Crime / Police Arrest Five Women For Stripping Lady Naked Over Allegation Of Phone Theft by NaijaCover(m): 5:53am On May 06
The Operatives Of The Edo State Police Command have arrested five women for stripping Christabel Akhigbe naked over alleged phone theft in Benin City.

DAILY POST reports that the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Funsho Adeboye, who disclosed this to newsmen in Benin City, said the women also videoed the victim’s unclothedness and uploaded it on social media platforms.

Adegboye said the suspects accused the victim of stealing an Android phone belonging to one Blessing Lucky. They invited her to return the said mobile device. He explained that after Christabel had returned the phone to the owner, the women lured her into a room, beat and stripped her naked and also threatened to apply pepper to her private parts. The suspects then allegedly made a video of the scene and made it go viral on social media.

Adegboye said that upon receiving the complaint, police operatives arrested the suspects who confessed to the crime.

The Commissioner of Police, who gave the names of the suspects as Blessing Lucky, 15, Jennifer Eboigbe, 30, Iziegbe Ogbodu, 39, Naomi Ekhonetomwan, 17, and Lucky Endurance, 16, said they were arrested for indecent assault and cyberstalking.

While warning citizens not to take laws into their own hands, the police commissioner noted that those who would have been the complainants are now suspects in the case. He assured that the police command would cooperate with human rights organisations to ensure that the suspects pay for the crime.

The suspects, he affirmed, will soon be charged in court.

In an interview, one of the suspects, Jenifer Eboigbe, said she was ashamed of what they did to the victim.

“My daughter, Blessing, came to me and said that her phone was stolen, and after some days, we retrieved the phone from Christabel. The girl begged me that they shouldn’t beat her but despite my plea, they went ahead and stripped her naked. I am ashamed of what they did because I am a mother,” she said.

Crime / Man Arrested For Allegedly Defiling Minor Inside Mosque Restroom by NaijaCover(m): 5:35am On May 06
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old male worshipper identified as Abiola, otherwise known as Aro, who was accused of defiling a 14-year-old minor (name withheld) at the Olorunloba Mosque restroom located on Ondo Road in the Ijebu-Ode area of Ogun State.

Before Saturday’s incident, the suspect had been a member of the mosque for more than 15 years, according to information obtained exclusively by PUNCH Metro.

Following the completion of the afternoon Muslim prayer in the mosque, our correspondent learnt that the incident happened on Saturday, March 4, 2024, at about 2:20pm.

Based on the information provided to the police officers at the Igbeba Division, the survivor claimed that she needed to relieve herself and went to the mosque’s bathroom to pass the stool.

She, however, explained that she heard a knock on the door shortly after she entered the restroom.

The survivor further claimed that she was startled when she opened the door and discovered Aro standing by it, even though she had assumed the knock was from her younger brother, who had also come for the prayer.

She told the police that she was trying to find out why Aro was in the women’s restroom when she surprisingly saw him by the door. He was said to have then allegedly shoved her back into the restroom and forced her up against the wall.

A police source who was privy to the report but craved anonymity because he was not authorised to speak with the press told our correspondent that despite the survivor’s cries and pleas, Aro removed her pants violently and pinned the teenager to the toilet wall before having carnal knowledge of the girl.

A police document exclusively made available to PUNCH Metro on Sunday about the report of the incident partly read, “As a result of what Aro did, the survivor started bleeding uncontrollably from her private parts. She went back home to report the matter to her guardian, who took her to a general hospital in the area for medical attention.”

Following the suspect’s arrest, he was detained, according to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, who also informed PUNCH Metro that the case would be forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation Department for additional investigation.

“The suspect has been arrested and detained for alleged defilement. He will be transferred to the State CID in Abeokuta immediately after the preliminary investigation is completed,” Odutola stated via a WhatsApp message on Sunday.

A related incident occurred on April 26, 2024, according to PUNCH Metro report, when the command detained two brothers, Olamijuwon Noibi and Lukman Olatunbosun, for suspected gang rape in Oke-Eri, Atan-Ijebu.

One of the suspects had tricked the survivor into coming to their apartment, where he allegedly assaulted her sexually and threatened to kill his younger brother, Olatunbosun, with a knife after he refused to take part in the crime.

Noibi was said to have also filmed the moment his brother was allegedly having unlawful sexual intercourse with the survivor.

