A 29-Year-Old, Mizanmil Abubakar, has confessed that his hatred for his father pushed him to murder him.

The suspect committed the patricide in the Barin-Sale area of Minna, the capital of Niger State.

The Niger State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed the details of the crime in a statement on July 30, 2024.

According to him, Kpakungu Police Division received information on July 29 at about 10 am, that a certain Abubakar Adawa, 65, was missing from his house in the Barkin-Sale area of Minna.

“Police Operatives attached to the Division led by the DPO visited the house and invited Mizanmil Abubakar, 29, and Aisha Abubakar, mother and son, for interrogation,” he stated.

He explained that the whole compound was thoroughly searched, and surprisingly, the severed body of the missing person was discovered buried in a shallow grave within the compound.

The Police PRO further disclosed that during interrogation, the son confessed to being responsible for the gruesome murder of his late father, saying he had great hatred for him.

He claimed to have used “a hoe to kill and severe the victim into parts before he buried him in a shallow grave within the compound.”

The Police Spokesperson said that the preliminary investigation is still ongoing and the suspect will soon be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Minna, for further investigation and diligent prosecution.

Three students of Cross River State University have died in an auto crash while travelling to their homes following a two-week closure of the institution to stop students from taking part in the hardship protest slated for August 1st.

The students who boarded a bus, were on their way to Ogoja in the northern part of the state when the accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon.

It was gathered that the accident occurred near Ikom in the central part of the state, along the Calabar–Ikom highway.

An eyewitness, simply identified as Ndoma Akunobor, who was an occupant of the bus, said the three students who lost their lives were from the departments of Microbiology, Plants Science and Biotechnology.

The names of the students have not been ascertained at the time of filing this report.

The management of the university, in a circular, had ordered the closure of the institution for two weeks beginning from 30th July to 12th August, ahead of the nationwide protest slated to commence on 1st August.

The Economic And Financial Crimes Commission has apprehended nine individuals suspected of involvement in internet fraud.

They were arrested on Monday in the Wuye area of Abuja, following an intelligence-led operation by the Commission’s Abuja Zonal Directorate.

An EFCC statement posted on Tuesday via X said, “Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abuja Zonal Directorate, have arrested nine suspected internet fraudsters.

“They were arrested on Monday, 29 July 2024, at Wuye axis of Abuja following credible intelligence on their suspected involvement in internet-related fraud.”

During the operation, several items were recovered from the suspects.

The Statement added, “Items recovered from them include 19 phones, one car, four laptops and one iPad.”

The Commission further indicated its intention to pursue legal action against the suspects, stating, “The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are Concluded.”

24 Housemates face possible eviction after Team Beta becomes the second pair to be saved after winning the show’s nomination challenge.

On Monday, Team Beta, consisting of Tjay and Ben, played an impressive game in the arena.

Each housemate was tasked during the arena game to walk over the bins towards a basket full of ping pong balls and take them to the other empty basket.

After the challenge, team Beta had the most balls with seven, which saved them and Ndi Nne pair, who became the first custodians of the house from this week’s nominations, while other pairs are up for possible eviction.

According to Biggie’s new twist, the Mbadiwe Twins, who won the first heads of house, HoH, title will also be up for possible eviction,

DAILY POST reports that Biggie had earlier announced that HoH will no longer have immunity. A change from previous seasons where HOH enjoyed immunity from eviction nominations and had veto power to save and replace housemates.
