PrettyCrystal: Operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS), Abeokuta in Ogun State, on Thursday, May 31, 2018, recorded a triumphant victory over a gang of cross-border bandits after a gun battle. During the fire fight, a member of the syndicate was killed by the police bullet while others scampered for safety in different directions.
It was gathered that a team of FSARS operatives, attached to Sango-Otta area and led by Supol Bawa Sanni, had received an order from their boss, DSP Uba Adams, as directed by the state Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, to track down the bandits who had earlier snatched a Lexus 350 Jeep at Oke-Ilewo in Abeokuta, the state capital.
The hoodlums were ostensibly heading towards neighboring Benin Republic when they ran into a brick wall in the FSARS operatives on Sango-Idiroko Road.
Apparently bent on escaping with the vehicle, they opened fire on the policemen, but were subdued by the retaliatory and gallantry efforts of the officers.
The fatally injured member of the gang was taken to the State Hospital Ijaye, Abeokuta where he finally gave up the ghost. His corpse was consequently deposited at the hospital's mogue.
The snatched jeep and an AK 47 rifle, as well as 13 live ammunition were recovered from the robbers.
"Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, who expressed his satisfaction about the performance of his men, has ordered a serious manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang. The CP also assured residents of the state to always alert the police on time whenever any crime is being committed in their area to enable the police respond as quickly as possible".

He has played across various clubs in Portugal in Portugal, last season he got a very lucrative offer from Haiti for a season and according to him he can't afford not to accept it, he eventually signed and played a season in Haiti before returning to Portugal in January 2018.
Below is the short interview I had with him while I was in Portugal.
We.. Good afternoon Mr Larry
Larry.. good afternoon, nice having you here
We.. smiled, how did your football career started?
Larry.. well it wasn't an easy journey but we thank God for where he has taken us to so far
We.. how did it started? Tell us about your full name, where you're from in Nigeria and family background
Larry.. My names are Larry Omere Peters, from Benue state but was born in Lagos. I am 23 years old from a family of 10, 4girls and 6boys and lost our first and second born whom happens to be girls, although I never saw the second born because she died first and I wasn't born then.
I also lost my mother in the year 2011 due to breast cancer, lack of funds and late detection contributed to her dealth, this are what expired me to leave school and focus solely on football which was and still my passion and I wanted to make a living through it and be able to care for my family's needs, that's how it all started footballing wise and about my family background
We.. that's very emotional, how do you manage to be able to still scale through despite all the difficulties you went through
Larry.. it's all about determination, when you've set your mind to do something you have passion for and you're determined and also have enthusiasm you'll surely scale through also with a lot of prayers
We.. can you tell us how you moved to Portugal from Nigeria?
Larry.. smiled. It was just God's work. I was playing a competition called ( golden chance Lotto competition ) we got to the quarter final and played a club (sportom sporting club) I managed to score two goals and an assist against that team, after the final whistle the TM of the called me and invited me to train with his team, which I accepted, I trained with his team for a week, and he told me he'll send me a Nigerian league club 3sc of ibadan for a trial, when I got there I trained with the team, luckily for me there was some secret scout there who came to watch a player of 3sc but eventually decided to scout me, after my first training there, they came to me and introduced themselves as a scout from portugal, on hearing a scout from portugal I was so eager to hear what they have to say, they invited me for another trial in another club, I went and it was successful, between three months I moved to Portugal and signed a contract with Uniao de coimbra, that's how it all happened.
We.. what a journey that was, would you consider yourself lucky on how everything went smoothly?
Larry.. off cause I considered myself lucky because firstly the scout wasn't there to scout me but by the grace and will of God, he placed me at the right place at the right time, so I will say it's God's grace that went along with me, despite being 17/18 then I've been through a lot football wise, done a lot if training traveled to different states across Nigeria for trials which was unsuccessful. My parents will send me to school unknowing to them I have my football kits in my bag, when I get a corner I will change my clothes and go direct to a football field instead of school but I didn't regret leaving school for football, I will eventually return to school and finish my education, Nigeria is not a country where you can combine football with education it won't work unless you leave one for one and continue the other later
We.. what are your dreams in terms of your career?
