Here is my transcript

Nabylet:

i started having fever from monday evening, on tuesday evening, it became worse, i was shivering and my temperature was high, everybody said it was VISA fever. i slept from 10pm to 2pm, although i set my alarm for 4am, i couldn’t sleep till then. i started listening to music in my phone and waited till 4am. by 4am, i went to have my bath and did my make up, left the house 5:10, by 5:25 i was at walter carrington, since i came from lekki axis, i drove in from ozumba and the police men told me there was no parking space that i should park at the entrance of the street and walk to the consulate. i parked and stayed in the car till 6pm going through my prepared transcript and my ds-160 form and making sure all my documents were complete, took my holy communication i reserved from church 2sundays ago. by 6am, i decided to walk to the building, after walking for about 5min, i got to Forte Oil, i asked around for the so-called building, people said it was still far, the police man had lied to me and he charged me 1000 naira to park where he was. i felt like crying because the distance was too much, i wore heels and i was already sweating. i decided to use that opportunity to recite my answers. i got to the queue by 6:20, there were over 200 people waiting. by 6:45 we lined up for security check-up, after the whole process, we were inside the hall at about 7:20, at about 7:40, the VOs came in and we lined up to be interviewed. i was the 24th person.
as we lined up, i listened to some convos, and trust me, all was blabbing rubbish. They asked one guy why he choose the school, he said because it's close to home, they asked him where is home, he said Nigeria, kaiiii. there was a guy with afro, he said he works with DealDey, omo the way the guy was scattering the answers to the VO, i told myself, this guy must be a nairalander, i clapped for him quietly when they approved his visa. after listening to a couple of interview, i gathered liver that i was sure of my visa if only i give them my answers with confidence.

it got to my turn, counter 8, a lady with braids;

ME: hello, how are you doing today? (with wide grin)
VO: *big ela* *did not even answer me* *she was even boning* (In my mind, which kyn lady be this that cannot reply to simple greeting, i tried to say the Lords prayer quickly, i forgot the words, i just started singing Israel & New Breed “Jesus at the Centre”)

VO: please pass me your documents
ME: passes it

VO: your four left fingers on the scanner
ME: did it

VO: where are you going to?
ME: the state of IOWA

VO: where exactly
ME: waverly, IOWA

VO: for what?
ME: bachelors degree in nursing science with concentration in paediatric nursing

VO: how did you find out about this school?
ME: i found out about wart burg college when i did extensive research about schools offering nursing using professional websites like American Nurses Association, Paediatricnursing”.’org, all nurses’.’com, best_nursing colleges’.’com, educational websites like us news’.’com, proncetonreview and americanschoolsearch'.'com

VO: whats the course duration?
ME: 48 months

VO: did you apply to other schools?
ME: yes of course.! 5 schools in total

VO: so why did you choose wart burg?
ME: of all schools i applied to, wart burg college came top in terms of best value when tuition, scholarship and academics are compared. not only is it highly ranked by US news and world report for the best comprehensive college in the midwest for academic excellence, it is also one of the few schools in which all students regardless of their major are part of a supportive intellectual and social community that builds foundation for success and i got scholarship (smiling like a mumu)

VO: when did you finish high school?
ME: 2008

VO: what have you been doing since then?
ME: from 2008-2012, i went to ** State Uni, from…. (cuts me short)

VO: ohhh, did you get a degree from the school?
ME: yes i did

VO: what degree?
ME: Bachelors of Science in Education

VO: why did you not do nursing in your undergraduate? (Expected the question)
ME: well… i was about 1*years old(very young then) when i finished high school and getting ready for uni, my undergraduate course was a decision made exclusively by my mother who was a psychology lecturer then in my Uni, she wanted me to follow her foot steps, obviously it dint work out. i do not have any regret though as that was when i got determined on what i really wanted to do.

VO: so why nursing
ME: i work voluntary with the National Emergency and Management Agency, during one of our projects, i was able witness at first hand the problems of lack of knowledge on how to care, protect and improve childrens health in rural communities. i want to have in-depth knowledge on how to focus on the care of children, families and communities so they may attain, maintain or recover optimal health and quality of life.

