A 19-Year-Old Woman, Fatimo Agboke, has been accused of fatally stabbing her neighbour’s son, Faroul Azeez, during a confrontation in the Ijegun area of Lagos State.

PUNCH Online learnt that the incident occurred around 9:20 p.m. on September 9, 2024.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this to our correspondent on Wednesday.

The 19-year-old suspect reportedly got into a fight with the 20-year-old victim, during which she allegedly grabbed a broken bottle and stabbed the victim in the neck, resulting in Azeez’s death.

Attempts to rush the deceased to the hospital for medical attention were in vain, as he tragically passed away on the way.

Hundeyin stated, “On September 9, 2024, a complaint was received from the Ijegun area of the state, reported at Isheri-Oshun Division by a man that a neighbour had an argument with his son.

“The victim was stabbed with a broken bottle on his neck by Agboke, which caused him grievous bodily harm. He gave up the ghost during an attempt to rush to a hospital for medical attention.

“The division raced to the scene where the lifeless body of the deceased was seen on the ground, facing up in a pool of blood with a deep cut on his neck. The corpse has been removed and deposited at Mainland General Hospital in Yaba for autopsy.”

Hundeyin stated that the suspect had been arrested and detained, adding that an investigation was underway to uncover the incident’s circumstances.

A PUNCH Online report from February 2024 described how a middle-aged woman named Cynthia Aigbondon fatally stabbed her neighbour, identified only as Barakat, in the Ajegunle area of the state.

The Suspect was arrested and detained by the police command.

The Anambra State Government through the state Ministry of Women’s Affairs and Social Welfare, has ordered a probe into the case of the alleged murder of one Mrs. Ogechukwu Okafor, who was allegedly killed by her husband, Mr Elijah.

It was gathered that the incident happened on August 13, 2024, but was reported to the ministry by the deceased family, following suspicious moves from the husband.

This was disclosed in a press statement issued on Wednesday by the media aide to the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Chidimma Ikeanyionwu.

According to Ikeanyionwu, the culprit who is said to be a pastor, committed the alleged incident in Nimo community in Njikoka Local Government Area of the State.

The Statement Read In Part, “The deceased uncle, Mr Samuel Onuorah, from Abatete community, who led the family member to lay the complaint at the ministry, alleged that he got a call from her late niece’s husband that her niece, Ogechukwu, fell from four-storey building and died.

“Mr Elijah Emeka Ibeabuchi, who hails from Nimo in Njikoka Local Government Area of the Anambra State, is the husband to the late Ogechukwu Okafor.

The Statement read in part, “The deceased uncle, Mr Samuel Onuorah, from Abatete community, who led the family member to lay the complaint at the ministry, alleged that he got a call from her late niece’s husband that her niece, Ogechukwu, fell from four-storey building and died.

“Mr Elijah Emeka Ibeabuchi, who hails from Nimo in Njikoka Local Government Area of the Anambra State, is the husband to the late Ogechukwu Okafor.

“He further revealed that their doubts were cleared after they went to the mortuary where the said husband had deposited their daughter’s corpse and saw evidently that she didn’t fall from any storey building as claimed by the husband.”

Responding to the development, the commissioner, Ify Obinabo, called on all stakeholders, women groups, human rights activists, and social media users to support the state government in ensuring that the deceased gets justice.

Obinabo vows that the state government would probe the incident while urging everyone to lend their voice on the matter.

She added that she would also notify the state governor and the matter will be taken up so that the deceased will get justice.

A five-year-old girl whose identity has not been revealed has been confirmed dead while four others were seriously injured in an auto crash that occurred in the Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State on Wednesday morning.

The police spokesperson said that preliminary information revealed that the accident occurred along Onitsha-Enugu Old Road by Oye Agu Junction Abagana, when a Toyota Sienna vehicle carrying passengers en route to Lagos, had a brake failure and rammed into traders selling by the roadside at Oye Agu Junction.

Reacting to the accident, Ikenga said the state police commissioner, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, cautioned drivers/transporters to always do the necessary checks on their vehicle before driving.

Details of the crash are still not available, but sources said wares were damaged and many people may have also lost their lives.

A video of the incident which is currently on social media, showed the crashed Sienna vehicle and some of the traders who were believed to have been crushed to death.

The market usually has traders selling food items by the roadside.

The Trending video also shows damaged tomatoes and other food items.

President-General of Abagana community, Engr. Ben Okongwu confirmed the incident, saying at least three people lost their lives.

Ikenga said, “The CP while condoling with the family of the deceased directs the arrest and interrogation of the driver.

He said the crash was as a result of loss of control by the driver.

Spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra State Command, RC Margaret Onabe said she was not aware of the incident.

“To this end, the vehicle has been recovered at the station as the investigation is ongoing.”