Larry.. I still have a lot to achieve in my career, am still young at 23 years old. I want to one day play for the super eagles of Nigeria this is my ultimate dream in terms of football and when it comes to clubs, I'd go anywhere I have good offers and playing time because before I went to some clubs where I wasn't getting playing time and it contributed negatively in my career I was a Chelsea fan growing up I still support them tho *laugh*
We.. what do you think about the current set of players in the National team?
Larry.. ATM we have got talented players in the team, their success so far will speak for them, individually they're doing well in their various clubs and the coach has managed to bring this group of players together and make use of their strength in the right way, we can tell there's no player has technical as Jay Jay and kanu in that team today but the coaches didn't relent instead they're making use of the strength of the players and playing a style that suits the kind of players they currently have
We.. what do you think would be the outcome for Nigeria at this coming world cup?
Larry.. well I wouldn't want to exaggerate but I see the team getting at least to the quarter finals (He joked) maybe if I was selected for the WC we could left the trophy
We.. maybe just maybe?
Larry.. hahaha just maybe, but I believe in my ability, technical skills and abilities to finish (score) with my both feet and head. If am playing you hardly know which feet I use naturally because am good with both
We.. we hope to see you at the next world cup or CAF nations cup
Larry.. by the grace of God I will continue working hard and hope to be selected for future call ups either for the CAF tournament or world cup
We.. thanks for creating time for us to conduct this interview
Larry.. the pleasure is mine.
We.. hope to have another interview with you soon
Larry.. my doors are always open
We.. thanks.
Larry.. you're welcome

The number of vessels calling at Calabar Port has increased by 40 per cent since the end of the first quarter of this year.
The Port Manager, Calabar Port, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Olotu, disclosed this to our correspondent on the sidelines of a quarterly stakeholders’ forum organised by the Nigerian Ports Authority on Thursday.
She said, “The liquid bulk has increased due to the fact that for now, Calabar becomes the only outlet to make distribution to other locations that are connected to this axis. Ours is the only port that opens to the North East of Nigeria; so they are using Calabar as a base to distribute petroleum products.”
According to her, consultations with port management and investors had resulted in the exportation of 54,530 metric tonnes of cement from the Calabar Port to the Port of Tema in Ghana by Lafarge Africa in the fourth quarter of 2017.
She added that the voyages had been consistent, with an estimated 100,000 tonnes of cement expected to be exported from the Calabar Port every quarter.
She said, “We have been able to address the challenges. We are working on the harbour craft, the channels, port access roads and security.
She reveals how her nude picture attracted Mr Eazi, Davido, Kissdaniel, others to her DM, as she apologizes over the leakage.

evanso6226: Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that he will not be re-contesting the national chairmanship position in the forthcoming National Convention slated for June 23, in the party´s interest.
He stated this on Friday night in Abuja while speaking with newsmen, adding that his decision was taken after wide consultation with close political associates and family members and not because of intimidation.
However, he said that the tenure extension that was hitherto agreed by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) suffered a set-back following President Muhammadu Buhari´s opposition.
According to him, the tenure extension would have helped to stabilise the party in the face of some of its challenges and may have prevented the crisis that followed its recent congresses in some states of the federation.
He said that some of the party leaders ought to have considered the tenure extension to be in the best interest of the party.
This, he said, would have ensured that the party go into the 2019 elections as a united fighting force, rather than one that was potentially weakened by internal conflicts arising from competitive congresses and convention.
Odigie Oyegun urged party leaders to close ranks and to make the party a strong fighting force ahead of the 2019 general elections.
´´Now that the Convention Committee has invited interested aspirants to obtain forms to contest various national positions in our party, it has become necessary for me to state my position.
´´I have consulted widely with my family, friends and associates, even though, I had the desire to re-contest as the national chairman of the party.
´´I have decided that it is ultimately in the best interest of the party for me to withdraw from the race, ´´ he said.
“I believe that the party faces difficult days ahead, and all critical stakeholders in its leadership would be required to bind together for a common purpose´´.
He advised that a less-contentious convention would be better for the party adding that he had always sought to be part of solving the party´s problems.