VO: what will you do with this degree?
ME: this degree will equip me adequately in creating a new view and improving the quality of health by innovating the education, skills and knowledge achieved into the Nigerian health sector. it will be highly appreciated and it will also give me a brighter opportunity to working for and partnering with the Nigerian government like the federal ministry of health, federal teaching hospital and Nigerian educational institutions like University of Lagos, Obafemi Awolowo university ( then i started over gestating like my pastor paul adefarasin like i was preaching to her, i gathered confidence here) infact, these two sectors: the Nigerian Government and the Nigerian Educational institutions are my main focus, where i will target and shoot into when i come back to Nigeria because partnering with this two sectors will together create a stronger and healthier Nigeria. this is my vision for my country. (raising my hand)

VO: who is paying for your trip?
ME:my mother

VO: what does she do?
ME: she is the purchasing manager of xxxx, the biggest mall in Abuja; she is in charge of all the purchases from electronics to stationaries to beddings to toiletries, everything in the mall, she is in charge and she also supplies to government houses and educational institutions (I was stammering and I felt I was saying rubbish here because this is not my mums real profession, she just came to Lagos a few days ago and told me to say all this because that was what she said during her own interview, it kind of threw me off balance as I had already crammed her real profession so I couldn't even remember most of her 'fake' duties she told me to say)

VO: oh, i see you have scholarship how did you get it?
ME: the school reviewed my transcripts, WAEC, i scored very high in sat, they asked for recommendation letters from my high school principal, did Skype interview and i also wrote a personal essay

VO: take this (hands me my i20) you will need it at the POE, pick up your visa on monday here ‘she circles it’
ME: enjoy the rest of the rest of the day *started smiling like a fo0l*

(no document asked)

i started cat walking as if i was on the runway with a wide grin, everybody noticed, the security woman that held my car keys said i should celebrate with her before i take my keys from her, i had already kept 10k in my pocket and said id dash anybody i see when i get my visa approved, i gave her 2k. then started walking the long distance to where i parked, i was seriously cat walking and shinning teeth, everybody noticed and started congratulating me as i walked passed them. dashed the touts and police men there that followed me to the car the remaining money. got to my phone, and sent the visa approval message that i had already typed with faith since saturday (the one i posted initially)

i thank the thread, my journey started last year from the canadian thread, i applied to about 7schools, none gave me admission, i applied one last time to Lethbridge for UG Economics, i got the admission, when i told my mum, she said she is not paying that if i am looking for a way to leave the country, i should go to the us and study nursing, thats only when she will listen to me. then i came to this thread.

my sincere gratitude goes to;
WalSpring, the first nairalander i met, he helped pay for my visa fee online, thank you all the advice and assistance, your help cannot be measured. You are next..!!!!
KennyRonny, the second nairalander i met, i cannot thank you enough, together with walspring, we searched for schools that were still opened for admission, he kept on praying for me, he reviewed my transcript and even called and sent me a good luck text yesterday morning, thank you.
Texrem, you are next..!!!! your call yesterday morning gave me ginger. thanks for all your assistance, trust me, it really helped.
Slimmy, thanks for helping me with the payment of my sevis fee
innovativeame, we couldn’t meet up before you left but thanks for all your advice.

for everybody here, thank you, thank you and thank you. you people are the best.

to newbies, please read all the parts, i read every single page from page one of part1 to this last page. i saved all the useful tips in my phone and wrote some down.
i also compiled all the bible verses people quoted here from part1, i wrote them down and read every single one of them. fast and pray. i fasted throughout last week 6-2pm, then did 6-6 on monday and Tuesday. i almost fell ill but i dint die.

I must commend everyone on this thread. I have been a secret follower since over two years now.

Each time I read through this thread, that burning desire of postgraduate study in USA makes me feel I should begin the process urgently. But, the distractions in Nigeria are not allowing me to concentrate on this pursuit.

I work and earn averagely okay in Nigeria, but the dream of some young employee is to have a comfortable apartment, a nice car and other exuberance, which are my distractions. I had wanted to save up some amount and rely on GA or TA for this academic pursuit, which I believed would turn out to be successful.

Within me, I would not have academic fulfillment without PG study in US or other educationally advanced countries. I pray this turn out to be successful .

I just need motivation and courage, maybe something would turn out good next year. I realized that whenever I tell some people about this plan, even family members, they tend to discourage me.

I will keep peeping into this thread, as I have always done secretly

May God help me! Amen.

Then stop telling people. They say if you want to get to your destination, don't tell anyone about your journey. Except people that you strongly believe will help you, if you need people that share same ambitions with you, there are enough people here on Nairaland that will motivate you and carry you along. This e-fam is more than enough for you. Trust me.

Please, my i-20 form will arrive anytime this week, can i go ahead and pay for the visa fee and start filling the DS-160 form?
i heard july is already booked up for interview, that i need an agent to apply for me, please how true is this information? Thank you very much for your prompt response sir/ma.(my profile graduate program-Msc fall 2015)

You don't need an agent to apply, if you have a soft copy of your I-20, you can go ahead and book, there are dates from the 13th, if you can't still find a date in July, go through the emergency route.
Please don't use an Agent. People here will guide you better.