Crime / Edo: Police Re-Arrest Prisoner Who Escaped From Jail During #EndSARS Protest by NaijaCover(m): 5:08pm On May 05
The Edo State Police Command has re-arrested a 58-year-old prisoner, Jacob Alonge, who escaped from the Benin Correctional Centre during the 2020 #EndSARS protest in the State.

DAILY POST reports that the Commissioner of Police, CP Funsho Adegboye, disclosed this to newsmen in Benin City.

Adegboye said the inmate was sentenced to 21 years imprisonment by the Edo High Court for raping his own daughter, Gift Alonge.

According to him, “While the case is ongoing in court, he threatened that the case would have no end and true to his threat, his daughter and others who were coming to testify in court died mysteriously but he was convicted.

“After escaping from the prison during the 2020 #EndSARS protest, he was not re-arrested, but nemesis has caught up with him and he has been re-arrested and would be taken to where he belong.”

Adegboye, who described the convict as a dangerous human being, added that he is not fit to live with human beings.

He said the convict, who was serving a jail term, escaped during the #EndSARS jail break in the two custodial centres in Benin.

According to him, the police got credible intelligence that the convict, a serial rapist, was sighted at Ososo community in Akoko-Edo local government of the state.

The CP disclosed that the operatives of the Command stormed the community to arrest the inmate but some unscrupulous elements in community resisted his arrest.

He said the operatives overpowered those that resisted the arrest of the convict, following which he was re-arrested and brought to the Command.

The commissioner, however, appealed to members of the community not to shield criminals because they may be their victims tomorrow, noting that criminal don’t have permanent friends.

In an interview with newsmen, the convict said he escaped because everyone was escaping after the prison was forced open during the #EndSARS protest.

“I escaped to my village. I was called that police are in my house and are looking for me, so I went to meet them and I was arrested,” he stated.

Nigerian Lady Dies After Friends Allegedly Pushed Her Into Pot Of Boiling Fresh Pepper And Tomatoes Stew (Graphic Photo)

A Nigerian lady identified as Roseline has died due to severe burns after she was pushed into a big pot of boiling grounded fresh pepper and tomatoes by her friends in Delta State.

Activist, Comrade Israel Joe, who confirmed the incident in a Facebook post on Friday, May 3, 2024, said Roseline died last Friday after two weeks of fighting for her life in a hospital in Warri.

According to Joe, before Roseline passed away, she revealed that her friends were ‘beefing’ her but she still travelled with them for a catering job in Sapele where the incident happened.

The activist is demanding justice for the deceased, vowing to bring the perpetrators to book

RIP, dear Rozzy. She was pushed into a big boiling pot of grinded fresh pepper and tomatoes by her friend on Saturday, 13th April. She battled for about two weeks with her roasted/boiled body and finally died last week Friday 26th April," he wrote.

Rozzy was buried four days ago, but we can't just allow things to slide as though nothing happened. What an evĂI friendship like those I once had.

Nobody in the neighbourhood in Otokutu knew Roseline had been allegedly kĂIIed by these same friends she was living with. She was buried with no one to bid her goodbye and with no single bĹłrĂaI poster to honour her. Just two days in the morgue, the mortuary attendants demanded she be carried away to bury.

According to Rozzy, her friends were beefing her, but she still decided to travel with them for a catering job in Sapele where they were speaking their local language with this Yoruba girl, Rozzy, not understanding their conversation.

All of a sudden, she landed in a very big pot of boiling fresh pepper and tomatoes where they even still delayed in rescuing her. She was later rushed to Sage Hospital, by Estate in Warri, where they managed the situation, but my friend couldn't make it.

What pains me is that these two girls are still walking and gallivanting everywhere like nothing happened. I hate intimidation and oppression, especially against persons who are non-indigenes.

No report to the police, no investigations, no arrest, nothing. The law is superior, a citizen is a citizen and possesses the full right of citizenship. Keep your "indigeneship" in your pocket, the police must smoke them out so they can face the law. Na God dey help who nor get helper.

We shall fight for Rozzy, you can not just be kílled like a chicken and buried like an aŋímąl. Nobody deserves such a hørribIe dęąth. We never got to meet Rose, only chatting on Facebook due to endless busy schedules only to see you, at the most disgusting sight at Sage Hospital, hoping for your recovery, but dęąțĥ stole you. Justice shall prevail, including if you would be exhumed.
#Justice4Rosy Rest on Dearest.
