PrettyCrystal: A Nigerian enterprenuer has revealed the shocking story of a 15-year-old girl who is five months pregnant. According to the Programme Director at Kindle Africa Empowerment Initiative, Olorunfunmi Adebajo, the girl revealed that her lover is a barber who left his first wife and reportedly takes care of her as her father is dead and her mother, a cleaner.
The girl also reportedly said that her mother who beat her for getting pregnant - has told her already that she will live with the man when she gives birth.
Read what Olorunfunmi Adebajo shared online.
Her lemon sized breasts peeked through the threadbare tshirt she wore and both of us tried to hide the tears as she spoke. We both succeeded.
"I don't know his age but he is big like you. He has TRAVELLED OUT to SANGO OTA to get a job. He is is a barber. He will come back for me in three weeks. He left his first wife."
"He takes care of me. I have eaten. I drank Garri. My father is dead and my mum is a cleaner. I finished primary school last year. I can write but I cannot pronounce. My mummy beat me when she knew about the pregnancy. She said I will live with him when I put to bed"
"Do you want to marry him, does he like you?" The silence was deafening.
Eventually, She nods.

HeWrites: https://www.torimill.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/torimill_Bjbgq-jBWIG.jpg Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ogun State, has been thrown into a mourning mood as a result of the death of a final year student, Olatundun Alexander Borokinni, who lost her life during childbirth.
The deceased, who was an HND 2 student of the Department of Computer Science, was said to have gone into labor on Monday afternoon, at one of the hospitals in Abeokuta.
It was gathered that late Borokinni was delivered of a set of twins at Korede hospital, before complication arose and was later referred to Federal Medical Centre, FMC Idi-aba, Abeokuta.
According to an eyewitness, Bankole Damola, a student from Civil Engineering Department, "I went to do a medical checkup and have some test at the hospital yesterday, but I was fortunate to witness the scene.
The vehicle that was meant to take Borokinni to FMC for emergency treatment, broke down midway and she gave up the ghost before they got to the Federal Medical Centre.
Perhaps she might have survived because someone also tried to help with his car after the other vehicle broke down, but he couldn’t meet up."

UNIZIK1stSon: @myNAIJAinfo.com
South-South Governors have formally demanded 13percent derivation from the Federal Government on the $1billion to be withdrawn from the Excess Crude Account to fund National Security Matters.
In attendance at the meeting were: Bayelsa State Governor, Rt Hon Seriake Dickson, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel and Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rt Hon Philip Shaibu.
Briefing journalists after the meeting of the South-South Governors Forum at the Government House Port Harcourt on Wednesday, Chairman of the Forum and Bayelsa State Governor, Rt Hon Seriake Dickson stated that the governors resolved to officially communicate to the appropriate authorities for the constitutional provision of 13 percent derivation to be applied and respected.
Seriake said: "We took the collective view that with respect to the Federal Government's effort to withdraw $1billion for national security, our position in this zone is in line with the constitutional provision on derivation.
"While we have no objection to the Federal Government spending money on security, including security of this zone, we believe the constitutional provision on 13percent derivation be applied and fully respected.
"We will communicate that to the appropriate authorities so that whatever amount that is withdrawn from the Excess Crude Account, being proceed of crude oil sale is subject to the 13 percent principle enshrined in the constitution. "
The South-South Governors Forum also called for the withdrawal of the Executive Bill forwarded to the National Assembly, wherein the Federal Government seeks to control the management of waterways.
The South-South Governors declared: "We also agreed that the bill currently making rounds in the National Assembly which we understand is an Executive Bill on management of water resources. We are of the view that the provisions of the bill are offensive and obnoxious.
"We disagree with the centralized control of water resources as we are already dealing with the problem associated with over centralization of our country and we have agreed that the bill should be immediately withdrawn by the Federal Government and further consultations be made on that."
The South-South Governors further declared their support for restructuring of the country and the devolution of powers to the states.
The governors stated: "Everyone is aware of the ongoing clamour for devolution and a return to essential founding principle of this great country. And we in our meeting resolved as we have been speaking over sometime that we associate fully with the clamour for restructuring, for the clamour for true federalism and for the clamour for devolution of powers that are so concentrated at the centre to the federating units and we have agreed to support ongoing moves in that direction by working with like-minded Nigerians who mean well for the country so that we can all have a stable and prosperous and peaceful nation."

