1900's trains they can't even maintain without the Chinese cheesy. Being the intellectuals of the world must a curse, because the home of intellectuals has the worst cities, the worst standards of living , the worst education system, the worst Healthcare system.

LOL, there he goes sounding intellectual again. I did go digging online, you stone grin, and the stats everywhere say ; NIGERIANS ARE THE POOREST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD, ONLY THE ELITE HAVE ACCESS TO THE MOST BASIC AMENITIES grin. NIGERIA HAS ONE OF THE LARGEST NUMBERS OF ILLITERATES IN THE WORLD.

SA WILL BE A FIRST WORLD COUNTRY BEFORE NIGERIA , that is a fact .

BYE.

My SA friend is now speaking from emotions instead of giving out fact, i am more mentally balance to be disturbed by your insult and gutter language. i will still educate you here again like i did earlier. you see you do not raise a point apart from bringing in personal attack and unnecessary defend. i assume you own a university degree, so act like an intellectual.

Before i go on educating you about the benefit that comes along for being a Nigerian. let me quickly summarize why your country SA IS NOT IN ANYWAY BETTER AND SHE IS STILL REGARD AS A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY. your country SA is a country of contrast- very rich and very poor, very urban and very rural.in fact the most unequal country in the whole world is SA. The gap between the poor and the rich is of extreme in margin despite government initiative. Deals with this problem first and likewise other problems i am listing here The use of Internet is not accessible to everyone, Technology like a simple computer is not accessible to everyone neither do some of you know how to use them.Electricity Load shedding at random, Water is cut at random, Dirt roads are found in a lot of places.Shacks make a very large community.Learning is held in very poor conditions and classrooms are not good enough for people to be in. let your corrupt leader solve this one first, then i will consider them a step ahead of NIGERIA.

Now let me educate you about the most populous black country in the world . Nigeria. my friend ask me what is the benefit of being a Nigerian?
Being a NIGERIAN, we entitled you to be born in land of massive opportunity, despite the inadequacy of the government and corruption in the country, the margin of the rich and poor is not as extreme like that of SA but it is visible, there are abundant opportunity to kick start in NIGERIA that has been overused in SA . in NIGERIA , Her citizens would fare better if it fully utilizes its full potential in terms of agriculture, mining, forestry, tourism etc…all of which are currently virtually untapped, but have huge and massive potential. Not only would Nigeria beat SA, but it would rise to the top economies of the world. so the hope of a good leadership to annexed this potential is what every Nigeria is looking forward to.

well,it is easy to mistake the lack of infrastructure in Nigeria for lack of development.(THOUGH THERE IS MASSIVE INFRASTRUCTURE GOING ON) I will be the last person to say Nigeria is not developed , not because I am a Nigerian but because I understand certain thing. Although i agree it is not yet a first world country, but not lesser to south Africa, they are many report out there suggesting that the west could be dependent more on Nigeria and her citizens than Nigeria and are citizens depend on them. NIGERIA IS EVEN A BIG AID DONNER TO SOME AFRICA COUNTRIES.just a certain individual in Nigeria by the name jimoh ibrahim paid a whole civil servant of Sao tome principle salary when the country went broke. there are countries that have only one or no power plant serving the entire Nation but Nigeria has lots. It is nearly impossible to count the number of companies in Port Harcourt, Lagos and nnewi or ogun state. There are software startups like andela and testing companies like Tezza and this companies are growing day by by day.

Now the problem, The population is about 180 million so the country needs far more industries , far more power plants far more roads, bridges and building to feel developed. so Nigeria problem is bigger than yours due to her size in population and land area. just like how china/india problem is bigger than NIGERIA. BUT When a country accounts for the richest set of people in Africa then NIGERIA is great. Nigeria is one of the few countries you can live to become richer than PHD holder even if you are a university drop out.i am not exaggerating , i know what am saying. the potential is just there. NIGERIANS spent close to 1000 dollars just to visit south Africa excluding BTA, that should be about 14,000 rands according to my rough estimation. that is a lot of cash to south Africans. this money is made in NIGERIA. and the potential of getting such amount by south africans themselves is very slim(especially among blacks) NIGERIANS CITIZENS ARE ADVENTUROUS, you will find them almost in every places. even Somalia or Iraq. it is not always about the value in the country, it is about the human instinct and the cultural value of survival that is spread in the country.'' until you live your comfort zone, you will never know the meaning of life''.