´´I do not intend to be part of the problem for APC to solve. It is for this reason that I hereby declare that I will not be seeking re-election as the national chairman.
´´However, I will continue to perform my functions as the national chairman of the party, till my tenure officially ends on Monday, June 25 when a new set of party executives will be inaugurated,´´ Odigie-Oyegun said.

Japan kills it with their Blue Samurai look, while their away jersey has some gray tones on the shoulder that give it a crisp look without being too busy.
Sweden’s color combinations of yellow and blue mean they really don’t have to do much to make a great jersey. Their home jersey is more traditional, but their away jersey really turns heads.
Belgium will be a favorite at this year’s World Cup, and they’re going to look real sweet on the field. Their home jersey takes them back to 1984, while their away yellow is a welcome change to the many teams who will be sporting white. Yellow gives them an extra pop, and a simple pinstripe hoop design makes their look official.
When the entire nation of Iceland descends on Russia, they are going to do so with one of their best ever looks. The home blue jersey is awesome with the white shoulder blades and red pattern on the sleeves. The mirror image away jersey in red will give them a change look that you can’t turn away from.
One of the best jerseys in the world, Peru has not been to the World Cup since 1982. Because of that, they employ a traditional design for their home and away that still kills. The gold trim really adds a punch to an already awesome jersey set.
Speaking at Greater Nigeria Pastors’ Conference in Osun on Friday, Osinbajo said Nigerians should stop reading religious and ethnic meanings to the killings.
He explained that those killing innocent citizens were not discriminatory in their approach.
“We must not allow the narratives being said about it (killings) to survive. We have to handle it carefully, we may put the country in a civil war if care is not taken,” the vice-president said.
He said there is a need to address the killings with a broader approach.
“I agree fully as far as security issues go that we should have a broader approach. There is no reason why there should not be a review. The president had said he would address it,” he said.
“Deeper Life Bible Church was attacked in the North in 2014 and 17 people were killed. Whatever is happening, we must take a broader look at it. As pastors, when mosques are attacked, we must also speak up. It is good that we also speak up against this as well.
“Our country can only be governed by the wisdom of God. We must deal with all issues with great care. In River Benue, virtually all the cattle want to go in there for water. In Taraba, the killer herdsmen and farmers they attacked are Muslims. It is not entirely fair to say that they are targeting Christians.
“Any herder found with weapon must be arrested. In the last few months, we have sent special forces to Benue and and Taraba. There is great determination to end the killings and hold accountable anybody arrested.”

Our Super Eagles Jersey is being sold in the USA and Europe for the equivalent of N31,000 ($80 to $85), but in Nigeria they’re selling the jerseys for N40,000 ($110) and yet they ensured they didn’t supply more than a few thousand units. WHY?!!
There’s definitely some fishy racket going on with The NFF regarding the matter of the Super Eagles jerseys. That’s why Adidas terminated our last deal, and Nigeria had to go begging sportswear companies round the world till Nike took pity on us.
It’s a big shame that there’s nowhere we haven’t taken corruption to. See how millions of fake jerseys have flooded the entire country and nobody is doing a thing.
Either the NFF executives are the ones running this racket, or they’re benefitting from it somehow. I will definitely petition the EFCC on this.
The biggest question we should ask ourselves is how come those who have been importing and selling millions of fake Super Eagles jerseys for months now have still not sold out.
queensera: Malaysia's new Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said Wednesday the government will set up a trust fund to let the public contribute to easing the country's huge national debt.
Mahathir's government last week revealed that the national debt and liabilities exceed $250.6 billion or 80% of Malaysia's gross domestic product, after taking into account government guarantees and other payments.
It has blamed economic mismanagement and corruption under former scandal-tainted leader Najib Razak and the long-ruling coalition that was ousted by a surprise defeat in a May 9 national election.
"There are many Malaysians who were willing to donate to the government when they found out how bad our country's financial situation is. We welcome their patriotic stand," Mahathir said Wednesday.
The finance ministry said in a statement that the "Malaysia Hope Fund" will provide a systematic and transparent platform to manage all public donations.

ogbiwa: Nigeria may not be favourites for the World Cup, but they seem to have won fans over with their new kit for Russia.