Politics › Re: MORE FROM BBC AFRICA: biafra shutdown cripples Nigerian cities by nabegibeg: 8:54am On May 31, 2018 |
frankdoz22: A stay-at-home protest by Biafran separatists in Nigeria has crippled cities and towns in the south-east. Streets are empty and markets, banks and schools are closed to mark the abortive attempt in 1967 to gain independence for the region. It led to a bitter three-year civil war in which more than one million people were killed. The authorities have warned the secessionists against street protests and security forces are on patrol.
South-eastern Nigeria is mainly inhabited by the ethnic Igbo community, who often complain of marginalisation - accusing successive governments of failing to develop their areas.
In the last few years, there have been a resurgence of support for a breakaway state of Biafra led by the banned group Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob) and the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (Massob). The BBC Igbo service says there has been a total shutdown in the Igbo heartland of Enugu and Anambra states.
This timber market in the oil hub of Port Harcourt was among the many businesses that observed the stay-away call The southern oil city of Port Harcourt as well as parts of Abia state have also been affected by the stay-away.
People have been sending in photos to BBC Igbo of deserted streets, including one of the iconic Niger River Bridge in Onitsha, known as the gateway to the east, which is usually congested with traffic.
Ipob leader Nnamdi Kanu is currently facing treason-related charges. He has not been seen in public since last September when his house was raided by the Nigerian military. The army denies arresting him and his whereabouts are unknown.www-bbc-co-uk.0.freebasics.com/news/world-africa-44304368?iorg_service_id_internal=1646953538912597">https://https-www-bbc-co-uk.0.freebasics.com/news/world-africa-44304368?iorg_service_id_internal=1646953538912597%3BAfqDOIsUOlQlswAF https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-44304368# used this website https://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-44304368# |

She, however, denied committing the offence; while the judge, Justice Vera Venda, ordered that she be remanded in Suleja Prisons, and adjourned the case until June 13 for the hearing of her bail application.
Ofuegbu was faces charges bordering on cheating, criminal misappropriation and obtaining money by false pretext.
The prosecutor, Mrs. Hadiza Esai, had told the court that the defendant allegedly sold the house situated at Dawaki area of the FCT for N25m.
She said that the alleged offences contravened sections 320 and 308 of the Penal Code.
Her lawyer, Mr. Chijioke Osuagwu, applied for her bail and argued that his client remains innocent until proved otherwise.
“The motion is brought pursuant to sections 6(6), 35 and 36(5) and (6b) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Our motion for bail is also backed by sections 158, 162, 165 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015.
“Our prayers are contained in the motion paper; this motion is supported by four-paragraph affidavit and we rely on all the paragraphs, especially paragraph three,” he said.
Osuagwu urged the court to exercise its discretion in granting the bail in favour of the applicant and drew the court’s attention to the deteriorating health of his client.
The prosecutor did not oppose the bail application, but said that a plea bargain discussion was already ongoing with the defendant.

Politics › Re: Herdsmen Killings: Benue Fires Back At Sultan Over Jihad Statement by nabegibeg: 8:25am On May 31, 2018 |
7Ebisco: Benue State Government has reacted to the recent comment by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar lll-led Jama’atu Nasril that the herdsmen killings across Benue, Taraba and other parts of the North, were not continuation of the late Usman Danfodio’s jihad.
The Sultan, who doubles as President General of the JNI with its headquarters in Kaduna, warned against taking Nigerian Muslims for granted by denigrating the Islamic community.
Reacting, however, the state government in a statement by Tever Akase, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Samuel Ortom, insisted that JNI should rather blame Miyetti Allah over the alleged Jihad statement.
His statement below:
Another instance where the same group declared jihad on the country can be obtained in the following link: .
Governor Ortom who referred to such statements including the ones quoted above from the Fulani Nationality Movement, reiterated his call for the arrest of the leadership of the groups to prevent further killings in the state.
Governor Ortom used the programme to draw the attention of security agencies to the inflammatory statements made by the said groups vowing to wage a jihad and mobilize their members to invade Benue and resist implementation of the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law passed by the state.
The Benue State Governor has enormous respect for the leadership of Jama’atul Nasir Islam and all other Nigerian Muslims and would not have launched an attack on the religion. We reject and condemn this negative branding of the Governor by JNI.
Since assumption of office, Governor Ortom has embraced and encouraged all religious groups in the state especially the Muslim community as evident in the cordial relationship between the present administration and leadership of the Islamic faith. It is therefore strange that the headquarters of Jama’atul Nasir Islam has chosen to assault the Governor’s reputation on a matter which has verifiable evidence unconnected with him.
Governor Ortom has demonstrated statesmanship and focus in handling the secuirty challenge in the state and he appreciates the contributions of all stakeholders particularly religious leaders both Christian and Muslim towards the return of peace to the affected parts of Benue State.

