wow , how is the woman going to smooth-talk her way out of this one just to clarify, classic fm is kenyan, not south african as the poster stated |

@ all I think I can safely tell you south african police routinely use torture while arresting or searching suspects, I have heard/ read of many south africans who have been suffocated with a plastic bag, beaten and shot at by police (with crime being so high here u can imagine the numbers). Many of u are getting all emotional and turning this into a SA hates nigeria issue, its actually not. Just google south african police torture/kill suspects and you will see for yourself, check the names of the suspects they often not nigerian. see this link as example www.iol.co.za/news/south-africa/how-to-stop-police-torture-1.428641 |
@ poster those 3 african women are SA president Jacob Zuma's wives. From left to right: Thobeka Mabhija-Zuma, Nompumelelo Ntuli-Zuma and eldest wife Sizakele Khumalo-Zuma. As someone said, its possible they are praying ![]() |
@ idupaul "mr beeld" is a newspaper ![]() |
paddy lo why am i on nairaland?? i do like hearing what non SA people think about issues, but i frequently get taken aback about how hostile some nairalanders are, and how some want to force their opiinions down others throats. nairaland is addictive by the way, so i do return even if i had sworn not to do so. do u want non-nigerians to take a hike? ![]() |
Point is majority of people immigrate to other countries when they feel that life will be better elsewhere, they could be immigrating because civil wars, persecution, economic reasons etc. Example would be the Jews and the europeans that left europe during and after the world wars. Nigerians are hustling in other countries because they've actually given up on nigeria, they dont believe that they will get the best education and financial opportunities in nigeria, hence those that could/can studied overseas and settle there. The corruption, the electicity shortage, the healthcare status (and other factors u would know better than me paddy lo) in nigeria, drive people to look elsewhere for a better life; to the point where even the uneducated and criminally inclined would rather take risks and end up in China, Afghanistan, languishing in prisons all over the world world; the educated washing dishes and driving cabs in America. (i know many will refuse to admit to this, so i am not waiting for any of you to concur) apartheid is still there, BUT not all of us are afraid of whites as much as some nigerians insist, (maybe a portion of people working on the farms is still afraid). I know the whites are still in charge of the economy, but blacks are making strides in that department. We have not given up on SA yet, we still believe we can get what we want here, thats why many blacks are still in SA. Blacks from SA do study and work overseas, but they always return home because they have not given up. should the time come and we do give up we will also queue desperately at embassies and do anything to get the hell out. Those already working in europe will marry europeans to get citizenship, we will cross borders illegally like the Zimbabweans are doing (fyi i am not xenophobic), who knows nairalanders may even live to see a mass immigration of black south africans to nigeria , like i said we might do whatever the heck it takes to get out. ![]() On a last note, is it necessary to throw insults?? |
@ tosh acer I think u only saw what u wanted to see. So u havent been to the banks, and seen blacks as consultants? Gone to hospitals and seen many that are doctors, what about the many that are accountants, engineers, lawyers, marketing profesionals Your motive in starting this thread is to gather like-minded nairalanders who are just itching for an opportunity to bash black south africa, so stop pretending to care; trust me black SA does not need your pity. like someone said, help nigeria first. |
hi all caster semenya is a woman, unfortunately for her she inherited dad's features. one of those youtube videos features her father (if u look at his face u will see the resemblence, although u cant understand what he's saying as he is speaking in Sepedi (a SA language). The man is actually saying my daughter loooks like me, she was born and raised a girl, and we therefore feel quite insulted). About her masculinity, many athletes are masculine so her physique shouldnt be a surprise to anyone (eg marianne jones, maria mutola and many others). h+as maria mutola ever been accused of looking like a man ![]() |
South Africa is very third worldish. @ blackspade, SA is a 3rd world country, surely u know that right?? |
hi all i havent gotten to see district 9, so cant comment yet. I think some nairalanders exaggerate the so called south african hate of nigerians, its actually not as bad as u think it is. many SAs like me interact and live with nigerians, i've even worked with some nigerian doctors at Baragwanath hospital without issues (just normal human relations). Nollywood actually has a big support base among black SAs, my opinion is that black SAs buy more naija films than homemade ones (my cousins surely do). Not every south african is xenophobic, and many south africans dont feel threatened by nigerians. I know i may get insulted and ridiculed for participating on thid forum (if i do get insulted, go ahead whatever makes u sleep better at night). smokie, u might be interested to know that Izulu lami (my secret sky) is a south african film featuring child actors from kwazulu natal. the main actress in the film has just won a best acress award at the african film festival in spain. the film is brilliant people (and no, it does not ridicule nigerians; if anything it touches on the child rape problem that is a pandemic in SA). www.guardian.co.uk/world/filmblog/2009/jul/21/south-african-premiere-film Africa has a lot of stories to tell to the world, we would do better if we werent always trying to pull each other down |