Many of you guys do not realize Nigeria is actually moving forward, albeit slowly. People are beginning to ask questions, people are beginning to get restless, more and more people are beginning to get educated on what is happening in the government. the election system is now more credible than it was, Eventually, more people are gaining enough interest in the politics of Nigeria. people are now demanding for accountability, the wish to actually vote out all the bad leaders and vote in competent and well educated leaders into power is now the news of the day. as you can see here on the political section of nairaland. this attitude will eventually lead to emergence of competent people, and this set of PEOPLE will start running for political offices, instead of leaving it to misfits.

Nigeria will get there eventually, maybe before you though. this is not just hope, it is the tenacity that hold every right thinking minded Nigerians.

AS you can see, i do not mention cosmetic or fancy ceremonial project that you accolade with south Africa here, i gave a practical response to your question. what is the use of social welfare if it is not affecting the lives of the blacks in SA, it is this not a shame or political disgrace.
You are the one being all emotional, you are telling me; if Nigeria would do this and that, then Nigeria would be great. On the other hand ,I'm showing you what we are doing and the progress we have made in the last 24 years . So who is being realistic here ? Show me the numbers; the budget for the things that will make Nigeria great , I showed you mine didn't I? Show me the stats on people who have access to basic amenities , mine are below. Yes , you have a lot of billionaires than any African country , infact even more than some first world countries, but would a sane nation celebrate 10 people living large while +/-80% of the population doesn't even have the basics of basics? . I would rather have more millionaires , more middle class and systems that cater for the vulnerable , thank you.

1. 90% of the South African population has access to 24hrs of electricity. Check the link below. I hear the opposite is the reality for you, 80% have no electricity, you can prove me wrong though.

https://www.iol.co.za/news/south-africa/nearly-90-of-sa-has-electricity-stats-2030406

2. 92,5% of SA households have access to improved drinking water. Check the link below .

http://www.statssa.gov.za/?p=9145

Nationally, the percentage of households with access to improved sanitation facilities increased from 62,3% in 2002 to 80% in 2015.

VS

Nigeria where 108 million don't have access to clean water and toilets. Check below.
http://allafrica.com/stories/201711200158.html

3. The literacy rate of SA vs Nigeria ; SA 86.40% vs Nigeria 68.90%. You can check the link below . Literacy means the ability to write and read , this is where develoment begins , way before you think of tertiary education.

http://www.africlandpost.com/ranking-african-countries-literacy-rate-zimbabwe-1/

4. This is a list of countries by total road network size, both paved and unpaved. SA is number 10 in the world and you are at number 29. You can provide a much more reliable source if you can , this is from Wikipedia afterall.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_road_network_size

5. In ICT development, SA is ranked at number 3 in Africa, Nigeria at number 15.

http://www.konbini.com/ng/lifestyle/nigeria-15th-ict-development-africa/

6. Life expectancy in SA is 64 years

http://www.cabsa.org.za/South-African-Life-Expectancy-Rise-1072017

Vs

Nigeria which is 54.5 years.

http://www.worldlifeexpectancy.com/nigeria-life-expectancy

7. You mentioned shacks/ slums . 80% of SAns live in formal housing with electricity and water . This Stats below are from 2014, will check the latest .

http://www.statssa.gov.za/?p=6429

You talked about the scarcity of water , fool, do you know what drought means? cheesy. That's why there was a thread here in foreign affairs with people of Cape Town queuing for water , they are the most affected . This has nothing to do with incompetence or lack of infrastructure, Cape Town still remains the best city in Africa even with that problem grin.

The things I mentioned above , are some of the most important indicators of development and progress, and after 60 vs 24 years , the other seems to be moving at a higher speed in improving the lives of all, whille the other is focused on the rich who make up less than 1% of the population. If that's not embarrassing, I don't know what is. SA is gearing itself towards joining the first world nations, but first we have to take care of all our people. That is why in the earlier post I showed you the money being put on education, skills and business development for the previously disadvantaged. The policies being implemented in January will help grow the economy and new players will emerge in the formal economy . We refuse to have a big GDP that does not reflect on the ground . If you can stop preaching to me how much you are industrious and adventurous as Nigerians, and how you think SA is not working, and kindly show me ; what Nigeria is doing to give her people basic amenities, how much are you investing in your education and Healthcare? , the grants in place to encourage entrepreneurship ?. You say the benefit of being a Nigerian is what again? grin. How come you all are running in your numbers from that huge consumer market to less populated countries where getting rich quickly is not part of the culture , people in those countries care more about quality of life , comfort and the ease of everyday life. How come you get there and queue for benefits of those nations ? .