Education › Re: How To Write A Personal Statement Or Statement Of Purpose by nabegibeg: 7:16pm On May 30, 2018 |
JARUSHUB: Uchechi Moses
With the increase in Nigerians desiring to study abroad at various institutions at either undergraduate or postgraduate programs. The vast majority of countries Nigerians desire to go are: the United States of America, United Kingdom, Germany, China, Canada, South Africa, Netherlands, Norway, India, Russia, China, South Korea, Israel etc. Some of these scholarships involved in postgraduate studies include: PTDF scholarships, Shell Postgraduate Scholarships, NLNG postgraduate scholarships, AGIP postgraduate scholarships, Commonwealth scholarships, MEXT Japan, Chevening scholarships, Erasmus etc. There are numerous to mention. Certain requirements are expected of them, some of which are: travel documents, transcripts, standardised tests’ results (GRE, LSAT, SAT, GMAT, IELTS, TOEFL, EJU), certificates, letters of recommendation, etc. What is missing there? Personal statement.
A personal statement is not “usually” part of what constitutes an aspiring student’s materials when travelling to the university of his/her choice. However, it is an important aspect in universities’ admission. As the name connotes, it is personal. This implies that every personal statement is unique to an individual and no two or more personal statements are the same. It is about you. Unlike a CV which is majorly about your professional/career history; personal statements encompasses everything about one’s life: your activities, why you desire to study the course, why the university, personal goals, failures, achievements, ambitions etc. It is an opportunity for the institution to know more about you beyond your professional life. So, the question is: How does one write a personal statement?
OPENING STATEMENT
Unsurprisingly, this is the hardest part when writing a statement. Most individuals tend to overdo this aspect thereby making admission officers to throw their application in the bin. There is really no point creating an over-kill statement thereby making your introduction verbose.
Additionally, no point using cliché words or quotes by prominent individuals. Admission officers want to see your thoughts not others. It is you not them that aspire to study the course and discipline. Your interest in the course and university should be of utmost importance. Commence with why you chose it; what excites you about the course and why you want to learn more about it. This is the opportunity to display your desire to studying the course and school.
WHY DO YOU WANT TO STUDY THE COURSE?
You are expected to elucidate reasons for studying the course/discipline you chose. Admission officers want to read the desire and enthusiasm you have for the course. This is by narrating several events in a logical and sequential manner in a way to attract the mind of the officer(s). Your work experiences, volunteering activities, projects etc. You have to marry these together in a coherent manner.
It can be very tempting to overemphasise a point, but do note that, this is graduate school. Admissions officers expect you to sound like one – a graduate. Don’t risk trying to crack a joke, as the admissions officer may not share your sense of humour – different cultures and belief system. Avoid personal clichés and leave out the unnecessary celebrity quotes.
Additionally, relate your hobbies, skill-set, extra-curricular activities and interests to display suitability for the course program. Conclude this by elucidating why the university will be the best place to undergo your studies. This is by listing core resources, staff members, facilities, research output from the department etc. Think about the question: Why are you good for this course?
There are DO’s and Don’ts in writing a personal statement/statement of purpose/essay.
DO:
- Use everyday language: It’s unique to you and your person than to express yourself in grandiose vocabularies which will most of the time take you to the thesaurus/dictionary every few minutes. Your statement of purpose/essay or personal statement should reflect your personality – the real you.
- Have some rules when writing: An example is the “so what if”. This mostly comes up especially if you are not sure of the information. Spell check you write-up: Are you applying to an institution using British English or American? S go through the article again, even if the next day.
- Read aloud: If necessary, print your document and read aloud your statement to locate possible errors that could not be spotted on the screen. You might also give to someone you know has a better grasp of the language than you.
- Brevity: Be concise and make your write-up lucid. Make it easier for the reader and anyone to be able to understand what you are saying from a first sight.
- Integrity: Be honest and reflective where appropriate. What is it about this course or university that you are applying for that will help you grow, and develop? This is the only chance, before an interview for an institution or potential employer to get some context about you – it’s important to not just show off (positively) but to show how they can help you.
- Specific: Be specific and use statistics that demonstrate your work/achievements to date. Generic statements, vague claims and bland examples will not make you stand out. - Volunteering Activities: Mention all of your voluntary work. It shows your commitment, passion and the skills you have developed.
DO NOT:
- Lie: Plagiarise, exaggerate or lie. Be truthful and say the things about you.
- Humdrum: Overuse buzzwords like ‘passion, dedicated, motivated, effective’ etc. or make sweeping statements like ‘I am a highly motivated …’; let the examples do the talking; remember your statement comes in partnership with your CV and ‘motivation’ is easy to demonstrate without explicitly stating it a 1000 time.
- Hackneyed: Use a hackneyed statement, such as ‘I am a people person’.
- Irrelevant: Include irrelevant personal facts like your date of birth (you can put these in your CV if you wish to include them). Of course, if you are specifically asked to provide these details, then do so.
- Celebrity Quotes: Include quotes from other people in place of your own thoughts (especially famous quotes), unless there is a very good reason. On the other hand, quotes from referees may be fine – just don’t bombard the reader with such.
- Enumerate: ‘List’ your interests. Instead, demonstrate them, such as ‘I volunteer for a domestic violence helpline’ rather than ‘I am interested in domestic violence issues’.
- Boredom: Bore the reader. If you get bored when you re-read your statement yourself, then you need to revise it and make it more interesting.
Finally, you need to own it and believe in it. So, having taken account of all the advice, write it the way that you want to – and in such a way that it sounds like and reads like the ‘real’ you. These should be properly fitted into your introduction, body and conclusion.