@ aloy.emeka The beautiful ones are not yet born- wasnt it written by Ayi Kwei Armah?? |
no no no Londoner u are missing my point. I said the Afrikaans people say the land is as theirs as it is ours (black africans); they therefore belong here too (to the soil that i keep referring too). Belonging to the same soil does not automatically mean that afrikaans people love black people, if anything they were prepared to suppress and kill for that land. I agree with u, charlize does not have the Dna that black people have, she's therefore not an african of the blood but the soil (by virtue of being born on the continent). I happen to know for a fact that the afrikaners (perhaps i should say some) refer to SA as the fatherland (fatherland as in their forefathers built the infrastructure and the economy of the land, not because they have brotherly love for the blacks they found there), please dont argue with me on this one s. |
londoner, I said AFRICAN OF THE SOIL, NOT THE BLOOD !!!!!(Dna is blood isnt it??) |
@ yoruba Dude its amazing how easily u got swayed there. a few posts back u were supporting SA hosting the cup, now all of a sudden u shaking in your boots thinking of the crime?? The cup is unlikely to go without a few negative incidents, but we will do an overall good job like we did with the confed, Sindia premier cricket tournament and many other international events. |
Somebody on nairaland (I cannot for the life of me remember who) once posted a thread that sought to classify africans as africans of the soil or africans of the blood. Here are a few examples: AAs are africans of the blood but not of the soil (not born on the continent); blacks born on the continent would be called africans of the blood and the soil; egyptians and whites (and other non blacks) born in africa would be africans of the soil but not of the blood. If this classification is anything to go by, Charlize is an african of the soil but not of the blood. As a south african i can also tell u that the afrikaans people in SA say that this land (soil/ country of SA) is their fatherland too (it belongs to them as much as it belongs to us blacks), hence the name afrikaans |
"Whats with the stupid dances and songs in bollywood films? Sometimes wen i'm getting to enjoying an indian film, the actors and actresses just launch into a dancing and singing fit." i thought i was the only one who finds the bollywood singing and dancing silly. |
@ poster many other people all over the world died on that day (and every other day for that matter). |
@ biolabee jhb is unsafe for nigerians hustling in hillbrow but as a tourist u can book hotel in decent parts of town (randburg, eastgate etc). of course u still have to guard your belongings as petty criminals are everywhere, i hope u do come for the world cup. Hadexman is right, many nigerians do live pretty well in SA, and not every south african is xenophobic. ![]() |
goodguy no need to get defensive, i am not attacking you, just wanted to know what u do for a living. (i do know about the SA crime and AIDS) |
@ goodguy1S00 what exactly do u do for a living? u make me think u hang out with the wrong crowd (or are u the wrong crowd? ) |

yes chaps u were right, the hookers robbed the pharaohs. @ deb: i did not come on the site to insult nigeria; if anything i find SA under attack on many threads. |
we've been blowing the vuvuzela for years now, we'll still be blowing long after the confed and 2010 ![]() @ RSA le Malaika: bagaetsho le kgona jang batho bSSa? @ Kx: i thought we were talking confed, what does Lucky Dube have to do with this?? ever heard of fair play?? |