Three million people pre-ordered replica shirts, according to the Nigeria Football Federation, and shoppers queued outside Nike's flagship store in London on Friday to try to get their hands on the clothing. The home and away shirts, priced at £64.95, were sold out on the sportswear giant's website soon after they were released.
Arsenal's Alex Iwobi is among the players who modelled the kit, which was first revealed back in February, along with Leicester's Wilfried Ndidi, who wore a branded bucket hat and jacket for the promotional photos.
The makers describe the home kit as a "subtle homage to Nigeria's '94 shirt, with its eagle wing-inspired black-and-white sleeve and green torso". The away kit, meanwhile, is a "cool, refined vision" of a classic full-green strip.
Nigeria are set to wear their new shirt when they face England in their World Cup warm-up game at Wembley on Saturday (17:15 BST).

goldcoinhub: Journalist, Azuka Jebrose seems to have taken so much interest in the case of Mrs Olamide Bose Akinbobola, the teacher who stabbed her husband to death in Ikorodu.
He has given updates on the situation and neighbours around the couple's abode have testified to how the woman was always battered by her late husband.
According to Jebrose, his close associates went to the compound of the woman today and what they gathered is quite appalling.
According to Azuka, the neighbors told stories of how the deceased was a lazy man who never wanted to work.
The wife gave birth to their last child two months ago and was forced to bear the financial burden. The teacher had to take up side businesses such as home teaching, hawking of peanuts, braiding of hair and others to feed herself and her family.
Yet, the unemployed husband still comes home to beat her.
Read what Azuka wrote on his Facebook page:
This morning, Mrs. Jennifer Chioma Owolabi, a partner in this quest for Justice for Domestic violence victim, Mrs. Olamide Bose Akinbobola, went to her residence in Ikorodu, seeking her family and additional information. What she found was a tale of misery, a support group of friends unafraid to testify on behalf of this lady that accidentally fatally stabbed her husband midweek.
From the two videos posted herein, watch and listen to their stories as witnesses to how the late husband horribly abused, enslaved and neglected his wife and children.
Their last child was born two months ago, she recently finished paying the hospital bills for the birth of the baby. According to these witnesses which included her employer, Olamide’s husband was lazy, always sleeping, unable to seek employment.
Despite her teacher's job, she also engaged in small businesses such as after-school tutorials for neighborhood children, hawking of roasted peanuts and hair braiding for additional income to sustain the family. In hard moments, she would approach her neighbors to loan her few change to survive the week with her family.
The witnesses demonstrated how and where Olamide had been bruised from beatings and violent assaults by her husband.
“Sometimes we see her with lacerations, swollen bodies, scarred face and black eyes and when we asked her, she would lie to us that she fell and got bruised. But we knew the truth. We saw him severally abused her physically. She ran away while she was pregnant but recently returned to birth her new baby.
She wanted him to be a part of their second child birthing experience, as her husband and father. But he didnt give a damn. She doesn’t deserve this. She is a kind hard working woman that cared for her husband and their children. He brought nothing to support the home. She was always engaged in small business hustles and would surrender whatever profits she made to him as head of household.”
Chioma’s finding included the shock and awe state of the family’s residence. Olamide’s mother was a single mother. She died years ago
Chioma narrates:
“The husband was so abusive that the family of the husband doesn’t want to have anything to do with him. They seem not interested in this matter. My understanding from family and friends in her neighborhood was his family did not want to be part his violence against his wife: according to them, he always beat her. Olamide and her husband and children initially lived with husband’s family but when he would not stop beating her, the family threw them out. I spoke to Olamide’s aunt.
She said she has not visited her at the police station because she is afraid of being arrested. I told her it was wrong not to have gone to check on her or take food to her. She has nobody….She doesn't know her dad; the aunt assumes he lives in Ibadan. What is painful is that this young girl just gave birth two months ago..
The new baby was recently circumcised. Everybody I spoke to confirmed she was being physically and mentally abused by the bastard. You need to see where they live; oh my God”

I don't know whether any of you has been in a situation where an in-law comes for a short visit and finally settles in your home without any sign of leaving anytime soon. My wife's elder sister who is single came to visit us in January but up till now she has not made any move to go and it's not as if we live in a big apartment so there is no much privacy. We got married in 2015 so our union is still young. This kind of situation puts one in a dilemma because you just don't know what to say and you will be termed "a bad person". She lies on our matrimonial bed even in my presence. Before now i never knew someone would feel comfortable staying with a younger sister in her matrimonial home. If it is as a result of accommodation problem or maybe you went to a distant location to do one or two things and you now spend sometime in your younger sister's home, that is understandable.
magazineguy: Nigerians are known to be pioneers of words, sayings and slangs. Not liable to be used in the wrong quarters, they are often used to shorten conversations and suitable among cliques and peers, alike. The origin of most of these argots can be traced to lines, verses or hooks of hit songs. Truly, we have heard some that their meanings have not been deciphered or they might never get to see daylight in couple of years. The growth and the pace of the Industry determines the longevity of some of these slangs. Often, the emergence of new artistes and talents has tendencies to influence the popularity of these slangs. Based on popularity, some of these slangs are:
Maga
This one in particular, cannot be traced to the music backgrounds but often times, we have heard it in countless records. It’s a common Nigerian slang that is mostly used by musicians to mean ‘to extort’, especially money. Artistes like Davido, Psquare and Timaya have used this in past songs.
Mugu
Asides, the synonymity with Maga, it has a different conceptual information and deeper meaning. Although, it could be offensive to some folks but what’s the fun in using slangs if it throws you off your seat? Mugu means ‘fool’ or ‘of a dumb person’. Love songs written or sang in pidgin contain this slang. Listen to Wizkid and Psquare songs from 2010.
Jonse/Jonze
Nigerians use this frequently. It means ‘to fail’ or ‘hit a stumbling block’ in pursuit of an endeavour. It is really funny when used in the right moment, especially in the midst of cliques. It originated from ‘Jonzing world’, a song by Mavin artiste, D’Prince which featured Wizkid and Jesse Jagz. Ever since, the coined version ‘jonze/jonse’ has been in use.
Legbegbe
‘Legbegbe’ was one of the songs that ushered us into the shaku-shaku rub era. Though, it was inspired from Seun Egbegbe’s iphone theft case of 2017, the record ended up as one of the greatest records ever from Nigeria. Legbegbe (Egbe egbe) is a yoruba word that means ‘side by side’. Legbegbe is a street banger by Mr. Real and it featured Idowest, Obadice and Kelvin Chuks. On the hook, Real self goes ‘Oya e fun won Legbegbe, iphone 1, iphone 2……’ .
Shepeteri
Another word that got birthed from the Shaku shaku era was ‘Shepeteri’ (from record ‘Omo shepeteri’). Omo shepteri means ‘a bad child’, especially when deviation from morals/moral decadence is involved. Omo Shepeteri belongs to Idowest and Slimcase.
Science student
Science students got attention from the W.H.O, Nigerian Government and even the broadcasting body, National Broadcasting Commission (NBC). Olamide did not enjoy those few weeks of pressure and blames lashed on him (Blame it on the way he delivers his songs, all for the sake of creativity). ‘Science student’ is associated with illegal drugs – cannabis, raphenol, codeine, falcka e.t.c .
Owu
Owu has different origins, especially the one from a Nigerian Literature book ‘Women of Owu’. Owu has been violated by our artistes and occasionally used in their contents. Burna Boy used in his song ‘Check and balance’; Olamide also used it in his rap song ‘Owo blow’. Owu means ‘state being broke’
Omo Wobe
Olamide, once again is pointed at again for pioneering one of the Nigerian slangs. His influence in the streets is as credible as his hits songs. Omo wobe has a controversial meaning – ‘folks that smoke marijuana’. In his popular tune ‘Bobo’, Olamide could be heard on the intro calling, ‘Eyin Omo wobe(wobe), won gbo informaion……’. He even made the sishing smoking sounds.
Osha pra pra
A large chunk of the credit might have gotten to Yovi but we should not leave out the other artistes that infused ‘osha pra pra’ in their songs. ‘Osha pra pra’ means ‘fresh’, ‘clean’ or ‘to look good’. Ask any Lagos folk.
